Raw was a complete garbage, especially the last segment which imo showed clearly that the WWE is behind Cena.

I interpreted the segment as being more about Punk than Cena. As bad a guy as Punk is being lately, the company knew it would have to make him even "badder" before his match with Cena; trying to accomplish this the week before was almost futile, given they were trying to do it in Punk's hometown of Chicago.

This week was better; can you think of a more effective way to turn fans against you than to openly insult Bret Hart in front of a Canadian audience? Meanwhile, Cena was being Cena; acknowledging the Hitman legend with the words: "I couldn't carry your boots." (Can you imagine Hulk Hogan in his prime paying tribute to someone that way?) Cena has more depth to his character than Hogan ever did.

That the show's final segment was accomplished without violence was terrific. When an over-the-top form of entertainment like pro wrestling can build suspense for the coming PPV with subtlety instead of two men pounding on each other, so much the better.

Cena and Punk threw words.....it was Bret Hart who delivered the physical message. I thought it was very well done, albeit a bit muted, probably in deference to the Jerry Lawler situation.

Last week raw was strong.Had good matches, segments and promos. This week it was bad comparing to last week.Opening segment between punk-hart was a good one.None of the matches were above average. The final segment involving punk-hart-cena had its strengths and weaknesses.Cena calling punk's reign irrelavant was a harm to the prestige of the title.Punk cut a pretty strong promo and opened two possible doors to two huge feuds.Except lowering the title cena also did good.Bret did his job too.Good finish.Rate:2/5

That final Punk/Cena promo was awesome. And it was awesome to me because I guess I'm not as smarky as a lot of people here. I think Jack Hammer is right about wwe playing the IWC like fiddles because if you smark to much in to that promo, you're going to get yourself uneccessarily(sp) bent out of shape. That promo was awesome. Top heel and top face both played their roles epicly (lol I know that's not a word)

Punk put himself over by way of overrating himself and Cena put Punk down by way of underrating him....the top two mic workers in the company did an amazing job. They made me want to buy this ppv and I've never bought anything other than WM. I'm looking forward to this match more than any other match this year!

This week on Smackdown we had Sheamus against Daniel Bryan and Bryan tapped out to the cloverleaf. Now Bryan is billed as a submission speacialist and apparently has a reverse to every submission. Now I know they did this to increase the believability of Sheamus's new submission finisher going into NoC, but I don't think Bryan should have been tapping to it. If submissions are your thing and some brawler can make you tap out having only learned the submission (storyline wise) then it kind of hurts your credibility.

WWE could have had alberto come down and interfere to stop Bryan from tapping, this would also have put a bit of extra heat on Del Rio and Bryan could say he was just about to get out of the hold. Nobody would have been hurt by this way of doing things and I don't see why WWE decided to have Bryan tap out

I enjoyed last nights show and thought it was pretty good. Some highlights for me are:

Opening segment:

While after the ppv, it is all but obvious that were going to get rematches at HIAC, I liked the interaction between Heyman, Cena and Del Rio. I also like how they invovled the ref from last night.

Miz talk show:

Good decison to give Miz a talk show segment as he is a guy who can definately pull it off. I like that they introduced Ryback as a possible challenger for Miz and liked how the segment played out. I just hope they find a way to have the Miz/Ryback fued be longer then Ryback winning the title at HIAC. I outlined my thoughts in another thread, but I would have this fued culminate at the Rumble with Ryback winning the title, avoide putting them on at HIAC and have them invovled in tag matches against each other at Survivor Series and the December ppv.

Prime Time Players:

While I understand why they took their title match away, they still need to be kept towards the top and last night did that. Also, O'Neal was real good on the mic. Hope we get more of that from him down the road.

Del Rio/Punk backstage:

It is always refreshing to see heels argue with one another. Liked Punk bringing up their Survivor Series match from a year ago too.

Main Event:

The match was ok, but I liked the finish. Cena got the win but Punk had his foot on the ropes so it continues their story with Punk still not really have been beat. The arguing between Punk and the ref felt a little over the top to end the show, but it keeps with his character of being the best.

I thought that Raw made much better use overall with the additional time than they have been as a whole. There was still some Brodus Clay nonsense and some stupid Subway sandwich segment backstage. However, there were some pretty good & competetive matches on the show.

Mysterio & Sin Cara vs. Primo & Epico was pretty decent while it lasted. Barrett vs. Gabriel was also surprisingly good as I expected a very brief squash match. Sandow vs. Ryder was also a good solid match that had both wrestlers working hard and were given a decent amount of time. The tag team title match, in my eyes, was a lot of fun and a bit better than the ppv match. This tag title match felt more relevant than any tag title match we've seen in a very long time. Orton vs. Tensai was pretty good, though I thought their match on SD! this past Friday was better. The main event was a fun match that continues to play on the controversial match finish. Punk's foot was clearly on the bottom rope, so we're still left with the fact that neither Cena or Punk has a clear advantage over the other in their current feud. I think that works out just fine as it'll put all that much more importance on their match at the HIAC ppv. Of course the match hasn't been announced, but we know it's going to happen.

The Miz's talk show segment was ok. I like how Miz put himself over and I've read some complaints about Miz comparing himself to Piper & Jericho & Edge. As usual, it's the WWE playing the IWC like a fiddle by pressing some hot buttons. Just makes you want to see Miz get his ass kicked all the more just like a classic heel. I'm glad that we're finally going to see Ryback get a real feud against someone that's a legit star in WWE. I just hope they don't make Miz look like a complete chump against Ryback because it's not going to accomplish anything. People as a whole aren't really buying into the unbeatable juggernaut with no weaknesses and it's only going to get weaker as things go on. So hopefully, this will be a good solid feud.

I wasn't that wild about Ziggler vs. Santino. I was hoping that we'd get a continuation of his feud with Orton, which I think there's still a chance of, but I did like how Ziggler carried himself out there while ridiculing Santino.

I also very much enjoyed Titus O'Neil on the mic last night. He delivered a brief but very passionate and intense promo. I've enjoyed their antics but I'm also in the mood to see them in a more serious mode now.

Overall, last night's show was fun in my opinion. There was lots of good news about Jerry Lawler and, as I said earlier, the WWE made pretty good use of the additional time. For me, last night's show was a good solid B.

I don't see why WWE decided to have Bryan tap out

Its because WWE wanted people to believe Cloverleaf as good submission move that could actually make him win against Del Rio.

The Choice of Bryan might be because they had good chemistry and also maybe to tease Sheamus to hit the Brogue Kick on him.

I did say that I realised it was to increase the believability of the cloverleaf earlier in my post, but my question why Bryan why not someone else. Bryan is a submission specialist and as such should not be tapping out to some nobody as far as submissions go. Sheamus very very rarely used submissions so he is not a submission guy. Bryan is and as such shouldn't have tapped out.
They could have chosen anyone to tease the Brogue kick, but they didn't tease it in the match and then they allowed Sheamus to use the Brogue at the ppv anyway. Really not a good idea to have your submission speacialist tap for nothing

WWE Raw - September 24, 2012

Opening Segment - I enjoyed the opener as it featured some great heel work from CM Punk & Paul Heyman. Both of them are really shining in their current roles, in my eyes, and both of them also put over the importance of being WWE Champion, in a heelish way of course. I like that they're using some of the real life issues with refs in the NFL as part of the storyline. It gives everything a little bit of a solid foothold in reality. I thought AJ did well in her role and she continues to do a good job of telling a story and selling situations through her facial expressions and body language. Heyman's "proposal" worked nicely as he & Punk generated heat by "picking on" AJ in a way. AJ sort of coming off as this cute, somewhat helpless girl that's being picked on is part of what got Daniel Bryan over as a heel. Thumbs Up

1. Kofi Kingston vs. Dolph Ziggler - We haven't seen these two wrestle in a while so, to me, the match felt fresh and it delivered. Jim Ross said alluded to the fact that this was a main event level match and I have to agree. Both men worked very hard and put over a great back and forth, highly athletic match. If they'd had just a little more time, this match could've possibly stolen the show at any ppv. Kofi & Ziggler have great chemistry together and everything was spot on from the timing of their moves to Ziggler's selling. There were a few very believable near falls here and there, especially when Kofi hit the SOS roll up on Ziggler. The end comes with Ziggler tossing Kofi upside down into a corner. Kofi stumbles out backward, selling the effects, and Ziggler hits the Zig Zag for the clean win at the 11 minute mark. Prior to the match, there was a confrontation between Vickie & R-Truth at ringside that ultimately saw Truth throwing his drink on Vickie. The ref sent both of them back, and Little Jimmy too, and I immediately had hopes that this would be a real match between the two that wasn't dogged by interference or shenanigans on the outside. Hot match that the crowd was into from bell to bell. ***1/2

Daniel Bryan, Kane & Dr. Shelby - They aired a series of new therapy videos featuring the three men eating at a local diner. The first one featured Bryan & Shelby sitting at a table with Shelby explaining that they were going to do a little roleplaying therapy. Soon after, Kane walks up with an apron around him and a notepad asking if he could take their order. Kane's deadpan delivery continues to just work for me and he eventually loes his patience with Bryan and explains what he'd do to Bryan but subsituting the "old cook" for Bryan. He explained that he shoved the old cook's face into the deep fryer, pulled off his beard, chopped it up and sprinkled it all over everything that he's cooked so far. I thought Kane's sarcastic "My name is Gerald", referencing the name tag he has on his apron, was funny. The second one featured Kane & Bryan sitting in a booth talking about how well they worked this past Friday on SD!. They both started making loud noises of satisfaction, such as Bryan screaming "Yes" in an elated fashion as a play off the famous diner scene from the movie "When Harry Met Sally" in which Meg Ryan is showing Billy Crystal how well she can fake an orgasm. As this is going on, Mae Young is in the diner and completes the play by saying "I'll have what they're having". It was a little dated, but still funny because both Kane & Bryan put so much into it. The third sequence had them doing another sort of role reversal by having what the other one would normally eat. A waitress puts a salad in front of Kane and a plate of spaghetti & meatballs in front of Bryan. Kane takes a bite of the salad and lets out an enormous canned burp. Bryan takes a bite of the meatball and says that it's not as bad as he thought before he starts to sell the effects of an upset stomach. He bends over in Shelby's lap and "pukes" all over him. The canned burp & puke was a little over the top, but the crowd was very much digging it. I don't think these were quite as funny as previous skits, but they were still funny. I could've done without the burp & puke but, again, Bryan & Kane put so much effort into making this work that I can't help but be impressed. Thumbs Up

2. Santino Marella & Zack Ryder vs. The Prime Time Players - A brief match that was used mostly to give the Players some momentum. The match was short, too short really to mean much of anything, but the right team won and they won decisively. The end comes with Titus making a blind tag as Santino sets up Young for The Cobra. Titus grabs Santino by the arm and spins him around. He then pushes him into the ropes and catches in in the Sky High slam. NA

Mick Foley & CM Punk - Before going to commercial, Jim Ross announced that there was a "special guest" on Raw and it turned out to be Mick Foley. Foley does his thing for a bit, mostly talking about how disappointed he is in CM Punk. Punk's music then hits and he comes out. This was an awesome segment in my mind with both guys delivering top notch mic work. Foley in this segment was the best I've seen him in quite a while. He delivered a heated, passionate promo and Punk continues to do a great job as someone that's just a flat out asshole with a chip on his shoulder. I also dig the fact that CM Punk is now insulting the audience. The WWE has gone full blown heel with Punk and not tried to make him the hip heel that it's cool for "edgy" fans to want to cheer for. Punk still gets some cheers, there's no way around that, but not nearly as much as he used to. Foley explained the reasons he was out there was mostly because AJ asked him to come out and make an announcement, as she's sitll upset from what happened earlier. Foley really came alive when he told Punk that fans don't care about statistics, referring to Punk putting over how long his reign is, as they care about "moments". He ask Punk if he wants to be a statistic or a legend? He informs him that he has a choice. AJ is showing him the respect by letting him decide if he'll face John Cena at HIAC and that Cena was in the building and that he could tell him face to face later on in the show. I expected Punk to attack Foley but he didn't and Punk just stood in the ring with a thoughtful, sort of sad expression on his face. Just a great outing from both men here. Thumbs Up

3. Ryback vs. The Miz - This match gave me the feeling of being more of a "tease" for a real match between the two. The Miz got in some offense on Ryback but Ryback continued to power his way through. I thought these two worked well together as everything felt smooth and crisp. Ryback does get the clean win after hitting his finisher. The announcers did their best at putting over Ryback's win as major, but it would've had imapct if Miz hadn't lost several non-title matches already. I get the feeling they're setting up a title match in which Miz is going to have to rethink his strategy and come up with a plan to handle Ryback. *1/2

4. Tyson Kidd vs. Wade Barrett - This was mostly another showcase match for Wade Barrett to get him back into the swing of things. You know Kidd was jobbing of course. There was some pretty decent action while the match lasted, though this match wasn't as good as Barrett vs. Gabriel last week. Kidd hit some solid offense but Barrett made his comeback. Barrett managed to put Kidd in the Boss Man Slam, as I still call it, and it looked awesome. He spun Kidd around several times before slamming him to the mat and it just looked like it had a ton of force behind it. Barrett then delivers the big elbow shot for the win. *1/4

Jerry Lawler Interview - This was a nice segment in my eyes. Nothing flashy about it, just a respectable interview. Lawler looked good and commented that his voice isn't up to par. The fact that he had a tube snaked down his throat for several days is the cause and it'll probably still be a little while before that fully heels. Lawler was smiling and while he did look energetic, he still looked like he was fatigued to me. He looked healthy and in good spirits but maybe it's the way he sounded more than anything else that makes me think of him as being kind of tired. He thanked all the fans, he cracked a few jokes and told everyone that he would return to Raw at some point as soon as he could. Thumbs Up

5. Sheamus, Rey Mysterio & Sin Cara vs. Alberto Del Rio, David Otunga & Ricardo Rodriguez - This was a match made earlier by AJ as the three heels came to visit her in her office, despite the fact that both Otunga & Del Rio told her that Ricardo isn't a competitor. Surprisingly, this match turned out to be much better than I thought it'd be. Ricardo wasn't running around out there acting like a clown. He was seriously, in his limited way while staying in character, trying to help his team get the win. I laughed when Cole referred to Ricardo as a "gnat" because it seemd appropriate. I thought the commentators did a good job of pounding home that this is another questionable decision by AJ because Ricardo isn't a wrestler. The match had some good action and Ricardo did well here. As I said, he actually tried to wrestle and managed to sell his lack of skills, he's a "ring announcer" after all, quite well by listening to coaching from Otunga & Del Rio. Even though is offense was limited mostly to cheap shots and some punches & kicks, it fit perfectly with the story being told. The end comes with the babyfaces rallying against the heels after Sheamus gets the hot tag. The end comes with Sheamus tagging in Sin Cara, who hits the Swanton Bomb off the top rope for the clean win at the 8 minute mark. I figured we'd have Ricardo suffer another Brogue Kick, further calling into question AJ's decision to put him in this match. But Otunga ate the move instead. **1/4

Team Hell No - Earlier in the night, it was announced that there'd be a Rawactive vote in which the fans could vote on Bryan & Kane's official team name. The choices were Team Teamwork, Team Hell No and Team Friendship. Bryan & Kane made their entrances and came out to await the results. I expected Team Friendship to get the nod but the winner was Team Hell No by a surprising margin. It kind of makes sense really. After all, Kane is the "devil's favorite demon" and so much of his character has revolved around aspects taken from Hell and Daniel Bryan's current catchphrase is "No!" so it does kinda fit. As they're looking on, Cody Rhodes & Damien Sandow come up behind them and jump them. Cody hits Kane with the Beautiful Disaster kick and Sandow puts Bryan in his neckbreaker finisher. Cody & Sandow walk onto the stage and Cody insults them on the mic for a bit before announcing that they're a team and that they'll take the titles from them. Rhodes said that their team name is "Team Rhodes Scholars" before walking away to leave Bryan & Kane selling the effects of the moves. I'm interested in this feud as it looks like the WWE is really going to cement Bryan & Kane as a team for a while. Even though they've only been tag champs for a week, they've already helped make tag team wrestling in WWE funner than it's been in quite a while. Thumbs Up

6. Layla & Alicia Fox vs. Eve Torres & Beth Phoenix - A brief but ok Divas match. While the Diva matches as of late certainly can't be called classics, they're also no longer the nonsense they once were and there's actually a story going on. Layla & Alicia worked well against Beth Phoenix before Even makes a blind tag. She runs across the ring and attacks Layla, knocking her off the apron, before she hits Alicia with her neckbreaker finisher for the win. Beth Phoenix is a little dismayed as she felt she did most of the work. Kaitlyn's music hits and she comes out on a crutch and tells everyone that she saw some footage of herself being attacked via security camera. She informs everyone the attacker was a blonde, which Beth allegedly being the attacker. Beth denies this vehemently as Eve accuses her and sells her disbelief. She then attacks Beth and hits her with her neckbreaker before walking out. 1/2*

7. Brodus Clay vs. Tensai - The match went for a few minutes with both men delivering some offense before Big Show's music hits. Show comes down to the ring and ultimately lays both men out before leaving. Not much here, just a showcase for Show's return. As they come back from commercial, Jim Ross announced that Big Show will meet Randy Orton in the main event on SD! this Friday. It looks like they're starting Show down the road towards being the next WHC contender. NA

John Cena & CM Punk - While this wasn't as good as the other promo segments on the show, it was still a pretty good one and continued the show long streak of doing a great job in promoting the upcoming HIAC match between these two. Even though it hasn't been announced, we all know its coming. Cena was a little goofy here, I hate it when he does all the cursing jibber jabber before making a PG reference. Just doesn't work for me. Cena seemed to be kinda somber and he did his routine before Punk comes out with Paul Heyman. Punk gets in Cena's face and basically threatens him after a bit, telling him that he'll turn his back and if Cena's still there by the time he counts down from five, he'll hurt Cena worse than he's ever been hurt. As Punk turns around, Cena pulls out a lead pipe and waits patiently. As Punk turns around, he sees the pipe in Cena's left hand and hesitates. Heyman bails and Punk takes a shot in the gut from the pipe before rolling out of the ring. Cena poses and gives high fives to fans around the ring before the camera cuts to Punk walking backstage clutching the title while selling the gut shot. He passes by Mick Foley with Foley just kind of looking at him. He walks back up to Mick and delivers a kick to the gut before walking on. He stops and turns back, figuring that he'll go back for some more, but stops dead in his tracks and his eyes widen to the size of dinner plates. He backs up slightly as the camera pans back to Foley's position and Ryback is standing in front of him staring Punk down as the show goes off the air. Thumbs Up

Final Thoughts - Personally, I think WWE is starting to find its groove with the three hour Raws. I thought tonight's show went very well overall. Even though there were no matches officially announced, the HIAC ppv was built well and several current storylines were progressed nicely. The three main promo segments were good, especially the first two, and did a great job of hyping the WWE Championship match at HIAC. Wrestling action all in all was pretty decent. Kofi vs. Ziggler was a great singles match that gives Ziggler another solid win as he moves his way up. The tag match between the PTPs and Santino & Ryder wasn't much but it gave the PTPs a solid win over two over babyfaces right now. Miz vs. Ryback was ok while it lasted and continues the story of Miz being someone that falters in non-title matches. I have a feeling, if this goes on, that they'll build a real match between the two. The six man tag match was better than I expected it to be and it told a good story. Ricardo did an excellent job of staying in character while trying to wrestle as someone with little to no experience as he's a "ring announcer". Kane & Daniel Bryan continue to be entertaining and now have an official team name in Team Hell No. I like the idea of them embarking on a feud with Sandow & Rhodes as it keeps a spotlight on the tag team scene in and of itself and seems to indicate that Bryan & Kane will be teaming for a while. The Divas & the Clay vs. Tensai matches were really the only things that felt like filler to me, even though they both did serve something of a purpose. All in all, I enjoyed last night's Raw. I do wish that there'd been a little more solid overall wrestling action, but it was still pretty decent and a lot of current angles were progressed nicely, especially the WWE Championship picture.

Grade: B+

So this past Raw episode was the lowest rated Raw this year at 2.72. WWE usually gets their ass kicked in ratings during the fall. They bounce back around the royal rumble.

Ok, so anyone who just watched Raw, just saw the Tag Teams were looking great tonight! The whole Tag Team Tournament is just brilliant! It finally seems like the WWE is rebuilding a backbone for it's tag division. Even at the end of the show, Kane PINNED The WWE Champion CM Punk. This is exactly how to rebuild the Tag Division. Tag wrestlers need to be know for their great chemistry and ability to thrive in Tag competition. The WWE Champion signifies he's one of the top wrestlers in the business, but doesn't mean he works well in a team. The Tag team champions should always come out on top against a random team thrown together for one match only.

Finally Tag Team wrestling is coming back. What are your thoughts on this matter? Do you think this will last, or be a short run with the Tag division? Also, do you think is was the right move to let Kane pinned the WWE Champion?

I loved tonights Cena-less Raw. From the first segment with Punk Heyman to Vickie Dolph to the tag match. I was really impressed and hooked the whole time. Loved AJ being scouted by the moron executive. Loved watching Cesaro own Clay and impressed with it. A lot of things on Raw was great. Rey and Sin Cara vs. Epico and Primo was nice and fast paced. I love how Punk really isnt a heel yet he's being treated like one. hahaha Loved tonights Raw

WWE Raw - October 1, 2012

Opening Segment - This segment was ok, but it didn't blow me away. I also thought it ran a little too long. Punk & Heyman's interaction with AJ was fun and I continue to dig AJ in her character. You don't really know what to expect from her and that's a good thing as she's able to use her facial expressions to tell a good story. Daniel Bryan & Kane coming out didn't really add anything to the segment but it didn't take anything away. Both were still entertaining in their roles. The tag team match has the potential to be fun. Punk & Heyman both did a good job but they weren't at their best here. Thumbs In The Middle

1. Rey Mysterio & Sin Cara vs. Epico & Primo in a WWE Tag Team Championship touranment match - This was a good solid, high energy tag match that was better than I was expecting. Cara's botches were kept to a minimum here and all four wrestlers worked hard to put on a tag match that felt like it mattered. I also like how they're stretching out the tournament matches to all WWE television programming, with one match advertised for the debut of Main Event this Wednesday and one taking place on SmackDown! this Friday. They gave them some solid time for this match, I was honestly expecting something more along the lines of a throwaway 3 minute match, but thankfully it didn't happen. While the outcome was pretty obvious before the bell rank, the teams worked hard and put on a fun match. The end comes with Mysterio hitting a double 619 on Epico & Primo before hitting the splash, AKA Dropping the Dime, for the win about the 10 minute mark. **1/2

2. Brodus Clay vs. Antonio Cesaro - This match was really short, but surprisingly physical. The commentators did a good job of hyping Cesaro & Brodus during the match,e specially putting over Brodus' size advantage and how that might be a problem for some of Cesaro's moves. The end comes with Cesaro, surprisingly, getting Brodus Clay up in the Neutralizer. It looked impressive, the crowd popped pretty good for it and the commentators put over the move. Cesaro gets the clean win and I was surprised. Brodus is pretty over as a babyface and has had a lot of wins, so having Cesaro go over him cleanly, and go over him in such a dominant fashion, was a pleasant surprise. Normally, matches this short wouldn't get rated but, as I said, they packed a surprising amount of action and delivered a few buzzworthy moments. *1/4

AJ Backstage - Their was a briefbackstage segment in which AJ is walking with her "executive coach" and they run into Kaitlyn. AJ makes what seems to be a very sincere apology to Kaitlyn for how she behaved towards her in the past before suddenly breaking up into this crazy, maniacal laugh. Again, it's hard to know what to expect from AJ but I like it. Not sure where they're going with this coach thing, but as long as it doesn't get in the way then it doesn't bother me. Thumbs Up

3. Zack Ryder vs. The Miz - Pretty decent television match between these two. I can understand if the match feels like filler when you consider Miz losing to Ryback last week. However, if Ryback is moving onto feud with Punk in Cena's place for the time being, then last night might've been WWE just moving forward with Miz getting back into the swing of things. The match went about 3 minutes but they put a lot of action into the time they were given. I like Miz's set up for his finisher of doing the powerbomb against the turnbuckles. It looks good and gets a nice pop. Miz hits the move on Ryder before hitting the Skull Crushing Finale for the win. The fact that Miz has scored a win on tv in a non-title match, something that hasn't happened much during his reign, further suggests that WWE might be taking Miz back in a more traditional direction. **

World Championship Debate - This segment was pretty damn lousy. I didn't have high hopes going into it. It wasn't as bad as I thought it'd be to be perfectly honest, but it still pretty much sucked. I like Sheamus ok as a face, much better as a heel, but he gets on my nerves when he tries to joke around about this shit. Big Show looked like he was falling back into the role of him being something of a dopey monster heel rather than the dominant one we've seen. Sheamus was out there making lame jokes and, as Show said, Sheamus was going on as if he wasn't taking Show seriously as a threat. Sheamus sometimes comes off like a very outdated Irish stereotype and I don't see any need for that. This segment didn't do anything to build heat for their match at HIAC, so I'm just glad it didn't run more than about 10 minutes. Thumbs Down

4. Ryback vs. Tensai - Not much to say about this. For the most part, it was a typical Ryback match. The only things of note were Ryback's failed attempts to put Tensai in his finisher. While JR did his best to cover for Ryback by saying Tensai was blocking, it just looked bad. Ryback simply just couldn't get Tenai up. He winds up hitting a clothesline for the win. NA

5. Beth Phoenix vs. Eve - Decent Divas match, again a step up from what we've gotten used to seeing from the Divas. The match furthered the story a bit of Eve's witch hunt as to who attacked Kaitlyn. The match had some good physical action and the women worked hard, even though the crowd was pretty dead for much of it. Eve spends some time working on Beth's shoulder, which she rammed into the ring post in an attempted shoulder block to the stomach in the corner. The end comes at the 3 minute mark with Eve hitting her neckbreaker finisher for the clean win. *1/4

6. Santino Marella vs. Heath Slater - Not much to say about this match other than it gave this new group of Slater, Jinder Mahal & Drew McIntyre some air time on Raw. The match was your standard Santino stuff. He hits the Cobra on Slater before Jinder & Drew jump in. They beat on Santino for a bit before talking on the mic for a little while. I'm not really sure what to make of this new group yet. It's still too early to form an opinion, but beating down Santino isn't all that impressive. NA

7. Sheamus vs. Damien Sandow - This was a damn good match that surprised me. I was expecting Sheamus to kind of plow through Sandow in about 3 minutes or so, but Sandow put out a main event level performance against Sheamus. The match was a strong, physical outing that really made Sandow look good. The commentators did a good job of putting over the match and putting over Sandow's abilities during the match. Sandow got in a lot of offense during the match, as did Sheamus, and this was definitely Sandow's finest moment in WWE thus far even though nobody really expected him to win here. I think everyone was just happy to get a damn good match here. The ending comes with Sandow being tossed back into the ring just before Cody Rhodes is pushed back into the announce table. He's tossed into the ring with Sandow and the two partners are sort of holding onto each other and helping one another get up. Sheamus lands a Brogue Kick that takes both of them out. Since Cody himself never laid a hand on Sheamus in any way, the ref didn't call for a DQ. Sheamus gets the win at the 16 minute mark, but a great showing from Sandow. ***1/4

CM Punk & Jim Ross - This segment started with Michael Cole introducing JR to the OKC crowd. As they're about to get into the Jim Ross Appreciation Night segment, CM Punk's music hits. Punk comes out and tells Cole to leave, which he does. This was a helluva good segment with Punk bringing his A game on the mic once again and Jim Ross playing his role as the classy, yet honest commentator that he's always been. Jim Ross' comments towards Punk were great and really got the live crowd behind him. Throughout the segment, there was tension in the air because I think everyone was expecting Punk to really humiliate JR. I even heard a fan yell out at Punk to please not hit JR. This entire segment only served to put more heat on CM Punk as Jim Ross is so beloved by damn near everybody. Punk seemed like a bully really when he was browbeating Jim Ross into leaving the ring, either that or get beaten up. When Ross hits the ramp Ryback's music hits and he comes out to a nice pop. JR stops as Ryback steps beside him and motions him to follow him. They both get into the ring with Ryback & Punk staring each other down. The live crowd was giving Ryback a good loud response and I'm sure everyone backstage was thrilled because this segment was also a test for Ryback. This will also only jack up Ryback's popularity as he came to Jim Ross' aid, and everybody pretty much loves JR. Punk climbs out of the ring after a bit and walks backward holding up the WWE Championship while screaming "best in the world". This was a strong follow up to their brief confrontation at the closing of Raw last Monday. The WWE is taking this slowly and I've no problem with that. Punk & Ryback didn't have to say anything as they were able to get the tension across. Thumbs Up

8. Kofi Kingston vs. Alberto Del Rio - This match was pretty decent, again better than I was expecting. I expected Del Rio to go in there and just roll over Kofi like he was nothing. However, Kofi did pretty well. I would've loved to have seen WWE give this match more time and for Kofi to look even stronger after his killer match with Ziggler last Monday on Raw. Kofi gets in a good amount of offense on Del Rio and, again, Kofi is someone that I think WWE can do so much more with. The end comes with Del Rio locking in the Cross Armbar. Kofi fights it for a bit and almost gets to the ropes rather than tapping out immediately as he's done in the past. Del Rio gets the win at the 7 minute mark. **1/4

9. Team Hell No vs. CM Punk & Dolph Ziggler - This was a fun tag team main event that was used to further advance the tag team division as a whole and the current situation with Bryan & Kane. Kane & Bryan told a good story with their continued tension, but they broke the tension up nicely with a few examples of mutual cooperation during the match. For instance, the team got a pretty decent pop when Kane & Bryan made a couple of legit, voluntary tags to one another. All four men worked well together, not surprising since three of the men in this match are among the top in-ring performers in pro wrestling right now in my eyes and Kane is someone that's pretty damn underrated. AJ Lee was the special guest ref and she, again, did a pretty good job. As with the Punk vs. Bryan match at MITB, she didn't let her crazy antics get in the way. She threw Heyman & Vickie out from ringside and that's about as "crazy" as she got. As Vickie is leaving the ringside area, she's screaming & Dolph is saying something but it's hard to make out over the crowd. As Punk is inside the ring, Ziggler drops down to the floor, grabs his briefcase and begins walking up the ramp with Vickie. Punk is left high & dry much the same way he did to Ziggler a few weeks back when they were teamed up. I like that the commentators mentioned that too. Little things like that add continuity to things. As Punk is screaming for Ziggler to come back, he turns around & Kane picks him up in a chokeslam for the clean win at the 13 minute mark. A good win for Team Hell No and the tag team division continues to build steam. **3/4

Final Thoughts - I thought Raw was overall really good last night. The WWE seems to be finding a good rhythm now with these three hours shows and are now making good use of the additional time. For me, the only real downside of the show was the World Championship Debate. It simply wasn't a good segment and didn't build any heat for the WHC match at HIAC. Too many stupid jokes and the champ not taking his opponent seriously, an opponent that he damn sure should take seriously considering how big he is, just really killed this. The opening segment was pretty decent, I'm a little mixed on it. I thought it went too long and while everyone did an ok job, just nothing really popped. The promo segment with Punk & Jim Ross was great, every bit as good as Punk & Foley last week. The use of Ryback in this segment was a perfect follow up to last week and it does pretty much confirm that Ryback is going to replace the injured John Cena. Ryback got a good response from the crowd and the fact that he stood up for the near universally beloved Jim Ross will only jack up his popularity.

Wrestling was pretty heavy and overall strong on last night's show as well. The tag team title tournament match between Mysterio & Cara and Epico & Primo was fun with a lot of energy. The match felt relevant and I like the way the tag tournament is being spread out to all the WWE tv programs. Cesaro vs. Clay was short, but it was physical and Cesaro looked damn good. He got himself a very dominant win over Clay, whose an over babyface. Cesaro's stock continues to steadily rise. The Miz vs. Zack Ryder was pretty decent, better than I expected, and the fact that Miz got a win here on tv makes me wonder if WWE is going a more traditional route with him rather than have him lose non-title matches only to rise to the occasion during title matches. Ryback vs. Tensai was pretty lame, just nothing there. Eve vs. Beth Phoenix was an ok match, again it's nice to see Divas getting actual matches. I just wish it'd been longer. Santino vs. Slater wasn't much to talk about, but it did get Encore on television. It's still too early to tell about this new group, but at least they got some Raw exposure. Sheamus vs. Sandow was an excellent match that stole the show. Sandow could've gotten by with just a good outing but he put forth a main event effort and looked like a star. Kofi vs. Del Rio was a pretty solid match, again better than I was expecting, though I wish WWE would do something with Kofi. The main event was a fun tag match and it was great to see the tag champs get the win here. The tag team division has more life and momentum now than it's had in years. Bryan & Kane are excelling in their roles as champs right now and people are consistently interested in them.

Grade: B+

People are, as usual, getting ahead of themselves far too easily. the tag division at the moment is far from great/brilliant.

They've quickly ruined what was the only enjoyable team in d.bryan & kane. The overkill with every single little quirk has grown tiresome (yes/no, "I'm the tag team champion") Why is it that modern wwe seem to pummel anything good they have until it's no longer fun? rhodes and sandow are the definition of the very same thrown together tag teams, the same that many on here complained about prior. Just because they've had a name put on them, doesn't change a thing. The other teams are interchangeable. The talented usos/colons are meaningless in how they've been used. rey/sin cara is just a team, so they can feud with each other some point soon. kofi/truth is quickly coming to an end. Maybe I'm alone, but ptp are still woeful to these eyes. young is an appalling wrestler and majorly annoying. Clearly titus is the one who has anything to him. even then, he needs away from the tag team scene. cant remember any other teams.

I just feel people are getting too far ahead of themselves waxing lyrical, as if we are in the midst of a golden era of tag team wrestling. It's better than its been but its still pretty awful.

WWE Raw 10/1/2012

Raw sucked this week in my opinion. Not a single good or entertaining match except for Sheamus's match with Damien Sandow. The rest of the show was simply crap. Even the main event match which I personally was looking forward to was just a big disappointment!! I thought Stone Cold Steve Austin would return too since they had JR's appreciation day but guess what? It DIDN'T happen.

I would give Raw a 5/10 rating.

The segment at the start of the show between CM Punk, Ziggler, Daniel Bryan and Kane was actually not bad at all. In fact, it was funny and entertaining. AJ fucked it up tho with the whole screaming crap she has been giving us for months now and with all her psychotic behavior. I think she simply ruins everything she gets involved in.

Rey Mysterio and Sin Cara vs Primo and Epico was actually not surprising at all. I mean come on, it was really obvious that Epico and Primo would eventually lose the match. I am not saying that it was a bad match or anything but too short and repetitive. It was an ok match tho. I think that Mysterio and Sin Cara are not a bad tag team after all. It's better for both of them to be in a tag team together than being in singles run.

Antonio Cesaro vs Brodus clay was actually the shortest match on Raw. Even shorter than a Ryback match (no pun intended). Even tho Brodus Clay killed the match momentum as he always does, Antonio Cesaro was impressive when he lifted Brodus Clay and slammed the shit outta him. I think Cesaro has a bright future in the WWE. Lifting someone like Brodus Clay for 10 seconds, a guy who is a 350-400 pounder is actually AWESOME.

The Miz vs Zack Ryder was a really basic match. Boring too if you don't mind. Nothing special at all. As said by Ryder himself, he thinks he is a joke and we might see a completely different side of him soon. Yes I am talking about his gimmick. Maybe he will turn heel again I don't know. Nevertheless, it was an ok match.

The debate between Sheamus and Big Show was actually ok in my opinion. I think that Sheamus crossed the line a bit tho with all the childish remarks about Big Show's loss to Daniel Bryan aka the 45 seconds match. On the other hand tho, I think Big Show completely owned Sheamus on the mic by telling him that he will rip his head off and that he won't be able to brogue kick The Big Show because he can't get his chubby legs up that high in the air. You got to admit that Big Show was on fire. The Tout that was aired was absolutely RIDICULOUS. We all know it was Sheamus who was talking behind that mask. It was the worst Tout I have ever seen so far. Also, the questions that were asked on Twitter were absolutely silly. the only thing I actually enjoyed during the debate was Big Show's comments about Sheamus. Rather than that, it wasn't at all special.

Ryback vs Tensai was an epic fail. Despite the match being too short as usual, Ryback couldn't lift Tensai..ARE YOU F'N KIDDING ME? I am not saying that Ryback is such a weak wrestler or anything because he couldn't lift Tensai but come on, we all thought he would eventually lift him. And as much as I hate to mention the fact that John Cena actually lifted Tensai before, it's something that Ryback wasn't able to do. Ryback botched his finisher by slamming Tensai clumsily to the ground then simply irish whipping him, and finally giving him a clothesline. It was the WORST match of the night. Nuff said.

Eve vs Beth Phoenix..Should I really share my opinion on that one?

Santino Marella vs Heath Slater was actually kinda funny. You know with both of them competing on who can make the other fall.. not bad actually. But of course with Heath Slater's band interfering, the match was finished early. I actually like the idea of having some backup with Heath Slater. Since it's a jobbers band, together they might actually have some slight impact I don't know.

Sheamus vs Damien Sandow was actually the highlight of the night. As Cole said, it's the best match that Sandow has had since his debut in the WWE. Sheamus capitalized at first but then Sandow somehow had control over the match for some time. Sandow was impressive. He showed that he is wrestling material. Unlike Sheamus, Sandow was actually entertaining. He cleanly performs every move and sells like a boss lol. Even tho I am not a fan of Sheamus, the double brogue kick was actually cool. All in all, it was good, lengthy match.

JR's appreciation night was obviously crashed by CM Punk. But hey I don't blame Punk for doing so. It was obvious that they didn't have anything planned to "appreciate" JR as they claimed to do. All they would have done was just make M.Cole ask JR some questions. I didn't see any balloons, a legend returning or any kind of celebration done whatsoever to appreciate JR. Bottom line, CM Punk actually saved the whole JR appreciation night in my opinion. While JR was leaving the arena as CM Punk demanded him to, Ryback's music hit and bam, he was heading towards the ring. I still think that we will have a CM Punk/Ryback feud soon. We will see.

Kofi Kingston vs Albertooooo Del Rio was a decent match. Alberto Del Rio won the match eventually; But we already know that!!

The main event of team Hell No vs CM Punk and Dolph Ziggler was obviously rushed. The match wasn't as long and entertaining as I thought it would be. Ziggler bailed on CM Punk as Punk bailed on him two weeks before. It wasn't great at all.

Well that's it for this week's Raw. Stay tuned for next week. Till then, I am out.

So this past Raw had a 2.54 rating. It was the lowest non holiday raw rating in 15 years.

I'm wondering if Vince does something drastic like taking the title off punk, or maybe getting a couple of fresh new angles going. It just feels like their is not much going on right now.

Last night on Friday Night Smackdown, David Otunga did a little promo in the ring thanking Del Rio for "taking out" Randy Orton. "Voices" hit, and the crowd popped. It took a few seconds for an appearance, but Alberto Del Rio came out, mocking Randy's attitude, posture, etc. He walked down the ramp (like Orton), entered the ring, and did Orton's pose on the turnbuckle, and proceeded to speak like Orton's "robotic" voice saying "My name is Randy Orton", followed by laughing. I'm probably the only one, but this captured my attention, and honestly made me laugh legitimately. I have never liked Alberto Del Rio. He always seemed stale and boring to me, no matter what he did. However, mocking Orton, I grew respect. Now, I know that Superstars mocking Superstars isn't original, but it was fresh to see from Rio. This segment was done right, and I applaud Del Rio and the creative writers for this angle.

My question is, what did you think of last night's segment?

I'll be honest, that was really funny I enjoyed Del Rio mocking Orton too. I think was a silent treasure to be enjoyed by the few. Not too mention how accurate he was :) and another note, for once the Divas match was pretty damn good

I thought Raw was a really strong show overall this week. While I wasn't into everything that took place on the show, like Epico & Primo being fed to Ryback, just about everything on the show served a purpose.

John Cena's opening promo was ok, it really got the crowd livened up and I think that was the real point of it. I was a little turned off by Epico & Primo being eaten by Ryback as it just really hurt their credibility going forward as a tag team. The stuff with Brodus Clay & R-Truth was pointless, but at least it was brief.

The Punk & McMahon promo was excellent. Punk is really bringing his A game to the mic these days and his slap to Vince, to me, was unexpected. Vince challenging him to a fight was an interesting idea, provided that Punk wasn't Vince's bitch. Paul Heyman did a great job of trying to be a voice of reason here, it's so unusual for him to be in such a role. They'd show Heyman backstage with Punk a couple of times later on in the night and he brings a lot to this angle in my eyes. The first time, he's still trying to be the voice of reason while the second time he basically tells Punk to go for the throat.

Rey Mysterio & Sin Cara vs. the Prime Time Players was a solid, albeit predictable match. The PTPs will have their day at some point, but the right team went over here.

Sheamus vs. Wade Barrett was a great, physical match between two big, heavy hitting wrestlers. Barrett was able to go toe to toe with Sheamus and delivered a very nice 3.25 star outing. Tensai interfering was a bit of a surprise as I thought it'd be Big Show. Big Show overpowering Sheamus at that last bit was a nice subtle touch to move their storyline along to the point of Sheamus possibly realizing he really is taking Show too lightly.

Antonio Cesaro vs. Tyson Kidd was a pretty good 4 minute match. Kidd got in a good amount of offense and Cesaro looked dominant at the same time. Cesaro is starting to get some good responses from the live fans and he looked impressive here. Team Hell No vs. Ziggler & Del Rio was a fun 3.25 star match in my eyes. It got a little slow in the middle but picked up very nicely. I would've preferred to see Del Rio take the fall here, but I'm not surprised Ziggler did. Bryan & Kane continue to be great in their current roles and they rack up another victory.

The backstage segment with Jim Ross & Vince was fun but kinda awkward. JR brought up his concern that something might happen to Vince, as he mentioned Jerry Lawler. Some will be all over this as a disgusting tactic but, personally, I think it's a viable concern. Nobody expected Jerry Lawler to have a heart attack, but it happened. Vince is 65 years old, in great shape, but 65 years old all the same.

The Larry King segment with Miz was, in all honesty, not that bad. Miz's comments towards King were honestly kinda funny and Kofi brought a lot of energy to the segment. I'm guessing we'll get Miz vs. Kofi next, which is fine with me.

The Rhodes Scholars advanced, no surprise, and they'll face Mysterio & Sin Cara next week on Raw to determine who goes against Team Hell No at HIAC.

Eve vs. Kaitlyn was, surprisingly, a decent match that told a pretty decent story. For the past several weeks in a row, the Divas have been surprising me with what I think are far better matches than what we're used to from them with a mix of storytelling to boot. I thought Kaitlyn sold her "ankle injury" well and Eve does a good job at being the insincere babyface.

The Punk & McMahon brawl was a wild and entertaining happening. I'm sure some will bitch because Vince got in some good shots on Punk, completely forgetting that CM Punk isn't a cross between Big Show & Brock Lesnar and isn't supposed to be. It looked to me like Vince had a little cut at the corner of his left eye. He & Punk went at it in a pretty damn good brawl with Punk ultimately getting the upper hand. Punk's own arrogance is what allowed Vince to build any offense in the first place. Classic heel psychology. As Punk was going for the GTS, Ryback's music hits. He comes out to a loud pop and attacks Punk with a meat hook clothesline before going for his finisher. Punk slips out and heads for higher ground. Vince declaring that Punk had to decide by next week's Raw that he'd face either Cena or Ryback at HIAC or he'd decide for him is a great hook for next week's Raw. I'm not really sure who Punk will face to be perfectly honest. WWE's legitimately generated some mystery here. Cena will probably be ready but WWE might want to give him more time to rest so they might go with Ryback.

The show was an easy B+ in my eyes, possibly even an A-. There was some strong wrestling on the show, overall solid storyline progression and good hype for HIAC even though only one match has been officially announced thus far. The first 20 minutes or so wasn't all that much to talk about, but I thought the show did great after that.

My God! Ryback's pop was insane! When did he go from Goldberg wannabe to Goldberg? It was so intense, I rewound it like 5 times and couldn't get over it. When Punk had his back to the aisle (before Cena came out) I heard the pop and was expecting Lesnar to come out of the crowd--expecting, well hoping--to set up Ryback/Lesnar, but admittedly too soon for that. But what a pop! Had an Attitude Era feel that has been missing forever.

The numbers are in for last night's show. While they're not stellar, they're more in line with what Raw usually does during this time of year.

Hour 1 of last night's show drew an average of 4.191 million viewers, hour 2 drew an average of 4.067 million and hour 3 stayed practically even with an average of 4.065 million viewers. Overall for the night, Raw drew an average audience of 4.111 million viewers. Don't know what that means as far as Nielsen Rating goes but I'm guessing it's the very high 2s or right at the 3.0 mark.

Fans tuned in for the first hour proably thinking that Vince would come out to kick things off or would be featured in the show. Viewership dropped off in the next two hours but remained consistent, especially for the third hour as fans were interested in seeing what would go down with Punk & McMahon. Again, not stellar, but Raw generally draws in the low 4 millions around this time of year.

Raw faced stiff competition again from Monday Night Football with last night's game drawing roughly 14.050 million viewers. MNF is the undisputed heavyweight of Monday nights on cable and every show that has a large built in audience suffers some during these months. American Chopper, for instance, usually draws 2.2 to 2.5 million viewers on average but it's been taking a beating, drawing only about 1.7 million viewers last night.

In overall viewers, Raw was the third most watched show on cable yesterday with Monday Night Football coming in first. The number 2 show was Major Crimes, the spin-off series from The Closer, which drew 4.333 million viewers. Raw was number two last night in male demographics behind Monday Night Football as a large number of the audience for Major Crimes are women.

I don't know about y'all, but I'm starting to see flashes of AJ-like craziness in Ricardo. And I like it. Which gives me an idea.

How about a Ricardo and AJ pairing?

Before y'all toss your cookies, hear me out.

There's no question that AJ's character is as loony as they come, and is being misused in the role of RAW GM. And Ricardo's character - that of a loyal servant to the ever obnoxious, always abusive ADR - is starting to get stale with the timid act. That's why the craziness he's been displaying lately - from him hollering "Los Tres Amigos! ARRIBA!!!" after AJ put him in a match on RAW, to his going psycho on Hornswoggle tonight - is so refreshing. And on that note, with AJ being a crazy girl and Ricardo turning into a crazy boy, I think it would be a good idea to turn them into an oncamera couple.

Think about it. They're close in age, reasonably attractive, and are over with the fans. And while it's improbable right now, I think it would work sometime down the road. And the possibilities are endless.

Ricardo and AJ pairing up could mean some awesomely hilarious segments, from making out at ringside during one of ADR's matches to stealing one of ADR's fancy-ass cars for a night on the town. Again, while it's improbable at the moment, it's crazy enough to work.

Your thoughts?

What are your thoughts on the miz new shoot style promo? I personally thought while everything he said was true it came off classless and it brought back painful memories of the triple h "black people are jokes" promo. I know for a fact that kofi will never in his life become a wwe champion so why even do a storyline like this when we already know the results.

How do you know for a fact that Kofi won't become WWE Champion? Do you have some kind of crystal ball or time machine? People said the same thing about HBK, Bret, Y2J, Rey Meysterio, etc... and they were proven wrong.

To get people talking? To entertain people? I don't know. Most of the story lines never make a lot of sense in the WWE. Better to just sit back and enjoy. And remember, never say never in the WWE. Anything can happen. :)
