I thought tonight's RAW was great. From top to bottom it was a fun show and was just overall really well done; from the King of Ring matches, to CM Punk's addition to commentary, to Orton/Barrett's rematch. The only thing I can't say I'm too fond of is the Miz winning the WWE Championship.

I thought the whole final segment, from Orton coming out, Nexus jumping him, to Barrett on the verge of winning the title only to be screwed by Cena, to Miz cashing in was great. It was built perfectly from start to finish and you have to love the ending of the show and the faces of the crowd during Miz's celebration. BUT, now that Miz has the title and its over... I have absolutely no interest in seeing the Miz as champion. I would've loved to have seen a swerve with the Miz turning out to be behind the Nexus and cashing in after Orton was jumped, or Barrett actually winning the title, or hell William Regal coming out to reveal himself as the mystery GM and helping Barrett win the title and unveiling he was behind Nexus.. anything but the Miz, by himself, as WWE champion. I don't believe the Miz as champion for a second, I find nothing great about the Miz, and I have no interest in tuning in next week to see the Miz as champion. Maybe the Miz will prove me wrong and become a success as champion and his reign will be a great one, but I doubt it.

Still, I give this week's RAW a definite A grade. Great stuff.

I dont know where to start. Last night was one of the best episodes of RAW that I have ever had the privilege of watching. I was pretty pumped the whole day and I had this odd feeling that RAW was going to be something special. Boy was I right.

Everything last night was great, with the exception of Riley and Jackson but that didnt have much potential anyway and it was actually an important part of the episode. The opening was good, but more importantly, they got the crowd going with the announcement of the championship match.

We get some good matches as part of KOTR qualifying, all with new commentator CM Punk. Awesome. Then at the hour mark, we get Cena's goodbye. What a freakin promo. He was amazing last night, getting emotional while still keeping it light. He couldnt have done it better. He made it felt so real, it was incredible.

To end the show, we have the championship match. I really did not have a clue as to what was going to happen and this uncertainty kept me on the edge of my seat. At first, I thought Barrett might actually win. When Orton won, everyone pretty much knew Miz was going to come out and cash in. When he did, I still marked out. I really like that the match between Orton and Miz was an actual match and not just a SCF and a pin. Made both guys look really good. When Miz hit the SCF, pinned Orton, and won, I was ecstatic. Dont even get me started on that little girls face.

Other than the two big, great parts of the show, other interesting things were the Bellas and Danny Bryan. No clue whats gonna happen there and I like it. Even the Divas match was decent. The show was simply outstanding all around. No way I can give this anything but a very big A+. Like I said in the LD, I thought the old school episode last week was great, but this episode just made last week look like an episode of impact. Fantastic show.

Gold Stars for 11-22-10 Monday Night Raw

2. Lay-Cool has Left the Building - This was not their best promo/segment, but the cheers from the crowd when security shut the door was priceless

1. Raw's Newest Commentator - CM Punk was just a joy to watch, ooops, Listen to last night. He kept me rolling the whole night. But the highlight to me was his ratings for the divas:
Bella’s - 4
A.Fox - 9.8
Melina - 2 (WTF!)

QOUTES FOR 11-22-10 RAW:

"10 minutes ago the most awesome competitor of all time happened to suffer an anxiety attack" - Alex Riley
"I'm right here, I'm fine." - CM Punk

"He's not serious is he, so he’s going to get in the ring with Zeke, Is he under the influence or something?" - CM Punk

"I don't know why you guys are making a big deal about Brie Bella, she’s a 4 at best."

I guess it goes to show that people can wait for Raw to find out something exciting since nothing exciting happened at the Survivor Series. I didn't watch the PPV, but I heard friends say it was terrible but the majority of people online enjoyed the show. I guess last night and the PPV were more about Cena. That way the end of the show would be about a new era with the Miz cashing in his MITB briefcase.

Raw laid out some decent matches for the upcoming King of the Ring tournament. Cena's farewell would have been great if it wasn't for the truth that he would be back in a month or two. Miz cashing in did come out of nowhere even though I did think it was odd that Alex Riley replaced Miz in the KOTR qualifying match due to anxiety issues.

Miz being champion is what WWE needs right now since Cena is on hiatus. Barrett is too new to become champion at this point, and Orton hasn't really had a phenomenal run since he became champion. Sheamus' title reign came and went so the Miz cashing in is the only thing new they could do at this point. We will have to wait and see if Miz will truly be the ratings grabber now that Cena is out of the picture. He could have a successful title run until WM 27, or he be a transitional champion.

I think WWE believes in the Miz enough for him to have a successful reign, I'm just not sure the casual fans do. It will be interesting to see how this develops. With Cena gone, the Miz has some huge shoes to fill.

Short Review i thought of:

Its 9:30 Pm, And i get this funny thought in my head. "Tune into RAW." I had totally forgotten, and was ready to See Cena's Farewell, and Orton Destroying the competition. However, as i tuned in, i found CM Punk to be commentating. To my delight, he was awesome!
"10 minutes ago the most awesome competitor of all time happened to suffer an anxiety attack" - Alex Riley
"I'm right here, I'm fine." - CM Punk
Very nice, hope it remains for a while. It gave me a fresh understanding of why we have commentators, that Cole and Lawler haven't delievered in several years in my POV.

Onto the matches,
All of the matches i enjoyed, but by far the main event blew my mind. As you can tell, I am a huge Orton Fan. So when Cena helped him beat Barrett, I Was ESTATIC. But, When Miz Cashed in the MITB, I was a little pissed.
What the fuck is this? Is most likely my thoughts during this episode of RAW, But don't get me wrong. Miz Is a tremoundous Mic Superstar, and is up and coming in the ring.

For the first time, I stayed up for RAW.

9.5/10

Last night's episode of WWE Raw following Survivor Series scored a 3.30 rating off a first hour 3.26 rating and second hour 3.34 rating.

Good Rating for Raw I thought It thought it would be higher and around the 3.5 mark. With the PPV fallout and Cena being Fired. Still a Good Rating and After Last nights really good Episode it will be interesting to see if it goes up next week.

The show delivered a pretty good rating last night, the largest it's done since early October I think.

Last night's Raw featured KOTR qualifying matches, the fall out from Survivor Series and the first time the WWE Championship has changed hands in a singles match on Raw since early July 2006. It scored a 3.30 television rating with an average of 4.86 million viewers. The first hour of the show scored a 3.26 with 4.73 million viewers and the second hour scored a 3.34 with 4.98 million viewers.

Last night's Raw was memorable and there's still several interesting angles going on and not everything was answered last night. For instance, is John Cena going to be off television and, if so, for how long? Is Wade Barrett still in the title hunt? The Miz cashing in his MITB briefcase to win the championship was a big shocker and, of course, has generated a great deal of buzz. With all that plus Raw being 3 hours next week and featuring the return of the King of the Ring tournament, I think next week's show will draw similar to this.

With so many big name stars no longer being on Raw, of which John Cena might be the next for who knows how long, I'm curious to see what kind of numbers Raw will draw after Monday Night Football goes on hiatus.

Monday Night Raw
Date: November 22, 2010
Location: Amway Center, Orlando, Florida
Commentators: Michael Cole, Jerry Lawler

It’s the final goodbye for Cena tonight I’d guess as it’s fallout time from Survivor Series. This should be interesting and to top it off we’re in TNA country in Orlando. They blew the city away at Mania in 08 so maybe they can do it again here. Let’s get to it.

We open with Nexus in the ring to nuclear heat. Barrett can barely talk. Cena is fired. Well that didn’t take long. Barrett says Cena was biased all last night and that wasn’t fair. He wants another match with Orton of course, but with a neutral referee. And there’s an E-Mail which agrees with Barrett that the ending wasn’t fair. Title match TONIGHT. Oh snap. Barrett says Cena can be here tonight and gets to say his final goodbye.

Cole confirms Cena tonight.

3 hour King of the Ring next week.

Back from a break and Cole grabs a mic. Tonight PUNK is on commentary! Ok this just got awesome. Apparently this is permanent. Oh hell yes!

King of the Ring Qualifying Match: Sheamus vs. R-Truth

Truth comes out to WHAT’S UP! Eve can’t dance. She just can’t. She looks great but she needs to just stand there and clap. Punk says if you get fired there’s no point in coming back to say goodbye. Punk says a kick is vintage as it sends Sheamus to the floor and we take a break. Back and Punk informs us that he is awesome at this. I agree.

The match is really rather boring but it’s getting some time. Granted I have my favorite wrestler as the new commentator so I’m a bit happy. Punk asks Lawler who he beat for the crown. At least he doesn’t say Elvis. Truth makes his comeback and that more or less ends his chances of winning this. Sheamus gets a freaking rollup for two. That doesn’t work so he kicks Truth’s head off instead. Big old High Cross ends this.

Rating: D+. This was a lot longer than it seems to be but at the same time I just could not get into this at all. Truth bores me to death more often than anyone else not named Christopher Daniels and he did so here too. Just not a match that got my attention at all. Granted some of that might be the total lack of any chance for Truth to win.

We get a clip from Mania with Cena on the day of his big match with Batista for the title. That arena does look cool. This is off Cena’s DVD if you didn’t get that. He says hi to some guys including Gene.

Laycool tries to get in the Raw entrance and looks DAMN good. Natalya is standing next to the guard and says she’s never seen them before.

Kozlov and Santino are upset about losing their title shot. Santino is depressed but we hear music. And Tamina is playing a ukulele and singing a song about him. She kisses him and he’s not sure how to handle it.

We cut to Orton who says it doesn’t matter who the referee is and guarantees that Barrett won’t leave with the title.

Jackson vs. Miz in a qualifying match. That could be interesting.

Del Rio vs. Show on Smackdown.

King of the Ring Qualifying Match: Ezekiel Jackson vs. The Miz

I’m intrigued by this one. And never mind as here’s Riley to replace him due to an anxiety attack.

King of the Ring Qualifying Match: Alex Riley vs. Ezekiel Jackson

If Riley wins then Miz is in the tournament, I think. Very smart booking here. More or less this is Riley’s punishment for the DUI. Take a guess how this ends.

Cena is here and talking to Truth and Eve. Santino, Yoshi and Gail come up to talk to him, apparently saying goodbye.

Here’s Cena to a BIG reaction. He says that since Orton is still champion he’s fired. Well he’s certainly blunt about things. Before he got this job he was living in his car and cleaning toilets apparently. There are a lot of things about Cena we don’t know and one of them is that he respects the company and everyone that has allowed him to be here, like Austin, HHH, HBK and Taker.

His ultimate goal was to be able to look those guys in the eye and say kid you’re alright. He talks about everything he’s missed like his niece being born and getting to be at his mom’s birthday in a few days in Massachusetts. He’s on the verge of tears here. As he’s leaving he wants the dueling chants one more time. Before that though he says make sure it’s all women and children saying Let’s Go Cena but every male over 18 says Cena Sucks. WOW that’s great.

He talks to Barrett and says to respect his fans because they’ll get him anywhere he wants to go. He even says that karma is a bitch (censored) and that it’ll come back to bite him. Apparently Billy Kidman is the producer for this segment as Cena acknowledges that he’s going to kill him for going so far over his time. He thanks the WWE Universe and leaves.

Without going to a break we look at the crowd and then go to the back where everyone applauds him. Orton comes up and they shake hands. Cena walks into the parking lot and Barrett comes up behind him and does You Can’t See Me, which literally Cena can’t see as we go to break.

King of the Ring Qualifying Match: Ted DiBiase vs. Daniel Bryan

No entrance for DiBiase. Brie Bella runs down to escort Bryan and then hangs out at ringside. Cole talks about Maryse’s shoes. DiBiase jumps him to start as more or less there’s no chance he’s winning here. Punk picks DiBiase to win the tournament. Spinebuster gets a weird looking cover for two but Bryan counters into the LeBell Lock for the relatively easy submission. No rating as this was really short.

Post match Nikki comes out and helps Bryan up. Yep they’re fighting over him. Bryan puts them together to have them hug. Ok then.

Natalya vs. Alicia Fox

Not sure if this is for the title but it doesn’t sound like it. It’s not like Alicia has a chance anyway. Punk thinks Alicia is hotter than the Bellas. Alicia pulls out a big clump of Nattie’s hair. Lawler calls her Natalie. Natalya does the delayed vertical with squats. Alicia reverses a bear hug (WTF?) but gets caught in the Sharpshooter for the easy tap out.

Rating: D. Just a long match that wasn’t very good at all. This was just way too long and not incredibly interesting. Too much standing around and hair pulls. That and Nattie should have massacred her but she didn’t for no apparent reason. Alicia looked good though. Just too long, even though it was maybe 3 minutes.

Melina slaps Morrison’s ass and he’s WAY too happy about that.

King of the Ring Qualifying Match: Tyson Kidd vs. John Morrison

Tyson has generic rock theme #87. Not a fan of that as #92 suits him better. Morrison gets a nice spin kick as Punk makes fun of him. This is far shorter than I was expecting as Morrison hits Starship Pain to win it and that’s about it. Well so much for any push for Kidd. Starship Pain hit him almost perfectly too.

The 8 SD guys in qualifying matches for the tournament are MVP, Rey Mysterio, Cody Rhodes, Jack Swagger, Big Show, Alberto Del Rio, Kofi Kingston and Drew McIntyre.

Raw World Title: Wade Barrett vs. Randy Orton

Nexus jumps Orton on the way to the ring and his knee is gone. He gets up and Harris kicks him in the knee again. The match hadn’t started yet as this was during Orton’s entrance and he came out first.

Back from a break and we’re on the announcers. And here’s Barrett on his own. I love that smirk. Cole gets an e-mail on his Blackberry as apparently the title match is continuing with Nexus barred from ringside. So we’re still going with this? I guess we are. Orton’s entrance starts again and there’s no Orton. Barrett shouts he forfeits. Ah there he is, limping BADLY.

There’s the bell as Orton is on one leg. This is legitimately exciting as I do not know what’s coming. Barrett goes straight for the knee and the fans scream for Orton. Orton gets the backbreaker out of nowhere but another shot to the knee sends Orton down. Wasteland hits….and Cena comes out of the crowd to break up the pin an FU Barrett. Damn it.

Nexus runs down to go after Cena and there’s three minutes left. Nexus is gone….and the match is still going! My heart is beating out of my chest here. Barrett and Orton are up and RKO hits to end Barrett.

Rating: A. Match was mainly Barrett hitting him in the knee and then the run ins and the RKO, ran maybe three or four minutes so call it an N/A or a C- or so. Why an A you ask? It stand for AWESOME!

IT’S MIZ, case in hand! HE CASHES IN but Orton is on his feet. GAME ON!

Raw World Title: The Miz vs. Randy Orton

Oh this is going to be good. BELL RINGS AND IT’S ON! Riley is with Miz. It’s 11pm so they have some time. Miz shoots for the knee but runs into forearms. Miz is all crouches over and finally gets the shot into the knee. Miz tries to wrap the leg around the post but is kicked off. Skull Crushing Finale is blocked and the elevated DDT is also. There’s a shot to the knee but Orton gets the powerslam.

This is awesome stuff here as the drama is just crazy. Orton sets for the RKO but Miz counters into the Finale! MIZ WINS!!!!!!! THAT REALLY JUST HAPPENED!!!

Rating: C+. This was again really short but there was one MAJOR key: Orton was at mostly full speed for awhile. He had his finisher set to go and Miz countered it and hit his own finisher to get the title. That is a huge deal and it makes Miz look far more legit. Naturally the wrestling means jack here but the ending was great and legitimately shocking.

Overall Rating: A. Sweet damn this was a fun Raw. There was a real Attitude Era feeling to this as you had to see every single part of it or you were going to miss something. The title change is huge and makes me want to watch next week’s show. Cena’s promo was probably the best all year and the ending could rival Nexus’ debut as the best ending to a show all year. The key thing here: I want to see next week. Awesome show and their second great one in a row.

Smackdown
Date: November 26, 2010
Location: Veterans Memorial Arena, Jacksonville, Florida
Commentators: Todd Grisham, Michael Cole, Matt Striker

Given what happened at Survivor Series I can’t imagine that we’ll see much other than Edge vs. Kane II set up for TLC. The focus of tonight is likely going to be on the King of the Ring matches which is where they should be. Things are looking good so far for the tournament so hopefully they set it up properly. The only announced match is Show vs. Del Rio and since I have Del Rio as my pick to win it I think you know who I have in that one. Let’s get to it.

Kane comes out to immediately open the show. With the red lights going, Kane talks about Edge stealing his papa. He appeals to the crowd about the torture that Bearer was put through last week. His promos have gotten so much better during his run that it’s insane. Kane talks about Edge breaking the law. The irony of that cracks me up.

He won’t press charges if Edge returns Paul (is he an overdue rental?) and if Edge does then won’t destroy him. Kane has feelings apparently and is a human being. He is NOT an animal. The champ says he loves all of the holidays, including Kwanza. That’s a very amusing image.

Edge’s music finally hits and the pop is HUGE. He comes out with the empty wheelchair just like at the PPV. Bearer is here tonight and all Kane has to do is ask. Kane screams again and Edge says to watch the attitude as apparently his daddy didn’t teach him manners. Kane asks more nicely and Edge says you didn’t use the magic word. We get a shout from the crowd of PLEASE which is rather funny.

Edge is toying with him here and it’s very funny stuff. “That was not a proper please at all.” The fans chant on your knees. Well these two were both dating/married to Lita so they have that in common I guess. Someone explain what the punchline was supposed to be there as I’m not sure myself. Edge leaves with the wheelchair after he determines that Kane didn’t mean any of that request.

King of the Ring Qualifying Match: Jack Swagger vs. Kofi Kingston

Swagger has the Eagle with him and eagles are awesome. This is happening because Swagger made Kofi tap at Survivor Series. Nothing wrong with having a little reason like that to make a match more sensible. Striker goes over some major KOTR moments which is always kind of cool. I’m still trying to get used to them including the ones from the 80s.

LOUD let’s go Kofi chant. Kofi gets a sloppy rollup for two. Make that three of them, all for two. Why can’t he trade some of those twos in for three? There’s a tale of the tape on WWE.com between the Soaring Eagle and the Gobbledy Gooker. That could be hysterical.

Ankle lock almost goes on but Kofi avoids and hits a rotating cross body off the middle rope. This is a pretty nice back and forth match so far. Kofi goes for that spinning leapfrog of his but his leg lands on Swagger’s shoulder. Swagger goes for the leg and Oklahoma takes control.

Kofi, on the mat, grabs the bottom rope and backflips through the bottom and middle rope to take a break which we’ll do as well. Back with Kofi hitting a monkey flip but the Eagle trips him up and Swagger gets a boot to the head to take over again. They hit the mat where of course Swagger dominates.

The Eagle taunts Kofi. That’s funny as Kofi went to Boston College where the mascot is the Golden Eagle. Wouldn’t being made of metal make it hard to fly? Striker calls him Swags and Cole gets on him about saying a stupid nickname. Striker says he’s a friend. Cole says announcers have no friends. Striker: “Your friends are The Miz, Josh Matthews and a laptop.” That made me laugh.

Swagger sends him into the middle turnbuckle and they head to the floor. Swagger pulls him up by the wrist, which Striker says makes Kofi realize there’s a 6’6 260lb man pulling on him. Really he can tell the exact height and weight just like that? That’s rather impressive. He could make a killing as a carnival guesser with skills like those.

Kofi starts a comeback with kicks and punches. Swagger goes for a suplex but Kofi sends him into the bottom turnbuckle. Swagger lays on the ropes so Kofi hits the Boom Drop there. That was different. Kofi heads up and Swagger catches him in mid air and slams him in the corner to set up the Vader Bomb but it eats boots.

Pendulum Kick is caught in the ankle lock but Kofi is on the ropes. He uses a nice leverage move to swing Swagger into the post with his shoulder hitting. Trouble in Paradise connects and they mess up the pin a bit as Swagger is close to the ropes so Kofi has to raise his head for the cover which brings up his shoulder. It’s counted anyway but that’s minor I guess. Match ran almost 17:00 with 13:30 shown, assuming 3:30 for commercials.

Rating: B. I liked this as they were able to flesh this out a lot. Like I’ve said so often that’s what you get on Smackdown that you don’t get on other shows: they have time to get some stuff out there and get it working. This is a match where Swagger didn’t look weak for once and Kofi got the win, so neither guy looks bad at all. Solid match. That kick was AWESOME too.

Kane apologizes to Teddy for destroying his office last week. Teddy says he never knew his father but it didn’t hurt him. Edge pops up on a monitor and says he never knew his dad either. He lets off Bearer’s tape who goes on a huge rant ending with him shouting BASTARDS!

Back from a break and Kane is still looking for Bearer but only finds the wheelchair. Oh and there’s a sign that says GONE FISHIN.

Josh talks to Alberto who says that at Survivor Series he learned to never share the spotlight with people that aren’t his equals. Show isn’t his equal so tonight he’ll win and Monday he’ll be king.

King of the Ring Qualifying Match: Big Show vs. Alberto Del Rio

Alberto has the Rolls Royce out there tonight. This show is going by really fast. Show goes for a chokeslam off the top early but Alberto jumps to the floor to escape as we take a break. Back with Alberto not being able to do anything. He takes the big chop in the corner and is reeling.

Alberto gets a shot to the knee to take the big man down. A dropkick to the knee doesn’t drop him a second time though so he just drills Alberto. The running enziguri hits Show in the shoulder. Cross armbreaker doesn’t work as Show is just WAY too big.

Show sets for the punch but Alberto hits the floor. Show goes after him and the ring announcer distracts him for the count out, even though the referee stopped counting and started again without resetting. Match ran about 8:30 with 5:00 shown.

Rating: D+. I’m really not a fan of the formula where one guy dominates and then the other gets a fluke win like this. Del Rio couldn’t hurt Show at all here and Show shrugged off his finisher. Also, Show can’t shove away the announcer that easily? I didn’t like this at all really.

As Del Rio is leaving we hear Edge’s voice saying hey we’re up here. We cut to Bearer and Edge in a section near the back of the arena. Bearer screams some more and Kane comes out on the stage. Edge threatens to shove Bearer down the stairs. The tape comes off and Bearer screams about how much he hates the people here.

Kane says that this is all about getting another title shot for Edge so he’s got it. Edge offers to let Kane come up and join them so Edge says they’re going to the hot dog stand so Paul can be more comfortable. Kane goes through the crowd to get to them but only finds the wheelchair.

King of the Ring Qualifying Match: MVP vs. Drew McIntyre

McIntyre talks a lot of smack as we start. MVP gets a running knee to the back of the head for two. That sounded awesome. They hit the floor as this is an odd looking match. They’re going more like a street fight rather than wrestling and I’m not liking it that well. Drew works on the arm with some shots of it going into the post.

That’s definitely the focus of the match as Drew works over it the entire time. MVP gets a quick shot in to slow Drew down and then some basic stuff to keep on offense. He keeps selling the arm very well and falls backwards when Drew hits it.

In a nice ending, MVP goes into the corner and tries to jump in the air so he can jump over Drew using the ropes to launch himself (I can’t think of the term for it but it’s been done a ton before. MVP would go over Drew’s back and land behind him.) but his arm gives out and the Futureshock ends it at 5:45.

Rating: D+. This was just odd. They were either going for a completely different style here or they were very bad out there. It was more like they were trying to be all mad at each other or something but it came off looking weird and sloppy at times. I couldn’t get into this and it was hard to describe.

Swagger freaks out on the Eagle backstage while Horny is dressed like an Indian. Rosa brings him a big turkey but it’s burned. The Eagle walks past so Horny grabs a bow and arrow and shoots the bird off screen. Please let that end the “comedy” tonight.

Laycool comes out looking great as they complain about how bad their week has been. This is Michelle’s hometown apparently. And they’re kidding. Ok then.

Michelle McCool vs. Kelly Kelly

Can we get another match please? Rollup doesn’t get a count almost immediately as they’re going very fast out there. Michelle drapes her over the top rope and tries to get the Faithbreaker but Kelly hangs on. She gets a rollup out of nowhere to pin Michelle after just over a minute. No rating obviously.

Laycool beats down Kelly post match until Beth comes out to promptly destroy Michelle.

We recap Raw which still blows my mind. Awesome show.

King of the Ring Qualifying Match: Rey Mysterio vs. Cody Rhodes

I look forward to watching Cody every week. I truly do. Does ANYONE nail their role like he does? Cody throws Striker the new Dashing Cody Rhodes t-shirt which comes complete with a mirror. Again, is anyone as perfect as he is in their role? Alberto comes out to watch this match and likely cost Rey something.

Cole hugs Alberto while Striker puts the shirt on. Alberto does commentary here and Rey starts off fast. Big swinging kick misses and Cody nearly has a heart attack from it. He hits the floor and needs his mirror. Rey doesn’t like that idea and goes back after him. Beautiful Disaster takes Rey down on the floor as we…don’t take a break. Sounded like we were going to but I guess not.

Alabama Slam gets two. Ah there’s the break. Back with Cody with an armbar and in solid control. Alberto is asked what he thinks of Cody and he won’t answer. Rey knocks him off the top and hits the Seated Senton and a cross body both for two. Cody can’t get Cross Rhodes and Rey gets a rollup for two.

Backslide gets two for Cody. There’s that big kick to the face by Rey which also gets two. He goes for the 619 but Alberto gets his attention. Del Rio gets a seated senton for his troubles. Back in the ring and Cody is knocked into the referee, allowing Del Rio to crotch Rey on the post. Cross Rhodes ends it immediately afterwards at 5:40 shown of 9:10 total.

Rating: B-. Pretty solid stuff here. Alberto’s interference wasn’t anything huge but it did the job properly. It wasn’t a classic or anything but for a TV main event this was fine. Cody going into the tournament is an interesting thing and it also opens a door for Alberto to be eliminated as Rey will want revenge. Most interesting and a decent match too.

With very little time left we cut to the back with Teddy as Kane comes in. He’s all mad and such and blames Teddy for it. Edge pops up on the monitor again (How does he do that???) and is in the parking lot with Bearer. He says Jacksonville, Florida over and over to get more and more cheap pops. Well Foley did say that only his good stuff got stolen.

Edge says Kane can come and get Paul. Kane leaves Teddy’s office and we cut to the parking lot. As he comes for him, a car rams into Bearer and….decapitates him? That’s not very PG. Ah it was just a stuffed dummy. Well how can you tell them apart? Edge is driving of course and has Bearer in the back seat, driving away as we go off the air.

Overall Rating: B. Another good show here with lots of stuff happening. This was primarily to set up the KOTR stuff as well as giving us the SD main event at the PPV. With five matches and four of them being solid, it’s hard to say this was anything but good. The King of the Ring is going to be very fun and this was nothing short of what you expect from Smackdown. Another good show.

WWE Friday Night SmackDown! - November 26, 2010

Kane, Paul Bearer & Edge - They featured several segments following this kidnapping angle from recent weeks so I'll lump them all together. I don't like the kidnapping angle all that much but I do believe that both Kane & Edge were used better than they have been in recent weeks. Edge is acting more like himself lately instead of channeling his inner Joker and threatening Paul Bearer and Kane isn't crying like a little bitch, so that's a good improvement. Overall, I thought that this overall angle tonight was pretty decent. I wish that they hadn't gone in this direction and tried to make Kane seem more "human", but what they did tonight was decent and pretty passable. Thumbs Up

Jack Swagger vs. Kofi Kingston - This was a great match that they had. I like the pace that was set during the match and a great mesh of styles. Swagger & Kofi have great chemistry and put on a damn good opening match. There were certain times I thought it had an old school feel about it with the heel being in command for a generous portion. I like Swagger's ground and pound strategy and it's nice to see someone with legit wrestling ability use some of it in his matches. Kofi was energetic as always and the crowd was very much behind him. There were a few sloppy spots, such as when Kofi botched the leap frog but I think that was a combo of him simply not leaping high enough and Swagger didn't really duck down low enough, but they recovered nicely. This match had a lot of time and went around the 17.5 minute mark, which gave them lots of time to flesh things out. Kofi gets the win after hitting Trouble in Paradise to be the first SmackDown! wrestler to qualify for King of the Ring. Thumbs Up

The Big Show vs. Alberto Del Rio - This match was about what I expected it to be with Show dominating most of it. Del Rio, as a character, did show some guts by going after Show and he did get him off his feet a few times. The match goes about 8 minutes, a little more maybe, and Show gets counted out due to Roberto Rondriguez holding onto his ankle. It wasn't a bad match really, just sort of what we're used to from Show. What I'm happy about is that Show won't be in KOTR this Monday, that's great news as we don't have to sit through another one of his matches. Given the outcome coupled with everything here, this wasn't bad. It wasn't great either but Big Show as in it, so whaddaya want? Thumbs Up

Drew McIntyre vs. MVP - This match was pretty short, about 5.5 minutes but it seemed pretty physical to me and told a good story. I like that these two have sort of been going back and forth in recent weeks with one guy winning a match and the other one winning the next time around. I thought that MVP did a good job of selling his arm injury during the match and McIntyre looked more aggressive than I've seen him in a while. McIntyre gets a clean win via the Future Shock DDT. Pretty good while it lasted for me. Thumbs Up

Hornswoggle - The little Thanksgiving thing they did with Hornswoggle wasn't really horrible, but it was still pretty bad and pointless. To be perfectly honest, I wish that they'd have just scrapped this segment and use the time that it took up and given it to the McIntyre/MVP match. Thumbs Down

Michelle McCool vs. Kelly Kelly - The usual we get most of the time from Divas on Raw or SD!. The match lasted about a minute with Kelly Kelly getting the win cleanly. Beth Phoenix shows up and cleans house after LayCool beats down on Kelly. Prior to the match, LayCool was out there doing their thing on the mic and all. Another pointless segment with time that could've been devoted to something better. Thumbs Down

Rey Mysterio vs. Dashing Cody Rhodes - Rey & Cody had a pretty fun match to close things out with. Nothing overly spectacular happened but there was some good action throughout with Mysterio hitting his usual high energy offense. Alberto Del Rio came to ringside before the bell and was doing some commentary. I do like that he stayed quite for most of his time out there as it didn't distract from the match. Rey accidentally hits Del Rio with a seated senton, he was aiming for Cody, but Cody ducked on the outside. The ref gets knocked down momentarily, haven't seen that in WWE for a while, and Del Rio interferes by pulling Mysterio crotch first into the ring post. Cody then hits Cross Rhodes for the pin about the 8.5 minute mark. Very solid effort on the part of these two to give Rhodes the final spot in the KOTR tournament on Raw this Monday. Thumbs Up

Overall Show - SmackDown! delivered another very solid show tonight. Most of Raw was devoted to the angle with Cena's firing along with Orton & Barrett so the overall wrestling content of SmackDown! was much stronger than Raw. The SmackDown! participants for KOTR are Kofi Kingston, Drew McIntyre, Alberto Del Rio & Dashing Cody Rhodes. Great cast of young wrestlers that will be center stage on Raw this Monday. As for Kane & Edge, I still don't like the kidnapping storyline they've got going, but I do think that both of them were used much better tonight than they have the past few weeks. Aside from a few weak segments that included Hornswoggle & LayCool, tonight's show was quite fun.

Grade: B

Gold Stars for 11-26-10 Smackdown!

2. Drew McIntyre vs. MVP - Very entertaining match that kept my attention. The match was fun and faced paced, and it was nice to see MVP get a win though I could've of sworn Drew was going to KOTR

1. Cody Rhodes vs. Rey Mysterio - It was very nice to see Rhodes in the ME match, though it did not close to show. I was sure that Mysterio and Alberto was going to be in KOTR together, so Cody winning was also a nice surprise.

QOUTES FOR 11-26-10 SMACKDOWN!

"Announcers don't have friends" - Michael Cole

"What do you call Kofi Kingston?" - Todd Grisham
"K.O.F.I" - Matt Striker

"A much warmer reception for the Eagle Wood High School graduate." - Todd Grisham
"Kelly Kelly really graduated high school?" - Matt Striker

Although cm punk is doing a great job on commentary, I know you all heard him spoil the finals of the KOTR tourny right before the sheamus and kofi match. Smh, I'm sure he got an earful in the headset after that.

Monday Night Raw
Date: November 29, 2010
Location: Wells Fargo Center, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
Commentators: Michael Cole, Jerry Lawler, CM Punk
Guest Star: Rima Fakih

Tonight is a special three hour show and it’s the King of the Ring. It’s also the beginning of the Miz Era. I’ve got my money on Del Rio or Morrison winning this so let’s see if I’m right. The show is starting now so let’s get to it.

We open with a recap of the end of Raw last week which saw Barrett and Nexus jump Orton to injure his knee. Cena ran in and cost Barrett the title as Orton hit the RKO to retain. Miz ran in and won the title. Again notice that Orton had him beaten and Miz simply countered and won the title. That says a lot about him.

Cue theme song.

Miz is here tonight.

We see the King of the Ring stuff and get a quick history of it with them even mentioning the 1985 tournament.

Here’s Alex Riley saying the Miz is WWE Champion. I’m not used to seeing him in a suit. Cole applauds which cracks me up. Riley runs down Punk’s commentary and references not being afraid of a party which I think is a reference to his DUI. There’s going to be a party for Miz. Punk directly says it was a DUI. Most interesting.

King of the Ring Quarter-Finals: Alberto Del Rio vs. Daniel Bryan

Rodriguez has a big old black eye due to Show drilling him on Friday. Punk is in an I heart Colt shirt which is an ROH shout out I guess. Here are the brackets.

Del Rio
Bryan

Morrison
Cody Rhodes

Jackson
McIntyre

Kingston
Sheamus

Not bad at all. This should be solid. Cole and Punk get into it almost already with Del Rio starting strong. The smart crowd in Philly is of course all behind Bryan. Cole asks Lawler again why he’s a King. Apparently he was born one. Del Rio is from a kingly family so are they some kind of brothers? LeBell Lock is avoided as we take a break with Punk saying there are two kings and a queen on commentary. Well ok then.

Back with Del Rio holding Bryan down in a chinlock. King of the Ring winners have won a combined 62 world titles according to Cole which was told to him by the WWE’s Chief Statistician: the Fink. Bryan fights out for a bit which gets him nowhere. An elbow misses and Bryan gets a crucifix for two.

They reverse standing switches and Bryan gets a German on the Mexican for two in the former capital of America. Bryan is all fired up and hits a running dropkick in the corner for two. Del Rip gets a German of his own for two. Suicide Dive to the floor by Bryan takes out Del Rip but he might have hurt his own shoulder. That tends to happen to him every time he does that move. Here’s a hint: DON’T DO THAT ANYMORE!

He goes up but misses the dropkick and hurts the arm again. Del Rio gets his evil smile into the Cross Armbreaker and Bryan taps out to send Del Rio to the semi-finals. I’m right so far at about 6:00 shown of 9:30 (I assume 3:30 for a commercial to clear up any confusion there).

Rating: C+. This was a bit underwhelming but it wasn’t bad. The shoulder played into the ending which is fine for basic psychology so there’s that at least. This wasn’t great at all and I’m not sure if it’s smart to have the US Champion lose clean but it could have been worse.

We look at some former winners of the tournament including Edge, Austin, HHH, Bret and Brock (WOW. I didn’t think I’d see him on WWE TV anymore).

Here’s R-Truth for not a match apparently. More What’s Up here but no Eve. Well at least we don’t have to see bad dancing. White ropes tonight which I kind of like for some reason. He’s here to talk about Cena and how he went out like a champ last week. The war hasn’t started yet apparently. I have no idea what he’s talking about. Ah it’s a challenge to Nexus. He’ll fight any member right now.

We throw it to Josh in the back at the Nexus locker room door. What a great coincidence that he was standing there. McGillicutty (just call him Joe Hennig already) accepts with a new Nexus shirt. On the way though he’s jumped by someone in jean shorts but the camera goes down. They pick him up and give him what looks like an FU and with the Cena wristband does the You Can’t See Me motion to the down camera. Cool.

Back with Cole FREAKING over Miz being champion here. They talk about what just happened a bit with Punk saying it’s clearly Cena.

King of the Ring Quarter-Finals: Cody Rhodes vs. John Morrison

So there’s more or less no way Rhodes wins here is there? It’s a shame as I really like him. He plays his character as well as anyone else in the company right now. I need more grooming tips though. Punk says he was King of the Ring and won the 92 tournament in Rio De Janeiro. I think that was the same tournament where Buddy Rogers won the first WWWF Title. I think that’s true.

Morrison gets a shot to the face and Cody hits the floor in anger. More stuff to the face as that’s like a weakness in an SNES game. Cody in control now with a Russian leg sweep with a floatover for two. Punk talks about Bragging Rights for the brand that wins and I roll my eyes. There are so many good lines from him that I can’t keep up with them all.

Morrison comes back with clotheslines and Cody is in a bit of trouble. The running knee misses though and we’re back to about even. Both guys go for their springboard kicks at the same time but Morrison’s hits, followed by the running knee to send him to face Alberto. I guess that’s his new finisher. Match ran about 3:45.

Rating: C+. This was a bit better than the previous match due to the pacing of it. It’s nothing great again but considering this is more or less a bonus to what we usually get from the show as this is an hour early. Not a bad match but just filling time before we get to the real meat of the show I think.

The new Miss USA is the guest star. That’s news to me. Thanks for telling us that in the first 40 minutes.

King of the Ring Quarter-Finals: Drew McIntyre vs. Ezekiel Jackson

What in the world happened to Drew? He was supposed to be awesome and now he’s going to get destroyed by the second coming of Ahmed Johnson. Hearing Punk do ads is just odd indeed. Both guys have good songs at least. Jackson destroys him with clotheslines and power to start. Drew might have gotten a turnbuckle pad off but only Punk sees it.

And apparently he’s right as a single shot to it puts Jackson down for two. Punk says he’s a wrestler but Cole corrects him by saying he’s a Superstar. Well at least they admitted it. Drew in control now but both guys go to the floor. They fight up the aisle and I have a bad feeling about this. Drew jumps off the railing and takes down Jackson. Some ground and pound occurs both ways and it’s a double countout at about 2:50.

Rating: N/A. This was too short to really get anything going and as a rule if a match doesn’t go 3:00 I don’t grade it. Both guys are eliminated so Sheamus or Kofi is going to the finals. This was ok but it wasn’t anything special at all with the ending being seen a mile away once they hit the floor.

We’re 52 minutes into the show and have three KOTR matches left.

The Bellas hit on Bryan again and Riley, wearing a Bluetooth, interrupts. They were supposed to get the 50 dancing girls and not talking to Bryan. Miz calls and gets on Riley for wasting time I guess. Riley fires the Bellas. I’m liking this so far.

Back and we see the same thing we saw earlier with the Nexus attack and Miz stealing the title. I guess this is the opening for the regular show in case you missed the first hour.

Here’s The Miz. I love that song and have it on my Ipod. WOW that belt looks insane on him. Cole literally is jumping up and down in happiness. Miz is wearing what looks almost like a plaid suit. He says he’s found something that sums up the feeling and it’s the DEMON CHILD! Miz thanks her for reminding him of his struggle to get here.

He lists off all the people that have said he’d never do it. I still say he’s the modern day Roddy Piper because he keeps proving people wrong. He calls out JBL, HHH and Cena. He says to them that he’s WWE Champion! And now we get to the elephant in the room and it’s Randy Orton. He’s not here tonight due to his knee but Miz says it’s Orton’s pride that is hurt.

Finally he says if anyone ever tells you that you can’t do something, believe them. All of you are nothing special but he’s not like you. He’s something special and is one in a billion. Miz calls out Piper, saying that Piper said in his day people made things happen. What did Piper ever make happen? He has Riley hold up the WWE Championship History book and calls out people that never won the world title like Steamboat, Perfect and Piper.

Of all people, Jerry Lawler interrupts him. He says his name is on the list of people. Miz runs him down so Cole talks down Lawler and praises Miz. Lawler says you should give someone fresh a title shot. Somehow Lawler winds up getting a title match. Yeah this is going to make Miz look great. Lawler conned him into it more or less.

We get this interrupted by an E-Mail. This of course makes Lawler the official first challenger. Seriously, Jerry Lawler? That’s the best they can do/ And it’s not even in Memphis. There’s more though and apparently it’s a TLC match. Apparently it’s Lawler’s birthday. That makes it no better at all.

King of the Ring Quarter-Finals: Kofi Kingston vs. Sheamus

This is more or less a semi-final match. Sheamus destroys him to start with power moves and the Irish Curse for two. Punk points out that he carried Kofi to his first title in WWE. A graphic on the bottom says Kofi has his own PPV Special all December. He’s that big of a deal already? Really? Kofi wakes up a bit I guess to advertise the PPV, hitting the Boom Drop for two.

High Cross is reversed and Kofi gets Trouble in Paradise. The Irishman lands under the ropes to buy time though like a true former champion. Pendulum Kick has Sheamus in trouble. Kofi jumps off the top right into the Brogue Kick and is more or less dead to end it in about 4:30.

Rating: B-. I liked this a good bit here as both guys had the chance to look good. Sheamus looked like he was thinking out there which is always the best thing you can ask for. This worked pretty well and it gives Sheamus a credible win. I can’t imagine he’ll get anyone but Morrison in the finals but odder things have happened.

Yoshi Tatsu/Mark Henry vs. Heath Slater/Justin Gabriel

This is non-title. Yoshi vs. Gabriel to start but Slater is in maybe 30 seconds in. And now back off to Gabriel. JOHN CENA shows up, ticket in hand. Cena has like five tickets in his hand. Justin Gabriel has a beard now. Henry comes in and does what he can. Slater goes up and yells at Cena but gets caught in the World’s Strongest Slam at 2:30. Post match Cena jumps the barrier and hits an FU on Slater through the table. Punk: THIS ISN’T THE SPANISH ANNOUNCE TABLE! No rating as the vast majority was just Cena stuff.

How is this show only half over?

After a quick recap of what Cena has done tonight we see Harris, Gabriel (looking WEIRD with the beard) and Otunga saying they’re sitting ducks. Barrett says there’s nothing to worry about and this ends tonight. He’s going to call out Cena tonight.

Lawler is getting ready and Arn Anderson comes in to talk to him. Lucky that Lawler has his gear with him tonight. Arn says TLC matches are dangerous. Nice to see us tapping into Anderson’s experience in TLC matches.

King of the Ring Semi-Finals: John Morrison vs. Alberto Del Rio

Winner gets Sheamus in the finals. We take a break before Morrison’s entrance. Back with Morrison’s entrance and the screaming girls’ pop. Punk talks about why Regal isn’t in this and apparently he’s taking a sabbatical. We actually get a Mabel reference. Del Rio works on the arm as Punk and Cole argue. The Mexican Aristocrat controls with a running enziguri in the corner.

The car horn starts going off and it’s Rey in the driver’s seat. Morrison takes the distraction for the Flash Kick to end it and go to the finals at approximately 3:00 (I forgot to check the clock when it started).

Rating: C. This was just ok as nothing really had the chance to happen in it. The car thing was brilliant and the kick to the head was perfect as it caught Del Rio right in the face. Morrison vs. Sheamus as the final is fine as I had Morrison as the second best option for the winner. I like it.

Two Raw guys in the finals. Nice to see Smackdown getting a chance.

Raw Rebound is the ending of the WWE Title match (the first one) from last week.

Barrett comes out to call out Cena. So he’s calling out fans now? He says he’s the only person on the planet with the power to get him his job back. So he has a higher clearance than Vince? Barrett says there’s no way he’s going to get Barrett to reinstate him to get his job back. Cena pops up on the screen and says this in’t business as usual. He appears to be outside.

He says he’s going to take out each member of the Nexus which gets a huge pop. Barrett sends security to the parking lot to get him. Cena says that WWE security, the same security that Nexus beat the hell out of on their first night on Raw isn’t going to be in a rush to help them.

Guys that look like Otunga, Harris and Gabriel come up to Cena and he gets scared. Ah it is them as they had their backs turned. He says he’s not their only enemy, and the Raw roster of jobbers jump Nexus. Cena FUs Gabriel on a car hood. Cena says this does not stop until he gets his hands on everyone so he’ll see you next week.

We come back with a recap of what just happened.

Maryse/Tamina/Alicia Fox vs. Gail Kim/Melina/Natalya

We see a clip of Tamina playing the ukulele and kissing Santino last week which is still very odd. Big sign a few rows back: I HATE MELINA. Melina gets beaten down for the most part as the announcers make fun of Tamina’s odd choice in clothes. And here comes Santino with a microphone and a guitar to sing something that might be English. Yeah I think it is. Ah it’s a Tiffany song.

The match just completely stops for this as Tamina kisses Santino again. Ok no she doesn’t as she puts her arm around his head and walks him away. Melina finally makes a tag and Natlya destroys Alicia to end it WITH THE Sharpshooter in about three and a half minutes. No rating since the vast majority was the Santino bit. Gail was never in.

We get a video package on the career of Lawler. This is the perk of them owning EVERYTHING as they can throw together clips like these at the drop of a hat. We even get the Kaufmann feud.

Back from a break we see Ted DiBiase playing with a toy WWE Title when Maryse comes in. She yells at him and asks him what kind of a man he is. He FINALLY snaps on her and hits something before leaving.

Otunga and Harris are all scared about going anywhere. They don’t find anything.

We go to Matthews in the back who has Morrison and Sheamus. The difference in their skin tone is striking. Sheamus talks about Morrison being slim pickings due to being all banged up. Morrison says nothing of note.

The finals are next.

King of the Ring: Sheamus vs. John Morrison

The Miss USA chick does the intros. Thanks for coming hon. Flash Kick is blocked early on. We take a break with Morrison on the floor holding his bad arm. Back with Sheamus working away on the arm and Morrison is in big trouble. Punk’s chair breaks so he makes fun of the company for not fixing anything.

After a decent little beating Morrison makes his comeback to hammer away but Sheamus just shrugs it off. That’s a good monster heel. Brogue kick misses but a running double axe handle (Irish Hammer?) spins Morrison inside out for two. High Cross is blocked into a backslide attempt but Sheamus is too tall. Morrison gets a nice spinout DDT for two as Sheamus grabs the rope.

Running knee is blocked and Morrison may have a bad knee now. Morrison counters some more and goes up, only to get pulled down HARD by the bad arm for two. The kickout gets a nice pop. Fujiwara Armbar by Sheamus as Punk is in big trouble. No tap though as they get up again. Back to the armbar again with a nice counter but STILL no tap. Morrison flips forward and kicks Sheamus in the head to escape.

Another kick sends Sheamus down and Sheamus lands in position for Starship Pain. It eats knees and allegedly the arm which didn’t exactly look like it hit to me. Brogue Kick hits and the High Cross kills Morrison dead to make Sheamus your 2010 King of the Ring at approximately 8:30 shown of 12:00.

Rating: B-. Sheamus winning works for me kind of as it keeps him in the spotlight and Morrison tries as hard as he can but just doesn’t have it. This was a pretty decent match as these two continue to have good chemistry together. The replay shows the Starship Pain clearly hitting the left arm which is a nice touch. Decent match but not a classic.

Miss USA presents Sheamus with his King schwag. Sheamus says Long Live The King and throws off the robe for some reason.

Back and there are six ladders around the ring.

Raw World Title: The Miz vs. Jerry Lawler

Read that title. At the beginning of the year would you EVER expect this to be a TLC match and the main event of Raw? Riley still has the briefcase. They do a feeling out process to start with Lawler doing his basic stuff. First weapon brought in is a C which is cracked over Lawler’s back. Miz sets up some chairs in the and is almost suplexed onto them. Miz drops Lawler onto his knee and then hits a neckbreaker to put the King down.

Riley gets a ladder but Lawler manages to get a chair and wear Miz out for it. He goes to get his own ladder but has to drill Riley first. Lawler slams the top of the ladder into Miz’s chin and is in control. And scratch that as he misses with a ladder shot and Miz takes over again. Riley takes Lawler down but gets put down and through a table. Miz was dropped on a ladder so he’s still hurt a bit.

Lawler does the slow climb but here’s Miz with the save. Big boot (from Miz? Really?) takes the King down though. Punk: “CLIMB UP THE LADDER! Are you stupid?” Miz destroys him for a bit but gets caught on top while he’s holding a chair. Lawler sets for a superplex but the ladder is in the way. Instead he drills Miz and puts him through a table but Lawler is down.

Cole jumps out of his chair and tries to help Miz up. Lawler is all alone but climbs like a 62 year old man. He’s only 61 if you’re wondering. He starts the climb and COLE MAKES THE SAVE! Lawler finally drills Cole and hammers away at him but Miz climbs up as he hammers his partner. Lawler goes up and Miz is in trouble! Come on Jerry you’ve had enough titles you should know how to unlatch one. Miz is reeling! But he manages to hit Lawler with the belt and climb down to retain at approximately 13:00. A brief celebration ends the show.

Rating: C+. Considering the challenger was a 61 year old that wrestles about three times a year and Michael Cole was the only thing that made the save, this was more or less a miracle. I cracked up at Cole making the save. This was better than I expected and it came off pretty well. No one really bought Lawler having a legit chance so this worked fine, all things considered.

Overall Rating: B-. This was pretty fun overall but it really wasn’t all that great for some reason. Sheamus being the King helps a bit and the shockingly good main event helped a lot. It’s not a great show by any stretch but it was fun and did what it was supposed to do. Nice win by Miz and the heels rule the night. I liked this for the most part and thought it had some good moments. Pretty solid show.

Pretty fun RAW tonight from Philly

Liked the TLC Match, not sure what Cole was doing other than he loves The Miz. Did enjoy King punching him out though. Maybe Jim Ross can come back now. (one can hope anyway)

KOTR Tourney was good,Great Finals with Morrison & Sheamus. Was waiting for HHH to come out but no big deal.

Cena causing mayhem was good and taking out Gabriel,Slater, and Hennig.

CM Punk gold on Commentary again

Santino singing was hilarious

WWE Monday Night Raw - November 29, 2010

Alex Riley - Alex Riley starts off by coming out onto the stage dressed in a suit. He puts over The Miz, as expected, and does a good job at it. I think Riley is pretty damn good on the mic and I was surprised to hear that his DUI arrest was brought into play by both Riley himself and CM Punk on commentary. His DUI was a stupid ass move on his part in more ways than one but I'm glad to see that the WWE isn't just shying away from it like I expected them too. It's good to see them lightening up a bit and not try to contain everything in a little bubble. Thumbs Up

Daniel Bryan vs. Alberto Del Rio - This was the first match in the KOTR tournament and it was a pretty good one. It wasn't as good as some of Bryan's other matches thus far, but it was a solid 10 minute outing. The crowd was into the match and I thought that it had a nice pace to it. Bryan didn't hit as much of his usual offense in this match and I think it would've made it a bit better. Bryan hits the suicide dive on Del Rio and rams his shoulder into the barricade. He sold it well and Del Rio eventually got the win via the arm bar submission after working on the injured shoulder a bit. I would have liked to have seen Bryan go further in the tourney and it would've made more sense for Del Rio to cheat to get the win, but it was a fun match overall and Del Rio advances. Thumbs Up

R-Truth - I was a little surprised to see Truth come out and do a promo as it's usually not his thing. It wasn't anything overly spectacular but I thought the guy did a solid job. Truth continued to remind everyone of the John Cena situation and challenged any member of Nexus to a match. The camera flips to backstage and Michael McGuillicutty steps up but is attacked a little bit from The Nexus locker room by John Cena, even though Cena is never actually seen on camera. I cringed as I thought "Juan Cena" was going to make his debut. There wasn't anything special here but it was passable. Thumbs Up[/]

John Morrison vs. Dashing Cody Rhodes - Pretty good match while it lasted. Morrison & Rhodes I think could have a good chemistry together and they put It set a good pace and I thought it was quite solid while it lasted. I wish it would have lasted longer but I thought they did well with the time they were given. JoMo gets the win at roughly the 4 minute mark. Thumbs Up

Drew McIntyre vs. Ezekiel Jackson - This match lasted under 3 minutes and both guys got counted out. It just didn't really do it for me due to that because, as a result, someone is automatically going to get a buy into the tourney finals. One thing that I will say, however, is that I liked that Drew McIntyre took it to Big Zeke the entire time. McIntyre was aggressive and both guys delivered some good hard hitting shots out there. I expected McIntyre to basically get tossed around all over the place, getting dominated by Zeke and managing to sneak in a win by getting Zeke counted out. McIntyre held his own, however, and did look good against Zeke. However, the cheap finish just kinda left me cold. Otherwise, it was pretty decent while it lasted and better than what one would've expected. Thumbs Down

The Miz & Jerry Lawler - The Miz came out at the top of the 9 pm hour to give his first promo as WWE Champion. I thought Miz did a great job on the mic tonight even though we didn't really hear anything new from him. However, he did address some of the past instances in which he's basically been written off as a joke or treated like crap and I thought that was appropriate given that he's accomplished what most people would've never believed at this time 2-3 years ago. The Miz insulted the fans as well in a classic way by setting himself up as someone exemplary that followed his dreams and managed to achieve them. I thought Miz using the close up pictures of that little girl from last week's Raw that we've all seen was a sweet little touch. She was cute as a button but was royally pissed off at the same time. I was surprised to hear Jerry Lawler interrupt The Miz's promo as it hardly ever happens. Lawler, for all intents and purposes, called Miz a punk and that his title win was a fluke. I like that the WWE is already using the fluke bit because, hopefully, it means that they're going to keep the title on Miz for a while. I like the picture Lawler and Miz painted here with the past, represented by Lawler, calling out the brash young cocky wrestler that seems to represent a lot of guys you see today. Miz turned down Lawler's request for a title shot but the Raw GM pings in and grants the match and makes it a TLC match. I have to admit that I'm not all that wild about this idea. At any rate, I thought this was a great segment. Thumbs Up

Sheamus vs. Kofi Kingston - This was a fun match with both Kofi & Sheamus looking pretty good. Both wrestlers got in a good deal of offense and were able to deliver a very good 5 minute match. I also like how Sheamus has evolved from basically an Irish brawler at this time last year to someone that's more of a thinker and a planner. Sheamus gets the win after catching Kofi with a modified Brogue Kick as Kofi was going for a high across body off the top. The kick looked sort of awkward but, then again, Kofi was in an awkward position. Thumbs Up

Heath Slater & Justin Gabriel vs. Mark Henry & Yoshi Tatsu - Pretty lame match here and it was little more than a foil for John Cena. He comes down through the stand as he "bought a ticket" to the show. Why the hell does he have 4 or 5 tickets in his hand exactly? Anyhow, nothing here to say really as Cena distracts Slater and let's Henry recover enough to hit the World's Strongest Slam on Slater for the pin at the 2.5 minute mark. Cena then jumps the rail and puts Slater through the announce table with the AA before taking off. This was just pretty lame in my view. Would it have killed them to keep Cena off television for a week or two? Thumbs Down

John Morrison vs. Alberto Del Rio - Like most of the other KOTR matches tonight, this one was a very solid, though unspectacular, match that worked well with the time they were given. Morrison & Del Rio have had a match or two in the past and they were pretty good ones. During this match, Morrison injures his arm and Del Rio looks to be circling in for the kill only for the horn in his car to start blowing. Rey Mysterio pops up through the sun roof and distracts Del Rio long enough for Morrison hit the Flash Kick for the win at the 3.5 minute mark. Morrison wins and goes on to face Sheamus in the KOTR finals. Thumbs Up

The Nexus Beaten Down - Wade Barrett comes out to the ring and gives a solid promo and addressed one of the big concerns that everyone has had about this angle: that he'd eventually get so frustrated that he'd demand Cena be reinstated so they could settle it. Barrett said it wasn't going to happen and is interrupted by Cena out in the parking lot. As they banter a bit, Justin Gabriel, David Otunga & Husky Harris have Cena surrounded and cornered up against a semi. Suddenly, most of the faces in the Raw locker room come out and jump The Nexus from behind. Cena absolutely slaughters Gabriel by slamming him up against the side of a car with enough force to dent the shit out of it and break the window before AAing Gabriel onto the hood of the car, thereby smashing the windshield. One thing I noticed was that R-Truth wasn't out there with the rest of the boys and it made me think back to his earlier promo in the ring about wanting a piece of Nexus. I believe that Truth is still going to have some big role to play in all this by the time it's all said and done. Thumbs Up

Natalya, Gail Kim & Melina vs. Maryse, Tamina & Alicia Fox - The match generally speaking wasn't bad and went about 3.5 minutes. Everything, of course, was overshadowed with Santino coming out to serenade Tamina on his guitar while the match was going on. I knew that there'd have to be a little sillyness tossed in here about. Natalya, Gail & Melina get the win when Natalya forces Alicia Fox to tap out to the Sharpshooter for the 900th time. Thumbs Down

Sheamus vs. John Morrison - I thought that this was a great match, better than any they've had thus far. Sheamus came across as a thinking man's brawler and his constant work on Morrison's arm still puts me in mind of the old Anderson mentality. The match told a great story and Morrison sold his arm injury well. Morrison also showed tremendous heart in the ring and I honestly didn't know who was going to pick up the win here. On one hand, Sheamus had been built up well and was the fresher wrestler but Morrison came in with a never say quit sort of mentality and gave as good as he got. The crowd was hot for this and Morrison seemed on the edge of victory. Sheamus blocks Starship Pain with his knees and his knees did connect with Morrison's injured arm. He then hits the Brogue Kick followed by the High Cross to get the win and become 2010 King of the Ring a little past the 12 minute mark. Sheamus goes up onto the stage and takes the septer, which kinda looks like some neolithic sex toy to me, has the cape put on him and the crown. I have no problem with Sheamus winning and I hope that his feud with JoMo continues. Thumbs Up

The Miz vs. Jerry Lawler - I have to give the WWE credit here because they actually made me care about this match. The video clip of Lawler back in his glory days was a lot of fun to see and they did a good job at painting Lawler as the underdog. The match in and of itself was actually ok all things considered. What it was able to do more than anything, however, was to tell a great story using a pretty simple and basic formula. They made The Miz look like an overconfident heel champion that could have climbed the ladder and retrieved the title at probably half a dozen times during the match. I was worried that Lawler was going to get in far too much offense on Miz but most of his offense came simply from Miz not paying attention and taking his eye off the ball as heels tend to do. Lawler eventually knocks Miz off the top rope and through a wooden table, giving him a chance to climb the ladder. It reminded me of several years ago when Ric Flair was featured in a ladder match on Raw for the title and seemed just on the verge of getting it only to be stopped. Michael Cole jumped into the ring and I was very surprised by that. He grabs hold of Lawler's ankle and Lawler climbs down. He keeps asking Cole what he was doing with Cole apologizing before getting laid out by a series of punches. Miz, meanwhile, climbs the ladder and so does Lawler. They fight it out on top of the ladder for a bit with Miz knocking Lawler off and pulling down the title. This wasn't some classic hardcore match and it wasn't intended to be. Thumbs Up

Overall Show - I thought that the KOTR Raw tonight was a very solid show overall. It wasn't as strong as last week's, what with all the shocking stuff that went down, but this was a very good show in my view. I think the WWE has found the key to making these three hour Raws work: take them seriously and treat these shows as if they matter. They did it with Old School Raw and they did it again tonight. I believe that they need to spread these shows out more next year instead of having three of them within less than a 2 month period, but I like how these last two have worked. Most of the KOTR matches were solid and the finals between Sheamus & Morrison was a damn good match. It would've been nice if Cena had been off tv for a few weeks, but at least we didn't see "Juan Cena", which would be an insult to the collective intelligence of the audience and might actually piss off some hispanic viewers. The main event was very interesting and while it wasn't a great hardcore match, they told a great story and thus made it a very compelling match.

Well, I was stupid enough to do something I haven't done in a WHILE and that's watch an entire episode of RAW without fast forwarding. I forced myself into watching it and well ... let's just say that I should've learned from my mistakes.

First of all, all of the matches were booked correctly and the people that should've won - won. Booking wise - it was great. Wrestling wise - complete and utter boredom. The matches had absolutely nothing going on. I felt like they were even unecessary. I wasn't watching the match FOR the match, I wasn't enjoying the wrestling. No. Instead I couldn't wait 'till it was over so I could see who advances. Straight up boring.

Why WWE decided to change the KOTR Logo and replace it with this stupid shit is beyond me.

Sheamus winning King of the Ring cleaned his name. He's been getting his ass whooped by Santino and Morisson lately and started to look pretty worthless, but becoming KOTR was the right thing to do for him. But while it was good, it was also bad.

If you're going to push John Morrisson by making him defeat a former Two Time World Champion, why in the hell would you make him lose to that same guy a week or two later. That win Sheamus had over him nullified all of his success over the past month.

Other than that, the promos were stale - as always. The Miz was good. I like his mic-skills, but don't like his in-ring presence. I can't take him seriously. I think he's mediocre, but I'll give the kid some time. I'll watch RAW in the following weeks only to see what The Miz will do and how he'll progress with the belt. Not a big fan of giving mid-carders World Titles for the soul purpose of shoving them down our throats, but The Miz has potential to become something. Maybe this championship will make him step it up, or it'll prove that he has a glass ceiling above his head. I don't know. I'll give him time before I completely burry him.

Miz vs Lawler wasn't bad. I understand that Lawler wrestling is a one time thing. No reason to bitch here. I always loved Lawler and the match wasn't THAT bad. It was good for what it was. WWE was smart to book these two in a TLC match. They clearly knew that the match would be a snooze fest if it was a straight up one on one contest, so they put them in a TLC match where they could do a few spots and save some face.

Overall, RAW wasn't a memorable show. I enjoyed maybe 3% of the entire episode and forced myself to not fast forward through the rest.

Cena (who got "fired", but is still wearing kneepads) jumps the barrier and takes apart the announcer's table and grabs Slater by the leg.

Would it kill them to dress him up like someone who would buy tickets and watch RAW? Why have him wear his gear? That makes the storyline look even more fake.

I get why the E booked Shaemus to beat Morrison. You dont want to put Morrison over as if he totally owns Shaemus and will beat him in any given match. Morris and Shaemus are both going to be main eventers and challenge for the title so this way they both look strong. I missed the old days (mostly in WCW) when guys would have matches/feuds and they'd take turns beating the other cleanly. Shaemus and Morrison could have a great feud and series of matches and not knowing which one would win on any given night would make it that much better.

Plus Shaemus only had one match going into the finals whereas Morrison had two, so if Shaemus lost it would really make it seem like he has no business in the ring with Morrison.

1) Miss America is hot

2) Still loving Punk on commentary, we all can see what he will be doing when he retires. Refreshing to hear him over the annoyance known as Cole. Gives the show a little more edge.

3) As for the KOTR, like many of you I was and even still confused the idea of Sheamus getting the crown. I can understand him evening up the series with Morrison, but Morrison needed to win more than anyone. Out of everyone he's been the longest without a belt or even a semi decent push. Really starting to think he'll be the next Janetty, Shelton etc. of talented in ring performers who just toll around the mid card till they get canned.

4) HHH will return at the Rumble and win it

5) Miz really looked like a great champ carrying Lawler like he did in what was a pretty good main event. Like everyone loved seeing Cole get decked and can't wait to see Orton vs Miz at TLC. Should be a pretty good match.

6) Still loving that pissed off little girl from last week and really LOVED Miz bringing her back up. WWE should hire her and put her front row to sell his wins. Now that would be awesome.

I really didn't think this RAW (King of the Ring) was their best show. I don't understand why they waisted the King of the Ring idea for a regular Raw show?!! With all the NEW PPV names and concept bringing back King of the Ring is better then what they are using right now. Back in the King of the Ring was another PPV for an oppentent to go after the World Title besides the Royal Rumble and Number One contendership. Yeah I pretty much skim this Raw very quickly because none of the matches appeal to me the ones that were in the King of the Ring did absolutely nothing for me. Thats just me, I guess.!!!

Either I'm crazy or everyone else is crazy...and I think everyone else is crazy. To give anything on this show a "Thumbs Up" or a "B+" or an "A", is just asinine to me. The show is predictable and bad. You can see what's going to happen as soon as they set the stage.

Alex Riley is the best Lackey the WWE has produced for a main eventer since Curt Hawkins, Zack Ryder, Joey Mercury, Luke Gallows, The Nexus, and...wait...its the same shit I've been watching for the past 2 years. Cut promo, take finisher, role out the ring, leader walks up aisle with a scowl as lackey licks wounds...complete with multiple varations for matches, backstage interaction, and interference. What's so great about this character? He's a pussy.

Are they still doing 6 Diva matches that serve no purpose? Gail Kim probably wrestles 2 singles matches in a year.

Is R-Truth still cutting some of the worst promos this side of RVD?

Who's worse at reciting their scripted lines? Husky Harris, R-Truth, or the Divas?

My how far has Mark Henry fallen. He was already in the ring when we came back from commercial break. Maybe he can feud with Zack Ryder. That way at least his opponent can look as bad as he does for the intros.

Why was John Cena not arrested...and if he's "fired" and is just a "fan", why is a spotlight being shown on him as he comes to his seat? Security and the Anonymous GM overlook certain situations I guess....or am I not supposed to ask this question?

On the bright side, Sheamus continues the great lineage of Irish Kings by winning King of the Ring...he looks much happier than when he was WWE Champion.

They just can't fully pull the trigger yet on JoMo's push. Back to feuding with Dibiase you go! Hopefully they'll let him job to the Miz a few times while he's champ since Orton, Cena, and HHH definitely won't be up to the task. R-Truth and Daniel Bryan will be there to help him out too.

The only credible opponent for the new World Champion the Miz is 61 year old Jerry Lawler? In a TLC match at that? You know something, I really thought Lawler would win his first WWE Title :-\

So all of the titles Lawler won before getting to the WWE apparently don't mean shit.

You know what prevents this show from getting an F? CM Punks commentary, and Cole interfering in the main event. Pretty funny.

Maybe I'm too old and crazy for this type of shit.

Bad Show: D-

As far as last night's King of the Ring..

Bryan vs Del Rio - I know both guys are talent and have a following and kumbaya my f'n lord. But this match really didn't interest me. There was just something about it that made not give a damn. Also, I don't think Del Rio is getting over with the fans as some people pegged as.

Morrison vs Rhodes - Rhodes had to slap a stupid looking submission on Morrison to get him to strike. They were bad punches, but hey it's a start? Terrible match btw.

McIntyre vs Jackson - Didn't care for this match.

Sheamus vs Kingston - Sheamus kicked Kofi's head off. Prolly the best part of the whole tournament.

Del Rio vs Morrison - I thought I didn't care about the matches these guys had the first round, but this match made me wish I had marked out like Woi was out there for the first round.

Sheamus vs Morrison - Anyone who thinks the wrong guy won is a fucking idiot. I missed most of the match because the stream I was watching on decided to just show naked pictures of Maryse. Needlessly to say, the pictures were much more interesting that Morrison in this match. Sheamus is great though. I love that he WILL make a guy sell if things aren't going to hot.

I was upset that Woi was only on for 5 minutes last night. =(

But I loved what happened with Cena and the Nexus. Poor Gabe, he ate those car bumps like it was his last meal. And we all should love John Cena forever and ever and ever for stopping the Truth vs Lil Hennig match from happening. I was almost literally in tears when I realized that the match was going to happen after I stop shouting about Wade.

Finally, I really am in love with Gabe's new look. He looks so manly now.

for the most part i enjoyed the show but the one thing that set me off was the very last matc of the evening. the miz vs jerry the king. my anger is towards michael cole. that rat needs to be put in his place, and im happy jerry finally gave him a nice punch in the face. jerry could have been the one thing he never was and miz screwed out of a title? come on we all win on that one :)

Why was John Cena not arrested...and if he's "fired" and is just a "fan", why is a spotlight being shown on him as he comes to his seat? Security and the Anonymous GM overlook certain situations I guess....or am I not supposed to ask this question?

and who wears knee pads to a wrestling event (eye roll). would it kill them to make him dress normal one damn show? are they so afraid merch is going to slip if they have cena wear street clothes? that would make the storyline that much better.

when austin was fired and came back, he didn't wear his wrestling outfit.

or does the E really think all wrestling fans are that dumb that they wouldn't realize it was Cena if he didn't wear his attire?

For me, I didn't like the show as much as some people did, but I certainly don't think it's deserving of some of the more harsher critics it's gotten in this thread. The show was still good, it just wasn't as good as last week's show.

I have to admit that I was really excited about the King of the Ring tournament going in, and I found the whole thing rather unpredictable based on the names involved. But, right after the first match with Alberto Del Rio as the second match was starting, and the brackets were clear, I actually found I could predict how it was going to turn out. When Drew McIntyre and Jackson got double counted out I knew right away that Morrison and Sheamus were going to be in the finals and I predicted Sheamus would win. So, I was slightly disappointed by how things played out when the time actually came for the tournament. Still, I do think Sheamus was a fine choice to win and he's a great choice for a King-type gimmick as it goes well with his Celtic gimmick, etc. I also think this doesn't hurt Morrison, because he got a huge push through this tournament, competing in three matches and looking very strong, even in defeat.

I enjoyed the matches for the tournament, all except the Drew McIntyre vs. Ezekial Jackson match. Not only was I disappointed by the result but I thought the match was poor from both guys, too. I was definitely disappointed that Drew was eliminated like that, and right off the bat in the tournament, but I guess it does keep both of them looking strong and prevente either of them looking weaker in losing. The final match of the Tournament was a great match and, as I said, Sheamus looked great in winning and Morrison still looked great in losing. It really didn't hurt Morrison, and it certainly didn't lullify everything from the past few months with this feud like someone else said. Not at all. WWE did a good job with this.

I will say though that CM Punk's commentary was great tonight, as always. I found myself laughing out loud when he refereced the KKK in the Kingston/Sheamus match. I'm not a fan of the Miz as champion, but that's not something that's going to change too soon, so it's good that most of the rest of the show was entertaining.
