[Official] Chris Benoit Memorial Thread

How can you all say that? Now, don't get me wrong I loved watching Benoit's matches and he was a great in-ring competetor. But the man killed his family, he strangeled his wife and SMOTHERED HIS 7 YEAR OLD SON WITH A BAG. All I have to say is R.I.P Nancy and Daniel Benoit. But for Chris...he can rot in hell for all I care... Not cool Chris...Not Cool.

They have reported that Chris Benoit strangled his wife with an electrical chord and then sufficated his 7 year old son with a plastic bag. How the hell can someone do something like this?!? This guy was clearly a sick sick man. I could never imagine anyone being able to kill their wife let alone their 7 YEAR SON.

I never liked him as a wrestler and I'm glad I didn't. Sure he was a talented wrestler...but OJ Simpson was a talented football player. That isn't the point. The point is that something bigger than wrestling occured this past weekend. A man we thought we knew murdered his wife and 7 year old son and then cowardly killed himself. Why? Does anybody know why he did this?!?

I'm sure there was no reason at all or it could have been a combination of drugs and steroids.

I understand a motive to kill your wife. I think it is still SICK. But I can UNDERSTAND a motive as she is older and could have cheated on him or something. What is the motive to kill your own 7 year old son?!?

Sickening.

Hey, I completley aggree with you. he really is a sick man. I loved watching his matches and I had him right up there w/ The Undertaker in my book. But now... I don't know what to think of him.

You have to think about it. Do these guys really enjoy what they do?

Think of all the wrestlers who have died before reaching the age of 50. They are just partying all the time doing drugs and doing steroids. They are dropping dead any way possible right now. From multiple massive heart attack issues to drug overdoses, to suicides, to murders, etc.

So we have to think to ourselves. Do these guys ACTUALLY enjoy what they are doing? They are never home with their families and there is no offseason. Unless you are Hulk Hogan or Triple H right now or someone up in that league, you don't get any pull in the company and you're a pawn on a chess board. These guys are probably miserable deep down.

And then they die. Or something as tragic as this happens.

You seem to be forgetting the fact that non-wrestlers drop dead of doing drugs, steroids, drug issues, suicides, murders etc about a hundred times more then wrestlers do. You're not making any sense there mate. Obviously it's a stressful job, but with all the money alot of these main event guys have, if they didn't love what they do, they wouldn't be doing it.

i aint giving him noo respect and no props
hes a coward and a joke, only sad thing is he killed his kid and wife, should of just hung urself maybe u still would of had a lil respect left

I just heard on CNN's report that his wifes hands and feet were bound together. He also left bibles near both of the bodies.
Chris was a messed up guy.

anyone who gives any respect to this man is an idiot. If Benoit had just killed his wife and son and went to jail or into hiding no one would be talking about respecting his career they'd be talking about the sick human being that he is. However because he killed himself as well and is gone some want to try to remember the great things he once accomplished and tribute him but thats absolutely ridiculous. Benoit didn't tragically die like eddie or bam bam he murdered two people including his own flesh and blood. This man, if you can even call him that, deserves no respect from anyone.

Its not for us to judge whether Benoit is innocent or guilty. Three people have lost their lives in this tragedy. We should focus on the Chris Benoit we want to remember, the highly gifted athelete who gave his all every time he entered the wrestling ring. In my opinion, probably the best technical wrestler in the business. It is an honour that i got to see Chris Benoit in his prime and this is how i will remember him. We'll miss you Chris.

HeartBreakKid ur the idiot. he pavd the way for all the furture wee stars. i refuse to believe that he could do something like that. if ur so smart why didnt he kill his other to kids. if he was so mess up like u said answer that. u should not speak on things htat u dont know. Beniot should be respected.

i dunno wut to say.... i never thought he would have done sumthing like this as it seems to be the case.

great wrestler and for that reason i will keep my rabbid wolverine name, but as a human being outside of the ring....what can i say, i think all of us as wrestling fans seem to think we know these guys just cuz we watch them on tv, then something crazy happens and your opinion is totally changed on the guy.

really he should have taken his own life, and leave his family alone, thats what gets me about this whole thing, if he did it to himself, then that would have been different but killing your own family... that makes me sick

WoW! I can't believe you people! Get out of your little stupid wrestling world for one minute and realize the guy MURDERED HIS WIFE AND SON!!! The cops say thats what happened, then thats what happened! They arent going to go making up a story and imaginary murder instruments! He is a damn murderer! So he had some cool wrestling matches, you guys are going to stand behind him because of that? Murdering a child is the worst thing imaginable for me! I'll tell you one thing, he definately isnt up there with eddie and andre! He is BURNING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

hey bears ur a fukcing idiot. just because the cops says that wut happen does not mean that what happen. cops in my opinion cause more trouble then they are worth. but anyway if u people dont want to respect him then y respec eddie. he OD on drugs. that no way to go. killing urself with a substance. if u wont respect beniot then y respect any wrestler that has no dies on natural causes.

HAHAHAHAHA..you are playing down what the cops found? its facts there skippy! open your frigen eyes and face the facts.

you mentioned about him not killing his other 2 kids..he prob would have if they were there....but they werent. Those other 2 kids are very lucky they werent visiting w/ good ol daddy that day.

Atleast eddie only killed himself and not his family as well.

I feel sick,I don't even know what to say or where to start. This can't be real,WHY can't this be just one sick storyline? I don't understand it.

No Words.

I don't get why people think they knew him.He was a wrestler on TV.We never knew him.People have problems.I think you can remember the good things about him.But don't give him a free pass because you like him as a wrestler.

I feel bad that I even watched the 3 hour Raw in his honor. Owen Hart died during an actual live event and they continued the show and this guy murdered his family and every celebrated him.

I said the same thing to someone at work today. They should of just gone on with Raw last night and waited to get more details and maybe had a tribute show on ECW if things didn't turn out like they did today. Regardless of what happened we would be shaking our heads. The WWE can't do anything right when it comes to these situations.

It really is hard to believe Chris and his family are dead .I'm having a hard time believing Chris did this to his wife and son. Never in my wildest dreams
could i image Chris did this. I really hope they find out this is not true.My heart goes out to his family and friends. This is truly a sad day for wwe. May God be with them all.:icon_sad: WWE. should not have turned their backs just yet no matter what in till all the facts are in. All of this is just a bad nightmare. My prayers are with the whole family. We will all know soon I hope.

im sorry to say it but he killed his wife and kid, the wwe had to make a stance, u cant put forward an image to young kids that a real life murder can be celebrated after he kills himself.
When raw went out there wasnt the info there is now, so they tried to do the right thing.
wen i heard the report today, with the way he tied up his wife... he new wat he was doing, which is disturbing to see. i will miss his wrestling but he did a truely evil act and may god only pass judgement on him, it is not for anyone else to judge.
how-ever his no note to explain it, just wierd
May god bless his wife and son

First and foremost, this is my thoughts on Chris Benoit, the Wrestler.

Not to get too deep or sentimental, I stopped watching wrestling in 1995. For the obvious reasons, Kevin Nash and Mable, main eventing Summerslam, that should be enough right there. The business was shit. The old timers were clogging up WCW, WWF was clogged with senseless, talentless big men that wouldn't know a wristlock from a wristwatch.

A little company called ECW caught my attention, and slowly, i came back to the world of professional wrestling. With the infusion of the N.W.O. into WCW, and the WWF beginning to get it's attitude, I slowly came back and was hooked on the product I loved. During this time, my taste in wrestling changed. No longer was I attracted to the slow big lumbering giants sucking up air time, or men ten years out of their primes speaking mindless promos and holding onto their spots. No, my interest was new this time.

WCW brought in their cruiserweights and smaller wrestlers, and I'll tell you what, I was hooked. Chris Benoit, Dean Malenko, Chris Jericho, Eddie Guerrero, Rey Misterio in WCW. Sabu, Rob Van Dam, Taz in ECW and guys like Mick Foley and Steve Austin in the WWE. These guys became the core, and to this day remain so, the core of what I consider wrestling should be. These are a bunch of guys that busted their ass for this business, didn't politic, didn't pull strings, didn't play mindless games with managment to keep their spots. These are guys at the age of 15, I knew were the future of this business, and knew should be the guys people look to.

Benoit stood out to me though. His viscousness in the ring, and his violent feud with Kevin Sullivan was all I needed. I have been a Benoit fan for over a decade. The great thing with Eric Bischoff was, he didn't know how to book Nitro to save his ass. Instead of putting the cruiserweights throughout the show, the dumbass booked them in the 8-9 o'clock hour. All of the WCW wrestlers I mentioned were done by 9. I realized the rest of the night was going to be Hogan being mind numbingly dull on the mic, and NWO beat down, and Sting dropping from the rafters.

I was in Cincinnati when Benoit won the WCW Championship, and then throwing it in the trash the next night. I stood and cheered like a little kid seeing WCW actually give the belt to someone with talent. Benoit was worthy of the belt, probably the most worthy to hold that belt as far as in ring ability, since WCW's inception, and Sting and Flair swapped the title.

I couldn't have been more happy with Benoit jumping ship to WWE with the Radicals. Finally, a group of guys that busted their ass got their shot in the WWE, and the WWE responded. Benoit was in two main events of pay per views within 9 months of his debut. The WWE gave us a "Dusty" finish in both matches, as Benoit won the title both times, only to be unceremoniasely stripped of the title.

Benoits feud with Kurt Angle starting at WM 17 was perhaps my favorite feud of all time. Benoits match with Angle at WM was amazing, his Ultimate Submission match at Backlash the next month, another instant classic. Then you have the 2 out of 3 falls the next month at Judgment Day. Also, you must include Angle vs. Benoit in the Steel Cage. Some of the sickest spots I have ever seen in a cage match.

There are so many other countless things I could say about Chris Benoit the wrestler. I haven't even begun to get to his matches with Jericho, RVD, Guerrero, Triple H.

One of my proudest moments as a wrestling fan came in January of 2003. Boston, MA. Royal Rumble 2003. Chris Benoit and Kurt Angle battle in perhaps the greatest WWE championship match I have ever seen. Angle finally forces Benoit to tap out, then they go to promo. After the promo, Benoit stands in the middle of the ring, Boston gives Benoit a Standing Ovation. I was amazed, and the Benoit push was inevitable.

My Proudest Moment as a fan now, Chris Benoit and Eddie Guerrero embracing in the ring at WM 20. Two guys that came up together, in the biggest scene in the business, finally got the job done.

People may consider me, naive, blind, in denial, that's fine. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. My personal opinion, Chris Benoit, next to Kurt Angle, is the best, greatest in ring performer I have ever had the privelage of watching live or on TV. In my opinion, Chris Benoit should be in the WWE HoF, but won't. His accomplishments in the ring warrant his entry into the HoF.

While this situation is indeed tragic, and words can't truly express how I feel, I think this has opened peoples eyes. We don't know as fans, everything. We don't know what goes on behind closed doors. We don't know a damn thing about these people. My only wish is, people wouldn't look at this situation as Black and White. There are a million shades of gray in between, and we may never know what spawned this horrendous act.

Chris Benoit, the Wrestler, one of the best ever, period.

Let's all take a step be for a moment. Chris was one of the best wrestlers ever to lace up a pair of boots. But you have to think for a moment , if this is true, what pushed Chris to do something like this? Abandonment? Think of this for a second. His best friend in Eddie Guererro died just a few years ago. He has been on a grueling schedule with wrestling ever since he was in New Japan Pro Wrestling. And for the record what kind of company tributes and great wrestler then the next day takes away absolutely everything about him of their website and t.v. the second they find out the truth. Chris needed help. Now don't twist my words. I'm not saying Chris' actions are justified, but who am I to judge? All I'm saying is that he was wrestler absolutely devoted to this business and for the WWE to just act like it never happened and take everything they had just tributed to him just shows you how well the WWE treats their performers. LIKE GARBAGE!!!
