[OFFICIAL] 2010 Debater's League Shit-Talking Thread

Yeah Ferbs... sorry but rules must be followed. This league is a responsibility and had rules from day one. I can't keep bending them for everyone's unique situations since it is unfair to everyone else.

I can't stop stressing the fact that this tournament is DIFFICULT. It takes, time, dedication, and a lot of responsibility. Papa Grande seemed like someone who knew that... until he dropped out of the league the other day. So, once again, another alternate received a PM from me and I'm waiting for their response to see if they want to take PG's place.

Guys, if you cannot be with this thing until the end then speak NOW. I'm sick of everyone dropping out. I understand that real life stuff happens. But using excuses like "School started again and I thought I would be able to do this but I can't" is absolute DOGSHIT to me. You knew that was going to happen from day one... there was no reason to continue this far into it when you always knew you'd have to drop out.

If any of you have school, work, or anything else that will interfere with taking 20 minutes to create a debate once per day then speak up NOW.

Besides, like I said it's probably gonna be nice to have an off-week. Especially tomorrow and Thursday because I got the whole driving class, which means I'm home later on and all that. I just feel bad for not stepping up to the plate when I wanted to. Especially considering the lack of DoT competitions thus far.

That's funny. I just started school again like 2 weeks ago and I know for a fact I can compete in this and still get all of my school work complete. If you know or think that you might not be able to do this until the end, stop wasting everyone's time and just drop out already. Seriously people, you're not going to get hanged or anything like that. D-Man is putting in a lot of effort in this and he can't do it all by himself. He needs our cooperation to make this work.

Has anyone been selected to debate against General Disarray in Round 6? The last I heard, his opponent had backed out at the last moment for some reason. I would imagine his reputation is scaring potential opponents away

From what I've been told, if they don't arrive in 24 hours, make your opening post, including choice of stance, and mention that your opponent had not arrived in the required time.

UPDATE: Adalam has accepted my offer to participate in the league and will be replacing Papa Grande effective immediately. They will be debating against General Disarray. GD, since you had to wait this long and Adalam is new, I will be making you the home debater for this week. You have 24 hours to post your opening argument. Judges, please keep this in mind when scoring the Punctuality point.

Also, I will state this again - if your opponent is the home debater and does not choose a side and whether they debate first or second within 24 hours of when the debate is posted then you can go ahead and give your opening post in their place. Just make sure this intention is stated in the first line of your opening argument so the judges can see right away.
