Yeah I have been watching from the beginning & finally finished season 3. Very underrated show that I feel if it were on a more well known network (AMC, FX, HBO, Showtime, etc.) would get the attention it deserves.

Wasn't season 3 (and season 2, for that matter) fucking incredible?!?!

I agree, plus, I bet this show would be fucking crazed if it was on Starz Showtime or HBO.

The wanderer storyline was the only thing I didnt care for. LIke, it seemed like it would be super cool. and then just...nothing happened...

Season 3 was much better now that I was finally able to just watch the whole damn thing in 2 days. I tried watching it back week to week back when it was first airing & fell behind, & since I'm one of 8 people on Earth without a DVR, I just said fuck it & waited till I could watching for free on Amazon Prime.

Yeah I wasn't real fond of the Wanderer shit, it really served no purpose. The repeated attempts to raid Paris was pretty fucking awesome though.

Their mercenary work in Englad was great, great times....and when on to france, Ragnar doing the LOD tongue out taunt before getting knocked a thousand feet in the air to get all fucked up was amazing, lulz. Also the plot to finally get in and fuck over the French was wonderful.....Fun fact, Bjorn Ironside actually did that while raiding in Italy, about ten years after the time of this show.

SO Xavier Woods and Kenny Omega just posted a vid of them joking around at a diner, and I posted

"I hear Orlando is realllly nice this time of year...."

And Omega favorited it.

:lsabre:

I would mark out so fucking hard. And so would all of you if you only knew.

Also, holy shit we are nearing 1000 downloads of the EOY show. Guess we got some holdover fans from the pornstar episode.

Still though, thanks errbody.

2 things about Eric Mangini:

--Why can't he keep a head coaching job in the NFL? Is he too much like Chip Kelly in terms of his demand for total control?

--Why was Bill Belichick so mad at Mangini when Eric was offered a head coaching job elsewhere? Because he was leaving before Belichick was ready for him to go? How would Belichick have felt had Bill Parcells refused to let him go to Cleveland when he was offered the job there?

-- Ive heard a lot that he is a super high level disciplinarian/nut buster. When you are at the NFL level, if you do things that way, you HAVE to win, and win A LOT for players to buy in to that. He hasn't, so many locker rooms have turned on him or outright quit on him.

--Mangini accepted the Jets job unofficially during a Pats playoff run, and supposedly was recruiting players on the PATS to join his team in the offseason. Mangini was also the snitch in regards to spygate, and the whole thing going down. Given that Belichek was his mentor, I can see how he would be pretty sour with him after that stuff went down
That being said, it's not like he was terrible with the Jets. He had winning records twice in his 3 years, and the owner getting Favre is really the main reason for his downfall in NY. Don't get me wrong I'm not a big fan of Mangini but he was a pretty good football mind who wasn't terrible in his only stint as a HC in the NFL.

So there was no room for a End of Year report into what went on in Ancient History this year?

While I understand the statement, it remains confusing. Nothing new happened in Ancient history. It happened a long-ass time ago. New things happening in Ancient history would require a time machine, and would alter the timeline so much that the entire universe would change.

In other Ancient History news, any suggestions about how I go about doing the Persian Wars justice in just 35 mins?

What do I leave out or minimise? The Ionian Revolt? Mycale? Battle tactics?

Yeah, heading back to my old school with the Classical Association. We are giving three talks - Persian Wars, fall of the Republic and Propaganda in Augustan Rome.

Given the time we have, it averages out at about 35mins each. Being able to use a powerpoint will help but still... Not a lot of time...

Anecdotes will have to be left out along with most analysis. I think the aim though is to present the narrative of the wars as the students spend a lot of time only looking at what Herodotus writes about and he can talk a load of bollocks at times.

Got 24 slides at the moment but once I get my notes written up, I can see at least four disappearing.

You are the man with this sort of deal, but when I have short time to brief the events (usually with an only slightly captive audience who asked "hey you know lots about history, what happened in this event)

Setting and sides - place, time, main belligerents

Kickoff - why did things break down

thermopolaye/Salamis

Platea/Mycale

Aftermath

It finally happened. I told you I would, it would just take a long time....

I have secured my copy of War of the Three Gods.

Hey NorCal,

What are your tips for quick recovery where after you work out legs for the first time in months, your legs feel like Oprah ran at them full speed, and getting downstairs is the struggle of a lifetime?

Many thanks,

Turd Ferguson

Unfortunately, there is really nothing to be done. Its just going to be this way for about a month, probably, until your legs are back into condition somewhat.

I suffered a severe back injury this summer and was laid up for six months. I know just the struggle, as it feels like I am wearing a suit made out of sand over my body during any exercise(I just started back two weeks ago)

I know its just gonna be this way for a while. Its why so many people cant get into the gym consistently, because they never get over that initial month to six week hill.

NXT for both, right?

TNA isn't happening. LU? Doubt they'd opt out of New Japan for that.

I can't imagine they leave New Japan for TNA. I just can't.
Storm is going back to TNA, which is somewhat shocking to me at this point. But I guess that's just a matter of him not having options and there not being a lot for him long term in NXT/WWE. Nakamura and AJ won't have that issue.

AJ should get whatever deal Joe got. And Nakamura should be getting the same red carpet Hideo and Finn got.

Yeah that's what I'm thinking too. Storm is an upper midcarder in TNA. The other two are worldwide stars. That's a big jump.
