Oh man I wish this had been a three way show.

"How do you even make a star these days?"

The worst part about the booking is how simple it is to fix. Here's how you make a star:

1. Have a champion win a few title defenses. Say 5, because that's a big deal these days.

2. Have someone new built up by having him win some matches. Say 5, because it would be a miracle if someone went a month without a loss these days.

3. Have the non-champion be announced as #1 contender via the roll he's been on.

4. Have them both talk about how big a fight this is going to be, preferably adding in a fabricated story put together by a small number of writers.

5. Give them fifteen minutes with a hot finish on PPV with a new champion being crowned.

In other words, do what they did with Ryback and don't screw up the finish.

What does NXT have that Raw and Smackdown don't?

Aside from squash matches (true, though Ryback beat the Ascension clean in 89 seconds on Smackdown), I'd go with respect for the fans. The main shows know you're going to watch the PPVs and take it for granted. NXT feels like they're trying to entertain and impress you every single week and it shows.
