NFL AND NCAAF bar room thread

You mean Marshall, Decker, and Kerley is a really good 3 WR. Harvin is gone (not worth $10.5M as well as a 4th round pick). And Kerley is a good slot receiver so it still fits.

Sounds good, but then what was the point in trading for Harvin in the first place? :lmao:

The QB situation is easily resolved. Marcus Mariotta may be available at 6, and they could either go with him or trade with Philly for 2 Firsts and Foles.

That or Mark Sanchez and Matt Moore are available in Free Agency.

Ahhh... got to go with Matt Moore. He's not great, but he's solid and can get the job done with the right pieces, and it seems like the Jets have that atm (although I don't know how good their offensive line is).

Saints signed Ingram to a 4 year deal. I'm apathetic about it. Hopefully he becomes more consistent and becomes the monster he shows signs of being at certain times.

And single handedly destroyed the market for FA running backs. Looks like it's 4 years for $16 mil, $4 mil a year, a bargain in the long run. Might have set the tone for Murray and Forsett, and they aren't gonna be happy about it.

In other news Randall Cobb resigned with Green Bay. As much as it hates me to say it, it was his best move he could make with a QB like Rodgers. Certainly ensures his value for my dynasty league. 4 years $40 mil.

They gave up a 6th round pick to give their offense a jolt. Then if they couldn't improve at #1 WR in the offseason they'd keep him. In the end it cost the Jets a 5 and a 6 to see if Harvin worked out and to then get Marshall.

The line is good. D'Brickashaw Ferguson is a good LT and Nick Mangold is an All Pro caliber Center.

I'd trade for Nick Foles in a heartbeat. Foles and a #1 for the 6th pick (Mariotta)? Definitely. I don't think Mariotta is a good fit for a Non-Chip Kelly Offense (or an NFL offense for that matter). Hell I'd rather have Philly's 2016 #1 than their 2015 #1.

As an Ingram fantasy owner I love it. Heard he was going to go and sign with the Eagles and be apart of that three headed monster right after getting out of that crap the Saints had going with him and Thomas (And Sproles years before).

Now he's finally the main guy. He's always been going 50/50 with Thomas, or less than 50/50. Now that he has the chance to carry the ball as the primary guy for a whole season we're going to see just how good he can really be.

I just hope the Saints do in fact do that, and simply don't resign Thomas now for whatever reason, or bring in another guy to split carries with. I understand it, but as a big fantasy guy I despise running back by committee offenses.

Speaking of which

Rex Ryan said NO ONE in the NFL would touch the ball more than Shady Mccoy next year.

TY BURNA!!! WE COMIN FOR YOU

So he'll get 60 yards on 30 carries. Wonderful. I'm so happy for you.

Suh to the Dolphins for $114 mil.

Glad to see him out of the NFC North at least. I feel bad for Detroit fans, but I think they'd be happier keeping their cap space instead of destroying it over Suh.

Bye bye Suh :(

Knew the Lions wouldn't foot the bill on all three of Stafford, Megatron, and Suh. Makes sense that the chips fell how they did, although I wish they maybe would've prepared for it a little better by taking Donald in the draft last year (which I thought initially was going to happen).

Now it's likely Fairley, another FA, then draft one in the first three rounds and roll from there. Thankfully Austin is still around for another year.

Also appears I was wrong about the RB market for contracts.

McCoy and Bills agreed to a five year deal worth $40 million. This'll add 2 years to McCoy's deal once he's officially traded to Buffalo.

I don't get why they did that to themselves.

Yeah looking at the particulars, he's gonna get like $16.5 mil the first year of the contract thanks to a fat bonus. $26.5 mil is guaranteed.

Crazy numbers, the days of running backs getting paid that was supposed to be over.

The AFC East might actually be competitive for a change next year.

And Norcs, if Mariota goes to the Eagles, as a die-hard Oregon fan how do you not root for them after that?

Some more news coming in:

Byron Maxwell and Frank Gore are signing with the Eagles.

Julius Thomas signing with Jacksonville

Brandon Flowers resigns with San Diego.

Torrey Smith signing with the 49ers while letting Crabtree walk.

Jacksonville? Of all teams? That makes no sense. Thought Julius would go somewhere with an actual QB to throw to him.

The Salary cap (and to make him happy) are why he has a new deal.

The cap numbers are $5.5 million in 2015, $7.675 million in 2016, $8.875 million in 2017, $8.95 million in 2018, and $9.05 million in 2019.
Each year of that new deal is less than his current deal.

He'll be 31 at the end of the deal, so it's actually a pretty good deal.

Uh, and a young and potentially talented Blake Bortles isn't the guy to do that? If Bortles turns out, which I think he will, and they bring in Murray...that team has potential to be good.

I don't like Bortles personally. I think he's gonna be a bust. But either way Jacksonville needs a lot more than Julius and Murray to become a contender.

Also heard something today about Cecil Shorts to Miami.

And breaking news from the NFL Channel:

Patriots resign Devin McCourty to 5 year deal. In the $47 million range.

This along with resigning Revis might keep the Pat's strong secondary intact for a good stretch still. Interesting to see how they replace Wilfork if they bring him back on a cheaper deal.

Go to one of their games live and be around those fans, and you will see exactly how.

Its almost impossible for me to not feel a small burst of joy any time anything bad happens to them.

Although now there is a pretty intense anti-chip kelly rhetoric around here, so maybe itll be the other way around....It will be fun to see him shut everyone up
