NCAA Bowl Week 2010

I've never liked Locker and believe he is going to be a bust in the NFL. Anyone taking him in the first round is wasting a pick. At the very least Luck, Mallet, and Newton need to be taken before him.

I wouldnt touch Newton with a pick in the first three rounds, but that is just me.

Burkhead has been solid, nothing special.

Nebraska forgot they had a game to play tonight, UW is whipping the mess outta them

He's a solid guy. Played against him and his dad in a backyard game once.

I thought I was in the minority when it came to Newton. I haven't seen much of him, but I like Locker's skillset in terms of transiting into the pros than that of Newton's.

How is Locker's skill set better? Newton has a bigger arm, is more accurate, and is a better overall runner. Locker has a nice skill set too but not as good as Newton's and Locker has failed to reach the potential of his skill set.

Like I said I know very little or have seen very little of Newton, but what I've seen from Locker I've liked. Given that Locker doesn't have the greatest weapons and has to do it on his own at times. Also I take into account that Locker has seemed to block out all the negatives he gets from the media for staying in school, losing money, etc... Locker is also coming from a pro style offense and I value that compared to a QB coming from a spread offense. Cam Newton to me seems like an one hit wonder, I just don't buy into the hype. There was a reason Locker was a top projected pick at one time.

If an NFL team expects a one year turnaround like the Falcons had in 08 and Rams this year then clearly Luck or Mallett should be their first options. If they have a guy that can buy them a few years (like a McNabb or Palmer, a 2 or 3 year rental) then I think there's no reason they shouldn't take a shot on Locker and Newton. Both guys have some raw potential, but need some polishing (like Tebow was last year, although the Broncos somewhat caved on that plan after Orton went out with injury).

The dark horse here could be Blaine Gabbart, who McShay has as a top 20 overall prospect. I watched parts of the Mizzou/Iowa game and he had a few bad decisions (mainly the INT that was the game decider).

And this is exactly why I don't do bowl pickems for money. Too many times games like this will happen.

I think what a lot of people don't realize is that Newton doesn't really have many weapons around him either. More then Locker but still not a lot. Auburn was just a 5 win team in 2008 and then an 8 win team in 2009 and finished outside of the top 25. Newton IS the reason they went undefeated this year.

Locker hasnt fulfilled his potential at UW? It's because his team around him sucks. Auburn is a good team. Yes, Newton does make them that much better but still. They have a little more talent. And a better coach...

The talent this year on Washington is better then last year yet Locker's numbers went down. People need to stop using the talent thing as an excuse.

not really...

How so? They didn't lose any starters at the skill positions and their running back, Chris Polk, who had a good season as a freshman last year improved his numbers across the board as a sophomore. He had more yards a higher ypc average and a lot more touchdowns this year. The numbers from their top receiver, Jermaine Kearse, also improved across the board from last year to this year. Even with all of that, Locker's stats went down.

So, in a renewal of one of the top rivalries of the late 80's, Notre Dame and Miami are playing in SNOWY El Paso, Texas (yes, There was snow last night in EL PASO, TEXAS).

Notre Dame is playing. Not Miami. 21-0 early in the 2nd in favor of the Irish. Irish really looking good (especially with the White jerseys with the name on the back). They need to go back to names on the back, they've kicked ass both times they've done it recently (this game and the bowl game against Hawaii a couple years ago).

3 picks for Jacory Harris in the first 17:30 of the game. He's gotta get the hell out of this game. He's playing like total shit.

Notre Dame is gonna be one hell of a team in the coming years. Rees is still a True Freshman, Theo Riddick is gonna be an elite player too.

Notre Dame went 3 and out. That's been a rarity.

And they have pulled Jacory Harris. Stephen Morris is now in at QB for the Hurricanes. Lets see if he's better then Harris. It should be easy, Harris was pathetic.

Oopsies. Stephen Morris throws the ball right to Harrison Smith, who has 3 picks in the first half.

3 picks (thrown right at him) today, and he got lucky against USC by the receiver dropping the ball on the game winning TD after he fell. He's one lucky sumbitch, who needs to play the damn Lotto.

Miami is playing like shit. The punter shanked one. Bad passing, bad D, bad punting. Couple those with good play by the Fighting Irish, and no wonder it's 24-0 ND before Halftime.

I figured ND would win this one. Miami's QB play all year has been utter shit and ND came in pretty hot. Am definitely not interested in this game at all.

ND was coming in hot (3 in a row). However, all that momentum is gone when you consider that they haven't played for 3 weeks. Harris was beyond terrible, though. Morris is slightly better, but Tommy Rees is easily the best QB on the field today, and I would say that he's possibly earned the starting job next year with his performance. The Color guy on CBS said that this team would be a BCS bound team in a couple years, and I'm starting to believe the hype.

lol, irony that the Sun Bowl is being played in snowy/cold El Paso. It's warmer in Miami, AND in South Bend.

I never thought of anything special about Harris. He's way too careless with the ball for my liking, especially when he doesn't even mix that in with some good plays. I could see a ND win coming a mile away, just with how the two teams have been playing as of late (ND up, Miami down).

Golden I think is the right fit, but it'll take a few 8-4 and 9-3 years before they really get back to the 'U'.

Harris had very good moments/games, but was WAY to inconsistent. Today he was among the worst I've seen in all the bowl games this year. So many shit passes (right to ND defenders).

Miami isn't gonna get back to where they were in the 80's any time soon. In time, they can become a top team in the ACC, but they won't get that national recognition, mainly because the national media won't respect the ACC (or the Big East, or anything not SEC for that matter). Plus, part of getting back to that dominance they once had would be getting back to all signing of the bad apples.

Michael Floyd is (if he goes to the NFL) gonna be one of the top receivers. This kid is a beast.

Harris is too careless with the ball. First pick he threw up for grabs and didn't even give the receiver a good position to catch the ball.

And Shannon did a good job cleaning them up, image-wise, the guy just wasn't a good enough coach for the U's lofty aspirations.

And I was thinking more of the 01 National Title team's dominance.

Shannon did a good job. And they got rid of him because all he did was clean up the football program. That wasn't enough, he needed to clean it up and make them the best in the country. Too lofty expectations for a program that really fell on hard times.

And Miami's still in this. The Morris kid is playing good football (and Manti Te'o and Michael Floyd aren't in the game). ND up 13 with 4 minutes to go.

Miami got whipped like they stole something. Didn't even want ANY part of ND. They can no longer be called "The U"...Not one strong leader on the team, fuck sake.

AND HOLY SHIT dude, UCF is like "we dont give a FUCK about that black G on your red helmet BITCH"

I cant beleive that score
