NCAA Bowl Week 2010

I know, I had them as a dark horse contender for the national title, thanks very fucking much for waiting til the bowl game to prove it guys

I can't believe at these last 10-15 minutes (of real time) of this game. First the UNC receiver drops what would've been a 4th and 20 conversion. Then UT gets a 15 yard penalty on a 30ish yard catch, followed by another first down, which should've been followed by a penalty, a draw, chaos for the last 20 seconds, a five yard penalty, yet still 1 second left, and a game tying FG.

Gotta love NCAA Football, even if these games mean jack shit.

And now UT will start with a 15 yard penalty :lmao:

Actually, half the distance since UNC got the ball first. Mah bad.

Fuck. At least I won one game today. I had Kansas State winning but they had to call an excessive celebration penalty and make them have to go for two at the 18-yard line.

10-7 so far. Quite respectable considering how tough these games are to pick.

If Washington/Nebraska matches half of that entertainment, I'll be pleased.

That's a pretty solid W-L record Megatron. Mine is like 3-14 or something like that, I've been terrible. I just can't seem to pick bowl games haha.

Good to see Locker is alright and back in the game. Picked Nebraska, but I'd love to see Locker finish his college career with a win.

Yeah, the small bowls at the beginning are the toughest ones to pick. You rarely (unless you're an avid follower of that team or the conference they're in) know much about the teams and it's a lot of a crapshoot. There were a few that were pretty obvious (Boise over Utah, OSU over Arizona) but a lot of the times you don't know how a team will react to the bowl it's put in (a la Alabama in 08 when it played Utah in the Sugar Bowl). Plus, sometimes team improves if they manage to meet each other again in a bowl (like Nebraska and UW).

Never had tried it for money, though. It would be too much pressure and I wouldn't have a lot of confidence putting any kind of money on 18-21 year old kids, since you don't know where their heads are at with these bowl games.

Through 6 quarters vs. Nebraska, Jake Locker is a whopping 4 for 27 (including 0-fer today). I know he might have the "tools" but I'd be quite shocked if he was picked in the first round. He needs some tweaking somewhere before he can be thrown in with the wolves. And he may have cost himself some millions for not going in last year (when he would've probably been a top 10 pick and challenged Bradford for #1). Nothing but a project at this point. If someone drafts him they better have a veteran that can control the team for 2-3 years (like what the Packers did with Rodgers; look how he turned out). I know people want these young QB's to be thrown out there right away with some of the big successes they had early (Ryan, Flacco, Bradford, Sanchez) but I would take my dear ol' time with him.

EDIT: And there's his first completion.

Hey man to be honest, ive always felt that way about Locker as well. I would definately take him as a developmental talent, but certainley not as a first round saviour

I'm a big fan of Jake Locker and I think he is going to be a damn good QB someday. I wouldn't start him right away, but if he finds a time willing to give him the time of day and show him that he is the future he will do just fine. I just love the talent the kid possess. He is a decent passer, good on his feet, and overall just a great athlete. If he has the weapons around him and doesn't have to do it all by himself he will be just fine.
