Judgment Day: CM Punk Vs Umaga

Mighty NorCal

SHALL WE BEGIN?
fucking sweet. this should be excellence. Brilliance. I love it. Umaga's agility and high impact offense with one of the better sellers in the whole E. Umaga can sell like pussy too, so those CM Punk kicks will look great. This match is gonna rock, very good big guy - little guy dispositions. My only question being, do they out him over after he loses clean to Kane? over a returning Umaga? Doubtfull. and thus, the MITB slide further and further

I think that umaga should win this just becuase with cm punk being mintb it makes him look like a bigger star the umaga and right now we need new people stepping up and i think that if umaga wins over cm punk that would get a jump up for a new person and thats what we need right now

Once again, another boring match. At least WWE is pushing this match unlike the Kane/Punk match at Backlash. If I had to choose though, I say Umaga goes oover as long as they dont make this match for the MiTB Briefcase next week.

Hasn't Punk already put on a shitfest with Umaga before? No different here. I laugh at WWE thinking putting Punk over piles of shit like Umaga and Kane is really something marks should be wowed by. Punk's not going to get main event over if they keep putting him in the ring with these scrubs. Seriously, put Punk in a lengthy feud with a hated heel and stop with this crap.

Umaga's not going to lose this quickly since his return. So this will be a DQ or countout.

:zzzz:

i really see punk getting the win in this one. all the "home-town hero" stuff aside, Umaga is just a belligerent monster heel character, nobody is coming to that arena to see him win, they wanna see him put on a good match but ultimately lose to CM Punk.

Having said that, i am a big fan of Umaga and feel he does deserve a push, just not at the expense of Mr. MITB

Looking forward to this match, I'll get back to you in August when I buy it on DVD.

Total domination by Umaga. It'll be almost a squash. Why? Because it'll look more impressive when Punk beats him next time. It'll be the same system as the Jeff Hardy/Umaga matches.

Has the reason behind the Umaga attacks been explained at all? He just attacks punk for 2 weeks, and they get a match at a judgment day? Meh. Should be an alright match, not expecting anything spectacular here. I wouldn't be surprised to see Punk pick up the lose here. He can pick up the lose, and go into a mini feud with Umaga. Pick up the win in their next match, and look stronger going into his eventual title feud i assume he will have. This feud should be a step in the right direction to make Punk look more credible.

Well, there's no real point to Umaga. He's samoan and doesn't know better. He sees meat and goes after it. It's what he does. I bet he'd eat the damn briefcase and strain out bits of it while eating Casaba Melon.
......

Anyway, this is going to be a terrific match. I want to see Umaga taste the knee of Punk. Him putting him in that move would be epic. Or another loss for Punk. That would be kinda bad. Considering he's a walking title shot with the MITB. It'll be interesting to see what happens.

Guys seriously I know what you are thinking and this might be a good match , but hey this is wwe we are talking about !!! in this story wwe always have the monster dominates then at the last second the underdog gets a fluke win .
Ohh and this is not going to even touch cm punk vs samoa joe !!!

I am not hatting punk and umaga are one of my current favorite wrestlers but what are the chances that wwe will let them go all the way , I just dont wana raise my hopes up for this match just to get let down . Do not fool your self what happened between punk and joe was a classic it will not happen again !!
but I hope so  .

Hmmmmm. Let's all not think too hard on who is going to win this match.

CM Punk, who is the MITB winner, who just jobbed to Kane at the last PPV ....

OR

Umaga, the Samoan Bulldozer Jobber to the Stars, who the majority of the public could care less about. The guy who has essentially done diddly squat since the program with Lashley.

Ummmm, yeah. I think my money is on Punk.

Punk will get the win here and may even cash in after the WHC match. Umaga just came back weeks ago and this feud was rushed to say the least. These two may continue a little bit more after Judgement Day. We'll see what happens. Don't know how this feud will go over just because its been a short "feud" so far. Punk will win though since Umaga hasnt been back for long.

I'm a huge fan of CM Punk, so I was disappointed when he jobbed to Kane. With that being said, if the WWE is going to make Punk succeed this year as a main eventer, they really should have him go over cleanly here. But this is the WWE, where the future stars are squashed, and the big fat guys who have no realistic chance of carrying a brand on their shoulders, are the ones who win the matches on pay per view. If Punk wins, I will be greatly surprised.

The thing that shits me off is that the WWE should have learned by now that having your Mr Money in the Bank constantly lose does not help ANYONE. If Punk loses cleanly to Umaga but cashes in his Briefcase later on in the night, not only does it make Punk look like shit but it makes the World Heavyweight Title look like crap. Think about it, your World Heavyweight Champion is a guy who lost cleanly to Umaga and Kane in consequtive months. However, Punk beat Edge on Smackdown two weeks ago, cleanly. Hopefully that was a sign that the WWE in intent on pushing Punk this year as a legitimate main eventer.

To continue this trend, Punk needs to win cleanly here. I don't think he should cash in at Judgment Day, because I think Edge should keep the Title until SummerSlam. At Extreme Rules this feud can continue, where Umaga and Punk could have a brutal gimmick match. Please WWE, don't rush Punk's push but more importantly, do not have him get squashed in this match.

Despite being a Punk fan I'm not really looking forward to this match either. Punk REALLY REALLY needs to win this. If he loses, it will be a big dissapointment. He has the money in the bank and I doubt he will lose it like Kennedy did. Yeah he lost to Kane on the last ppv, but now he needs to be built up as a legit threat to the world champion, starting with a win here.

Dagger Dias prediction: CM PUNK
_

Cm Punk has beaten the current champion cleanly already, only to have Umaga come in a bulldoze his chance of cashing in his title shot.
How do you figure they havent given him a legit build if he pinned the guy who IMO is the soul of the WWE today. Edge wasn't just pushed to the moon because he had a famous daddy(Orton), a good look to him (Batista) or a sea of annoyingly latchable catch phrases that kids thought were cool (Cena).
Edge Earned his time through putting on tremendous mid card preformances and building his personality and mic skills to a point where he basically talks circles around anyone who is faced with the unenviable task of trying to hold they're own in a promo with him (say for Jericho who is just sublime on the mic).

My point is Edge is a guy who is a nine time champion for very good reason, and he is quietly the most engaging main event fixture in the company IMO.
And not only did Punk beat him, Punk beat him cleanly. That shows that they are clearly gearing Punk towards legitamite main event status.
I personally would love to see a heel turn before the belt is put back on him, but I doubt this is likely given the rash of heels already in place on SD and the lack of notable faces due to injuries to taker and Hardy's impending departure. So I think this is a good way to build Punks status, by having him go round and round with Umaga a couple times, perhaps a hard fought loss tommorrow night and then a hard earned victory at extreme rules.
After that i'm am really hoping, as I have said before, that they put him to ork with Jericho for a while. Jericho can make him shine as a face and make him a better preformer while doing so.

I think Jericho should cost him his MITB shot , maybe even steal it out from under him. Forcing him to deal with Edge before he is able to get his hands on Jericho. I think a program involving these three could easily carry on through the summer and fall months as these three could find countless ways to up the proverbial ante.

So I think Punk/Umaga is definately a start on the right track. I'm sure the potential program I layed out is not what will go down, but i'd love to see it.
However i am eager to see Morrison, benjamin, Knox and others to get into the main event mix as well.

Umaga hasn't impressed me in the little time I've seen him, so hopefully this match will. If they can do a good match, I'll start believing in Umaga. I like Punk, too.

It's really a toss-up who wins.

Youmanga wins - I'm guessing, since this is his first match, Umaga will get the win. Vince has a love for jobbing people in their hometowns, and Punk shouldn't be any different. Maybe, Umaga will attack Punk after the match, and cause him to miss the rest of the PPV. I think match has potential to be good with both these guys being talented.

I was SO so disappointed with this. I had such high hopes and expectations, and it just fell really flat. Seemed like they begun to have the right idea towards the end of the match, but it was just too slow and long winded getting there, and once they did, it was only good for about 3 minutes. It was fine, but a huge disappointment for me, persoanally. C+

I'm just a bit confused at why Punk lost. I won't be surprised if he just entirely forgets about Umaga and we move onto someone else for Extreme Rules. It was such a let down at a match I was sure that Punk was going to interfere later. When Batista powerbombed Orton, I was like "yeah, here comes Punk". Never mind.

He lost because they want to continue the feud. If the face defeats the monster straight away then there's nowhere left to go. Punk will win the gimmick match at Extreme Rulez and the final match of the feud on Smackdown.

Don't you know anything Sam.

That's what they said about Kane. Did you even read my post? You didn't, did you? You read the first line. Damn it, Jake. I worked hard on that thing. It was a well thought out analytical response, I felt.

I think Jake is right, and the fact that they had Punk try the GTS so many times means that he will either eventually hit it, in what might be a pretty crazy moment (or if he botches it, will be crazy hearing JR and Grish try and sell it as good) or he will "debut" a new submission move (basically start using the Anaconda Vice again) to help him beat the bigger opponents, which he has often failed to do.

Well it could be that however Punk has also lost his last 2 PPV matches....it is also possible they are building to turn him heel in the near future with Edge going face (for a possible Edge/Jericho showdown).

Personally I think they are failing right now with what they are doing with Punk seeing as he is Mr.MiTB and if they want to put the strap on him they need to build him up and 2 PPV losses in a row are not good IMO.

The match in itself last night was not all that great either so hopefully we don;t see these 2 again at the next PPV because I have very little hope right now.
