Grand Theft Auto IV

It feels weird when I encounter people who haven't been on the bandwagon, such as Will. There are four main trailers, and tons of mini trailers for the characters Will, look them up. Had some fun this morning when, having realised my own car had mysteriously disappeared, I decided to acquire myself a new one. I spotted a real beaut. Only problem being that the owner and his friend were occupying it. I yank 'em out, obviously. I drive it down to the end of the street and spin round, coming back down to see if they'll try to take it back. They do. In old GTA style I try and speed away as they open the door. Another problem arises, one of the little buggers is still holding on, flapping in the wind like a flag. I spin quickly around the corner, supposedly killing the guy by slamming him head on into a taxi. This is why the Euphoria engine rocks.

I love how people worked so hard and waited so long to get this game, and I just casually strolled into Target at 2:30 this afternoon and bought. Had my choice of copies...plenty to go around.

I've only played it for a few minutes, but it looks pretty decent. More on this later.

I ordered it from Gamestop because thats what was easiest for me. Then it turned out they would be late, so I sort of screwed myself. Its not that I worked hard at all, the Gamestop is two minutes from my work.

There are PLENTY of copies still in stores. I said before, I used to work at Target and they NEVER run out of any video games. When Vice City was on the news for people getting in fights over who gets the last copy at Best Buy, we had at least 15 copies in our store alone.

The game is pretty good, its still your same GTA format with a lot of good upgrades.

Well a game this big there of course is gonna be a lot of extra copies made, unless Rockstar wanted to be pricks and decide to make the supply less than the demand.

So you should be thanking all those people who reserved the game. If it wasn't for them I doubt you could of casually walked into Target and bought it.

This post may contain spoilers, and I refuse to use spoiler tags. I'll try and not give stuff away from the story.

Alright, I've gone from thinking this game is pretty good, to thinking it's pretty fucking awesome. And I can't believe that I've only scratched the surface. Word of advice, when you have to steal a cop car, don't put a bullet (or a shotgun shell, in my case) in the head of both cops. Damn near impossible to escape three stars worth of cops, but it does create some nice chase style sequences, and is far more enjoyable than previous games.

I've done quite a lot since my last post, including screwing Michelle. She really likes that diner I took her too. The drunk driving minigame is awesome too. Too much stuff to list really, but there's a cool thing to talk about every few minutes. Like I said, I've barely begun too. Fucking A!

I did the same with San Andreas... People were scrambling for it a few days before pre-ordering it and what not. I strolled into Game in the early afternoon and there were loads of copies. Some people who pre-ordered from Websites didn't get theirs till the Monday after me I was in stitches.

I'll be getting GTA 4 at some point, when I pick up a 360 or a PS3... not really been bothered with either of them since then came out but I'll get one for GTA 4 if it's as good as people say it is.

Another cool thing I noticed. I stroll in from another day of killing drug dealers, going to the cabaret and crippling old ladies and sit down to receive my rest in front of the TV. To my amazement they had Ricky Gervais stand-up. It was in GTA graphics of course, and it just seemed to be audio clips from his three shows over it, but I thought that was pretty damn impressive. And God, I love the guns on this game - the combat is so much more satisfying and meaty... like everything else I guess.

I ended up walking into Target at 3:30 and buying it. There were plenty of copies left. So far I've gotten pretty far into it, but I doubt I'm even close to 1/16th of the way done. The game is sweet as hell. I've noticed different animations for every time I've run someone over. This game is sweet!

The driving is really hard as it's more realistic, but you just gotta get used to it. The game is awesome, bowling pwns, i can't play darts for shiz, and the blood stains on my car hint that i am a great driver. The combat system is way more realistic than in the past, but it adds a nice touch along with dodging and taking someone else's weapon away from them.

While I haven't checked yet, I'm curious does Wal*Mart sell the game? And if they do, would it somehow be edited? The closest town I have, is one where I'd likely buy the game from.. and it only carries a Wal*Mart.

I know this could sound completely stupid.. but Wal*Mart refuses to carry selective things, such as "too violent" of games. And they carry nothing but edited c.d.'s. (except for those slip through the cracks type c.d.'s that have one or two songs with foul language that aren't promoted)

Anyways, if Wal*Mart carries this game. Which I have no choice but to assume they'd be stupid not to. Is it just like all the rest, full of unedited, uncut violence and adult material or is it somehow PG'ed down??

(The reason I ask, is because GTA:SA was pulled from the shelves then repackaged, edited, from what I heard due to the imfamous "hot coffee" glitch/code/whatever)

San Andreas i think was pulled down and repackaged everywhere because of that mod. I'm pretty sure that Wal-Mart should carry it, if they didn't it would be a stupid financial decision. You should check, because i remember a long time ago they were selling a vice city, gta 3 package so im pretty sure Wal-Mart carries it. Might as well check though for the heck of it, or check the Wal-Mart website to see if they do.

Yes, Wal Mart does carry this game...Well atleast the Wal Marts here in Iowa. I do know Wal Mart wasn't carrying M rated games for awhile, but the ones here all had Mass Effect & I know for sure they have GTA: IV.

When you sleep with someone, you get the "Warm Coffee" achievement. Made me chuckle a little bit. Sex with prostitutes is a little more graphic than with a date, so I put a bullet in their head after and let the lord sort 'em out. Also put a bullet in the head of a trucker who was stealing them. Stood on my car and blam, blood everywhere. One star is so easy to escape, I took off in his slow piece of shit truck. Good times.

I still haven't done too much on it. I've used cheats to get weapons so I can just kill loads of people. Which I always found more fun anyway. I've managed to have sex with Michelle, I was dissapointed they didn't show anything. I don't know why. Two dates though, bowling and darts. Easy girl.

I read somewhere that certain decisions change the whole aspect of the game, I guess thats good. But I'm annoyed at what mission I might miss out on. Although I'm sure it won't differ that much.

All I need now is the cheat so I can get my beloved tank.

Jake I hate to break this to you, but apparently there aren't any tanks on the game whatsoever. Like, it isn't actually present in the code or something. Sorry big guy.

As for me, I'm going down the straight and narrow. I'm not doing any cheats - just like I did for Liberty City Stories bu not any GTA before that, even the 2D ones. And I went on four dates with Michelle before trying my luck. SHe also doesn't seem to care if you don't call her for about a week. I mean, she mentions it but still lets you.

NO TANKS? Thats fuckin' bullshit. I'm no hardcore gamer, I can't complete the game without the tank.

Michelle is so easy it's unreal. I didn't try it on at first because I didn't want to miss some action. But after 30 minutes of playing pool with the bitch I decided I was owed something back. She accepted my penis, and has done the subsequent 10 dates. Nico is calling her strange once the date is finished. I now suspect that they're not having sex. Possibly just tickling each other or something.

If you ever try that dating service in the game, you'll find MUCH stranger women in there trust me.
Just beat the game not too long ago, it's awesome. You only make one decision in the game that affects it. I had a chick in there, went riding on a motorcycle, and accidently crashed and launched us both about 50 feet. Scared her and she didn't talk to me for a couple days. I'm a cheap date, Cluckin Bell or Burger shot is the best food you'll get from me. And the occassional Katt Williams show.

The dating aspect is fairly entertaining but it gets a little annoying. I took Michelle to a show and skipped the cut scene, then she said "we should have stayed for the whole show." Its stupid how I have to watch a five minute cut scene, I guess they are trying to make it like a real date i.e. I have to shit through this shit.

Police chases are my favorite part of the game, unless I'm in the middle of a mission. I ran from the cops at night in the rain while "Jailbreak" was playing on Liberty Rock. Then I hit a street pole and lost one of my headlights, to my amazement, it actually affected my vision. Then when I lose the other one I had no idea what I was running over. The only problem I have with the cops is that if you just nudge them in the middle of a mission, you're fucked.

Brahma- Next time you have a date on a bike, fly down the freeway as fast as you can and hit the guardrail. It will send you both flying down to the streets below. Then you die on impact, its hilarious. I sent Nico flying and he hit his head on a street post then died once he smashed into the ground.

I'ma have to try that haha, does your date die as well?
Theres a jump on the third island, pretty close to the shortest bridge you come in on. You jump across the little river going through there. I hit the ramp wrong and started to do a 720 backflip, and when i was close to the ground, and i was coming around on the backflip, i smashed the back of my head on the freakin concrete leaving a hardcore crack in the concrete. I didn't die though....thank God i had my helmet on.
There's not alot of clothing stores in the game though, only 3 i think which i think sucks, but the internet thing is amazing.

I'm not sure if your date dies, I was alone on the bike when I did it. I'm sure if she dies you'll still be able to call her and re-do the date.

The more things I discover in this game, the more I can see people wasting so much time "living" in the game. My friend was playing, got bored and watched TV on the game. After about a half hour he felt like playing missions again. All the little distractions make it hard for people to shut the actual game off. You can play pool, bowling, watch a show, or watch TV. I can see people losing track of time and not realizing they played GTA 4 for a whole day.

This game is still the normal GTA format making the missions the same tiresome pattern, but at least Nico is a good character. Having the option of taking a taxi and GPS are nce additions, but overall this does very little to make the main missions feel any different. Also, does anyone know how your relationships effect anything in the game? I just wanted to drive around and cause trouble but Jake and Roman kept calling me and everytime I didn't answer it gave me a thumbs down. Does that even do anything?

Depends on the relationship.
If you build up you relationship with Roman you get to use his taxi service for free. If you build it up with Jacob he supplies you with black market guns. Some of the people have really good perks into building a good relationship with, even some of the gf's you meet in the game have perks. One of them could heal you through the phone, and another you would call her and your wanted level would go away. Great shiz.

Oh that helps a lot. Still though, is there anyway to just dick around without having to deny a mission every two minutes? I went to a random lot and found a very fast car and wanted to drive until I totaled it. Roman called right when I entered so I denied him. My relationship with him went down as a result. Then not one minute later, Jacob called and I had to deny him as well. Is there anyway to just rome the city without messing up your game? I get phone calls from Roman, Vlad, or Jacob every mintute, its annoying.

I have no idea, i hardly ever got a call from them, i ignore them and wait for them to call me which is hardly ever. Try to establish your friendship/relationship with them until they are at the point where they trust you enough to give you all the perks and everything. Maybe after that they will stop buggin you so much. The game maybe helping you get those perks by wanting you to hang out with them so much, that could be it.

Whats it like? my copy came the day it was released but I haven't got my new PS3 yet which is a slight problem. My mate says its the best game ever and better than like the first 3 put together. I had a look at some screenshots and the graphics don't look that good?!

I got Grand Theft Auto IV the day it came out, and luckily got one of the last three copies in the store. Since then I've played the game a total of 21 hours, and have yet to become bored of it. This game has so much detail it is shocking. You can even choose the ring tone on your cell phone, which is simply amazing. The graphics make all the previous GTA's look as if they were designed by a four-year-old. The gameplay is great, the missions are fun, and there is a crap load of space to run around in.

The plot is reasonable, and interesting. The charcter, Nikko Belic, is believable, and perfect for this enviroment. The gamplay is just simply amazing. I love how if you fail a mission you can keep on playing. That means most people will have a completely different game. I like how the whole dating thing works (with Michelle).

There are so many little details that would make me stay here typing all night. But if I were to find one negative thing in this entire game is that it's hard to just drive around pointlessly because you have people constantly calling you, and if you ignore them, your relantionship with them will fall.

The graphics are not that good. The controls are not that good either. Last night I realized something, GTA being GTA allows it to get away with so much and still get a perfect score. Free roaming with many possibilities are what makes this game great. The missions are stupid, the controls are below averages, the cover system would be bashed to hell be reviewers if this were any other game, and the aiming is still bad. The games main attracton is that you can do whatever the hell you want. Don't get me wrong, its a great concept and I still love it, but when stacked up to other shooting, cover, and driving controls, its some of the worst.

Actually, it goes to show that my argument of solid gameplay is a must is wrong. This games controls are pretty bad, yet since they are focused on the concept of free roaming, they never really notice.
