Glass Ass: The OFFICIAL JGlass Thread

Meanwhile, I've been delving into the careers of Lynch, Polanski, Kurosawa and Kieślowski - because I don't feel as if I'm nearly pretentious enough.

I did my dissertation on a couple of Kurosawa films, man was a frigging genius. Need to crack into his crime collection I got last year though but Throne of Blood is a superb Shakespeare adaptation.

I like 500 Days of Summer. A lot. I have a poster of it hiding in a closet somewhere. A shame I grew out of posters. Actually, that's not a shame at all. Just part of being a man.

When I find the next Speed Racer - hint: it sure as shit isn't Pacific Rim - I'm going to keep quiet about it. Just for this.

I do love Speed Racer. It probably cracks my top 10 to be quite honest. If you find another hidden gem like that, I'd appreciate it. After all, I did give you a lovely opinion on Fruitvale Station.

Real art is pictures of men riding horses.

Your life is comparable to a Rockwell print in a doctor's office. It is technically art but in the dullest form while still managing to reek of sadness and pain.

So is the search for a new home looking like it is going to work out?

That... hurt a little.

I already have it lined up, have for a couple months now. I'm moving back to Boston on Saturday night and moving into the new house on Sunday. It's kind of a dumpy looking place, but it has plenty of space and it's in a decent location, so it should be a good place to live for a year. Doubt I'll renew the lease, though.

I'm also living with four other guys, so that's also a thing.

At least you will be able to shower with your roommates without awkward sexual tension. Should cut down on the amount of times that you have to wait on them and end up late for your morning activities.

This is a good point because while there are five bedrooms, there is only one bathroom. We might have to double up on toilet use as well.

I am quite wise. It is no wonder that you along with many others look to me as a father figure.

Do you have an unfinished basement? You could store piss jugs down there so that you don't have to cross streams, that should be saved for one single good friend. That way you can regulate your poops, as young men can, so that restroom use should never be a problem!

It's starting to get scary how accurate you are with this house. Yes, we do have an unfinished basement, but we share it with the house's other occupants. It's a two family house, but it's likely that the other tenants are going to be college students from Tufts or some shit, so they shouldn't push back too hard.

In addition to an unfinished basement, we also have an overgrown, but fenced in backyard. What can we do with that?

That is because he is hiding underneath the stairs waiting for you to find his secret room. While you foolishly believe it is just a simple conversation.. This is all a series of riddles to lead you right to him.

Pretend you are a scientist. Explore and report back. If you find a body, dont worry- he isnt your concern.

BTW- have you seen Clear History with Larry David and John Hamm?

Well then. It warrants a watch. Not going to blow your socks off, but it is funny. More of the awkward situations that only Larry David could get into. The cast was pretty good in their parts - like Michael Keaton and Bill Hader. They were hilarious.

Now, Mama on the other hand is crap. I finally watched it yesterday and was not impressed. Just fell short for me and felt predictable. More predictable than normal for a horror movie.

JGlass you're into this post apocalyptic shit, what were your thoughts on The Road (assuming you've seen it of course, if not it's now on Netflix).

Loved it. A very haunting movie that pulled no punches. Possibly the most hopeless post-Apocalyptic movie I've ever seen, and as such it's one of my favorites.

Cut it. Don't be a slob, take some pride in your home.

So yeah, I followed through on your suggestion, and I went to the theaters to see Blue Jasmine earlier today, and it was amazing. Definitely in my top 3 this year, the best romcom, and Cate Blanchett is just outstanding. I know it's early, but Blanchett has to be a clear cut favorite for the Best Actress Oscar.

And Woody Allen still has a few tricks up his sleeve. Just when you think he's settled into this mode of churning out romantic comedies year after year for the sake of churning out romantic comedies, he comes out of nowhere and delivers something like Midnight In Paris or Blue Jasmine.

Glad to hear you enjoyed it as much as I did. I was actually thinking during the first few scenes how amazing it is that Woody Allen, this dorky Jewish standup comedian, is quite possibly one of the greatest directors of all time. Blue Jasmine was beautifully shot with those amazing long takes.
