Wanna get depressed real quick? Play Wrestlemania 21 for Xbox, and see how sickening close it is to what we have today.

THQ is like the fucking Dallas Cowboys. Oh, we did great things 15 years ago, so it doesnt matter that we have not improved / regressed since then. Yes, you made the four greatest games in history (wrestling, I mean)......but seeing what this looked like compared to what we have now was a fucking slap in the face. It was actually MORE polished in some ways.

Obligatory Madden comment.

I never played it, as I never owned an XBox.

However the ironic thing is that the game isn't made by the same people that made the WWE games. WM21 was developed by Studio Gigante. Studio Gigante closed right after WM21 flopped.

The X-Box predecessors (RAW and RAW 2) were developed by Anchor Inc.; AKI developed the N64 games. Yukes made the Playstation 1 games, PS2 Games, and all the PSWii60 games.

THQ was just the publisher of all the games. They oversaw the development, but weren't really involved. Sadly Yukes is still involved in WWE 2K14, but Visual Concepts (company who makes all the 2K sports game) is also involved, so they will hopefully inject some new life.

Yeah dude, thank goodness 2k picked it up. I can't wait to see what they're able to do with the game. I'm hoping for a full blown reboot.

Wrestling games reached their peak with No Mercy 64.

The hours spent on that game were massive. I agree with u there. No Mercy was fantastic to play.

Trying to fully complete all the potential outcomes of the title trees was fantastic.

I remember having one of the most fun matches ever against Cactus Jack for the Hardcore Title. That fucker just kept kicking out! Think it took 3 finishers, a top rope powerbomb and a stolen double arm DDT finisher on a STOP sign to finish him off.

I remember having a difficult time of it with Andre too and trying to win the Royal Rumble from some ridiculously early number remains one of the hardest things to do in a wrestling game.

No Mercy was legendary, but it's nearly unplayable now. The game is so damn slow and lethargic, and if there's 4 characters on the screen it takes like 5 seconds to run across the ring it's so slow.

While No Mercy may not have aged all that well, I think that modern wrestling games could benefit from being a little less fast paced. All the action happens far too rapidly with your opponent getting up straight away only for you to put him straight down again with another move and eventually win in about 3 mins.

There is very little room for what I would call memorable matches.

WWE All Stars still has the best gameplay I've seen in a wrestling game in years. Those who don't like a fighting game arcade feel might not like it. Wrestling games now feel a bit too simulated and slow for my taste though.

Funny you guys are talking about No Mercy; last night, I ran across a Nintendo 64 and WWF War Zone. The nostalgia glasses in regards to classic gaming is firmly on my face, but I got a taste of just how much wrestling games, and games in general, have evolved.

Indeed. I enjoyed it immensely for what it was, and thought it was more enjoyable than any of the recent entries in the WWE (or whatever) franchise.

It really just reminds me of how we dont really need so many created character clothing patterns and options to have a good game. The character editor then fails in comparison to the ones now, but for what it was, the options were pretty good. The core of the game and matches were just so addicting.

So I had to go into New York City with my dad toady to help him take some dishware samples to his company's showroom (he's a salesman), but we got stopped on Madison Avenue while trying to cross the street by a couple of PAs for a movie shoot, because apparently there was about to be some sort of chase scene. I tried to ask them what movie they were shooting, but they were pretty busy trying to stop people and coordinate with each other, so I left them alone.

Well, it was pretty obvious what movie they were shooting when a van zipped by followed by a few police cars, and one of them had Spider-Man standing on top of it.

Spider-Man is going to be in Avengers 2? That's awesome!

The rumors I've heard about the casting and plot of the movie I peg Amazing Spiderman 2 as either really good or disappointingly bad. Though I hope it's the first as I like Emma Stone and the cinematic possibilities Electro can bring to the table. As of now it may have more villains than Spiderman 3 and they've already set release date for ASM 3 and 4.

More than likely its just ASM 2. Sony has already confirmed 3 & 4 being made, so doubtful they'll be lending Garfield to Disney. The Disney Marvel movies have been shooting in the Midwest.

Well this movie has at least 3, if not 4, villains in it. The actors pegged to play the antagonists are top notch though. It looks like they're setting up for a Sinister Six movie down the road.

Yeah this is exactly what I've heard, which could be very interesting if done right. Though them not knowing who the villain was at the end credits of the first one does worry me, plus I'm sad all Marry Jane scenes have been cut from ASM 2 and she'll be recast in the third.
