Glass Ass: The OFFICIAL JGlass Thread

How is Chicago's zoo? I've been to most of the great zoos of America: San Diego, DC, Detroit, Philadelphia, Bronx... as well as few other lesser known zoos like San Francisco, Central Park, and then the small one in West Orange, New Jersey. Despite spending a large chunk of my life in Boston and Rhode Island, I've never been to their zoos, but those are pretty much second and third tier zoos as well.

But yeah, how is Chicago's zoo?

The Nashville Zoo's pretty good - probably not as grand as some others, but we do have most, if not all, of the major attractions.

St. Louis' is free and it's always ranked at or near the top of zoos in the country

Eh, I don't see myself going to Nashville any time soon, though I'm more likely to go to Nashville than...

I don't see myself going to St. Louis anytime soon, but if I do I'll definitely hit up your free, excellent zoo.

Nashville's got some cool stuff... Country Music HOF, Rhythm and Blues monuments, The Nashville Zoo, Fisk museum, Tennessee State historical museum, Opry Mills mall, General Jackson showboat, the Parthenon replica, Percy and Edwin Warner national parks, and the south's largest New Years Eve celebration.

Nashville is a sweet place. Spent a few days there in 2007. Very fun time.

I'm pretty sure it's like, one of the most crime ridden cities in the country, but I hear it has nice things too, like a zoo.

It has its bad spots, but it's not nearly as bad as Chicago, for example. There aren't people getting murdered everyday or anything like that.

St. Louis has the sports teams, plus the fact that most tourist attractions have free admission.

What are you, on the Nashville Tourism Board or something?

No, but seriously, Nashville isn't quite on my list of places that I have no interest in going, there are just other places I'd rather go to for a trip than Nashville. I'm more of a beach vacation type of cat.

Was I convincing enough?

I don't really like the beach, yeah sure, it can be fun, but I'd much rather be snow skiing since I never learned how to surf.

I went surfing once. It was awesome.

I actually hate going to the beach unless I'm walking to the beach. Staying at a hotel, condo, or house by the beach is awesome. You can wake up whenever you want, have some breakfast, grab a chair, towel, and book and hit the beach. Get hungry? It's a quick walk back to HQ for lunch, and then you can come right back to the beach.

The beach is wonderfun except for 3 things. Sand, salt water, and waves.

I live an on island and have no use for the beach. Figure that.

I fully understand that many of the things that make the beach awesome for some people is what makes it terrible for others. And then there are some things about it that are just terrible in general, like guidos and people with loud children.

I'm not too found of overly hot whether either. I'll take freezing my ass off on a slope of powder or ice, rather than my whole body becoming one big sun burn.

I live a good 15-20 minutes from South Beach and I hateeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee it . I don't know if it is the fact it has become a massive tourist trap, or just my general disdain of washing out sand in rather uncomfortable areas I just hate going to the beach.

I don't mind the cold so much after living through 5 New England winters, but I make it a point not to spend too much time outside.

I hear the city of Miami kind of sucks unless you're wealthy. Without the dough you don't get to do any of the fun stuff.

I lived in Utah for 2 years and grew very found of the cold because it was consistent. The weather in Nashville can change more often than a bipolar hormonal, moody woman on her period.

Calling any kind of weather "consistent" in Utah isn't the best choice of words.

"Oh, look -- it's 95 degrees outside." *ten minutes later* "HOW THE FUCK IS IT SNOWING?!"

Sounds like North Dakota. That's always been our saying. Don't like the weather here, wait ten minutes it'll change.

For consistency, it's motherfucking cold in the winter. It's ridiculously humid and typically hot in the summer. Spring and Fall are toss ups. It can be 85 degrees one day, and 25 the next with 3 inches of snow.

:lmao:

That's what we say here in Utah.

Our Winters are really cold (Echelon was right, I just though consistent wasn't quite the right word) and we get boatloads of snow. The Summers are hot and dry, but we can get rain like no other (we had four days of storms this week, out of nowhere -- the days were hot, and the nights were storms).

We've suddenly become Seattle Jr. here. Except for maybe two days we've had rain every day for the last two weeks. We got a break today and tomorrow, but it starts right back up on Monday again. I've had to check my basement drainage area to make sure I don't have to get the sub pump going that's how much we've had.

I don't recall it ever being that hot, probably because there's no humidity and the air is clean. Moab was above 100 though; it wasn't pleasant. But I'll take hot and dry over hot and sticky any day. In Nashville it could be 95, but the humidity would make it feel like 110.
