Glass Ass: The OFFICIAL JGlass Thread

We've suddenly become Seattle Jr. here. Except for maybe two days we've had rain every day for the last two weeks. We got a break today and tomorrow, but it starts right back up on Monday again. I've had to check my basement drainage area to make sure I don't have to get the sub pump going that's how much we've had.

I don't mind the rain, but I can't stand it when it's consistently raining. Give me a day of rain every once in a while, not every day. That sucks though, man. I'm pretty sure we're about to hit the typical dry spell we get every Summer.

I don't recall it ever being that hot, probably because there's no humidity and the air is clean. Moab was above 100 though; it wasn't pleasant. But I'll take hot and dry over hot and sticky any day. In Nashville it could be 95, but the humidity would make it feel like 110.

It's probably just where you lived in Utah. The Salt Lake Valley isn't consistently in triple digits like Southern Utah, but it's in the 90s (even occasional 100+ days) every day during the peak of the Summer.

Actually, Seattle rarely has strong rain, it's mostly just drizzly there. Like, not even enough rain to warrant an umbrella type of rain.

But the Midwest has just been crazy for the past month or so. A few years ago it rained for like a week straight in my area and they had to close some major roads and we had to sub pump the basement, so I know how frustrating that shit is. Hopefully it starts to let up soon.

It's gone from strong rain to drizzle and back for half a month.

I don't mind rainy days, but this is getting ridiculous. We needed the rain badly but when we're starting to slightly worry about flooding I think we've had enough.

I didn't live far from SLC. Maybe 20 minutes. But yes, I do recall quite a few 90+ degree days... but there wasn't any humidity, and those late night storms you speak of were often godsends for the next day.

They're great when it isn't dumping rain every night. Tonight was great. I was out earlier tonight with some buddies, and we just sat around the pool for a few hours -- it was hovering around 75 degrees and it was spectacular.

We had scattered showers today, and I had to drop my aunt off at the next city and got stuck in a utter torrent. Twas fun. Nashville's had some serious flooding issues since 2010.

Sheesh. Utah floods during the Spring because of Winter runoff, but that's it.

Our flood was pretty serious though; I was in Bowling Green and missed out, but my mother described the interstates as looking like rivers from the air.

Here's a video...

Yikes. Hopefully that clears up soon. Stay safe.

Yeah, we've since recovered, but it took about 2 years. The city made adjustments to allow for more egress with the flood waters so this type of flood shouldn't happen again - but we do get minor floods. We also get freak tornadoes that go haywire every other year.

Another thing about Utah that I liked. The only severe weather we got was lots of snow. I think there were like F0 tornadoes in the valley; very minor.

Yeah Scarface is fantastic. The dialogue isn't exactly mind-blowing but I understand why it's an iconic film. It's far from the best crime film ever though.

I have been up and gardening since about 9 AM this morning. Needless to say, it has been a very hot, sweaty, and dirty morning, but not in the way I wish it was. Luckily, I'm done gardening (for now) and I got to take my first swim of the Summer just a few minutes ago, and it was phenomenal.

So yeah, sorry about the bad weather all my Midwestern buds, but if you want to come to La Casa de Glassy in New Jersey we have hot weather and a pool. BYOB.

We're suppose to get a high of 68 degrees, & lots of sunshine, with a slight 5-10 mph breeze. You ask me, that's about the most perfect weather you ask for.

You said it.

In response to my boredom, I've watched all of Spartacus and have blasted through season 1 of Arrested Development since Thursday.

At the ripe old age of 26, I had my first experience with a lawn mower this weekend. As cumbersome as it is, it did well to hack through the much too overgrown grass I had challenged it with. Unfortunately my extension lead is 2 meters short to allow me to get to the back of the garden, so I poured myself some cider and made a start on Bram Stokers Dracula, as well as photographing a couple of robins that inspected my work.

My weekend was actually quite good. On Friday I went out to dinner with my dad, on Saturday we went to a soccer game (where my team lost even though they were the much better team, but it was still a fun game), and today I went swimming. Not a weekend for the record books, but an enjoyable one nonetheless.

Just came back from seeing After Earth with my dad, okay movie but nothing special.

Finally got season one of Arrested Development on the DVR, time to see what the fuss is about.
