Glass Ass: The OFFICIAL JGlass Thread

Has anyone played the Army Men series on N64? Aside from anything Mario and Tony Hawk, Army Men: Sarge's Heroes was my favorite N64 game and is still a ton of fun today.

Fucking loved how you could run around with his head blown off. Damn I need to re-buy an N64 like now.

You might like NeverDead:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NeverDead

The protagonist is an immortal and will be able to survive severe injuries. Over time, the player will lose body parts and will have to collect the removed limbs by rolling into them. Players can cause large objects to crush nearby enemies, harming them but not the player. Gameplay will also feature puzzle elements. A female partner will assist the player, however she will not be immortal and the player will have to take damage to protect her

You can be completely dismembered and keep shooting. Supposedly it's a bit shit, but it sounds like a great concept, doesn't it?

Should point out that half of the GoldenEye team formed Free Radical Design - TimeSplitters, Second Sight - who are now Crytek UK.

I loved the creativity of the maps. When I was playing this game on the regular as a young child, the fact that I was running around in battle in the interior of a wall, or in a sandbox, inside of a refrigerator was just fucking awe-inspiring to me.

This is a real thing

Just watched a little gameplay of it on YouTube. Reminds me of R.C. Pro-Am.

I've got it, and to me it's better than R.C. Pro-Am. Some of the tracks are ridiculously hard though; the pool tables, especially the later ones, can be a bitch. Narrow pool cues to serving as bridges, pockets as hazards on tight turns at the corners, and pockets on the table that act as warps all test you manual dexterity. The "Tuff Trux" bonus stages can be a pain, too. All that said, though, it's a hell of a lot of fun, especially with a friend, as racing games often are.

I need to watch Moon. I keep telling myself I'll watch it one day, but I always forget. Is Sam Rockwell a better leading man than Jake Gyllenhaal?

Source Code - Duncan Jones' (AKA David Bowie Jr.) disappointing follow-up to Moon.

Agreed, Moon was fucking fantastic. I felt like he could have done so much more with the concept in Source Code. Hopefully he doesn't turn out to be a Suda 51 for movies.

He's the only person on the screen for about 80% of the film and it's the most compelling thing. Kevin Spacey reminds me so much of HAL in it it's unreal.

And it's on all your favourite platforms! And it's cheap as fuck! They really couldn't have made it any easier for you.

Had I heard it from anybody else I probably wouldn't have believed it.

Yesssss. It was a silly premise, but the game was actually a lot of fun.

I'm gonna dig my 64 our of the attic this weekend.

Yeah, I think I'm going to grab my Gamecube from the basement and hit up Gamestop to see if I can't grab a few of the titles we've mentioned.

Haven't seen Source Code, but it just seems like a radically different film from Moon.

Hard to say considering the character Rockwell played is hardly a traditional leading man, but I thought he played the character very well.

Kevin Spacey? A Space Odyssey reference? Well, Moon just shot up my list of movie priorities for this weekend.

You like Space Odyssey? Don't get me wrong, it's a pretty important film, but it's sooooo boring.

This is pretty much how I, and I believe most others, feel. There is an episode of Robot Chicken where they do a parody of a re-release of the film with naked women CGIed in, and they mentioned that "two hours is a long time to watch things float around in space set to classical music" but that isn't a huge stretch on what the movie actually feels like.

Kubrick succeeds the hard way in 2001 setting the scene for the isolation of the main characters, without the things he did in that film Moon would be nowhere near as effective. The problem is that like most great works its actually considered great because of its influence rather than its quality.

Films, games, books and music are ultimately entertainment and for all the high-minded ideas I have about them the only question you need to ask is "is it entertaining?" For 2001 the answer is extremely close to no.
