Glass Ass: The OFFICIAL JGlass Thread

J, we saw you lurking through the Green thread earlier.

Anyway, congratulations Blue team on being online.

I really wasn't, though. It's like, the 5th time I've accidentally clicked on your thread because I see the Blue Team part in it and my man brain is stupid enough to click it right away. You should see how many times I've walked into the wrong bathroom.

Okay, that was only once and nobody was in there, but it's still proof of how impulsively I react sometimes.

Yeah I did click yours once, but like you, never lurked around.

You're lucky you ain't gotta go through tribal again!

Dude, good luck. I checked Amazon and the game is costing an arm and a leg these days because it's not being made anymore I assume. It was like 80 bucks for a PC version so I assume that'll be the price for XBOX or PS2.

Yeesh! I know of two shops not far from my place that specialize in retro games, and both have good selections. I've never actually bought anything from one, but I've gotten a few PS1 and NES games from the other. I'm hoping I can find it at one of those before I have to turn to the internet.

But yeah the last mission is INSANE! You have to get from the power plant to the baseball field behind the school in like a minute with all the damn cars on the road so it's nearly impossible.

I'll pick up some extra Dual Shock 2's while I'm at the store, and set up a pillow to throw them at.

Simpson's Road Rage, $23. Get it while it's hot.

I actually tried to sell a few PS2 games I own back to GameStop because they're about to stop taking them, but they wouldn't take any of them because they were too old or unwanted. Really, there's only one PS2 game that I want to own: Soul Calibur 2. Though having Marvel Ultimate Alliance in my collection isn't a bad thing either.

Almost forgot about Road Rage. That one I did beat. Stayed up all night at buddy's house and we took turns. Probably spent an hour and a half between us trying to jump the Springfield Gorge.

Found a store with retro games today, and just got a haul of N64 games. Pretty happy and will probably play the shit outta them tonight, but perhaps the one I'm happiest with is Diddy Kong Racing.

Really, really underrated game. Also found this really awesome combo arcade system that had these games;

I just realized that I never actually played Simpsons Hit and Run, the game I played was Simpson's Road Rage, which was basically like Crazy Taxi with Simpson's characters.

I feel like the Simpsons could make a bundle off of a new sandbox Simpsons game. With massive worlds like those in GTA 4 and soon 5, Saints Row 3, Skyrim, Fallout, etc., could you imagine what they could do with an open world Springfield? And could you imagine being able to walk through the halls of Springfield Elementary, prevent a meltdown at the Nuclear Plant, escape from the dogs at Mr. Burns mansion, and then down a pint at Moe's Tavern?

I have no idea what the story would be, but just being able to explore Springfield would be pretty cool.

Dude, I loved Diddy Kong Racing! As a matter of fact, I might still have it in my attic.

I remember the WizPig music..... When I was in college, I used to hum it during my finals, and it reminded me how futile it was to try and beat WizPig.

I failed my finals

Diddy Kong racing was AWESOME! In fact, I reckon the only reason it wasn't more popular than Mario Kart is because it didn't have the famous characters and the special items weren't as much fun, but the races were awesome, and you had the hovercraft and airplane races on top of the go-kart races. Hovercraft races were especially awesome.

An X-Men/Simpsons combo game? That's interesting, especially because, and I could be misremembering, I think the X-Men arcade game was one of a very few games to have 5 joysticks instead of 2 or 4.

Diddy Kong Racing > Mario Kart 64

It really was; and I loved Mario Kart. Diddy Kong Racing was just more versatile, really

Pretty much this; I wanted to play it after watching this video. It led me down the rabbit hole to watch this guy named PCull who plays games on youtube.

I think it's because Konami made both games. And yeah, all they did was just make it so you couldn't play the extra controller

I HATED WizPig; you had to be nearly perfect to beat him. I remember I used to overtake him on the last lap and he'd end up launching by me at the very end.

He'd also kick you every time. It was legitimately rage quit worthy. Christ, it was awful, and that was just the first time.

Also, the battle minigames? So much better than Mario Kart

Yeah, Mario Kart had three advantages on Diddy Kart: character selection, special items, and it was out first and therefore able to build a more loyal fanbase.

Makes sense, but that's a shame. Playing that game with the entire crew joining in on the fun is so much fun. That game truly lives up to the phrase, "The more, the merrier."

The game had to be doing that obnoxious thing racing games do where they make you go slower if you're in the lead and the other person go faster when they're behind to keep it even, when in reality it just makes it nearly impossible to beat the best computer players. This is what happens when we let socialists make video games I tell you!

I loved the simplicity of the hovercraft, plane and kart in Diddy Kong, plus the coin levels, mirror mode and the time trials to unlock the flying machine that was TT.

There really was a fierce amount of gameplay in DKR.

Running into his feet when you're just behind him was probably the worst. The same thing used to happen when facing Tricky (I think), but he was way easier.

VERY fun. I used to sit down with a couple of buddies and we'd brawl over power-ups and try to run each other off track. Good stuff.

The term is 'rubber-banding'.

And I loved the way you drove/flew/hovered to your level and could explore the island. It was a small part of the game, but it was a really nice touch. It gave you the chance to understand the mechanics of your vehicle, and finding the various secrets of the island was a blast.

The weird thing is, I really wanted to see what Donkey Kong Racing was like.

And then Microsoft purchased Rare :(

If you want a modern day version of Diddy Kong Racing, and my personal favourite karting game of all-time, I can't recommend Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed enough. Absolutely fantastic game.

Disclaimer: Avoid the 3DS version.

We'll never get Conker's Bad Fur Day 2 :(

Whoa, there's a good post-Genesis Sega game?!
