Glass Ass: The OFFICIAL JGlass Thread

That was so freaking great. Dumbass really thought he got over on her, huh?

Dumbass indeed. I frowned at his insult-littered sentences and his overwhelmingly obvious sociopathic greed. I always wished that she'd just an inkling of what he was saying, and thought she did at points, whether through hope or Emilia Clarke's top-of-the-range acting. Baldie (sorry Barbosa, I do remember you telling me you are bald, I'd also like to extend my apology to all other baldies... unless they're anything like the mighty Daenerys's victim) got just what he derserved. It's nice to see that despite their upbringing, there were no voluntarily vile Unsullied too.

March on! And claim what is rightfully yours Daenerys Targaryen!

My new laptop came in, the part I needed to finish up a side job came in, that's complete and waiting for pickup, got a shit ton of work done on my projects at work, oh and my supervisor informed me that my company will start paying for my cell phone service now.

Making money, getting work done, saving money, getting new electronics, and Raw in 13 minutes. The only thing missing is alcohol but I don't drink on Mondays, but otherwise I think I had a good day.

I fucking love Daenerys Targaryen!

.... There, I said it.

Ain't nothing wrong with that. Last night's episode of GoT was amazing, easily one of the best episodes yet.

Lost 9.6 pounds this week, goal right now 265, why? To be at heavyweight so i can train to enter the cage and murder someone. 329.3 right now, just have to keep working, i'm going to be a fucking freak.

I saw that on Facebook. Congratulations sir, 10 pounds in one week is extremely admirable.

Just won the most preposterous game of Civilization. It became obvious that my road to victory was through coin, so I quickly set up all my cities to produce lots of it. That worked unbelievably well, and when I wasn't expanding cities I was building a pretty promising army. Unfortunately, I got caught off guard, and after letting a cold war with the Japanese go on for years without preparing for their arrival, I was shocked to see them tear through the Russian territory that separated us and they were knocking on my door. I managed to hold them off for a few turns, but soon enough they had taken over all of my cities except my capital. Fortunately, by that time I had begun to build the world bank and I had assembled all of my troops there to boot. I held off several waves of Japanese tanks before they gave up.

On top of that, I researched Communism late in the game and switched over to Communism to give my production costs a boost, thus cutting the wait time for my victory in half. So I won with an economic victory in a Communist country. I created a world bank, which I assume means I controlled the world's money, and I was running a Communist country. Oh, and we were the Aztecs, so there was that ridiculousness too.

Fucking awesome win game, though.

I'll file this under things I could have gone my whole life without hearing.

I am deep into a Datajack Angels (used random selection) on SMACX - they have espionage bonuses but I have had no need for them yet. Been quite a strange game so far as I have fought virtually no battles aside from against the local wildlife and a few skirmishes against the Manifold Caretakers. Because of that, I have been able to found 19 cities across the large continent I reside on and build numerous Formers to terraform it to give me vast amounts of nutrients, minerals and energy. Needless to say, I have a massive population although I will now have to convert some of that into military strength as I think I am about to be dragged into conflict with the Caretakers and probably the Usurpers too.

Is there room for a "Barbosa and JGlass Play Sid Meier Games" thread?

Confirm or deny: Daniel Bryan is more over than the Undertaker.

Deny, but Taker is a special, once in a blue moon thing. Bryan more than held his own and got probably the third loudest ovation (next to Taker and, believe it or not, JBL) of the night. The fact we were chanting "YES!" during a six man tag which featured the Undertaker was pretty much evidence of how over Bryan is.

One day...

One day Daniel Bryan Daniel-Son-Goatku won't need those fucking yes chants.

Top five definitely.

So the next week of my life has been ruined - the second proof of my book has arrived and I have to index it...

Have done as much preparation as I can but the sheer number of names, places etc. I have to catalogue means that it is going to take an awfully long time...

So I was at Raw last night...

Sounds like you shouldn't have any problem with that. What type of victory are you going for? It sounds like you can get any number of things with the way you have your faction set up.

Probably, especially considering I'm sure there are at least a half dozen people on this site that love the Civilization games and would enjoy a place to talk about it.

So what does that entail?

It would likely depend on how strong any initial attack is. I can build stuff pretty quickly but the attack will likely come at a time when my faction is starting to outgrow a lot of its infrastructure, leaving the workers rather agitated and therefore forcing me to use a lot of my hard earned cash to force build military vehicles in order to protect it and whatever buildings I need to placate the masses.

It really has been a strange game though. The sheer lack of conflict or even interaction with other factions has been almost unprecedented in all the games of SMACX I have played.

Usually I play a kind of passive game, building my civilisation's population, economy and scientific knowledge. I find that that opens most of the victory scenarios - diplomatic/co-operative through the UN, economic through cornering the world energy network and scientific through Transcendence - even though I rarely set out to win in a certain way. It also gives me a solid base from which to rapidly build a military force of immense strength and size if needed.

So what does that entail?

Essentially, using "Ctrl + F" to find the occurrences of a long list of names, places, terms etc. in the main text and making a note of them. Not a particularly difficult task but it will be immensely time consuming.

Better get the kettle on!

That game sounds quite a bit more complex than civilization, but overall it sounds like a similar experience. Keeping the peace in Civilization generally allows you to build your way to an economic or cultural victory, but the problem I experience is having to build settlers in order to make new cities, and by the time you're into the Industrial Age when expansion becomes more significant the prime real estate has been gobbled up and you'll be blocked by your neighbors. I find that a few early skirmishes to capture a city or two from some of your rivals usually does the trick, especially if you can get them to beg you for a peace treaty after you've got what you wanted.

I just got finished with a game of Civilization. Played as the Germans, which of course meant I was focusing on conquest since the beginning. Managed to dispatch the French pretty quickly (game is fairly realistic, no?), and then the Egyptians were made short work of soon after. The last two holdouts were India and Japan, and while Japan rocked a mostly isolationist policy that kept them away from my cities and non-threatening in any other department, the Indians were knocking on my door for a while, but never presenting much of a real threat. It was around 1980 that I decided to put my cities into military production overload, and soon every city was either producing tanks, bombers, fighters, or 80MM guns, and both Delhi and Kyoto soon fell into my sausage and beer grubbing hands.

Essentially, using "Ctrl + F" to find the occurrences of a long list of names, places, terms etc. in the main text and making a note of them. Not a particularly difficult task but it will be immensely time consuming.

That sounds like the type of thing publishing companies don't pay interns for.

Again, I am probably overstating the complexity but there are plenty of potential social, meteorological, diplomatic, military and alien problems that can rear their ugly heads at any time. Actually in my more recent play, I had a warning that if I was to build another city by faction's bureaucracy would be too big and would impact efficiency.

Had good fun with the eventual attack by the Caretakers. Put several of my industrial powerhouse cities into "build military aircraft" mode so any time they looked like getting a foothold on my continent, a wave of needlejets pushed them back. Then used a combination of the needlejets, colony pods and marines to remove the sea colonies that they had established along my coastline. Once I moved against one of their homeland cities, the sued for peace.

And in good time too as two of the human factions have taken up against me for some unknown reason. The Pirates will be a piece of cake as their bases are right beside my already congregated jets and marines but the UN Peacekeepers will be a completely different scenario - big, strong, populous, advanced and the worst part is, they will be advancing towards what is the soft underbelly of my empire where I have only recently colonised. Could be a disaster.

Unfortunately, I need to do it as you need to understand who/what is being talked about in order to index it correctly.

All I need to know is that there is a nice payday at the end of it and a publication in a few months.

The the Peacekeepers are making war? How delightfully ironic.

How long would it take you to split off some of your aircraft and bring them to defend your weak spots?

I just won another game, this time by technology as the Chinese. The few times somebody tried to stand up to me I would just crush them with armies of tanks, and I took most of the Mongolian, Zulu, and United States empires in the process. The only civilization that I never came into conflict with was the Greeks, and they seemingly managed to screw themselves by getting swallowed by the Americans and Mongolians. I was able to put the space station together in two turns and 10 turns later I was being declared the victor.

Unfortunately, I need to do it as you need to understand who/what is being talked about in order to index it correctly.

Ah well, put on some movies, whistle while you work, yada yada yada, it'll go by faster than you know.

Um, JGlass, why did you randomly quote me?

I must have just forgotten to respond. I meant to say that I figured that you were there. My buddy and I were debating which crowd was better, the UK crowd last night or the NJ crowd that night after Mania. I said you guys were.

I would agree last night's crowd was better. They enhanced everything in the show with their reactions, whereas the NJ crowd did more of a hijacking of the show, which, in their defense, wasn't that great of a show.

Late to the party, but I'm right in the middle of the Punk documentary, and sweet mama jama, this is really good shit.

The Punk one is okay. His story is interesting, but the little bits about his road life and veganism are irritating. That and he is a total douche.
