Glass Ass: The OFFICIAL JGlass Thread

You could well be chasing a ghost.

I have done that numerous times in the past. Convincing yourself that there is some word that you cannot quite get that sums up what you want to say succintly but it does not really exist.

I seem to be experiencing a bit of lethologica; I have a word stored in my metaphorical mental cabinet, but I can't seem to retrieve it. The word is not terribly long or convoluted - I should be able to remember it. Alas, I can't, and it's really ticking me off.

Repertoire is a synonym for the word. I associate repertoire with the word, and usually when I retrieve the word "repertoire" the other word follows. The word that I can't remember means "tools" or '"inventory" or something to that effect. I believe the letter "s" is involved. But for some reason, my neural pathway to the word has been lost. I have tried to research it, but to no avail.

Any help? JGlass? I know I've seen you use it. Sam? Coco? Barbosa? What is this damn word?

Is it spiel? It sounds like the word could be spiel, which I believe is a Yiddish word.

Also... damn Blue Chipper! Where you been man?

That's certainly a possibility, however, I'm confident that there's a tangible word here that just seems to be evading me. I used to have an association between "repertoire" and the missing word. It was used here, and it fits the definition that I gave. These are things I know, and it leads me to believe that there's a word that I'm just forgetting. With that said, I don't deny the possibility that the word I'm pursuing is nonexistent. It's simply more feasible to me that something's there.

You disappoint me, JGlass. I was banking on you, man; I'm sure you've used it before. Now the allure of the word grows even larger.

The amount of time I have for leisure activities and satisfaction has been reduced significantly as the rigor of my coursework has increased; I have to focus on my academic life.

EDIT: Not the words either, Justin.

Song and dance? Symposium? Senorita?

I'm just naming things that start with the letter S now.

You graduating soon?

I am. I'm currently studying for the last exam of my undergrad. Finding the motivation to brute force this thing over the next few days is driving me mental. Being this close to the finish line is doing a number on me.

I've got a paper and a final exam myself. The final exam should be... interesting. The paper on the other hand is something I can definitely do, but I too am finding hard to motivate myself. I've decided I'll write the section about schizophrenia and phenomenology today, the section about film and phenomenology tomorrow, and then wrap it all up Monday.

Largely but then the Arabs and the Jews share the same ethnicity and I do not think you would lump them all in together.

As for Chechens and Dagestanis, they are very much different from the more recognisable White/Slavic Russians. They are from a region that was ruled by Turkic tribes, Khazars, Aryan Alans/Circassians, Arabs, Iranians, various Mongol khanates and the Ottoman Turks long before the Russians took it over.

On a less serious note, I received my 499th book in the post today - a rip-roaring account of the impact of plagues on the history of humanity.

Awesome. When does your book come out? I may get it off of Amazon. I have to buy a Revit manual, but I still plan on picking up The Hammer and the Cross that you recommended.

I'm not reading this series & I'm not a huge Cyclops guy but this is one of those rare issues I almost bought just for the cover alone.

Gentlemen, tonight I have achieved what few have sought and many more have failed to achieve in trying. I have eschewed the mere idea of blowjob week and have ascended to greatness.

I have earned my red wings. I shall wear this badge proudly.

I would like to thank all of those that made this possible:

Crown Royal

That is all. Goodnight.

This has been a pretty good weekend so far, got raise at work on Fri., went to a birthday party for a 6 yr. old yesterday that was actually pretty fun, & then watched a UFC fight that was surprising enjoyable (which is rare for me, I guess I prefer my fighting to be fake for the most part), then watched ParNorman which was awesome. I wish I had seen ParaNorman in the theater in stead of Wreck'em Ralph, as much as I enjoyed Ralph, Norman is a faaaaar superior & enjoyable film.

I am hearing rumours that I will be pressed into service at a 3 year olds birthday party in the next week or so.

To be honest, I have no problem with that so long as there is a bouncy castle. I might be approaching the big 3-0 and supposedly a respectable academic type, but I fucking love throwing myself about like a lunatic on a bouncy castle.

Agreed on the ParaNorman front. In fact, ParaNorman is likely one of my favorite animated films of all time. Very enjoyable, very charming film.

Never really understood the appeal of the bouncy house, even as a kid. I mean, don't get me wrong, I jumped in several dozen of them I'm sure, but the fun never lasts for more than a fleeting moment.

Oh, and Barbosa, I'm definitely hooked on Sid Meier's Civilization now. I played three campaigns yesterday. Won a domination victory with the Zulu, a culture victory with America, and a technological victory with the Greeks. As much as I don't really have time for a Civilization game today, I think an economic victory is in the cards, possibly with the Saracens.

Which one, J? I'm guessing 4.

No, I think it's called Civilization Revolution. As far as I can tell it's like a super updated version of the original, and I'm playing it on my 360. I can see why these are computer games as using an XBox controller is not especially conducive for playing a strategy game, but it's still a blast.
