Glass Ass: The OFFICIAL JGlass Thread

An honorable move. I like to imagine that the owner of Man U is sitting in a big evil swivel chair and is sending out his best henchmen to take out Pedro Barbosa on the pitch. Nobody says no to Man U and gets away with it!

As the current top scorer in the EreDivisie and with his team who were touted to finish 17th out of 18 top of the league, Pedro Barbosa is doing okay so far in his turning down of a move to Old Trafford.

As for my other video game foray with the Teutonic Order, that is somehow still going and even thriving. Managed to buy off the Russians by becoming their vassal, crushed several more attempts by the Poles and Lithuanians to take Palanga (the field around it must be rather fertile with the amount of blood split there), secured peace with the Danes, and have taken some land in Sweden from the Norwegians. All in all, not a bad showing from a faction that was on the verge of extinction about 20 turns previously.

This has been one of the more entertaining games of any Total War I have played.

That being said, people are mostly smart on Cena's antics and know that he's a fake. Cena does the Make-A-Wish stuff because the WWE MAKES him do it. It's not out of the goodness of his heart or because he's a softy. It's because he's the face of the WWE and has NO CHOICE. People are smart to that, hence why they booed him. His tales of how he acts in airports, after Raw tapings and in other surroundings show you that Cena gives no damn about the fans and acts like an asshole.

Now, I've seen first hand how he acts toward younger fans. He doesn't care. He even gave a weird smirk to a dude who was dressed in full on Cena gear (Cena Shirt, cargo shorts, shoes, and hat). Mind you, the dude was at least 5'10 and possibly a 15 year old, but he was a fan. Cena doesn't seem to know where his bread is buttered. Doesn't change his status in the WWE, but that's why most of the fans booed him.
What is this unsubstantiated nonsense?

I don't underestimate it. The Cena machine is still a major money maker, and for it to be so after all these years is a testament to the power he has as a star. But WWE's lack of interest in having any sort of contingency in place is getting laughable at this point. And in that name, I think you overestimate just how long this course of action is tenable by not sharing my Ryback-related outrage.

I'm willing to let the Ryback turn play out. But if you think Ryback was the answer to Cena's candle burning out, I would have to disagree. Ryback isn't a spring chicken, and he's injury prone. He could fill Cena's role in a post-Cena WWE for a year, tops, but then he'd be finished.

I agree, they need a contingency plan, and that guy is probably in the WWE somewhere between the WWE and NXT. However, I don't think the WWE is in need of a contingency plan for Cena as you suggest.

When Ziggler marks bitch about anything, it's generally advisable not to listen.

It wasn't just Ziggler marks. Slyfox himself said Ziggler shouldn't have lost, and he hates that guy.

As for what you say of wins and losses speaking to short-term utility and storytelling, I can agree with that. But then in time, it means nothing. And most smarks keep bitching about the same old shit while the consciousness of the general wrestling audience has moved the fuck on.

Agreed. After maybe a month, maybe, the particular win or loss loses almost all of its meaning.

As to Breaking Bad in August, I can wait. Patiently. Undoubtedly, that means I'm committing some sort of faux pas...

Well, yeah, of course you will. What are you going to do, break into AMC headquarters and swipe the tapes? I'll wait, but I'm not exactly happy that I'm going to have to wait until August, which is when I thought it would be wrapping up.

Indeed they were. The Henry match inparticular was good fun. They have some odd chemistry with one-another.

Probably Punk's best non-Cena match last year. Yeah, that's right, I put that match with Henry above both of his Daniel Bryan Y2J matches. Well, his ER match with Jericho might have been better, but that Henry match was really good.

Yeah, but the second season always kicks things up a notch. That's when Man U will have their assassins planted, and they're all gunning for Barbosa.

Yeah, that's some straight up bullshit. Apparently Lariat and Cena are pals, because Lariat sure seems to know Cena intimately.

I agree. Ryback isn't a long term answer to anything. But he's the closest thing to a new, legit top face that WWE has come upon in quite a while. Why squander that when pickings are so slim at the top on the face side of things?

Surprising the things he'll say when he's not looking to get a rise out of people.

After all the internet blah blah I've read on the matter, I wouldn't be shocked if someone took this course of action.

:lmao:

Not your post, the one you quoted. That is brand new to the internet smark buffoonery to its highest echelon. I haven't laughed at the downright absurdity of a post like that in a long, long time.
And he walks around here like he's one of the smart ones. Makes it all the better.

The city of Boston is on lockdown. This is... an experience. And the bad guys are Russians, go figure.

Fair enough, but I'm thinking maybe they figured the short term play was more valuable than the long term. Besides, I have high hopes that Big E Langston is going to carry the top face mantel one day, even if he's black.

Surprising the things he'll say when he's not looking to get a rise out of people.

Unless he was trying to get a rise out of me.

My goodness Lariat is talking some hot garbage about Cena since he drew Flair in the tournament. His Hall of Famer argument was exceptionally funny.

Desperate men do desperate deeds.

Please, he can't even spell a word 4 words into his roleplays right, I highly doubt he knows how to put the top and cap on a pressure cooker.

And they aren't Russians, they're chechnians *spell check anyone?* Don't mix that lot in with my people J.

Sticks and stones may break my bones, but Flair's better than Cena, no matter how this shit ass tournament turns out. Every year, the WZ tournament turns into 'hot garbage', because no one seems to recognize quality wrestling anymore.

And I know what I saw. And I saw Cena pretty much be a prick to numerous fans on his way back from the ring. Austin would finish his match, go to the back, and come out for whomever's left and sign autographs. Cena wants that paycheck and his last few years in the ring has shown that.

Gonna have to call BS on that one.

His matches with Punk have been excellent and his ones with Rock have been decent. Other than that, he's had to deal with Kane, Johnny Ace, Miz, Del Rio, and Big Show. Not exactly Murderer's Row.

Austin isn't exactly Mother Teresa, either.

The most recent Botched Spot made me legit lol

I went to a book reading and signing with my girlfriend. Joyce Carol Oates. I've never heard of her, despite my girlfriend and others in attendance gushing over her. She asked how I could never have heard of her, despite her being nominated for I believe three Pulitzer's in her life, but I responded by telling her she didn't know who Jack Kirby was.

Aren't they all basically Slavic nations anyway?

Largely but then the Arabs and the Jews share the same ethnicity and I do not think you would lump them all in together.

As for Chechens and Dagestanis, they are very much different from the more recognisable White/Slavic Russians. They are from a region that was ruled by Turkic tribes, Khazars, Aryan Alans/Circassians, Arabs, Iranians, various Mongol khanates and the Ottoman Turks long before the Russians took it over.

On a less serious note, I received my 499th book in the post today - a rip-roaring account of the impact of plagues on the history of humanity.

1- Who the hell is Joyce Carol Oates?

2-How does your GF not know one of the most iconic artists in comic history, or really history in general? He invented "Kirby dots" for cryin' out loud, he has a damn museum named after him in NJ, & helped co-create some of the most iconic characters in pulp culture history. Does she at least know who Stan fuckin' Lee is?

I don't know who either Joyce Carol Oates or Jack Kirby is.

It is rather silly for someone to criticise others for not knowing about subjects/genres that they themselves hold dear. It would be like me criticising people for not knowing who AHM Jones is. Or Ronald Syme. Or Theodore Mommsen. Or Ammianus Marcellinus.

I seem to be experiencing a bit of lethologica; I have a word stored in my metaphorical mental cabinet, but I can't seem to retrieve it. The word is not terribly long or convoluted - I should be able to remember it. Alas, I can't, and it's really ticking me off.

Repertoire is a synonym for the word. I associate repertoire with the word, and usually when I retrieve the word "repertoire" the other word follows. The word that I can't remember means "tools" or '"inventory" or something to that effect. I believe the letter "s" is involved. But for some reason, my neural pathway to the word has been lost. I have tried to research it, but to no avail.

Any help? JGlass? I know I've seen you use it. Sam? Coco? Barbosa? What is this damn word?

Skillset? Repository?

Nope. Neither of those terms is the word I'm looking for. Perhaps an "s" isn't involved - I don't know. The term is used, or was used, around here quite frequently.
