Glass Ass: The OFFICIAL JGlass Thread

Agreed. My point wasn't that lite beers are bad, but that Europeans tend to be snobby towards American beer because lite beer dominates US advertising for alcoholic beverages.

If I'm drinking a light beer I prefer Miller Lite myself.

Same here. I feel like a bastard for it though, since I'm supposed to only like Budweiser products, being from the St. Louis area and all.

Harpoon, on the other hand, makes a great Hefeweizen called UFO that I love. One of my favorite beers.

There's a microbrewery in St. Louis called Schlafly that makes an excellent Hefeweizen.

I drink Budweiser . Not on a normal basis but I'll drink it instead of my usual Crown Royal if I'm on a tight drinking budget or if I don't want to get whiskey drunk.

For some reason I cannot drink any type of ale. I've tried numerous times but I always come back to lager.

It's not your fault that Budweiser beers generally suck.

I was just looking at a list of top American Hefeweizens and it had Schlafly at 3, right above UFO at 4. I'll have to try it if I ever come across it.

There's a bar I like going to that has all different kinds of good beer there, but sadly they seem to be more focused on porters and darker beers than on Hefeweizens. They have some damn good cider, though.

Do you remember what it was?

It was some concoction that the hot bar maid had devised. 7 different bottles it took. If I remember correctly the most overriding taste was banana and yet the drink itself was blood red.

We might have good/incredible Guinness but the American beer selection is far, far superior to anything in Ireland. We are starting to get better with the growth of supermarket selection but at the moment our bars are dominated by two big brewery conglomerates.

I want some English ales on tap as well as some German selections - blonde Erdinger to be precise.

Most of Sam Adams seasonal brews have some sort of fruit taste to them, and I hate that in a beer. I also don't like their Boston Lager at all.

Not a fan of the fruity taste either but that winter Sam Adams doesn't have it I don't think. It is just a bit darker.

Slightly off-topic, but it's funny, young Mormons are easily (seriously) the ones who indulge in the most underage drinking and whatnot. It probably stems from all the limits at are put in front of them during their upbringing -- although, to be fair, not all Mormons are as extreme as the ones who push shit like the Zion curtain (a large divider wall in restaurants that separates the alcohol from the other sections of the restaurant) into becoming laws. Most of the Mormons I associate with are just normal people, but there's a large portion of Mormons in the state who are so extreme in their views, so much so that all Mormons are painted as this crazy band of Jesus friends.

Just like all religions, the degree of devoutness to the original scripture/laws of Mormonism varies, of course. It's just that the alcohol laws were placed in a more conservative time.

I like Bud Light Lime (shut up) and Michelob Amber Bock.

Their operations stay pretty local, but they have excellent beer. Also, their food is delicious. I go every time I'm down there.

And they're held in place today by people who were groomed by that same philosophy. There's a pretty clear divide (for the most part) between older and younger generations of Mormons and Utahns, in general. It's always been a conservative state, but there's been a shift in the last few years to a more liberal mindset -- that's only among younger people, though. It's becoming somewhat of a culture clash. Take, for example, downtown Salt Lake City: The church has its roots dug deep into the ground and controls entire blocks of downtown, yet there's a thriving gay community right in and around that area. It's two totally different extremes. To their credit, the church -- however stuck in their archaic ways they are -- have made strides in becoming more progressive in the 21st century, but there has been an evident shift in views over the past few years. In 20/30 years (though still a bit of a long shot), I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of liquor laws and the like are being pushed out of the way by younger lawmakers from today's generation of new adults.

So in the past few weeks I've had the idea of Cena cheating to beat Rock at Mania. Last night confirmed my thoughts. I really feel that there have been hints of a turn with the "I have to win" and the "I will do anything for redemption". The boys kind of gave me looks and blew it off telling me "ok Mr. Internet fan" or "ain't happening". Well my brother is on board now following last night's Raw. He actually is buying into it. I'm probably over thinking the situation and Cena is just gonna win and that's that. I guess I just wanted that added spice to it. Am I crazy?

Finally finished that dumbed down, pop culture-referencing sample I had to do for that job.

Fuck me, it actually caused me physical pain at times and I am pretty certain that I did not dumb it down enough.

I don't know man, but there were definitely hints of heel in Cena's bit last night. Now whether that's just the WWE trying to play the interwebs for fools or if they're legitimately laying the foundation for a heel turn is anybody's guess, but it's certainly making things interesting for WrestleMania.

I have never bought into the "how much can I drink" idea of a night out. I have always gone out to have a few drinks with my friends and if it so happens that I end up imbibing (my favourite word at the moment) a skinful, then so be it.

It does help that I can actually drink a lot and that my friends, who would be the kind to go out just to get wrote of, know it.

I am also lucky that no matter how much I drink, I do not forget what happened the night before - hence my occasional nickname of the "Chronicler."

I used to think of it as a competition. Although after 8 or 9 pints I dont remember a damn thing. Nowadays getting that fucked is much rarer.

Yeah man, I understand that too. I've been taking it slower as of late when it comes to drinking, but American drinking culture is one that where, if you're going to make drinking the main activity for a night, the goal is to get drunk.

Same as here. "Lets get rat arsed and pull some birds."

Agreed. In fact, if Cena loses at WrestleMania (which now seems more possible than ever), I can't imagine him not turning heel. The only problem with that is that the WWE is further away than ever of having somebody that can realistically pick up the top face mantel.

Its a tough call, the alternatives are the same finish as last year but different result. Or Rock becoming a Paul Heyman guy.

Both of those mean "thrice in a lifetime."

Cant go wrong with English ales.

Like you say, no replacement short of Rock full time. A Rock turn would be fitting, HollyRock would be perfect for 2013 and could lead to a face turn/Lesnar feud.

I think they are simply trying to build interest in a match where the winner has been a forgone conclusion for months. Last night the Rock came out on top in pretty much a landslide. For fuck sake they had him fold his shirt before he got in Rock's face.

I think there are too few top faces to turn him anyway. Del Rio isn't over enough as a face to carry the company, Sheamus may be, but he isn't the draw Cena is, Miz is barely keeping his head above water, Ryback hasn't won on PPV in forever. Plus they actually have solid heels. Punk is currently in the middle of one of the better heel runs in recent memory, The Shield are getting a good heel push, Orton is rumored to be turning, Swagger is being xenophobic, Kane will probably turn heel after he splits with Bryan.

I take it that that means getting laid?

While I complete understand why the WWE would want to and realistically should have a third Rock/Cena match, I have my doubts about Rock wrestling again after this year. He's barely been around during this Mania season, and he's the WWE Champion. Granted, Rock has been in about 200 different movies set to release this year, but who's to say that he isn't going to be this busy for years to come? I realize that WWE can afford to give Rock a little leeway because of how much money he brings them, but they can't realistically expect him to draw if they can only book him for two events in three months.

This is probably the most rational way to look at it, but also the least fun. Come on, Yaz, live a little.

The biggest criticism of The Rock is "via satelite" and not being around so I'd have him screw Cena and turn him heel and play that up, have Rock show up via satelite on every fourth Raw with the belt, if they want to do the mandatory defence thing then have him pin some joke every month, via satelite. John calls him out constantly, is a hero to the boys in the back and Gotham. Vince eventually wins legal battle and forces Rock to defend against Rumble winner at Mania (Cena) and Rock loses. WWE vs Hollywood. New School vs Old School. plus theres roles for punk and lesnar to play. Rock is perfect antagonist and keeps his movie schedule.

thats what I'd do with a book this before anyone brings up business.

That moment when you know that you have been firmly relegated to "feel good friend..."

Feel good friend? I'm not sure I know that position. Care to explain?

At this point Cena could snap & just bash Rocks head in with a lead pipe for 20 mins. & I would still cheer for him over the Rock. I get the feeling from listening to them that Cena wants & needs this win over Rock, where Rock just feels that it's a forgone conclusion that he's gonna win.

Really I doubt they turn Cena heel I could see them tease a heel turn for Cena in the match, where he's put in a position where he could cheat & win & they show him visibly struggle with the decision, but ultimately he'll pass & opt to beat the Rock with a clean finish.

I'd be ok with that as it sort of hints that Cena would break his ways if he needs to win. A slow build to a full heel turn would be some sick shit if they played their cards right. Could culminate in an I Quit Match at WM30 with Taker where Cena plays The Rock role and cheats to win, thus ending the streak in a tarnishing fashion.

Supposedly Rock is with WWE through Extreme Rules, this makes me think that Cena wins, & Rock cashes in his title rematch clause, with the stipulation being something along the lines of a two out of three falls match, or possibly a 30 min. Ironman match (I only say 30 mins. cause I honestly don't think Rock could hang with Cena for a full 60 mins.)

So Kurt Angle was apparently at one of my regular hangouts yesterday... and I wasn't. I don't know why I feel disappointed, I never really had any desire to meet him or any other professional wrestler (apart from Maria and Eve) before, but I do.

Friend zone. All the perils of a relationship without the sex and nudity. It's like if marriage were rated PG. *shudders*

Uh oh, you don't wanna be mentioning the friend zone round here; Miko and I take great issue with it. Maybe that's why Barbosa sneakily called it feel good friendship.

Essentially this but in some ways it is worse than the friend zone.

She only ever makes contact when she wants you to say something nice to make her feel good about herself

You should throw that bitch a curveball and tell her she's got a bad case of Buscemi face.
