Glass Ass: The OFFICIAL JGlass Thread

Heyman is supposed to have a performance review on Raw tomorrow, so I can totally see them using that to set up Brock's return. Brock threatening McMahon and Trips coming down to make the save setting up Brock/Trips 2. Punk may get involved in that if it happens. I'd like to see the proposed triple threat, mostly because Punk and Cena together are money, but I doubt they go that way. Interesting to see where Punk goes now. Also wondering how long Jericho hangs around. I totally didn't see that coming. Suck it dirtsheet writers.

Why? What good would Shield interference do for anyone involved in the match? All it does is further attach CM Punk to Shield, and that's a downward spiral I don't think anybody wants to see (see: CM Punk led Nexus). I think the best option right now is Punk vs. Delberto for the WHC at Mania, Rock vs. Cena rematch, Taker vs. Lesnar, Ziggler vs. Jericho, and possibly Sheamus vs. Orton. It's also possible that we'll see Kane vs. Bryan, Rhodes Scholars vs. ReyCara, and Miz vs. Cesaro. That's a pretty damn stacked card right there.

Oh, and Ryback and two dudes vs. Shield seems about right as well. Possibly Big Show and Kofi.

I have my own opinions about the shield, and attaching Punk to them would at least keep him heel and relevant to the Rock going into Mania - be he ultimately their leader or not. Personally I rather see Del Berto feud with Ziggler or Jericho than Punk.

I'd rather see Trips take a year off.

I have no issue with Taker vs. Brock.

I could see Jericho winning the WHC in the EC match only for Ziggy to cash in, after the match & win the title, setting up a Jericho/Ziggy WHC rematch at WM.

I'm sure Rock-Cena 2 will be a huge draw. Good for them. But last night's booking was so pedestrian that it kind of killed the Mania season buzz on the launch pad for me. I'm sure it'll be a good show. But I just have no desire to see that show live.

Of course I'm probably in the minority on that. So whatever.

I'm with you. It sort of killed my Mania buzz and I'm going. I'm sure I'll enjoy it as live events are always great. But I'm sort of in this ho-hum mood after last night. I have no problem with Rock-Cena 2 and I have no problem with Rock as champ, but I just didn't like how the match went down.

Don't get me wrong. I loved everything about last night's show. I really enjoyed it. But the booking was nutless. If that's how WWE intends to handle its business this Mania season, fine. Play it safe. But that sort of thing certainly doesn't give me a burning desire to spend my money. Last night may well be the last time in a good long while I chip in to purchase a PPV live.

I hate to be one of those guys, but I honestly think we deserve a wrestling product that aspires to be entertaining in a way that isn't so safe. Maybe if WWE gave us that company, they wouldn't need to rely on part timers.

Oh the show was good, I thoroughly enjoyed it. It was a fun show. But I agree with you on the feelings of playing it safe and what not.

I think that we're being just as closed-minded as many are after a big PPV ending, payoff, and title change from a questionable superstar. It's the day after the Rumble and we're already speculating negative thoughts about the near future and Wrestlemania? We've got three months, guys. Plenty of time for a proper buildup. And with a speculated main event as big as Rock/Cena II (and as predictable), I'm sure the WWE has already thought up ways to really make this feud stand out much differently than they did last year.

Man, this about sums it up for me. It's cool seeing The Rock with the championship, the way they did it added some intrigue, and I had a LOT of fun with the Rumble (Can't believe we're not getting CM Punk vs. Godfather :() but man, I was pulling for Ryback just because it'd keep things interesting.

Will I enjoy the build to Mania? Probably. Will I buy Mania, since it doesn't look like I'm going? Probably not. It's safe, but it's not as enjoyable as I want it to be. Of course, I want the WWE to challenge me and prove me wrong, just because I love it at the end of the day.

Everyone knows eFeds are better anyway.

I thought the build to Mania last year was horrendous. The Twitter-off between Cena and Rock did nothing for me. Only thing I enjoyed about their build was Cena's empty-arena pretape. Moving down the card, End of an Era screamed of a circle jerk to me. And the year before wasn't much more inspiring. They'd have to properly change for me to care this year.

What really bothers me is what WWE does now-a-days for big shows. They bring in the big stars, rest on their laurels, and rake in the cash. It's a band-aid for a more severely broken creative apparatus. And I'm sick of them raking in more of my cash than they deserve. They've proven themselves unworthy of that for the next for months.

It may be good enough for everyone else. If it is, I'm glad you enjoy it. But I don't. And there's nothing to suggest this year will be different.

You know what I hate? IWC guys who call a fan a sheep if he so much as calls anything WWE does decent. I like Heelbook on Facebook, they usually have funny memes, but never read the comments. Holy shit they mad.

Judging by the amount of PPV buys, reviews on the main event, and reviews on the Streak match, you're in the minority on this way of thinking. But your opinions is yours.

I was completely fulfilled by the WM buildup last year. And it delivered.

I agree with this. It's a perfect example of how WWE isn't properly building stars since they need to keep paying part-timers for one-off matches that should be filled by full-time guys on the roster.

Wah wah wah, we smarks want to see our favorite guys booked to be in the big match and the WWE can worry about their big stars later.

That's you guys, that's what you sound like.

And I recognize that you realize that this was all business, but I'd hardly call this nutless booking. When has the WWE taken big gambles going into WrestleMania? We had Taker/Triple H two years in a row and Taker/HBK the two years before that. The world title matches over just about the entire history of WrestleMania have involved exactly two unproven stars (Delberto and Bryan). If you were expecting anything besides this build you were just fooling yourself. It would be like me going to a Jets game and expecting them to win: it just ain't happening.

And on top of that there are plenty of question marks. Who's next for Del Rio? What's next for Punk? Where does Jericho fit into the equation? Now that Mysterio is back where does he fit in? Are Kane and Bryan done after the events of last night's Rumble, and if so what does that mean for the tag titles? What's next for Ryback? What's next for The Shield?

And there are probably a handful of reasons other than the ones listed above to keep tuning into WWE programming from now until WrestleMania.

God dammit, you got me agreeing with D-Man in public. See what you're doing here?

There's always a lot of negativity in the air after a PPV where things don't go as planned. It'll go away within a week or so when everyone is just excited for the next big match.

Nowadays? When has it ever been any different?

Personally after seeing Mysterio last night I want to see him at home with his kids if he keeps performing at that level. He has put on weight and when he was droppin' the dime after the 619 he didn't jump, he just sorta fell off the top rope. I love the guy, he is arguably the greatest underdog in WWE history, but I don't want to see him performing at that level night in and night out.

I think they'll probably stick him back with Sin Cara and we'll see Rhodes Scholars vs. ReyCara for the tag titles at Mania. I'd be more than okay with that.

But yes, Rey did not look good in the Rumble last night. He moved slowly, he's clearly unable to keep off weight (and at his age who can blame him?), and he's obviously on his last legs. It's a shame since I would love to see Rey have one last hurrah, but I don't think he has it in him.

You do realize John Cena is my favorite wrestler? And I said I have no problems with Cena and Rock fighting at Mania for the title. All I said was I didn't like how they had Rock win, that was it.

I'd be more than okay with him teaming with Sin Cara for the next couple months. I actually enjoy Cara, and I think Rey has done wonders with him. Have Cara take most of the bumps, have Rey come in for a big move or two, I'd be fine with that. The guy has gone ~20 years wrestling a demanding style, it was to be expected he would slow down, but it seems like it hit all at once. Kinda bums me out.
