Glass Ass: The OFFICIAL JGlass Thread

Ahhh of course, I should have realized it was a British league. I do, after all, play as Nottingham Forrest in FIFA08, a team that boasts Steve Nasri at CMF and Dimitar Berbatov as a striker.

The Berb in 08 is a beast. My friend actually started supporting Spurs because of how good he was in a Pro Evo game too. In real life, he has some great moments too.

And Forest? Really? What about Everton? Thought they were your boys!

You'll get one good season out of him in 13. then the wanky everyone over 30 is instantly shite system has its wicked way with him

I wasn't an Everton fan when I started playing. Also, I wanted to take a team from the lower leagues and bring them to Premier League greatness, and I really liked the idea of playing with a team from Nottingham. I decided to rename them the Nottingham Merry Men, as in Robin Hood and his band of Merry Men. Unfortunately the league declined my appeal to change their uniforms to forest green shirts and slacks and shin high leather boots. They also won't let the keeper use a bow and arrow to shoot the ball rather than save it.

Thats because its about fifa 13 and the rapid, unrealistic decline of players over 30. The Bourne Legacy is still the perfect title to that film btw.

Lets Take A shit On The Bounre Legacy would've been a more appropriate title as it's a pretty shitty movie given the the talent working on it, & pretty much crapped all over the greatness that was the 3 previous films.

Fucking FA man, they ruin everything in real life as well as in the games :disappointed:

I did wonder what factor Mr Hood may have played in your decision making. Admittedly, Mr's Little, Barksdale and McNulty have influenced my support of the Ravens in recent weeks. That and Ray Lewis' terrifying but cool helmet.

Ray Lewis is just awesome in general. Between the helmet and the arm brace he looks like some sort of football playing cyborg designed only for big hits. If I haven't been rooting for the 49ers all year I'd easily be rooting for the Ravens, mostly due to Ray Lewis.

So I only have two classes classes that are back to back on Tuesdays and Fridays. They are also both film classes, and both schedule screenings on Tuesdays and discussions on Fridays. Now Tuesdays probably sound like a great day, but they're not when you have to watch movies that make you want to throw a chair at the screen/fall asleep, as was my experience today.

I think I nearly reached a state of blind rage during Shivers, a movie about a parasite that lives in your digestive system yet somehow takes over your brain and puts you in a constant state of uncontrollable horniness, as well as implanting its master plan to infect everyone in your mind. Also, every single character except for the lead was unbelievably stupid, which is what really drove me absolutely nuts.

The second class I have is Japanese film, and while that one wasn't as bad, it was still incredibly boring. It was about young woman that lived with her father that didn't want to get married, but he really wanted her to. That was it.

Oh well, next week we're watching 300 in my cinema seminar, and that's going to be awesome.

I can't begin to tell you how well Nottingham Forest fans would take to having their team renamed to the Merry Men.

I have no idea what the Nottingham Forest fans are like, so I cannot even being to judge the level of sincerity in this statement.

What happens when cinema goes horribly, horribly wrong. A valuable lesson. Next week: the rest of Zack Snyder's filmography.

I haven't given 300 a good watch since I first saw it cinemas when I was 17, and I thought it was awesome. Should be interesting to see how much I like it as an adult with a more refined pallet. Either way, I'm interested to see what it has to do with posthumanism.

Oh, they'd love it.

Why? They like goofy gimmicks?

Fassbender is in 300, it ain't all bad. Plus, the actor who played Xerxes also played a transsexual (of sorts) in a Brazilian film called Carandiru, where his character was called Lady Di.

Oh and the rhino take down remains brilliant.

Oddly enough the sport being discussed here is hockey and not (American) football, which is two weeks away for the Super Bowl. The NHL did have a lockout this year, though, so instead of starting their season in October like they normally do they started their season in January, which is why many of us are very excited about hockey.

The Minnesota Wild are a team from Minnesota, home of Justin's favorite baseball team, the Twins, and least favorite football team, the Vikings. I guess his Twins love has carried over to the Wild, who are a very exciting team this year as they brought in two of the league's best players in Zack Parise and Ryan Suter.

nightmare likes the Dallas Stars, whom oddly enough used to play in Minnesota as the North Stars. In the late 90s/early 2000s the Dallas Stars were somewhat of a powerhouse in the league and won a Stanley Cup, though they were defeated by my New Jersey Devils in the 2000 Stanley Cup Finals in spectacular fashion. Since then they've been up and down, but nightmare is excited about the team this year.

Does that clear things up for now? Would you like me to explain to you what's happening in football?

Well, that was a pretty good way of putting it. Well done, sir.

Also, Thanks for opening up that wound from 2000.

... Jglassclown.

In all fairness though, the Devils were the better team & deserved it. Out of all the teams in the NHL the Stars & Devils were always my favorite- followed by the Penguins in a close 3rd.

I hate when I miss the sports talk.

I'll talk with ya homie.

Got a center I am looking to trade for a defender. Olli Jokinen is up for trade if there are any takers.....

In other WZHL news, IDR is kicking my ass in Assists & Shots on Goal. I am disappoint.

I too am short on depth at defender. Kopitar is supposed to be back tonight, so my gamble of taking him with my 3rd pick should pay off. I'll probably be a little center heavy if so.

At the end of yesterday I was up on Justin 6-3. I think in our two fantasy football leagues he ended up beating me 3 out of 4 times, so hopefully I have his number in hockey.

I really wish Indiana had a hockey team. They could be as bad as the Blue Jackets and I would still cheer them. I wouldn't stop being an Avs fan, but I would like to have a team I can root for within driving distance. Like last I went to Nashville, and granted the game did go to a shootout, but I didn't get home until until like 3 in the morning. Indianapolis is stuck in the shadow of bigger markets in Chicago and Detroit. For an NHL team to exist the Pacers or Colts would probably have to move, which won't happen.

Yeah, no go on the Indiana hockey scene. No way the Pacers or Colts are leaving any time soon.

Unfortunately the way things are going we have more of a chance at losing teams in the NHL rather than gaining them. Having a team draws money, but only if there are games to play & fans to watch. If the league doesnt get their shit together soon, more players will just play overseas. Which will kill pro hockey in the states.

Four lockouts since '92. That is crazy. Unlike the NBA and NFL, and MLB to a lesser extent, hockey players have options outside North America that will still make them big money. You can play in Russia or a Scandinavian country and still make a good living. The current deal is good for ten years, so when 2023 rolls around, I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of big name stars just stay away if they get locked out again.

I'm watching the Devils vs. Flyers right now, I think J is at the game.

Not if I have anything to say about it you won't:evil3:

I don't see any new expansion teams being brought into the league anytime soon, which is probably a good thing, so you're best chance of getting a team in Indianapolis would be for some one to move a team there. Sadly for Indianapolis I think they're pretty far down on the list of cities new owners would be looking at for team relocation. I think KC, Milwaukee, Hartford, Hamilton ON, & Seattle are all higher on that list than Indianapolis. I wish they'd just pull the damn trigger & move the Coyotes out of Phoenix already, whoever thought putting an NHL franchise in the middle of the fucking desert was a good idea was a fucking moron.

Marty got me a shut out. He is still the man.

It's amazing how he's still able to play at such a high level at his age.

It does bug me that Phoenix has a team, a fairly good team at that, that no one watches while there are cities that would love a pro team that have to go without.

New York Islanders
Phoenix Coyotes
Columbus Blue Jackets
Nashville Predators
Florida Panthers

Right there, five teams that you could relocate due to poor attendance, and shitty stadiums. I think relocation would work better than contraction.

They actually did a study a couple years ago, and Indy came in 10th on potential relocation cities. Quebec was #1, and ever since the Nordics moved to Colorado they have pushed for a team. Toronto getting a 2nd team was #2. Seattle, Portland, Hamilton ON, Las Vegas, Oklahoma City, Houston, and Hartford were the others. OKC and Houston puzzle me a bit because southern teams typically have poor attendance. Apparently a lot of Canadians vacation to Vegas

Fan base isn't an issue, the Indianapolis Racers lead WHL attendance in the 70s. The issue with Indy is a stadium. I forget the name now, but it used to be Conseco Fieldhouse, only seats a little over 14k when set up for the occasional Indiana Ice game. Every stadium in Indy is governed by a board, and the board has to approve all renovations and they shot down expanding the building already.

I'd enjoy a hockey team in Cleveland, and I think there's evidence to suggest that if the team was good and had some identifiable stars, it'd do well attendance wise. The Cavaliers had huge attendance when they were winning with LeBron, the Indians had huge attendance when they were winning in the '90s. A good chunk of the season running through football season would be a problem, though, as almost everyone in Cleveland will choose a Browns game before any other event.

I think Cleveland would have been a better choice than Columbus. Bigger metro area, more sports history, and for better or worse you guys are loyal to the teams.
