Glass Ass: The OFFICIAL JGlass Thread

Haven'y popped my head in here for a little while. What's going on this New Year's Eve?

Heck, I haven't seen you much outside of WZCW, but I take that as a sign that you've got bigger things going on in life, which is a good thing I'm sure.

I am going to a bar with Mr. IC25 and some of that crew. It's an open bar, so I plan on making great use of that.

Work kicked my ass over the Christmas holidays and I was barely on the last two weeks. Got five days off though so I should be on a bit more.

2012 1st round RBs
Trent Richardson 3
Doug Martin 31
David Wilson 32

2011 1st round RBs
Mark Ingram 28

2010 1st round RBs
CJ Spiller 9
Ryan Matthews 12
Jahvid Best 30

2009 1st round RBs
Knowshon Moreno 12
Donald Brown 17
Chris Wells 31

2008 1st round RBs
Darren McFadden 4
Jonathan Stewart 13
Felix Jones 22
Rashard Mendenhall 23
Chris Johnson 24

2007 1st Round RBs
Adrian Peterson 7
Marshawn Lynch 12

Last I checked, they're still pretty damn common. This year may not be that deep and may not see a runner there (especially at 9 when the Jets pick), but they still get drafted in Round 1.

When did I say it didn't happen? Also it only happened 4 times in the last 5 years that someone took an RB at 9 or higher. Not sure I would categorize that as common. No one that took a first round RB in the last 3 years made the playoffs this year. In fact only two teams that took an RB in the first round in the last 5 years made the playoffs this year. Of those two, Donald Brown lost his job to a 5th round selected rookie and Moreno had been inactive for half the season.

I'd rather see the Jets pick up a skill player in the first round than an O-lineman. Yeah, we have a few holes at O-line, but it's still a pretty strong unit between Mangold, Ferguson, and Moore.
Moore is ancient and the one of the men behind the ButtFumble and AssSack (His ass sacked McElroy last week).

Also, he either has a ridiculously high cap number or is a free agent.

Whatever they don't draft, they need to fix via free agency.

I don't pay much attention to College Football as my favorite teams are out of town, but I hope Chicago can get their hands on Manti Te'o from Notre Dame, if they can pick up a bunch of other talented rookies to fill the gaps we have at O-Line that would be splendid too.
The chance that happens is slim to nil. Chicago picks 20th. They would have to trade up a lot. Te'o is going in the top 10. And he's the one defensive player I would want the Jets to get if he fell to them. And that's solely because I have been waiting forever to see a star player from Notre Dame on the Jets.

Only been to an open bar four times (not surprising that it does not happen much in the Emerald Isle) and EVERY time I was driving...

On the subject of American Hand-Football, I would be tempted to get the latest Madden for the Wii U if it took full advantage of the Gamepad - drawing plays and planning coverage.

The Game Madden. Not the old football coach. He's my Thursday appointment.

In other news about me, not Pancake's mom, I've pretty much got my new job lined up for when I get out of the Army. If everything works out, I'll be a Military Contractor working in the same area I am now, just as a civillian.

What are the odds that D-Man has some of his admin buddies alter the 2009 ROTY poll so he can screw me?

Rather high, I reckon. Dude seems petty like that.

Are you still working at the supermarket or are you onto bigger things?

Fair enough. I suppose 2/5 of a strong o-line isn't exactly reassuring, especially when your QB(s) has shown a complete inability to handle pressure.

This bar is, fortunately, a mere two minute drive from IC's house, which means it's probably a five-ten minute walk. No holds will be barred when it comes to drinking tonight.

On a side note, referring to him as IC is so weird. I think he's the only member of the WZ part of NJX that is always called by his real name. NorCal is called NorCal by everyone except IC's wife, D-Man and NorCal both call me JGlass, JGlassy, or Glassy, and while most of us call D-Man by his real name, NorCal still calls him D-Man most of the time.

As such, I have to delete IC's real name and replace it with his internet handle half of the time I'm referring to him.

That would be excellent usage of the Gamepad, and I reckon if anyone is going to take advantage of something like that, it's the folks at Madden.

Out of curiosity, how much do you know about American football?

That was well played. I applaud the effort here.

What will this line of military contracting have you do?

I'd be pretty shocked if that happened. I don't think D-Man really comes on here much unless he's bored at work or something.

I'm in the Air Defense Artillery branch of the Army. (I work with the Patriot missile systems, plus others) My contract (If I get it) will be having me doing pretty much the same thing as a civillian.

Supermarket still so it was the busiest time of the year for them so I was running around like some sort of possessed Road Runner.

Ah yes, of course. Working any major holiday at a supermarket is a bum deal unless they agree to pay you extra.

Not building missiles. Just pretty much providing early warning to our Soldiers overseas in case of a missile attack aimed at our bases in the Middle East

So, I saw Skyfall last night. I enjoyed it, just the right balance of winks to the past and actually doing stuff. Daniel Craig is damn good as Bond. I'm still biased towards Brosnan because he's the one I grew up with, but objectively Craig wins.

Also the tennis season has started, making me a happy Remix.

Yo Glassy, Yazzy, Farcry 3 has me fucking hooked. I'm just going to check in with you guys on where you are on the plot before I head out. I have a fucking Wingsuit now, this game is just... just amazing.

So since I had the day off, I decided to learn 3 new songs on guitar (I'm just now learning how to play) I feel pretty accomplished.

Was the McDonalds jingle one of them or does your contract with Wendy's prohibit such things?

But seriously, you should learn some themes to classic video games\television. They are relatively easy and sound cool. You can also get some sheet music\tabs for some of the wrestler entrance themes that are quick to learn. Stone Cold, DX, etc are easy to play.

I beat the game, pretty thoroughly I dare say.

Man, all of my New Year's plans fell through because of snow and poor planning, so I'm at the neighbors' with a cheap glass of wine, wondering when my mother will get back from running 5K in the snow so I can eat and go back home to fight Zombor in Chrono Trigger.

What's everyone else up to?

Thinking about seeing a movie tomorrow, though it appears my options are fairly limited, right now it looks like either This is 40 or Jack Reacher, I'm lean heavily toward This Is 40.

I saw Les Miserables yesterday. I loved it, though some of the actors' voices weren't well-suited to the songs. As a big fan of the musical I can say it captured the most emotional moments perfectly, and while Russell Crowe was great in look for Javert his voice wasn't the best. Didn't stop me from dissolving into a blubbering mess at the end, though.
