Glass Ass: The OFFICIAL JGlass Thread

Pixar separated from Disney? Fairly sure that a Pixar guy runs the animation studio with John Lasseter (the Pixar guy) having more influence to have things done his way in the theme parks and animation studio than even Mickey Mouse.

I was under the impression that Disney owns Pixar:shrug:

They do. However, as part of the deal Steve Jobs (before he died) became the largest stockholder of Disney (by a margin of about 6%), John Lasseter reports directly to the head of Disney, has the power to greenlight any animated film he likes, and can make suggestions about the theme parks directly to the head of Disney without having to go through the people who run them. The president of the Disney Animation Studios is also the President of Pixar.

Meanwhile, Pixar are functionally separate from Disney as far as making films goes. Getting bought because they were kicking Disney's ass has its benefits.

They are, I don't know what I was thinking. I guess it was Disney's first non-Pixar movie in a long time then. Either way, it explains why it's not that great.

They released a CGI film in 2010, Tangled and The Princess and the Frog in 2009.

I could be wrong, and this is usually where Remix swoops in and tells me I am wrong, but didn't Disney and Pixar have a bit of a falling out over Toy Story 3?

IIRC from reading, Disney was ready to go ahead with the film without Pixar's input after they tried to shaft Pixar over some financial things. I know that Tim Allen was the only guy who worked on the first two who was willing to go forward without Pixar though so they worked it out. That was a big reason for the gap between #2 and 3.

Yeah, Disney retained the rights to make sequels to the early Pixar movies, including Toy Story and the Incredibles, I believe. Their plan was for Buzz to malfunction and get recalled. Sounds pretty shit to me.

From what I've read part of the deal between Pixar & Disney is that despite Disney owning Pixar they're to remain a separate entity.

EDIT: And of course Remix has already said this in a previous post that I had not seen before making this post.

Just saw Django. Fucking fantastic. Christoph Waltz was great. The witty banter and jokes were well timed & made me crack up.

Plus Sam Jackson as a old black guy who gives shit to other black guys was classic.

Also, congrats go out to Coco for being declared the victor as the 2009 ROTY. A point for justice in the eyes of all & a valuable lesson learned to those that doubted. Does he get a belt? Maybe some sort of scepter & cape? What about a parade or someone at very least get him a jar of DMan's tears?

The parade budget has been severely slashed in these tough financial times, so this will have to do

They certainly tend to win more Stanley Cups

They came very close to winning one in 2003, but a vastly superior (and much handsomer) team defeated them in game 7.

I remember someone leaving my Bar Mitzvah to go to a Devils/Senators playoff game and he offered to take me, but I had to fulfill my Bar Mitzvah duties so I couldn't :(.

But they're not Canadian geese, so I don't buy it.

If it's a parade for Coco, I would assume it's taking place in Canadia, therfore Canadian Geese

I have issues with penguins.

Is it because their fans tend to be mostly Pittsburghian? Cause sports fans form Pittsburgh can be kinda obnoxious, kinda like sports fans from New York, or Philly.
