Glass Ass: The OFFICIAL JGlass Thread

I have never liked Superman. For being the ultimate superhero, he is an incredibly dull character.

He needs more of an edge or some real psycholgical trauma that affects him permanently, like accidentally or purposefully killing someone a lot weaker than him.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: the whole concept of him hiding in plain sight is a great underlying motif. Unlike other heroes, he really is the hero, and his alter-ego is the one in the disguise.

You mean completely flawless pillars of marble don't make for good heroes?

I'd never have guessed...

It certainly is an interesting reversal of the 'normal' routine of a superhero but in reality, his alter-ego is essentially redundant.

No, they make the best heroes. Superman is the hero you would want to have protecting your world.

It just does not make for a very interesting hero.

Goku is easily strong enough to defeat Hulk but the pro-comic bias of many and the anti-DBZ stance of even anime fans make Kakarot's victory highly unlikely.

I'm on the fence with Goku vs Hulk. I'm sure that he and the Flash would be the only two opponents in the tournament that would force him to use SSJ3.

We try not to pick anyone that's too overpowering to put in the tournament, which is why you don't see Thor, Silver Surfer, Green Lantern, or Dr. Strange in the tournament either.
I like Superman.

Which era of Superman? The modern era is not so bad, and could arguably be put down by even weak magic users such as Harry Potter; the golden era version of the character sucked, so many plot convenient super-powers.

Not sure about that but I agree it would make him more interesting. I think the Kingdom Come version of Superman is far more compelling, or even the Superman from the cartoons that lobotomized Doomsday.

That's equally true of most of DC's characters - it's why they're more interesting characters than Marvel, their alter-egos are their way of coping with the "real world" and the key difference between the whiny bitches at Marvel and pretty much every other comic book character. "How will I defeat this villain?" is far more interesting for a Superhero than "What if Mary Jane and I split up?" NB: This is not my attempt to start an argument about which company is better - it will never end and will be circular within a couple of posts.

heh, very true.

I'm in the same boat. My thinking is that Goku will struggle to power up quickly enough to withstand Hulk's initial assault. It's all about acceleration and Hulk has a rocket strapped to his back, Goku is still designing a wheel.

When Goku goes SSJ3 his power makes the whole planet shake. That kind of display of would likely make both Hulk and Flash sweat; however, the form has such massive drawbacks that I don't think he could beat either.

Justice Lord Superman lobotomised a lot more people than just doomsday. He lobotomised the entirety of Batman's rouge's gallery. There was also that time he killed Lex Luthor. The Justice Lords were straight up awesome.

He would realize that and either not use the form and give it his all to outsmart them -or use it at a desperate time for a last minute attack. I really want to see him go against Hulk in this though. That battle will be huge. I could think of ways for both winning, I have no idea who I would back.

Unfortunately he's not faster than Flash even as a SSJ3, and I'd have to do some research, but I'm sure he'd have to use SSJ3 to beat Hulk. And if Hulk can plausibly hold his own for a couple of minutes, Goku's done.

Based on some other Battle sites I've seen Kid Buu has been deemed stronger than the Hulk, so SSJ3 has a chance.

Goku also can't sustain that form unless he's dead

Just said I'd be fine with it, never said it should happen. I hate anime, I've tried to get into it several times, & just can not.

I haven't read a comic book since I was in elementary school. If it's a character that hasn't been shown predominately in pop culture then odds are I won't have a clue who they are.

And even then I'm limited.

Goku also can't sustain that form unless he's dead

That's... kind of the point.

I may argue for Itachi Uchiha next year; his powers are ridiculous, sure, but he has several key weaknesses.

Oh, fuck Itachi dead in the ass with a flaming *****. I've read enough ridiculous arguments for that twat without bringing him here.

I swear to god, if he makes it in and someone mentions that fucking crow I will kill them in their bed.
