Thanks for all the positive comments and predictions. Keep the predictions coming! Just a few notes and comments of my own here. The PPV will be a while yet - have got the outline all but done, need to then add in the match details and with one of the matches being the Rumble, a challenge I'm looking forward to, it could take time. Please be patient. GCB
Jam's Review
WOW, what a Smackdown. Maybe Smackdown is becoming the #1 show for the WWE. All the feuds progressed in this episode of Smackdown. You do a good job of throwing people off and letting us guess what the hell will happen next, shows what kind of a booker you are GCB.
I love this Hardy reunion! It seems as though Jeff has rejuvenated his brother and I can see them making it back to the tag team division even if that division is pretty stacked at the moment. With six teams gunning for the tag team titles, I can only speculate as to who your winner would be. Should be a good one at the Rumble.
Also, your booking of Kofi Kingston continues to be really good. Never before would I think that Kofi would inject himself into the main event, but he now has that chance at the Royal Rumble. And quite frankly, I wouldn't be surprised if he won it, he's on fire right now! Having Miz interrupt him just gives him some air time and some momentum after that display. After we thought it was over, we get Big Show and he too now looks like a good pick to win the Rumble.
Another thing that is worth commending is your build for the World Heavyweight Championship. Having Punk as your champion has been really great. I feel as though that the World Heavyweight Title is just as important as Wade Barret's WWE Title, so good job there. The feud between Punk and Christian has been excellent and I hope that Christian wins the title at the Rumble. But for booking purposes, it'll probably be Punk retaining, which I don't mind at all.
Ha, a Power 25, good touch here GCB. Pretty sure I did this as well, but it was Power 10, I believe. Having this shows us the viewers, the impact that your roster has been making on their respective shows. I fully agree with you that Wade Barrett should be #1, but maybe Punk should be at #2. Having Orton there isn't bad either since he's been on a roll lately, taking out people and not caring about the higher powers. Good list. Could use some graphics though. Remember, just ask
Overall, The Royal Rumble is shaping up to be a helluva Pay-Per-View. I think I have some ideas as to who will be the Rumble winner and I'll post my predictions shortly. The winner just HAS to be a FACE, it just has to! Lol. But anyway, can't wait for the Royal Rumble GCB, post it soon!
SMACKDOWN feels like the Number 1 show right now. Bigger, better stories IMO. I wanted to address SMACKDOWN's lack of firepower early in the BT but then maybe I went a little too far. Cena came over, Kofi blew up, Hardy is here, Taker is back. I need to develop some younger RAW talent (a la Kofi) and maybe consider a move from SMACKDOWN to RAW for somebody?
More confusion over the Rumble winner - Kofi on fire, Miz in home town, Big Show after heel turn - all contenders. But don't forget Taker, Kane, Cena, Orton, Edge, Sheamus, Nexus, Hardys - all in the Rumble. Plus some surprises!
For booking purposes, CM Punk wins? Why? I don't get that. It doesn't matter who wins because (a) I have face and heel contenders lined up and ready; and (b) Elimination Chamber allows me to make a major change if I wish to. I know who will be champion coming out of EC for SMACKDOWN, it could be Punk, it could be Christian or it could be someone else. I haven't completely 100% decided who wins Punk vs. Christian yet - because I have the EC to change things anyway if I need to. The EC also makes me wonder why you reckon a face has to win - I can make the changes should I need to.
So, the NXT format has me a tad confused. I thought that when the Top 10 were finalized, that was it. I didn't know that they could lose their spots every week if they lost a match.
I guess this is good because it makes everybody work harder so that they can keep the spots that they have. Very interesting scenario. I don't remember those rules, but I guess it's been a while since I read the rules for how NXT is formed so it's probably my own fault.
So, Khali is now #1, JBL is being a dictator as usual and Rock is being the mentor. Oh and the Divas Title picture is coming together quite nicely and we got a look at the British Empire before the Royal Rumble.
Overall, a solid show in NXT.
Yeah, the swapping around the rankings was announced Week 1! Storylines will be used to get people moving around. In Elimination week, the bottom two (or three or four) will face each other in the Elimination Match. The first couple of NXT shows was all about establishing the initial NXT rankings.
Michael Cole annoys me as GM, but it's a good kind of annoying.
And I love the way you had Jeff Hardy return. At first, I found it confusing that Jeff was telling Matt to forget about winning the World Title, but I see what he was doing. He wants Matt to remember that being a WWE superstar is what he wanted to be and how he shouldn't quit. Interesting.
And The Rumble is this Sunday and everybody is making a name for themselves before The Royal Rumble this Sunday. Big Show laying out Miz and Kofi and the confrontation between Cena and Orton, and Christian's promo. Christian's promo was pretty solid. Actually had me believing that he can actually win at The Rumble. I doubt it, but it's a good buildup.
+1 for hating Cole.
Glad you enjoyed the Matt and Jeff segment, I found that a little hard to write and get it right for what I wanted. It should breathe new life into Matt whose character is a little stale even if I have built him up as a threat again. Lots of twists and turns to follow over the coming weeks with these two, as with lots of other guys, I want to keep you all guessing. That's why so many guys are being built up - I want you all to believe that anybody could win the Royal Rumble because that's one of my main beefs with the WWE - it's down to 2 or 3 before it even starts.
For starters, I love HBK as GM. I think this is what inspired me to make Bret Hart my GM. Because he has the experience and understanding of the business. I like his little feud with Edge. I wonder if HBK is going to have "One More Match"?
I also LOVE how you've built the WWE Championship feud between Wade Barrett and Triple H. The mic work you've done with Barrett has been very good. You're really putting him in the spotlight and really showing that he can be the man. This feud can Triple H can be what really puts him over the top. But there's a little ace in the hole called Kurt Angle. Do I smell a Triple Threat at WrestleMania? Or will Miz spoil the fun? So many angles to go with this.
I like that you're placing some emphasis on the midcard, but #1 Contenders Ladder Match! WHOA! That's really saying something. I figured it'd be a Ladder Match for the US Title. But I could see a solid match being put on between Bryan and Dibiase though.
John Cena vs Randy Orton. This feud has really gotten heated. Orton can't touch Cena and it's tearing him apart. I can see you building to an Orton/Cena match at WrestleMania. The battle to see who the real top dog is in the WWE.
You built up The Rumble very well IMO. There's a strong amount of people making their case for The Rumble and I'm interested in seeing the outcome of Barrett vs Triple H. There's really so many angles to go with this.
HBK - one more match? He's retired.
I like writing for Barrett, he's an English 'Northern Monkey' like me - on the dark side of the hills but that can't be helped - so I can get his little pet speaking parts well. I agree with Prophet when he mentioned that Barrett kept winning dirty in the Lounge though, if he is going to stay as WWE Champion (he may not), then I'd better make him more of a legitimate threat on his own. This will happen as I think Wade is gold - with or without the title.
I'll put you in the Orton-Cena camp for WM27, that's cool. I'll not spoil it ... yet.
I will give you a gigantic review when you post the Rumble mate, whether I have finished OtL be then or not. I am super busy at the moment and I haven't even given this weeks episodes a proper look, but here are my reviews. I am a little iffy on having the NXT guys here, I don't feel as though they deserve to be on such a huge PPV, and a full blown US title match would have been a lot better but other than that, you have an awesome show planned. Both world title matches have been built up well and are both matches I want to see in real life, they will be great. You are attempting to rebuild the tag division, and just like me, a tag turmoil match is a nice way to showcase the new teams. I have no idea who is winning the Rumble, looking forward to it!
Real life > BT. I get what you're saying about the NXT guys but I want to raise their profiles - the three who survive NXT will need to become bigger stars than they were before. The winner gets a WWE/World Title shot, the other two should fit back in in IC/US Title contention - putting them on a PPV raises their profiles IMO. As for the US #1 contender match, I really needed Gabriel in the Rumble. I might be guilty of forcing DiBiase vs. Bryan a little but if you watched 2001 Royal Rumble and saw Jericho vs. Benoit in a Ladder Match, you'll know why I wanted a Ladder match at the Rumble! Bryan and DiBiase should be a fun little match.
Glad nobody seems to have a clue who's going to win the Rumble. Perfect!
I loved just how you opened up Smackdown with Cole's introduction and then him being jeered and booed like Cole doesn't already know how the fans are going to treat him, we don't like him, plain and simple and I hope Chip Butty comes to his senses and fires Michael Cole as GM of Smackdown, and Chip in the words of Vince McMahon says Michael Cole YOU'RE FIREDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD and then we can see Cole in agony that he is no longer the GM of Smackdown because I can't stand him, and how did I know he was going to cancel the Buried Alive match but instead makes another match of Taker facing Matt Hardy instead and how about Kane, how come he doesn't have to compete in a match but yet his brother The Undertaker does
I just love how you virtually just recapped my whole show, man. Thanks for that.
Cole Opening- Cole as GM is on fire. Yet, I hate him for disses my people. Me hating him is a good thing. You did great here. The whole volume thing played in well.
Good, good, good. Michael Cole was just beginning to be a real douche when I started the BT and people now expect him to be like that so I decided that as GM, he could really generate some hate for himself and the heels. This was something that I changed on the fly, Cole was never planned to be GM but it came to me as I went through Survivor Series and the change was then made at Vengeance. I prefer heel GM's - HBK better watch out!
Side note- I think the British Empire needs a top-level player. I like both Finley and Regal, but they need to have that one guy who sells me on them. Probably just my mind working out options . . . but a Sheamus or a Barret wouldnt hurt.
Why on earth would I want to waste Sheamus or Wade Barrett on the Tag Team division? Wade Barrett is WWE Champion and has Nexus, Sheamus is just off a mega-feud with Triple H and is a former WWE Champion in the recent past. If the British Empire was going to be a main event player immediately, then maybe but they're not - they're trying to help rebuild the Tag Team division on NXT. After WrestleMania, I'll re-evaluate where they're going but they've only been around for a few weeks. Bit early to add a main eventer to their ranks. I do have a little kernel of an idea forming for the Empire BUT it depends on how I feel after WM27.
