Favorite Themed PPV

Warrior

Its Been a while
There was a thread about if the themed Pay per views should go away and one about whether or not they are taking away from the HIAC. Since this thread discuss none of those issues I thought that it be okay to post. I apologize if i am wrong.

Now back to my question.

Whatever we like it or not, Themed Pay Per Views aren't going away any time soon. So, what's your favorite themed PPV?

I personally like Night Of Champions, It just makes sense to me. Very rarely are any titles but the World and WWE title defended on PPV. This assures you that all champions will defend and most importantly for me, the TAG and U.S titles will be defended! It always gives me a sense of hope that the WWE will give more attention to the WWE Tag titles. False hope, but hope never the less.

I think that extreme rules is my favorite. Sure, its usually just wrestlemania rematces, but the matches are good nonetheless. Night of champions was good, but i agree with aquaman. If you are going to just have 1 on 1 matches, at least make them for a number one contenedership position so its actually relevant to the pay per view a little

I actually liked Bragging Rights... but with the SuperShows now, there is no point.

My favorite right now is Money In The Bank. This PayPerView was been one of the best during their year the last 2 years. The concept is one of my favorites in WWE. It adds so much unpredictability IMO.

I also like TLC. The Tables match, Chairs match, Ladder match, and TLC match all extend or end feuds greatly.

I actually like them. I'm more compelled to PPV with a good gimmick than second rate PPV like No Mercy which isn't as good as Summerslam and has no special attraction, unless there is a match that I need to see.

Elimination Chamber has to be my favourite. The structure looks bad ass, you get more characters to deal with, and long dramatic hard hitting match.

Night of Champions, Money in the Bank and Bragging Rights were also good.
I was a fan of Fatal 4 Way I would have liked that to become a tradition.

Honestly hell in a cell is the only bad one and that's just because the match itself should be a blood feud. Instead, just have a PPV generic name lined up, but have a subtitle available like the October PPV could have been called "No Mercy" but then add "No Mercy: Hell in a Cell" or whatever.

I like Money in the Bank. MITB itself is sort of an event. You see who gets the golden opportunity and you don't need a blood feud to have one of those matches. It's a lot like the MLB all star game. You gain an advantage from winning and it's sort of an all star game.

Money in the Bank easily. For the two years the WWE had MitB as its own Pay-Per-View had caused more rifts and changes in the WWE than any of the other gimmick Pay-Per-Views in the WWE. The first MitB we got Kane reviving his career over the corpse of Rey Mysterio. Then you got Miz winning Money in the Bank, which later down the line elevated him to main-eventing Wrestlemania. Both men stepped up their game and proved they can be world champions.

Then the 2011 MitB Pay-Per-View gave us what could be Match of the year between CM Punk and John Cena. And the match between Christian and Randy Orton for the world title was also a great runner up match. Let's not forget we got now current world champion, Daniel Bryan main-eventing Wrestlemania.

My favorite themed PPV is Night Of Champions, only because I believe that every Title should be defend on every PPV and since this is the only one where they actually are, this is my favorite.

Now, if every Title was in fact defended on every PPV and Night Of Champions became unnecessary, then my favorite themed PPV, not including the Big 4 and King Of The Ring, would be Bragging Rights…in theory. This card should be:

WWE Champion vs. World Champion
Intercontinental Champion vs. United States Champion
WWE Tag Team Champions vs. World Tag Team Champions
Women’s Champion vs. Divas Champion
5-on-5 (or 4-on-4 or 6-on-6, but not 7-on-7) Raw vs. Smackdown Elimination Tag Team match
5-on-5 (or 4-on-4 or 6-on-6, but not 7-on-7) Raw Divas vs. Smackdown Divas Elimination Tag Team match
Raw GM vs. Smackdown GM

Now, since the World Tag Team and Women’s Titles are retired (for now), I would like to see a Triple Threat, Fatal Four Way, or a Championship Scramble featuring SuperStars from both brands for the Unified WWE World Tag Team Titles and the Unified Divas Title.

I loved Night of Champions, but booking non-title matches on it the last two years completely ruined it. The event means nothing now.

How exactly has that "ruined" the show? It had me scratching my head at first too when CM Punk VS Big Show for a non-title match got announced, but what else are they going to do? WWE do not have as many titles as they used to. There used to be two sets of tag team titles and two female titles. When those divisions got unified it opened up two slots on the Night of Champions card. Why not give the fans an extra filler match? Its not like the filler matches have been awful. I'd personally rather have an extra filler match than have a 6 match card, anything below 7 matches never feels like enough for a PPV event unless something huge like the Royal Rumble is also on the card. Having Trips & Punk main event a "championship match only" PPV in a NON-TITLE match, that's completely different however, and that was a stupid idea. The filler is fine as long as it remains filler.

Now, onto my own answer. Night of Champions is by far my favorite themed PPV event because of every title being on the line. The whole point of being a pro wrestler should be about winning championships, yet this is the only show where every single title belt is on the line. Every PPV puts the World Heavyweight and WWE Championships on the line, and we will see one other title defense, if that. The Intercontinental, United States, Divas, and Tag Team Championships take turns being defended at PPV's other than Night of Champions. With 6 title matches and a likely filler in between, you are guaranteed a show worth purchasing. I also like the TLC show due to it having not one, but FOUR gimmicks in one. Each TLC event has a Tables match, a Ladder match, a Chairs match, and a TLC match alongside some filler. Money In the Bank rounds out my top tier as my 3rd pick.

For me it's hands down Money in the Bank.

So far in it's only 2 events in the history of the PPV, both have exceeded my expectations. The 2010 PPV was really good in my opinion, the 2011 shocked me at how fantastic it was.

It also is seemingly one of the best built up PPVs of the year (Wrestlemania aside). Look at the excellent build for Cena/Punk last year, the MITB matches themselves don't need epic build up, but it wasn't too bad. Of course the 2 Ladder matches always deliver, that is to be expected but the effort put into last year's show considering it was a sub-big 4 event was surprising and paid off with the best wrestling event in 2011. Look at how it has changed the landscape already, Kane getting a world title reign, Miz, Daniel Bryan, and Alberto Del Rio all getting nice heel pushes, and of course the birth of a new top star: CM Punk.

All in all it just feels like one of the most important events of the year not considered a big 4 event (and it has on occasion exceeded just one in terms of quality).

I loved Night of Champions, but booking non-title matches on it the last two years completely ruined it. The event means nothing now.

This is one of the most asinine, completely idiotic things I have ever read. Is the event called "Night of Only Championship Matches?" NO, you idiot! All the titles have still been defended, hence it is still Night of Champions. How does having one non-title match, even though all the titles are still being defended, constitute the event being meaningless?

In closing, ether yourself and never post on this site again. Clown.
