Favorite Queen Song?

i looked and am shocked there is no thread like this and just had to make it myself! alright so in the 80's there was this band called queen with a lead singer by the name of freddy mercury...yeah they were a little bit of a sucess id say anyway i wanna know what your favorite song by them is? they have had plently of hits over the years so ill leave the obvious choices to everybody else and go with 1 queen song that i just love....

and that song is...

Fat Bottom Girls! i dont know why but i just love this song i mean its no we will rock you/we are the champions but like i said leaving the obvious choices to other people i think fat bottom girls is such a good song and well written and probably the only queen song that could possibly be covered and not suck compared to the original depending on who sang it.

so whats your favorite Queen song? i was gonna post a link but it never works for me so yeah i give up

Princes of the universe. I'm a major Highlander fan and the song does it complete justice, actually more so then deserved probably. Not a classic Queen song i'm sure since it's more "recent". Killer Queen would be my number 2.

Well, this is one I didn't even have to think about.

I WANT IT ALL

Just listen to that guitar riff! Awesome! I honestly do think that "Bohemian Rhapsody" is the greatest song ever written just because of the amount of different types of music in one song, and the complexity of it, but "I Want It All" is definitely my favourite!

The riff, the way the whole crowd will sing the chorus with their fists in the air, and the world class Brian May solo, this is what Queen are about for me, not the silly comedy songs like "Bicycle Race" and "The Invisible Man" (while still good), for me they are a rock band, and my favourite Queen songs are the more guitar based ones.

Top 10

1. I Want It All
2. Headlong
3. One Vision

cant say i have ever heard prince of my universe ill have to check that out but i love i want it all too! such a good song i agree about bohemian rhapsody possibly being the best song ever written too i want it all is probably my 2nd favorite tied with another one bites the dust

Who Wants To Live Forever is probably my favorite Queen song. It works very well as the love theme to Highlander, but when you consider how Freddie Mercury died, the song takes on an additional significance, as it could have easily applied to his own situation in dealing with AIDS. it's coincidental, as the song came out before he was diagnosed as HIV+, but the lyrics could easily have been written about someone who knew he didn't have long to live.

A close second of mine is Another Bites the Dust. You play this song on the right sound system, and it's obvious that it has one of the greatest bass parts of all time. That bass riff is just fucking awesome.

Queen of the 70's were vastly superior to Queen of the 80's. There are various songs I could pick Killer Queen to My Best Friend, Don't Stop Me Now, Crazy Little Thing Called Love but I'm going with

Bohemian Rhapsody, Crazy little Thing Called Love, I Want It All, and Fat Bottom Girls are my favorite Queen songs.

all good choices by everybody im a little surprised nobody picked we will rock you/we are the champions but oh well atleast i got to hear some queen songs i never heard from this thread so thats pretty cool.

RAAAAADIOOOO...

SOOOOOMEOOOOONE STIIIIIIIILLLLL LOOOOOVES YOOOOOOOOOU!!!

Dagger just gave me an infraction for spam so I guess I should elaborate.:icon_rolleyes:

I simply love Radio Gaga's anthemic chorus. Freddie really showed what an impressive set of pipes he had, especially when you listen to or watch their famed performance at Wembley. Also, though the song's lyrics concern the demise of radio to the ever-growing influence of television, I think the meaning behind the words is still relevant today, seeing as the popular music industry is slowly collapsing in on itself.

Queen is easily my favorite band of all time, that being said, choosing a favorite song is near impossible and I usually have a different one every time I'm asked. But for now I'll say "Great King Rat" from their debut.

By the way, in regard to the person who said "Who Wants to Live Forever" could have been written about Freddie's AIDS diagnosis, remember, not only was it written too early, Freddie didn't write it. Brian May write it after being shown parts of the film.

I enjoy several Queen songs. I've got their two disc greatest hits collection so there is a large number of cool tracks to listen to on there. Songs such as Bohemian Rhapsody and Another One Bites the Dust are obvious picks. I also really like Innuendo due to how they incoporate different types of styles into it. My favorite of all is probably Hammer to Fall though. It's heavy, catchy, and is a good listen under just about any situation. I cannot ask for much else in a song.

It was me, but you misconstrued what I was saying. I was saying...

me said:

You must have missed that part, because I quite clearly acknowledged that fact. I was simply stating that the lyrics apply perfectly to someone in Freddie's situation, even if he didn't write it for that reason.

I have already said that "I Want It All" is my favourite Queen song, but just thinking about the band, it really is a huge loss to music that Freddie is no longer with us.

The man was a born entertainer, a wonderful singer and in my opinion the greatest frontman in musical history. Just look at Queen playing at Live Aid if you need any proof.

R.I.P Freddie

I gotta go with "A Kind of Magic." My mom used to blare Queen in her Volkswagon Vanagon when my brother and I were kids, and I've been hooked ever since. It's hard to choose just one song since every Queen song is just mindblowingly awesome, but when I think back to my childhood memories of rocking out of Queen, I immediately think of "A Kind of Magic."

Bohemian Rhapsody, no doubt about it.

I just think that this song has everything. It has flowing soft melodies and brilliant harmonies. Coupled with slamming guitar solos and whimsical features. The song has long since been on my iPod and I doubt there will come a day when I remove it forever. From start to finish, it just scream “all time classic” and that is what it has become and rightfully so, I might add.

It is a shame that Freddie Mercury is dead because Queen would have evolved with the times. I seriously doubt that they would still be making music today but Mercury was, pardon the pun, a mercurial talent. People like him come along every once in a while and completely change music. He would have still been involved with music, no doubts here. But at least we will remember him for the right reasons. He made quality music that really made it's mark on the world.

A true talent with many wonderful songs.

Queen still tours sans-Freddie so I think they'd still be touring (if not making music) today. I agree, though, that it's a real shame such a talented and influential musician passed way before his time.

I used to be drawn to their biggest hits (Bohemian Rhapsody, Under Pressure, Crazy Little Thing) but nowadays I've played those songs so many times that I get more joy out of playing other songs. Most notably "Made in Heaven" which is one of those songs that perfectly encapsulate what Freddie was. Half a dozen high notes, loving and a great songwriter. I think it was originally on his first solo album and then it later turned up re-done on a Queen album.

Other than "Made in Heaven", "Play the Game" probably tops my list. I remember riding in the car with my roommate and this song came on. Obviously I could tell it was Freddie but I had no idea what song it was. I asked her what it was and as soon as I got home I scoured my Queen cd's and there it was hidden like a gem in one of the track lists. It was one of those moments when you realize you've been in possession of one of the greatest songs you've heard. A great solo from May which seems to be just about every Queen song and a perfect (per usual) performance by Mercury. Man I wish he was still around. I can only imagine what great music they would be creating. Or rather I can't imagine as they were always pushing the boundaries of popular music. RIP Freddie.

Just so many to choose from. We will rock you and we are the champions made my childhood before I even knew who was the mastermind behind the songs. Now, that I've been enlightened, I'd have to say it has to be Bohemian R. I know it's an obvious and unoriginal choice, but it would be a degrade to the greatest piece of music ever created. period.
