And a Japanese legend goes home early. Andre was very well respected in Japan as well, so Chono would have respect for him in this match. The weapons don't really fit into either's style as Chono would keep it a normal match and Andre wouldn't need them. The match boils down to this: Chono can't put the STF on Andre. That ends it.

I don't care who that Japanese wrestler Andre is facing is, because, frankly, it doesn't matter who he is. It is going to take a monster of a man to eliminate Andre the Giant from this competition. While some may say that Andre got a bad draw being in ECW, I say he got the best draw possible. It doesn't take a genius to know that hitting someone with a chair or a bat would hurt. Andre swinging something hard or pointy will cause serious damage to his opponent. Andre should win his sub-region.

People may never fathom what an amazing match this would be with both Chono and Andre in their primes. Along with the Mutoh's and Inoki's of the world, Chono was one of the best out there. He has a win over Lou Thesz, 6 G1 Climax wins, 1 IWGP World Title, 7 IWGP Tag Titles, an NWA World Title Run (he hurt his neck in a match against Austin...karma is a bitch...), and won Best Heel of 1995 and Best Worked Match vs Rick Rude at Halloween Havoc in 1992.

Against almost anyone else, he'd have a legit shot. Only four men I can think of in this tournament can claim to be as big of a bi-country star (US and Japan) as Chono, and he's facing one in Andre the Giant. (Hogan, Vader, and Inoki are the others, El Canek is borderline.)

Andre the Giant is the 2nd greatest SHW in pro wrestling history, and in his 1970's prime, despite his massive size, could move around the ring with speed and intensity only equaled by men named Vader, Bigelow, and DeMott.

Here's the really good match between Chono and Vader from the 1989 IWGP World Championship Tournament at the Tokyo Dome:

I cannot even begin to explain what a draw this match would be in Japan, and how well both men would work it.

Andre the Giant didn't ever really lose in his prime, except in Japan. I think Chono would have beaten him in Japan, I really do, but in America Andre didn't lose for over a decade of regular competition, and I can'tsee Chono putting a stop to that.

I've never seen anyone hit Andre with a chair, but I imagine, like a large number of massive Superheavyweights, he'd no sell it and get the rage. Andre wins this one in Denver, and quite decisively, but not as easily as it would seem at first glance.

Andre wins this. No matter how close the match is, Andre ends this when he wants to end it. Look back at the drama surrounding WrestleMania 3. Hulk fucking Hogan was worried that Andre was going to turn shoot on him, and just lay on him to end it. Now, if Hogan can't take Andre in a shoot-fight, I doubt Chono will. I'm not taking anything away from him, but I am giving immense credit to Andre.

If everything falls right, we could be looking at a final here of Vader v. Andre, and I may actually have to abstain from voting. And, we may need a medic to check on IC.

its is a real tuffy as both Chono and Giant could win in this situation.

Chono because he would know to use weapons in this situation to wear Giant.

Giant because .... well hes simply Andre The Giant i have heard god knows how many stories. for example i heard that he drank 15 bottles of wine before WM 3 (and the guy didnt even look drunk!!!!), he would sometimes make Hogan throw up out of fear and when he was on a plane once with heenan he was uncomfortable in his seat so he started to adjust (e.g. take it apart and re-build it) it when a stuidess (dont know how to spell it) walks past and asks if Andre if he needs help. Andre replies "get me a screw driver". lady walks off comes back with a screw driver Andre replies "what would you have done if i had asked for a bloody mary?".

so to decide who i am gunna vote for im gunna have to flip a coin brb .................

EDIT = the coin says Andre

Andre, ftw. Andre is probably one of those guys that will never get the love he is due, because people just can't remember how good the man was. Vince Jr is hell bent on everyone remembering the washed up beaten down old man from Wrestlemania 3. What is lost is the man of the 70's that could move in the ring and beat everyone, in which he did.

Chono, damn fine wrestler in his own regard, but completely over matched here, even in an extreme environment.

I never liked Andre The Giant, and will never understand the love people give him. In my opinion, he was nothing more than a prototype, for lack of better words, for agile and quick super heavyweights, even though he was nowhere near as agile and quick as those that came after him.

Thanks for inspiring a movement, Andre, but you're going up against one of Japan's finest, a man whom I believe would soundly beat you. Also, that this match is in ECW only gives more of an advantage to Chono.

Pick: Chono
