Dark Match Jobber
Disclaimer- Please do not read this if you are a wrestling mark because you will not agree with ANYTHING I have to say. I define a mark as a little kid or woman who likes Cena or Orton because they are "cool" or "look hot" and not because of anything relevant like their actual ability to wrestle. If you do read my posts you will notice that I tend to favor the guys that can actually wrestle and I am a very pro heel guy, so just a warning before you move on with the reading...
Ok, so those who read my post yesterday saw my thoughts and predictions for the PPV, so let's see how many I got right and how many I missed. I have posted my original pick as well just, so nobody can say that I changed my mind or lied about knowing so much! lol
-Rey Mysterio vs. R-Truth- This one is kind of tough because it could go one of two ways: They could give the match to Truth to build his heel character up and further the feud or they could have Rey beat Truth since Truth has got the best of Rey on the last two RAWs and then have Truth come out tomorrow night with his "angry black man" gimmick and further the feud... I think I'll go with Rey on this one!
Ok, so I started out the night bad by picking Rey, but it was one of the few times that the formula didn't work. You know the formula where the guy who takes the beating or comes out on the short end of the stick week after week or the week before the PPV usually comes out on top, but obviously the WWE is trying to push Truth and get him over in this new heel gimmick of his. I just hope for Truth's sake beating Rey puts him in a good place because it really has done nothing so far for Cody Rhodes, who beat Rey at Wrestlemania 27. The Truth/Mysterio match was actually pretty good and wasn't a bad way to kick off Over the Limit.
WWE Intercontinental Championship Match:
-Wade Barrett (c) vs. Ezekiel Jackson- Kind of hard to call I mean Barrett is a young talent they are trying to build and he hasn't been the IC Champ that long, but Big Zeke also seems to be a guy they are trying to develop into something, so I'll go out on a limb and say Barrett keeps it because of Slater and Gabriel, but if Zeke wins I won't be shocked either!
I technically nailed that right on the head because Barrett did indeed keep the belt because of Gabriel and Slater, so that's 1 for 2 right there! I think they should have either let these guys go longer or put the match further up the card because these are two guys that WWE could really get some good things out of if marketed and used right, although I'm not sure how they are going to get Big Zeke over and obviously they haven't figured out how to do that yet either! They have to decide if they want him in a group or by himself and right now in a group might be better because of his weak mic skill, but to me his pyschical ability should be able to make up some for the lack of vocal skills because I personally watch more for the wrestling than hearing guys talk for two hours anyway, but I guess that's just me! I've heard people say that Zeke reminds them of a Lashley/Kane combo, so let's see if the WWE thinks that way and puts him in a program or situation that will help him succeed.
-Sin Cara vs. Chavo Guerrero- It's highly unlikely that Sin Cara would lose his debut match on PPV, so I'm going with the masked man on this one! Should be good cruiserweight action though and I like how they are using Chavo to help develop Sin Cara's skills because after all Chavo is still a good in ring performer -- might as well use him to help along a guy like Cara!
This was one they call a "No Brainer", but I will take it to be 2 out of 3 ! I would go into detail, but my prediction comments are really all I have to say about that other than making a comment about the mood lighting they use for Sin Cara... I don't like it!
WWE Tag Team Championship Match:
-Big Show and Kane (c) vs. CM Punk and Mason Ryan- I'd love to see them put the tag belts on Punk and help him further develop Mason Ryan by giving him a tag title run with an experienced and accomplished wrestler, but I don't see that happening, so I'll go with ShowKane, but I actually hope I am wrong on this one!
Well usually when I hope I am wrong about something I never am just like last night when I picked ShowKane to keep the tag belts which they did making me 3 for 4! I think it would have been a great way to give Punk a belt while helping to bring Mason Ryan along by also putting a belt on him and having him work with Punk as a partner for awhile, but why would they do that right? All may not be lost though for my fellow Punk fans because according to wrestlezone, CM Punk might be the next in line to feud with Cena which would if nothing else put Punk in a big time feud and assure that he will be used week after week, but I guess we will see how that plays out tonight as well as the weeks to follow.
WWE Divas Championship Match:
-Brie Bella (c) vs. Kelly Kelly- Who cares?!? Maybe Kelly Kelly wins because of Kharma? I'll go with K squared, but again I ask.... WHO CARES!?!
Ok I missed this one,but I didn't really care because nobody else cared either if you base it off the crowd reaction! I did think that they would put K square over and give her the coveted butterfly belt *yuck*, but obviously Vince or someone likes something the Bella Twins are doing * insert your jokes here* I like Women's wrestling and I do think it has a place in the business, but I have to say I didn't even really count this match against me because after all look at who the participants were? But in the interest of fairness I'll say 3 for 5 to make everyone happy!
WWE World Heavyweight Championship Match:
-Randy Orton (c) vs. Christian- Orton... I don't think they would take the belt away from Orton right after he won it on Smackdown I mean it's not like he's Christian or anything right? I wouldn't mind seeing Christian lose then go completely nuts, turn heel and rip Orton a new one, but more than likely Orton will just win, they shake hands blah blah.
Another easy one to call for me since Orton is suppose to be the SD version of Steve Austin while Cena is RAW's version of Hulk Hogan! Christian of course did not go nuts and beat up Orton like I wanted to see and they also didn't shake hands, but I would still say these two gave the fans the match of the night!
Kiss My Foot Match:
-Jerry Lawler vs. Michael Cole. If Cole wins, Jerry Lawler must give him his Hall of Fame ring and induct Cole into the WWE Hall of Fame.- I'm hoping to see Cole get completely destroyed tonight which could very well happen or it could be a swerve and Swagger could suprise us all bu helping Cole win yet again, but I would hope that WWE knows better than to drag this thing around for one more night and just end it! We could see JR come out also and get revenge on Cole and we could see a repeat of the "Kiss my Foot" match when Bret Hart stuck Lawler's own dirty foot down his own throat with Cole having to taste that nasty crap on his own feet!
This was my favorite match of the night just to see Cole get what has been coming to him for several months now! As I said JR did come out to get his revenge as well as Eve which I thought was great too! Didn't really get the Bret Hart appearance I mean I know it ties in with the whole Hart/Lawler "Kiss my Foot" match several years ago, but still I'd rather have seen Swagger come out throw him back in and put him in the ankle lock, but whatever. I still wish they would have had Cole tasting his own nasty foot and that Lawler had beaten Cole a lot worse than he did, but now it should all be over and we will more than likely see Cole go back to a normal broadcaster tonight on RAW or whenever he is back on TV. 5 out of 7!
"I Quit" Match for the WWE Championship:
-John Cena (c) vs. The Miz- I can't phathom them having "Super" Cena say "I Quit", but you know Cole did have a point when he said if anybody can defy the odds it just might be Miz, so I might not be 100% shocked if Miz did win, but I'd be 99.9%, so I gotta go with Cena.
I personally thought the match wasn't that great and the ending was cheesy, but I did like Miz yelling at the "Cena kids" telling them to make him quit! The whole thing of "I'm gonna tell you what I have in my hand and how I'm going to hit you with it thing" was too much I mean you got a kendo stick don't talk about using it just use the damn thing! The whole recording the voice thing like they did with Rock/Mankind at the Royal Rumble was ok, but then having Riley botch the sucessfull cheating finish again was awful and since when has a ref checked someone's cell phone for potential cheating? Just another typical day in the life of "Super" Cena I guess!
Well in my mind I finished with 1 wrong, but if you are counting that Women's match then I was 6 for 8 which isn't bad and all in all I give the PPV 2 stars... it would have been 3, but Booker T ruined that by saying too much!
