Deflections do not nullify the original pass. It was offside.

They do, a few have been given this season including Cisse v Man U.

No, they do not. If the ball deflects off a defender, the offside is judged from the position of the original pass.

Just because refs have gotten it wrong at other times this season does not change the rule.

Well I'll change my quote to I am glad they went down full stop.

Beckham was a decent footballer and a world class self promoter, but I think his heart's in the right place. Football will probably be worse without him, Paris Saint Germain won't be.

I won a days training session with Beckham and the Neville brothers when I was a child. Beckham was the biggest cunt of the three.

He's just leaving Newcastle, he wants to go to Hartlepool.

In other news Pulis has gone and that means Pardew is now the second longest serving PL manager.

It's pretty sad that the 2nd longest serving manager has, what, less than two years with their current team. It's even sadder the manager who's been there the longest in the league hasn't won a thing since 2005.

No club would want Pulis in good times, the fans would go ape shit. He won't get a job until someone's up shit creek next season and he's seen as someone who can long throw in them to safety.

This now means Brendan Rodgers is the 6th longest serving manager, and he's not been there a year yet.

It also means that all 91 league clubs have changed their manager since Wenger last won a trophy.

Asmir Begovic and Kolo Toure to Liverpool it seems.

Not convinced by Begovic and Toure is a shadow of his former self. Don't expect the latter to play all that much and would seem like a bit of a stop gap measure after BR failed to get Carra to stay on for another year.

Also hearing rumbles about Callum McManaman coming to Anfield. If he plays like he has in the last few months (horror tackle aside) then all well and good but I think he has all the hallmarks of a player that will have his dynamic wing play coached out of him, especially by a passing addict like BR.

It almost feels like next season is going to be a restart of the Premier League. I mean sure, the usual clubs will likely be jostling for the same positions, but with so many clubs adapting to new managers and more money going around, I can't wait for next season.

Stuff I've missed lately;
Moyes replacing Fergie is something I'm quite happy with, especially with Fergie still being involved with the club to help the transition.

Beckham has done as much for football as he could and will still continue doing good work for various charities. Seems like a decent guy and was a good watch, either in his good moments or bad.

Who are Stoke going to attract? That's an odd job to handle and I don't envy whoever succeeds Tony Pulis.

We've got a terrible reputation, but we're also a very well run club. The chairmain isn't afraid of putting his hands in his pockets. I think we're a more attractive option than a lot of people would like to think we are.

That said, I could see Pulis heading to Goodison.

If he's no longer good enough for Stoke then he's not going to be for Everton.

Not convinced by Begovic

If it wasn't for Begovic we'd have gone down. Probably below QPR. Begovic should, and could, go to a bigger team than Liverpool.

Pulis hasn't been that good. His net spending in the past season has only been surpassed by City and Chelsea. His players have no resale value, which means his scouting isn't that good in the first place when he has to keep replacing his own signings at a loss every year.

Contrast that with the job Martinez or Allardyce had done in recent years. Both have to keep buying new players at their struggling clubs because their stars get poached away by the bigger clubs, not because they had to sell them due to under performance. Even better, compare Pulis to the job Moyes has done at Everton, who has managed to reinvest into the team better than the above two. Pulis' only saving grace is Stoke has survived every year comfortably.
