[DC/Marvel] TV Shows/Movies Discussion Thread

He's the only Superman villain I know besides Luthor, Bizarro and Brainiac haha

There's Zod, in case you missed basically everything about Superman's existence :lmao:

There are many more villains that would be awesome in Superman movies, but I think Doomsday is being used to reel in everyone that has soured on Superman in the past, and as Lee said, it could be at the very end as a set up for future films.

Since they are pulling in so many of the other members of the Justice League, I am hoping we get a Blackest Night film somewhere, because that...that would just be far too awesome.

I've only read like one when I was younger but I'm interested in a Lobo movie. Alien biker with a gutting hook as a weapon seems interesting. Although I don't know if Warner Bros could pull it off.

Sooooooooooooooooooo all but confirmed what ends up uniting the first three(WW Supes, Batman) in the Justice League in BvS

Lex Luthor creates Doomsday

Theory I've heard is that:
Lexcorp, using the Kryptonian tech, modifies the Genesis chambers from MoS to make Zod into a biotechnological weapon that analyzes it's opponents with the aid of a satellite to make itself stronger and better. It ostensibly exists as the governments back up in case Superman ever goes rogue. Their "Doomsday" plan. If you will.

Also I recently rewatched Man of Steel. While the film had some severe pacing and script issues (Mostly with Kevin Costner's character all caused by David Goyer being unable to write a screenplay on his own), the character of Zod is better than just about any Marvel character not named Kingpin. And the battles are just amazing. Michael Shannon stole the show as he tends to. Plus i really enjoy the threat being just 4 guys rather than one guy with thousands of faceless minions (Aka Ronan, Ultron, Malekith, Loki, I can go on).

Also Zack Snyder's style lends itself to some great fight scenes. Seeing Zod v Superman and their fight makes me excited for in fighting between Justice League members. Like imagine the way Superman v Shazam/Black Adam v Aquaman? All those motherfuckers flying through the air. Awesome.

To properly do a movie for Lobo, I think they'd have to aim for a hard R, which will probably never happen in the current world of superhero movies. They would/could tune it down, and get a PG-13, but it would take away a lot of his character.

Unless they let him curse like a sailor and comedically bleep out half his dialogue.

you mean like Deadpool?

but the point that the current superhero climate wont allow for an R-Rated film is still redundant

They will allow for it but it won't make money. For God sakes, look at Fury Road: Established character, nostalgia, A-listers, phenomenal reviews, high budget. It didn't make all that much money compared to others. It didn't break 400 million. Look at Superman Returns which didn't get a sequel. The budget and return were pretty similar.

Now you're saying they should make an R-rated movie on Lobo? A practical no name? NSL was saying they won't make hard R movie because there's an easy and very realistic chance of a flop. Comic books appeal to kids and making it a hard R alienates a large amount of the potential audience.

tl:dr? Lobo won't be made and even if it were, it won't be an R-Rating.

Motherfucking yes.

Deadpool has a vehement and huge fanbase. Lobo does not. The Deadpool movie is still probably gonna flop.

Basically what he said. The movie's not going to flop, but it's definitely not going to make the money that the current MCU is making. It softens the blow, a bit, that Reynolds as Deadpool has already been introduced to the masses.

For a Lobo movies to happen, it would either have to accept a PG-13 rating, or they'd have to slowly work him into it, and then maybe get the pass with an R.

not arguing that lobo will be made, just that r-rated films in the superhero genre can be made ffs

Oh God. Yes they can be made obviously. In the same vein that they could make an x-rated Superhero movie with extreme amounts of Gore and nudity. They can be made. They shouldn't because it's bad business. Not a single person in this thread said R rated superhero movies are impossible and never happen. It's pretty stupid that you felt the need to point that out.

Apparently The Crow remake is having a load of problems the main star left and the production company is going under. Brandon Lee's ghost is upset

Does anyone reckon when this wave over the next few years is done we're going to get more elseworlds style movies?

Just wanted to insert this :)

Gotham was since the beggining weak on screenplay side(I mean, cmon, 5 guys come to police station and kill everyone :lmao: ) but that has to be on pair with Ledger interpretation of Joker(if Jerome is indeed Joker and not just "red herring").

Yeah but I hate that they are trying to give the joker a backstory that gives a name it's just not what the joker is and batman is years away from being a thing which is when the joker arrived on the scene. They want the show to be "find out what made the greatest batman villains of all time become the villains they are" even though it was batman that made them

I'm of the opinion that this is an alternate Gotham universe. Bruce is 12 years old. Jerome (Joker?) is 18 years old. Six years isn't much difference if look further down the line. Penguin is probably early twenties. Nigma as well. The age differences are realistic for the most part. I can see them fast forwarding eventually should the show continue for multiple seasons. Of course that would require some recasting but I find the theories interesting and so far the second season is superior to the first, in my opinion.

What theories? Care to share some?

Gotham season two has been really good. It feels like an entirely new show with the way it's been going. I hope you guys aren't too concerned with Bruce because the series is meant to cover how Gotham was before Batman with James Gordon as our hero, so to speak. They could probably do this whole villain thing for at least two seasons because there is so much they can do.
