What's with people still saying that the buttons on the kid's jacket spell DX when everyone else says that they spell DK for Donna Karan, the fashion company?

Doesn't that throw that theory out of the window almost entirely?

Chris Jericho is a guy who would put together something like this on his own to reinvent himself before returning. I can totally buy into this being about him however there is still a part of me that leans towards Taker. Taker is always built up by vignettes before returning and he usually returns just after the new year before building to WM.

Taker also generally goes for these darker style vignettes which is usually Jericho’s style however, as I stated above Jericho has said many times that he won’t come back unless he reinvents himself. He doesn’t want to do the Y2J or the ‘best at what he does’ gimmicks anymore, he wants to do something fresh and different for his character. This vignette is certainly different to his past characters and points to him being a very possible candidate.

Personally, I’d love for it to be Jericho. He’s so talented in the ring and on the mic for me not to be excited about his possible return. I would much rather Taker just ‘turn up’ randomly without any vignettes or promos. That would be something different for him who nearly always has a vignette hyping his return.

This is my first post on this forum, but I have been reading for a long time.

I'm quite surprised that nobody has taken what Jericho said about not 'wrestling' for the WWE again into consideration.

Jericho is returning "to take back what is his: - "Raw is Jericho," as possibly the new General Manager of Raw. The "end of the world" as we know it, is possibly referring to the end of the Johnny Ace era of Raw.

Kane has his own promos going on.
this leaves undertaker (more then likely), Jericho (since he was talking to officials about a return), or (and this is just for giggles), sting finally came to his senses and joined the wwe (ha nope).

Ok, so the likelihood of Chris Jericho being the star behind the "It Begins" promos is pretty high.
That being said, if Chris Jericho is to return, how will he do it? How will he make it different from his debut and "2nd coming"? Finally, what gimmick will he go with?

He debuted as a heel and returned to "save.us" as a face. He has said in many recent interviews that if he was to return he would want to do something "different" and unique.

Do the promos give a hint of a "darker" or possible "gothic" Chris Jericho? Or are these promos just produced in a way to make us think it is someone else?

I think it's fair to say that he will "return" initially as a face, due to his evident massive fan base. Will he gradually become a heel again, setting the mood to face Punk at WM?

Chris Jericho as both a face and heel, in my opinion, has never been a dominant force in the WWE. A definite main-eventer and money drawer but he's never really shown brute force in the ring. Possibly due to his look/size etc. With this in mind, could it be possible for him to return as an aggressive, violent tyrant who solidifies himself as a heel upon his return by taking out "the best in the world"? Setting up the Punk vs Y2J @WM feud?

I'm looking forward to reading everyone's thoughts

Chris Jericho won't be Chris Jericho if it isn't his cocky arrogant loud guy. I don't want him resorting to some sort of gimmick which is out of his character. I just want him to return the way he is before. But I believe he said that he would return without the suit and less talk. That is fine too, but not a darker and gothic persona like the TS suggest.

Also I want him to use the liontamer as his finisher. Although I believe the higher ups won't let him.

I've been in total cynical asshole mode about Jericho coming back, not buying into it, fighting pretty hard that its gotta be the Taker..... and I regret it. Sorry to anyone I gave shit to. Its Jericho.

With that said.... fucking awesome! Jericho is coming back! The new Jericho is going to be the perfect foil for the new guys that have been stealing his thunder. The Miz wants to be the smartass, smug bastard... Jericho is going to put Junior in his place. Punk wants to be the best in the world, Jericho is going to bring back some of his early lucha/indy style moves to show Punk hes actually the best wrestler in the world. I see him working to be better than every top guy at their respective niche. Hes going to talk circles around everyone on the mic, and if breaking kayfabe is whats impressive right now, hes going to really push that envelope.

I know he says he tries to create a new character every time he comes back, I guess if I had to sum it up, it would be "Jericho's greatest hits".

My problem is that while knocking off the two guys he claim are robbing his past characters he has to jump from heel vs punk, to face vs the Miz. I have no idea how hes going to pull this off unless Punk is willing to play short term heel for this one...

Good thread, this is something that I've been thinking about ever since he took time off. He always said that he wanted to keep things fresh and come in with a hot gimmick whenever returning so I know he will, he's a perfectionist who needs to improve his character constantly to give the fans what they deserve. I do believe that he'll be debuting in a darker role considering the way the promos have been done, he's already played the smiling face rocker but this time I see him doing rocker look but much darker and evil, like a mix between Y2J and Taker. Ofcourse this has awesome potential in my opinion, the idea gets me extremely excited and I think leading into a match against Taker at Mania this would be perfect, can't wait to see!

I would love to see a "Lone Wolf" brawler-type gimmick for Chris Jericho. He's heel, doesn't take guff from anybody, and he says and does whatever he wants. Refuses to team up with people if they have a common enemy.

It is Jericho, but WWE has designed these vignettes in a way that if Jericho does not agree to termsn, the vignettes will be used to re-introduce Undertaker,. January 2, 2012 Raw is going to be huge. Look within clearly refers to the 2 in Y2J, the second day.
WWE are really hoping on Jericho returning, winning the Royal Rumble and headlining Mania 28 with M Punk vs Chris Jericho. Done right, this would be a great fued. Both in ring and mic work, but my gut tells me WWE will butcher it yet again.

Who knows? Chris has said in the past that if he was to return it would be with a different gimmick and that he didnt want to come back just doing the same stuff as he had in the past. I think thats a good thing, as while a returning Y2J character would be great for a while, it would soon become stale. Coming back with a fresh style and gimmick will help keep Jericho on top.

He is such a great entertainer, really creative and puts 100% into everything he does, so if we DO see a Jericho return in early 2012, my money is on it being something brilliant. Perhaps a darker character maybe?

Except HBK doesn't want to perform anymore, he's been saying that for years, he's blatantly said he wants to retire and stay retired and he's going to be doing the second season of his hunting show this next year.

Jericho never retired & it's pretty much confirmed this is for him.

If the WWE plans on having the Punk vs Jericho match at Mania, then he needs to come back when Punk is in the middle of a match. The Titantron shows the kid in the room talking again and says, "...And today, the second day of 2012....he returns.."

The lights go out and Jericho makes his arrival. But I'm not sure about the gimmick. He's always been charismatic, arrogant and out spoken....would he be able to pull of a darker side to his character? I think whatever it is it'll be great, but Chris is a true professional and one of the best of all time. I'm looking forward to it....still hoping that it IS Chris Jericho.

I was watching the videos on youtube as well as the Fozzy song and I was reading the comments there and along with all the posts here the general consensus is that Jericho is coming back and it has now become a matter of "what will his gimmick be?". We will all be eagerly awaiting his return on January 2nd. But then I got to thinking...what if it isn't him? What if WWE is leading us on to throw us off the trail. What if the promo was tailored to appear similar to Fozzy's song? This could be a huge let down.

Do you think that fully expecting Jericho would ruin the return of whoever else it may be? Or do you think it would likely be even greater, since the vast majority will be expecting Jericho?

I think it will be a huge let down considering a lot of us want to see him and have already booked him in many imaginary feuds.

If not Jericho or Taker who would you most LIKE to see return?

I wouldn't mind Batista(who used to be a religious type character) coming back and fighting Mason Ryan.

I'd like to see the return of Golderg, DDP(if healthy) or debut of Sting(since it's not necessarily a return)...

This is what's wrong with todays wrestling crowd. The IWC has killed it and people lose interest. The vignettes are awesome if pulled off right and this started perfectly. No acknowledgement of it on the broadcast, just intrigue. This one is pure fucking genius. It's not like the Taker/Wrestlemania vignette that everyone knew. These ones are thought provoking, cryptic and intriguing. Good stuff..
