Such an awful, awful film. There's exploitation films, and than there's just pure drivel.

Cannibal Holocaust is easily one of the greatest Euro-Trash movies ever made. Ruggero Deodato could have been one of the greats if he had more quality films to his name. Supposedly, a sequel is coming out. Oh, and The Blair Witch Project people should be thanking Deodato for ripping off the concept of his film.

Key word being trash. Alot of Euro Trash is exactly what the name implies: fucking awful. I love awful movies, but Holocaust to me was just a complete waste of time. It had no intentions of doing anything other than just trying to shock the viewer. That's not necessarily a bad thing, but honestly I find the film to be as boring as watching paint dry. Add to that the film looks like it was made for 10 dollars, it's just an awful film. I have no problem with the gore, I've seen much worse, but it's just not a frightening or enjoyable film in any way. It's like watching those awful "Faces of Death" videos. Poorly made and about as enjoyable as a kick to the balls.

I doubt the makers of the Blair Witch Project were intending to rip off Holocaust, I doubt those little *****es have even seen Holocaust :suspic:

I think we'll just agree to disagree on this one. I thought it was a beautifully shot film (Grindhouse really did a great job with the transfer for the film's American DVD release), decently acted, and it had a great score by Riz Ortolani to boot. Sure, it didn't really have any other intention but to shock, but I thought it was a well-made film which really succeeded in what it aimed to do.

Not a fan of Clive Owen, eh? Why not? He was damn good in Children of Men and downright AMAZING in Closer. Have you seen Closer?

I'm a big fan of Clive. Anything I've seen with him, he's been great in. I still have to see The International though, and probably a few others.

Huh, I can't believe I'm just now getting to posting in this thread. I'm glad somebody liked Running Scared as much as me. That movie was epic and Walker turning out to be a cop completely threw me off. As for Clive Owen, I saw a movie of his recently on HBO. It was an action one where he was some type of bad ass that had a distinct liking for carrots and list of things he hate. He also was in love with some hooker while traveling with some baby. I just can't remember the name of it.

You're thinking of Shoot 'Em Up.

Ah thank you, yeah I though it was alright, but the actor who played the bad guy was pretty good. It was Paul Giamatti, I think.

Paul Giamatti is a great fucking actor. Thank god Sideways got him "out there" a bit.

Anyone here seen Gladiator? No, not the one with Russell Crowe, but the boxing movie? Brian Dennehy was fucking great...

Nah, I haven't seen the Brian Dennehy movie, but I've heard great stuff about it might just go see it since you've talked about it. As for Giamatti, that dude is gold; he actually made me give a shit about the John Adams miniseries that and the awesome intro theme.

Dennehy is good in just about anything I've ever seen him in, and that movie was just great. Cuba Gooding Jr has a bit part, and I forget the kid who played the boxer, but he was fucking great too.

X, jmt, someone...Back me up here.

When I get paid Friday, I'm buying Wayne's World on DVD. I used to have it on VHS...when you were able to get it at McDonalds. I literally wore that movie out.

"There goes your girlfriend, Garth. Shyahh."

Hey, xfearbefore, if you don't mind, I'm going to put the thread for each director in my showcase. This will allow people to come in and post their thoughts without being restricted to one director at a time. Also, it will give me the freedom I need to just write about whatever director I feel like writing about on a certain day.

Yeah man sounds good, go right on ahead.

I'm going to go rewatch Dogma. That movie's hilarious and has some good comments on religion.

I'm going to presume you're talking about the remake and not the original. Haven't seen it yet, but it's on my DVR. Paul Anderson is one of the very worst directors in Hollywood, so I don't have much faith that it will be any good. Statham is always fun to watch though.

I had to do something, and didn't make it past far into the movie. From what I saw though, the action was great. Especially when he beats the hell out of about 20 cops. Lol

I'm watching my second favourite film of all time, Second only to Scarface. Tenacious D and the pick of destiny. Seriously this film is so fucking funny, And the songs are all fucking awesome.

My favourite part is when JB is a kid, And starts rocking out at the dinner table in front of his family, Then his dad MEAT LOAF, Spanks his ass with a belt.

So, I'm finally getting the chance to Bong Joon Ho's Mother this weekend. If you don't know who that is, he directed this bad boy:

You talkin' about The Host Norcal? It's GREAT man, one of the absolute best monster movies made in a long time.
