Yep, but you could probably find a dub if you're into that. Dubs are terrible though IMO.

Dammit. Now I remember why I didnt go see it. I hate that shit, it distracts the fuck out of me. I dont so much mind it not being in english, and I dont like having to read the shit, and try to immerse myself into the film at the same time. I still may try to give er a go though.

I watched "War" the other night. Definetly one of the top 5 movies I've ever seen in terms of number of Asians murdered.

I just got back from The Collector. It was all right. If you've seen all the Saws, then it's nothing you haven't seen before. Although, it was much, much better than Dead Silence, the evil ventriloquist doll movie directed by the guy who did the first Saw.

I watched Rachel Getting Married the other day, mostly to see how Anne Hathaway was in an "indy" flick...It was pretty bad. There was about 20 minutes of actual substance, and about 40 minutes of stuff that wasn't needed. No more than 5 minutes needed to be shown of the rehearsal dinner, or the reception, and yet both lasted nearly 25 minutes. I'd give it a 2/10.

I watched Kite Runner today. My girlfriend had been begging me for a few weeks, but I just couldn't do it. I thought it was going to be horrible.

It actually wasn't too bad. The scenes with Amir and Hassan as kids are by far the best, but the rest is also good enough. I'd say it's a solid 7/10.

I find it sad no one ever reads my posts.

jmt, I see you watched this recently...Your thoughts? I saw you gave it a 9/10...A bit high for me, but could be easily justified.

Wow... in my opinion, that's a terrible rating, man. Rachel Getting Married moves slowly at times, but it's a very beautiful, touching, well acted movie. I gave a full review of it here:

I read your post, otherwise I wouldn't be replying to this. :)

Amir really rubbed me the wrong way and I was starting to hate the movie just because of him, but by the end, he totally redeemed himself, in my opinion. The film was really depressing at some points, but overall it was a wonderful movie with an incredible heart. I especially loved the kite scenes, and the scenes between Amir and his father. The guy who played the dad was absolutely incredible. Also, the ending couldn't have been more perfect. Loved it.

The parts you were able to tolerate, were all parts that killed the movie for me. You said yourself that the reception and rehearsal were way too long, and the music drowned out the feel of some scenes. Hathaway was definitely good in this, but the more I watched, the more I felt like I was watching a retelling of Sherrybaby.

Pretty much the same way I feel. I'm hesitant to give it a 9 though. Amir's character (not the "character", but the character of him), jumped around too much for me to understand him. It came together a little more at the end, but not enough for me to think it was brilliant writing. The entire scene where he goes back to Pakistan was great though. Maybe the highlight of him as an adult in the movie.

Has Trojan War been discussed in here yet? The film with Jennifer Love-Hewitt, and Will Friedle, of Boy Meets World fame?

I thought it was a good, borderline great, movie. It was typical teen angst, but slightly more mature than something along the lines of Revenge Of The Nerds, or American Pie...

More mature than Revenge of the Nerds? What could be be more mature than ROTN?!

Greatest movie ever.

I'm trying to decide between seeing Funny People or The Collector later on, I'll probably end up going with Funny People.

Ahhhh. District 9 has 5 reviews of District 9 up, and they all praise the film highly. I'm SO gonna kick off my return to Fayetteville by hitting this film up.

My local dollar theater normally just plays crap that I don't care about at all. This week they've actually got two I want to see: "Year One" and "Drag Me To Hell".

Now, I imagine both of these will not be that great. Popcorn movies all the way, but a dollar a ticket? My fiance and I are going to see both tomorrow afternoon for less than $5. Sorry if either of these have already been talked about, but I haven't seen them yet.

"Year One" looks funny, but it's quite possible that all of the funny parts were in the trailers. Still, I think it's worth a dollar to see it.

"Drag Me To Hell" is another story. PG13????!?!? WTF? Although, most of the reviews I read were positive, as long as you're a "die-hard Raimi Fan"....which I am. Especially the B-movie horror crap. Evil Dead series and Dark Man in particular. Please note that I didn't say the Darkman series, just the first one. Even Spiderman 1 & 2. Especially 2. Three sucked cock with teeth, don't even reply to this if you liked it, because you're fucking WRONG. lol!

Evil Dead 2? Quite possibly my favorite horror/comedy ever (but a close second is Shaun of the Dead). The Evil Dead and Army of Darkness are good too, but it seems to me that Army of Darkness has been shoved down my throat by basic cable, and people who don't see the true greatness that is Evil Dead 2. Naked puppets with chainsaws? ...bring it on.

Looking forward to seeing both of these, and excited to watch them in an empty dollar theater where I can smoke in the back if there's no one else in the theater.

If you're a Raimi fan than you'll absolutely LOVE Drag Me to Hell. The trailers and TV spots make the film look like total and complete shit, but it's such a fun horror film, definitely reminiscent of the Evil Dead sequels. You'll enjoy it.

Watched the Death Race remake earlier. An insult to bad movies everywhere, and further proof that Paul WS Anderson is among the worst directors in Hollywood today. Laughably bad. A few enjoyable explosions/car crashes here and there isn't enough to make this movie anything other than a complete waste of time. Do yourself a favor and seek out the original Death Race 2000 with Sylvester Stallone, it's superior in every way.

Also just got done watching Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem. I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed it. It isn't a very good movie by any stretch of the imagination, but compared to the abortion of a film the first AVP movie was, it's a fucking masterpiece. Cheesy and enjoyable, and they were smart enough to make this film R and include some real gore, unlike the PG-13 cut-away bullshit we saw in the first film. Lots of bit parts by actors I recognize from other horror films and TV shows as well (Rickety fucking Cricket from It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia is in it!). Enjoyable if you like horror films or either the Alien or Predator franchises. Seriously, you'll LOVE it if you hated the first film though, just because of how much better it is. The original film ranks among the worst movies I've ever seen and the biggest movie-going disappointment I've ever experienced in my life. I wanted to set the theater on fire when I finished seeing the original AVP.

Oh yeah it's a piece of shit, I never said it wasn't. But it's an enjoyable piece of shit. I mainly enjoyed it so much because it was the exact opposite of the first AVP film. I cannot describe how fucking much I hate that movie, and just the fact that we saw some gore and didn't see fucking Predators teaming up with humans was enough to make me enjoy the film. Still shit though, yeah.

Both franchises are about to be reinvigorated though. They announced a few days ago that Ridley Scott is going to direct a prequel to Alien, which has me excited as all fuck. And Robert Rodriguez is supposed to be producing a new Predator film (called Predators) which is a reboot.

I liked that the Predators were cast in heroic ways, because ive always thought of them having heroic qualities.

That being said, that girl being all...cool with him, and at the end of the movie it looked like they might fuckin make out...yea, that was very gut wrenching, for a huge predator fan.

I just didnt have a lot of appreciation for all the INSANE shit they did in the second. I found the baby / pregnant lady / fetus / small child mutilations to be a bit much. Its like they were trying to overcompensate for the lack of ass whuppin in the first one.

The Predalien was gangsta though.

The prequel to Aliens sounds really cool. Im unsure about the reboot of Predator though. Im not sure if I have EVER seen a reboot of a succesfull franchise that i ever thought wasnt ghastly. name me one...

I'm sure you're not a Star Trek fan, but the reboot they did this year was fan-fucking-tastic. Better than the majority of the old films.

I don't get bummed out by violence to women or children though, maybe I'll sound like a sick fuck to say this but I actually find shit like that to be great, because it breaks a taboo that you don't normally see broken. When that pregnant chick's belly burst open with the little aliens, I had a huge fuckin' grin on my face. I'm a sick fuck though.

Predalien was badass for sure though.

lol Predators have heroic qualities? What's heroic about hunting and skinning humans?! :lmao:
I get what you're saying though, like how the Predators usually refuse to kill any women. Not exactly heroic, but I guess it's nice of them lol

Well I mean they only fight those who are worthy opponets. If somone is weaker than them, they wont just slaughter it. The whole culture and storyline about Predators is courage and honor.

its probably in the middle of you being a sick fuck and me being...er whatever you want to call me. Im not huge on crazy gore like that, nor am i fan of gratuitous nudity in films either. Just feel it to be very unecessary.

and you know what, ive heard from a shit ton of people that Star Trek was rockin. I forgot Batman, as well. Although im not sure those two films can be called a reboot?

Not a big fan. The first half showed alot of promise, but the second half ruined it for me. I'm a huge Jackson fan but I just wasn't into that movie, at all. The natives on the island were fucking great though.

I see TDigs is viewing this thread. I'm contemplating watching Argento's Mother of Tears, any opinions on it? It's one of the few films left of his I haven't seen yet.

dude. the scene with the natives was beyond badass.

my evaluation

terrible film. AWESOME movie going experience. I was fuckin exhausted leaving the theatre. I felt like I shouldve paid more money to watch that :lmao:

Watched "American Pshyco II: All American Girl" yesterday. Any movie where Mila Kunis kills William Shatner is ok in my book.
