I don't hate JCVD. His stuff entertains me, but I don't think he's a great actor.

Seriously though, Van Damme will always hold a special place in my heart. In fact, have any of you had the pleasure of viewing the film JCVD yet? It truly is a masterpiece. I can admit that most of Van Damme's films are cheesy and stupid, while still loving them, but JCVD is sincerely a tremendous film. I highly, highly recommed it.

I am dying to see it, but it is nowhere to be found in my area...

I too love Michael Pitt, have you seen The Dreamers? That film has quickly risen to probably my top 20, maybe top 15 films ever. Absolutely love that film.

Yes I have! That film is fucking spectacular. The relationships, unpredictability, sex scenes, passion, visuals, realism, music, film references, politics... everything about it is the definition of original. It truly is a one of a kind film.

Exactly my thoughts. After seeing it one night on IFC I immediately bought the film and re-watched it several times. It shot its way high onto my all time favorite lists, just a simply stunning film by Bertolucci, probably his best (yep, that's right, I said it's better then Last Tango in Paris).

I'm pretty sure I've passingly watched a minute or two of that film on TV before, but had something else to do. I just checked my cable box and its on Friday morning and I'm settin' up the recording right now. Buscemi and Pitt is enough of a reason for me to watch a movie.

Aside from their cover of Hey Joe, I haven't really listened to anything they've done. I've heard they're like a post-grunge band, that correct? Post-grunge usually means stuff like Bush though and I'm not big on post-grunge like that at all.

Oh okay, well I'll show you three of my favorite songs from his band. The first video is from the Last Days DVD where Pitt portrayed Kurt Cobain. So, that's probably where most people got the idea that they're post grunge, as this is by far their most popular song. And the other two are from their Self Titled debut album they released in 2006.

I for no real good reason watched The Last Dragon today. I haven't seen that movie in like 15 years so wanted to see if it was as good as I remembered. It wasn't, of course, pretty cheezy 80s movie that it was. But about 20, maybe 25 minutes into the movie bam!...wtf...William H. Macy in a bit part as Vanity's manager! Wow. I never knew he was in that movie, and it had to be before he was well known. Wow.

I have picked too very shitty movies in a row, Balls of Fury and Superbad. I will admit, though, Superbad had me rolling in parts.

Superbad's not a bad movie. I mean, aside from the fact that it was quoted endlessly by everyone I knew for like a year making it ridiculiously annoying, it's still great.

Watched The Strangers last night. Wasn't impressed at all. Few good moments here and there, and the awesome Glenn Howerton had a bit part, but overall just completely un-original and boring. Literally the only things done in this film meant to "scare" you are people in masks jumping infront of the camera alot. That's IT. It's like the director thought that lots of jump-scares was enough to warrant the making of this film. And the lame ass killers? Just...just awul. There was literally only about 1, maybe 2 scenes in the entire film that I enjoyed. The rest of it was nothing but a blatant (and poorly done) Funny Games ripoff without even a hint of the creativity of Games. Avoid it horror fans.

Contemplating throwing on Snatch soon. Love that flick. Which do you guys like better, Snatch or Lock, Stock & Two Smoking Barrels? (Personally I'd go with Lock, but Snatch is amazing as well)

I don't throw around words like abomination lightly, but Wicker Man just about fits the category.

What the fuck was that shit? And I don't get why they made a surprise ending on one side of the disc. They were the same thing.

Did you atleast laugh your ass of at the glory of Nicolas Cage in that film? He probably beats up like a dozen women in that movie. When he runs up in the bear suit and just knocks that one chick THE FUCK OUT I could NOT stop laughing. Rewound that part about 15-20 times, me and my buddies were literally on the floor. Not exagerrating, we were LITERALLY on the floor, ROLLING IN CIRCLES Three Stooges style laughing our asses off. Possibly the funniest scene in the history of movies.

Finishing up Bad Boys right now. I've only seen bits and pieces over the years, this is the first time I've ever actually sat down and watched the entire thing from start to finish. Diggin' it so far, fun little action-comedy.

Watching The Curious Case of Benjamin Button now. To be honest I really don't remember much about it, when I saw it in theaters I was sick as a dog and not really paying attention. I liked what I remember though. Hopefully now that I can devote (most) of my full attention to it I'll enjoy it more.

Well I just finished Benjamin Button and boy am I glad I gave it another viewing. I was completely and totally blown away by the film. For the first hour or so I wasn't sure of how I felt about the film, but about halfway through it once that last hour or so started I was totally sucked in. The love story between Pitt and Blanchett is beautiful, and truly amazing. The entire concept of time and how it relates to love, life, and loss is just unbelievable.

After that closing monologue, I was really touched. Absolutely brilliant, and unless Slumdog blows me out of this world on a whole other level, then Button was robbed. Truly stunning acheivement from Fincher, and I'm going to go ahead and give it the rare (rare for me atleast) full 5 star rating. A masterpiece.

Thoughts for those of you who have seen it? (If I'm not mistaken you really enjoyed it as well JMT? Or am I thinking of someone else?)

Just finished Sniper. Even worse then I remembered but still mildly enjoyable. I love Billy Zane so that's a plus. There's a few moments here and there where the film trys to be a real war drama, but then it just immediately reverts back to cheesy action movie mode.

Would probably be great to watch drunk with some friends. Not exactly a good movie though.

Snatch is a great movie. I have too many friends that love movies like Superbad and Forgetting Sarah Marshall, but hate movies like Snatch. I tell them they need to watch it again, and learn how to laugh at something truly funny. Epic movie.

I rarely ever turn a movie off halfway through, but The Strangers did it for me. I couldn't stand it. Liv's sexiness lasted a little, and then that was it. I didn't see the appeal at all. Made Vacancy look like a classic.

I don't care enough to check the case, but I believe it's Scott Speedman. I agree on the best parts though. I didn't get to where he killed the groom before I turned it off, but when the hooded gys first arrived, it was done pretty well.

Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li​

Overall, its worth renting to check out. If anyone recalls the original Street Fighter movie.. with Raul Julia (I miss him) I don't think this one can top it as far as overall performance. However, I do think that they did a decent job with making Chun-Li look like a complete bad-ass.

Someone said (on the forums, here) that Vega is depicted as some type of Alien. I never picked up on that. But he's played by the Black Eyed Peas - Taboo, so if that says anything.

I was also not a fan of the actor who played Bison this time around as opposed to Raul Julia, but I'll give him credit in saying he did a sub-par job.

But on this note, MCD did an amazing job as Balrog. I loved him in that role.

Yes that was me. It was Will creating a thread criticizing me for giving it such a high rating. But yeah... I loved every second of that movie. Everything you said couldn't have been worded better and more accurate. Speaking of Will, however...

How can you hate The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, yet like one of the worst reviewed films in the history of cinema? Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li is beyond terrible, man. I watched a bootleg and was just blown away at how bad it truly was. Chris Klein was fucking ridiculous, and I loved this guy in Election. And everyone else was awful beyond words. And the action, my God... kill me now. The first Street Fighter had better action, and that movie was really bad, which just blows my mind because it would be so easy to make a good Street Fighter film. In fact, just make a live action version of the Street Fighter 2 Animated movie and there you go... a good film. But Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li is one of the worst movies I've ever seen. However, not the worst.... which brings me back to you xfear.

Funny Games, X, Funny Games. Man I wish you didn't like this movie. I can’t sit here and justifiably say it’s the worst movie of all time, but I can say it’s the biggest disappointment. I've never seen a movie so beautifully shot, WONDERFULLY acted, and with such a potentially great storyline get all thrown away just because of the director's pretentiousness. His ******ed, hypocritical "message" in the film ruined what could've ended up being one of the greatest horror movies of all time. It really pissed me off. And I’m talking about the remake, here. I never saw the original and never will.

Oh, and yeah…. The Strangers was fucking God awful as well, but at least it didn’t shove some horse shit message down our throats. Funny Games may be better overall because of the acting and some of the witty dialogue, but fuck… I just can’t get over what Funny Games represented.

Like Brick, I own ...Benjamin Button, but have taken forever to watch it. I will soon though, perhaps this weekend.

As far as the part I quoted, I have heard this said about the DBZ movie. I never had high hopes for it...I just wanted something to remind me of the cartoon, and the previews are making me stay as far away as possible. I may buy Twilight before I watch that garbage.
