Americans and their love of Snatch, tsk.

It's the only movie starring Jason Statham worth a damn. :iron_razz:

Anyway, just got done watching Tomboy, and it was absolute shit. I mean, it seriously was. But my God... Betsy Russell is smokin' hot. I just might have to say she's the sexiest actress of all time. The only people that keep me from having that full belief are Tiffani Thiessen and Phoebe Cates, but Betsy Russell is right up there with in my eyes.

But yeah... even with her hotness, the movie sucked balls. And I usually love these corny eighties movies that don't make any sense. But this was beyond ******ed in every aspect. Even the music sucked, and I'm a HUGE fan of eighties pops. But out of the 20 or so songs in the film, only 2 I found to be really good.

I still have Cheerleader Camp and Camp Fear, both starring Betsy Russell, that I need to get around to watching. I'm sure they're both worth the sit down and couple of hours worth viewing because of Betsy Russell alone, but hopefully they end up being fun, which Tomboy did not accomplish, at all.

Well Lock Stock & Two Smoking Barrels as well. And while Crank and the Transporter (original) are really shit, they're enjoyable shit. Crank is great I thought, obviously not going to be winning any Oscars any time soon, but it's just such a ridiculious series of events one after another that you have to enjoy the ride.

Not big on Snatch Jake?

Cheerleader Camp is fun if you like awful 80's slasher films. Personally I fucking adore 80s slasher films (Ever seen The Prowler, or The Burning? Or the Sleepaway Camp films?)

Haven't seen Camp Fear, at first I was about to respond thinking you had written CAPE Fear, lol.

Not big on Funny Games eh JMT? You really should check out the original. I enjoyed the original much more then I did the remake.

Oh yeah Transporter 3 is one of the worst movies I've ever had the displeasure of watching, EVER. Just pointless nonsense followed by more pointless nonsense. I only watched it because my buddy forced me to because he loves the worst actions films ever, ever made.

The original is a guilty pleasure though.

My friend and I went to see it because we wanted to see a movie that day, but nothing else was there except for Twilight and Changling(I wanted to see this).

It's soooo fucking misleading. The girl never holds guns and that stupid tear thing happened for five minutes at the end. We thought she was going to be a bad guy.

It was so fucking stupid.

I'm completely with you on that one

(Ever seen The Prowler, or The Burning? Or the Sleepaway Camp films?)

I've the all the Sleepaway Camp movies, and absolutely love them. #1 scared the living crap out of me, while the other 2 were just hilarious beyond belief, but also contained some of the coolest kill scenes ever. And I saw The Burning years ago, and remember liking it, but I need to watch it again. I've never seen The Prowler, though.

Well I'll let you know what I think after I watch it. The description makes it sound awesome.

Four sorority sisters take a camping trip with their college professor to find ancient Indian artifacts. Along the way, the group is terrorized by a motorcycle gang, the Loch Ness Monster, and a Druid priest looking for three young girls to sacrifice to stop the impending apocalypse at the start of the new millennium.

Definately track down copies (or you could probably find both online) of The Prowler and The Burning. Two of the best 80s slasher films made, the gore in The Prowler is crazy even for a slasher flick and is Tom Savini's best FX work hands down (he calls it his "masterpiece of splatter").

Sleepaway Camp 2 is probably my favorite slasher film. It's just so ridiculiously hilariously gorey that you can't help but immediately love it. One of my favorite horror trilogies ever.

Please do, I love to hear about slasher flicks I haven't seen yet, and I've seen probably almost hundreds of them.

Slasher films are the shit. My favorite horror subgenre. They're never actually frightening (though that weird dream/singing sequence in Sleepaway Camp 2 gives me the creeps) but they're the most enjoyable. Whats to love more then tits, gore, and promiscuous teenage drug use? Nothing, that's what.

EDIT: Just started watching Carlito's Way. Haven't seen it in years, but I remember liking it. Pacino and Penn equals greatness by default I'm pretty sure. Plus Penn's Jewfro is just EPIC in this film.

I might pop in one of my favorites this afternoon.

possible picks include: Raging Bull, Machinist, and Southland Tales

I want a good time as well, so ST is winning in my mind.

Could anyone have done Boxer Santaros better than the Rock? I don't get why people hate on him for the role.

Because they clearly don't understand the point of the film, or that role specifically. People criticize it for being superficial...HELLO!!! THAT'S KIND OF THE POINT!

Just finished Carlito's Way. I forgot how great the film is, amazing acting from everyone involved and several great small roles from guys like Luis Guzman, Viggo Mortensen, John Leguizamo, and the AWESOME Adrian Pasdar among others. GOD you really just HATE Leguizamo's character Benny Blanco so much in this film. I wanted to strangle that son of a bitch to death (Guzman too at the end). I'll never understand Brian De Palma. On one hand he can make brilliant stuff like this, and then turn around and make utter trash like the Black Dahlia.

Man Pacino and Penn were brilliant though. Hard to pick who was better, they were both so amazing. That look in Penn's eyes when he kills the mob boss and his son...it's fucking frightening.

Great flick, gotta add it to the collection sometime soon. Hadn't seen it since I was 12 I think.

Just finished watching Steven Soderbergh's Solaris remake. Though technically it really isn't a remake of the original Russian film, but more a different take on the original novel. I was blown away. Amazing performances by everyone involved (GOD I love Jeremy Davies, he can do NOTHING wrong) and a simply stunning film from start to finish.

This is what makes a good Sci-Fi film, not spaceship battles and "Ohhh look how big space iz!" visuals. The score was very good as well. Overall just a great, great film.

And I'm starting to change my mind a bit on Benjamin Button. I still really, really, really liked it but I've downgraded it from a perfect score to a 4.5/5. Simply because I think of other films I've rated a full 5 like Network or Dog Day Afternoon, and it doesn't quite stack up to that level of greatness upon second thought. Still really loved it though.

Ever seen Solaris JMT? Murf? Anyone? Sci-Fi at it's best.

No, I haven't. I have to admit to you man that Sci-Fi is by far my least favorite genre. Pretty much ANYTHING dealing with outer space type of stuff, I do not like. They Live is literally the only Sci-Fi film that comes to mind that I truly loved. Star Wars, Star Trek, 2001: A Space Odyssey, Alien, ect... I hate all that shit.

Yeah, it's hard to give any film a perfect rating. Right after viewing it when you're blown away, it makes you feel it's perfect, but the more you think about it, your love for it doesn't decrease, but it does get make you compare it to your all time favorites and more times than not, it doesn't hold up. But still... Benjamin Button was awesome and my 3rd favorite film of 2008. It'll hold up for years and years to come.

And you know, I've never seen Network. If you give it a 5/5, then I just might need to go pick up the DVD next week.

Really? Man that's too bad, I'm a huge sci-fi geek. I prefer really intelligent and thought provoking sci-fi though like Solaris as opposed to stuff like Star Wars though (though I do LOVE me some Wars and Trek)

Yeah I noticed that as well. Right after watching Button I thought it was a masterpiece. Now I'm thinking its really, REALLY good, but not a masterpiece.

And you know, I've never seen Network. If you give it a 5/5, then I just might need to go pick up the DVD next week.

Get on that ASAP. Peter Finch's performance in that film is the stuff of legends man. Truly a dark comedy/drama at its very best, some of Lumet's best work. You'll laugh, and then you'll stop and think about the influence the media has on our lives for an hour. It's crazy good.

I'm watching the totally awful slasher film Valentine right now. Remember that one? Came out in 2001? With David Boreanz and Denise Richards among others. I remember seeing this in theaters with my dad and thinking it was awesome. Haven't seen it in years but I'm sure it's fucking terrible. Oh well, I love terrible slasher films of all ages and times. Plus it has Katherine Heigl in one of her first roles and she gets killed in the first 10 minutes, funny stuff. I'm on a movie-watching binge the last few days trying to clean out my DVR.

Outside of Wild Things and Nowhere (which is fucking fantastic; Gregg Araki is such a phenomenal director), I don't think I've seen any other Denise Richards films, including Valentine. That shit just looked ******ed to me, even though I do love Marley Shelton.

The Hangover was pretty hilarious, wasn't a fan of the new Terminator. I've read the new Transformers was shitty though.

So, tonight, I think I'm going to watch either Slaughterhouse Rock, The Outing, or Spookies (damn, low-budget horror from the late 80s rocked). I think I deserve to watch a little junk after having to sit through two Hsiao-hsien Hou films this week.

This movie fucked with my mind. I knew I had this movie figured out...I was laughing at my friends that told me I was wrong...And, then. Major fail. I was so wrong...

It's an epic movie. I just boguht it recently, but I plan on watching it again soon now...

If you like The Machinist you should REALLY check out Brad Anderson's earlier film, Session 9. One of my favorite horror films, creepy in so many different ways. Go watch it ASAP.

Valentine was awful trash just like I expected but was slightly enjoyable.

Thinking I should FINALLY put on Slither after saying I would for the last like 4 days.

I've decided to start my own movie review thread in the general Movies and Television section guys, go check it out and let me know what you think!

Considering how often I post in this thread, I might as well start my own review thread I thought. I've been meaning to make some kind of thread that I can frequently update, have my own little signature thing.

But yeah, got done with Slither, great shit. Really fun film, this and Feast would make a GREAT late night double feature.

I had considered doing this as well, but wasn't sure if it would be allowed, and I don't know nearly as much as you guys (XFear, Murf, jmt, tdigs).

I'm currently watching POTC:2. I think the whole series is pretty good, and rather entertaining. And, Keira is extremely hot.

It's a good thread, sell out.
