Bullshit about Movies

I may have to start using Netflix. Blockbuster doesn't have a great selection, even online. They have some funny exclusives, but that's about it.

Definitely get your hands on Suspiria, ASAP. Fucking masterpiece that is.

Just finished watching Them (Ils). Probably could have paid more attention if someone didn't have their hand in my pants. I liked what I saw though. Very good stuff, everything that that piece of shit The Strangers attempted to do, Them does CORRECTLY. Well, well done.

Anyone seen Them (Ils)?

Glad to see someone else hated The Strangers.

But no, I've never seen Them (Ils). After reading that review though, I just might have to.

I'm sure Tdigs has seen it. What'd you think of it T?

Yeah see JMT, I told you I'd post a new review! It was a bit short, but, oh well. I really enjoyed it, very much worth your time JMT. The main actress, Olivia Bonamy, may just have come to Earth directly from Heaven. She's so stunningly beautiful I was simply in awe, and she's extremely talented. I'll need to check out more of her stuff.

Should be seeing Inglorious Basterds FINALLY either tomorrow or Wednesday.

Random, non movie related question JMT...what's one of your favorite matches? Favorite ROH mach? Favorite ladder match? I'm bored and feel like watching some shit.

My favorite match of all time is Dreamer vs. Raven at Wrestlepalooza 1997. I also love RVD vs. Lynn from Living Dangerously 1999, Angle vs. Benoit from The Royal Rumble 2003, and Samoa Joe vs. AJ Styles from Sacrifice 2005.

My favorite ROH match is a tie between Punk vs. Joe 3 from All Star Extravaganza 2 and Danielson vs. 'Cide from Final Battle 2006. Raven vs. Punk (Death Before Dishonor), Joe vs. Kobashi, Styles vs. London (Night of Grudges), Styles vs. Danielson 1 (Main Event Spectacles), Danielson vs. Alex Shelly (Arena Warfare) and Danielson vs. Jimmy Rave (4th Anniversary Show) are some of my other favorites. If I started rambling off Briscoes matches, I'd be here forever, but if you're ever looking for a fun match, watch anything with them.

You'll get plenty more of my ROH taste once Harthon gets off his lazy ass and continues his ROH year in review threads.

Just saw Audition again, and I still think it's a big piece of shit. Expect an entry to be done for Audition tomorrow in the Showcase, so, save your responses for what I've said here so you can get credit for it tomorrow. I just found out though that it was based off a Ryu Murakami book...interesting. If you haven't read In The Miso Soup yet, get your ass a copy...one of the best Japanese books I've ever read (that's not really saying much though on my part, Haruki Murakami's the man, but I think Kenzaburo Oe's overrated as fuck...there are other important Japanese writers, but I can't think of them at the moment, whoever wrote The Sea Of Fertility and Rashomon, those are important Japanese writers too, in fact, if someone can tell me who those writers are, I'd appreciate it).

You're insane TDigs. Audition is great. Miike's second best work behind Ichi.

So, did you ever get a chance to watch those Hanaeke movies? You won't my feelings if you didn't like them...his films aren't for everyone.

I actually answered this yesterday and I think you missed my post, lol. Here's what I said:

"No, but I don't know why though. I have them sitting right there. I'll definitely watch them by the time the Haneke Showcase comes so I can add my thoughts."

I'm actually kind of afraid to watch Cache because the disc is scratched pretty badly and I'm going to be pissed if I get pulled in, and the film starts fucking up right in the middle of it or at the end. But The Piano Teacher is in perfect shape.

And I got Read My Lips today in the mail. I'm excited for that one.

Man Tdigs, I was about to pop in the Piano Teacher earlier, but I couldn't resist Read My Lips. It just looked too good of a film not to watch then and there. And I'm glad I did because it was fantastic. Thank you for recommending it. I plan on giving a full review in the Movies Section later today/tonight.

But Tdigs, quick question, have you seen any of these two films and if so... do you recommend them?

The Beat That My Heart Skipped
Sheitan

The Beat My Heart Skipped is awesome. I love Sheitan, but it's an extremely strange film. Vince Cassel is great in it (but, seriously, what isn't he great in?), and Roxane Mesquida is so freakin' sexy...this is a tough one. It was on IFC a while ago, so, maybe it's still on there. I'd have to know how you liked other French horror films such as Martyrs and Inside before I could give you an honest recommendation.

I'll have to get my hands on Read My Lips after reading your review JMT, good stuff.

Sheitan is great, by the way. Definitely worth your time.

Watched Switchblade Romance (Haute Tenision/ High Tension) last night, wasn't too impressed with it, so many plot holes, it was enjoyable enough though, just don't expect too much from it.

I enjoyed Haute Tension. If you can deal with the insanely illogical ending it ranks among the best slasher films released in years. I very much enjoyed Haute Tension, though I did believe it was a bit overhyped and overrated.

The Hills Have Eyes remake was great. Well, the first half or so was great. Second half was a bit weak. Aja really retained that shock value that Craven brought to the original with his remake though, he was brutal and didn't pander to anyone. Enjoyed that film.

Mirrors unfortunately was one of the absolute worst films I've seen in years, outside of one very cool scene. Have you seen this heap of trash TDigs?

Actually hadn't even read a review before watching it so went into it not knowing what to expect, needless to say it was simply a gory slasher which you could enjoy if you don't get too into it.

I quite like Hills Have Eyes, but still doesn't match up to Wrong Turn for me, god I loved that film.

Mirrors was so-so. I'd give it a 4 out of 10. I'm looking forward to whatever Aja comes with next. Also, I'm looking forward to Xavier Gens' new project, although I'm not sure when that's coming out.

Me too. He's got talent.

Who knows. Still almost nothing about Vanikoro. Looking forward to his future as well though. As you said a few months ago TDigs, France really is the epicenter of horror right now.

Speaking of French horror, have you ever seen Them (Ils)?

Yeah, it's shit. Not gory (major points lost), and not even that scary. The Descent and even Frontiere(s) did a much better job of depicting blood-thirsty subterranean humanoids on a rampage.
