Bullshit about Movies

A friend won't shut up about wanting to see Inglorious Basterds, so I'm going to check out that bad boy with her around midnight. I'll probably tell you how it is briefly, like I always do.

So, Inglorious Basterds and District 9 are on my "To See In Theaters" list. Any others I should add on there?

IB is great. I was never a huge fan of his other work. I liked it, but thought it was over hyped. This didn't have enough time to get hype for me, so I was able to enjoy it more.

I told ye JMT! I told ye!

You sure did, and I owe you a thank you. ;)

I thought seeing such a tremendous film like Inglourious Basterds yesterday was going to hurt seeing District 9 the very next day, but it didn't. Very good movie. It's not Inglourious Basterds good, but for a sci-fi film, it's fucking fantastic.

I also watched two other films the past couple of days, and I'm killing myself trying to think of which, lol. One was Eagle Eye. The most unrealistic movie in history. God it was ridiculous. From what I read, Spielberg developed the script in the nineties with the thought of it being a sci-fi film set in the seventies, and really... that's the way they should have of gone. Instead, they went with the cell phones of today are evil and we should all be paranoid route. Also, Rosario Dawson was such a terrible choice as her role. Who was the moron who cast her? Seriously, the only time she's watchable is when he boobs are out, and they weren't in this movie. Hopefully, Shia LaBeouf can start picking some better roles in the future. There's too much talent there going to waist.

And MOTHERFUCKER WHAT THE FUCK WAS THE OTHER MOVIE?!?!?!? God it's killing me. I don't remember it sucking, so I don't know why I'm having such a hard time remembering.

Anyway, Tdigs... I picked up Read My Lips on Amazon, along with L'Apartment. I'll make sure to let you and everyone else know how I feel about those along with the Tyson doc sometime next week if they all arrive in the mail soon enough. Maybe I'll even hit up the Movie Review thread, which I've been lazy about (though I'm not the only one, huh X? :icon_razz: ).

You are welcome. See, even someone like you who doesn't like Sci-Fi liked it. It's such a brilliant film, if the world were a just place it would be nominated for several Oscars. But the academy hates Sci-Fi, so it's doubtful. Such a great film, the best I've seen this year, though I haven't gotten around to seeing Inglorious Basterds yet. So far all I've heard from people is that it's a damn masterpiece, so as if I wasn't excited as fuck to see it already, now I REALLY need to. I'll likely see it tomorrow night.

Yeah, Eagle Eye is among the worst movies of recent years. Did you read my review of the film in my review thread? Brought up a lot of the same points you just did. Fucking TERRIBLE movie.

Haha yeah fuck am I lazy right? Shit, okay JMT, just for you, I'm going to go update that shit RIGHT NOW. I've watched like 80 movies since my last review, so I'll have plenty to choose from. Probably just post another District 9 review honestly. Loved that film to pieces.

Anyone else interested in Zombieland? Looks like the kind of movie that would be FUN as hell to go see on a Friday night drunk with a few buds.

I wouldn't rank it over Inglorious Basterds or (500) Days of Summer, but that's just strictly personal preference; it doesn't take anything away from this movie. So far it's definitely my third favorite movie this year, though you know... the Oscar films don't come out 'til December, and H2 comes out next week, and I also need to watch the Tyson doc. There's also Jennifer's Body. Damn... I thought 2008 was a good year for film (2007 sucked ass for the most part), but 2009 is turning out to be just as superb.

Though, I am upset they pushed back Shutter Island to February for whatever ******ed reason. That was originally slated for an October released. Damn those fucking studios piss me off, man. I GUARANTEE there's nothing wrong with that movie that validates pushing it back three/four more months. Fucking ridiculous, and completely takes it out of Oscar contention.

Yeah I remember reading it when you first posted it. When you bump your thread, I'll glance over it again though.

I actually didn't hear anything about it, but I just looked it up... the trailer was fucking AWESOME. It looks like an American version of Shaun of the Dead, only except it could very well be better. And Jesus Christ what a cast, huh? Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg (who was great in The Squid and the Whale and Adventureland), the girl from Superbad, the girl from Little Miss Sunshine, Amber Heard, and even Bill fucking Murray makes a cameo. I'm definitely seeing this.

You see the Haneke films yet?

No, but I don't know why though. I have them sitting right there. I'll definitely watch them by the time the Haneke Showcase comes so I can add to my thoughts.

Fuck yes! Zombieland looks like fun on a bun! Saw the trailer when I went to see D9. The audience was roaring.

Am I going to see IB now? Shit yeah I am!

I wouldn't put D9 over IB or 500 either.

Saw Big Man Japan last night. Two things: it was awesome, what the fuck?

Watching The Game today.

And MOTHERFUCKER WHAT THE FUCK WAS THE OTHER MOVIE?!?!?!? God it's killing me. I don't remember it sucking, so I don't know why I'm having such a hard time remembering.

The movie I was talking about here was Election. Not that it was my first time seeing it, just first time in a couple of years. Great, great, GREAT fucking movie. Hilarious and just creative as hell.

Haha nice JMT, I fucking love Election. Such a great film, Alexander Payne is a great filmmaker.

Watched a documentary by the name of American Drug War earlier. Very, very good. I recommend it to anyone with a passing interest in what's really going on with the American drug war.

Plus you get to see Joe Rogan take a hit from a pipe, blow the smoke to the camera and say "Hi NBC!", which is worth watching this movie for that alone.

Hostel II was much better than the original. I actually enjoyed Hostel II quite a bit.

There was quite a bit more going on in that film than just tits and blood TDigs. A whole lot more.

What? Like Dawn Weiner and the girl with the nice bush, Bijou Phillips? It had Edwidge Fenech in it, and that's cool, if you like old Eurosleaze, but, besides that, the movie blew. Greg McLean and Alexandre Aja FTW. Eli Roth? Not so much.

Aja? Please. The definition of a one-hit wonder. Did you see that piece of dirt Mirrors? Or P2? Christ Aja is overrated.

McLean? Good stuff. I'd take Cabin Fever over Wolf Creek or Rogue though.

There's definitely more to Hostel II than simply blood. What about the journey of the two American businessmen? There are certainly deeper things going on in that film than just torture-porn. It's certainly leaps and bounds above any of the Saw sequels.

Plus, the guy is torn apart by motherfuckin' dogs!!!

I have to agree with Tdigs on this one. Hostel 2 was terrible. Absolutely terrible. Though it was cool to see the little girl from Welcome to the Dollhouse again.

Unbreakable was on this morning and I decided to turn it on after seeing Tarantino's top 20 list the other day. I hadn't watched it since it first came out, so I pretty much forgotten nearly everything about it. Good movie. Not as good as Tarantino put it over, but still a good movie nevertheless.

Does Netflix have a better collection than Blockbuster. There have been a lot of movies that I can't get at BB.
