Bullshit about Movies

I've thoroughly enjoyed your showcase thus far TDigs. The format is fine. I'm just at a loss for what to say about Argento that you haven't already mentioned.

Should we do some Takashi Miike next then? Did you like Audition? I hated it. Maybe you can give a dissenting opinion...I'll start working on the review.

I'll read it, but I'm not very knowledgeable when it comes to foreign film and older film.

If I think I have something really good to input, I'll make a non-spam post of it.

I'll put up some Michael Mann for you soon. And some Brian De Palma once I get some Takashi Miike for Jake.

Watched Malena yesterday. Great fucking movie. However, I was upset to hear there was an Uncut version of it and the copy I had wasn't it. Found a cheap copy on Ebay though and ordered it. From what I understand, there's like 13 minutes of extra footage on that. Why the fuck did Miramax cut that shit from the American DVD release? Pisses me off.

Also watched Frozen River today, and fuck... I did not expect this to live up to the hype, but boy did it ever. Fantastic film. It had me nervous as shit. The suspense and acting in that movie was just incredible. I highly recommend it for those who haven't seen it.

Well, I guess I'll be sending you Cinema Paradiso then.

Never saw it...but, Vince Cassel is my favorite actor besides Daniel Auteuil, so I'll have to check it out. I definitely recommend that you check out this bad boy when it comes out on US DVD:

Sweet... what's it about?

Anything from Vince Cassel you recommend, Tdigs? I like him a lot as well.

Most definitely, unless it's a period piece...those tend to suck. There's also some movie for which the lead actress won a Cesar that I would recommend renting instead of buying, although it's a good film...I'll have to look it up...it's called Read My Lips.

Mesrine is a two-parter, and it's about the eponymous French criminal who managed to escape from prison twice. If there's one Cassel film that you absolutely have to see though, it's La Haine...that movie's so damn good.

Just looked up La Haine and Read My Lips, and both look like movies I'd really enjoy. I'll look into getting them around the end of September for sure.

And I'll definitely look out for Mesrine when it's released as well.

Thanks.

Did anybody see The House Bunny?I thought it was going to be awful,so I used it as my sleep movie on Starz, and I thought it was okay. Not as bad as you'd think.

I really like Anna Faris, but I'll most likely never watch that. Just seems too much like 'Legally Blond' to me, and I hated those movies, even as a big time Reese Witherspoon fan.

But I will see Observe and Report when it's released on DVD. I don't care about the shitty reviews. Anything with Seth Rogan immediately gets added to the DVD Collection.

Don't believe the shitty reviews JMT, if you enjoy the work that Jody Hill has already done (Have you seen Eastbound & Down?) and his particular brand of twisted humor, you'll love it. I thought the movie was hilarious from start to finish, very unique film.

Damnit JMT, go see District 9 brother.

No, I've never watch Eastbound & Down, though I need to. Danny McBride is a funny motherfucker.

Even as someone who doesn't like Sci-Fi or Alien movies, you really think I'd enjoy this? It's THAT unique and different?

I have to admit though, when you said, "So many things are touched on in this film; racism, apartheid, immigration, globalization, capitalism, private military, the Holocaust, Unit 731, this movie is a smorgasbord of depth.", that did raise my interest in seeing it a tad bit.

Oh yeah man shit my mother went to go see the movie and she hates anything horror/Sci-Fi and she told me she absolutely loved it. The film is really just a giant allegory for apartheid, it's an incredibly complex film. Even if you don't enjoy alien films or Sci-Fi films, it'd be hard for me to imagine that you wouldn't absolutely love this flick considering how similar our taste in movies is.

Give it a shot man, it's well worth it. And definitely try and give Eastbound & Down a viewing as well, Danny McBride is the epitome of hilarious in that show, I can't wait for the second season. Great, great show.

Alright, man. You convinced me. Your mom is a fan of the Friday Night Lights television show if I remember correctly, so I trust her taste.

This Friday or Saturday, I'll go check it out.

I also plan on seeing H2 opening weekend as well. I'm actually a lot more pumped for it then I originally thought I'd be. But from the TV spots, to the shit I've read, I have some pretty high expectations for it now. Hopefully it lives up to them.

Haha yep my mom is the one who loves Friday Night Lights, she's a smart gal, we used to go to the movies on a weekly basis together.

I anxiously await to hear your thoughts on it bro.

I'm damn excited for H2 as well, I'll be meeting up with a large group of other Halloween fans from the OHMB (Official Halloween Message Board) to go see it, can't wait. I'm not sure how it's going to turn out though; on one hand I think it will be better than the first, but on the other there are small things here and there in the trailers and TV spots that have me groaning (why the FUCK is your wife in ANOTHER movie Rob? Seriously?).

I'm a huge Halloween mark, so you know I'll let you know what I think opening night brotha.

Saw it. Loved it. My dad hated it with the usual "shakey cam work" hating. It's his thing.

I love how the one alien is like "This isn't legal." when they're trying to get him to sign the papers. :lmao:

No doubt. I almost passed too as I've been pretty let down by a lot of movies this summer, but this was well worth the ticket.

Okay, we are talking about movies. So, I wonder if anyone can help me?

I have come up for a couple of movie ideas. I won't say what they are, lest they get stolen. But, as I live in Australia, how do I pitch my movie ideas to Hollywood. I could pitch them to an Australian studio, but they may not have the budget necessary, as I have an idea for a superhero movie, and for a thriller.

How would I go pitching these ideas? What would I have to do, to get my ideas out there? Even if I sell the ideas to a studio to produce it, how would I even get my foot in the door?

Unfortunately, you can't just have ideas. You need a full script.

Once you have one, find an agency around your area. Set up a meeting, show them one of your scripts and express your ideas for the future. If they like what they hear, then they take you and your stuff and pitch it to studio companies and the like.

That's really the only way I know of, of having a chance to make it without knowing anyone famous. It's either that, or save up, and make your own movie and hope for the best.

I'll be working on the rest of the Director's Showcase on piecemeal basis. I got the approval from Slyfox696 to do so, so that's what's what right now. All showcase will be done by the end of September before I leave for England.

Just finished watching "The Quiet" starring Elisha Cuthbert and Camilla Belle. Thought it was a very good movie. Not a great movie, but I enjoyed watching it. Went a little deep with the father-daughter incest thing, but nonetheless I give the movie a 7/10.

It was okay. The ending sort of ruined it though. It was completely unrealistic and ridiculous. I hate it when a movie pulls you in, just to smack you across the face at the end. WWE does that all the times with most of their television matches.

Yeah The Quiet was decent. It's a B-Movie at best, but anything with Elisha Cuthbert pretty much sucks me in, she's too damn cute. Not really a "good" movie though.

I'm contemplating watching sex, lies, and videotape. It's been awhile since I've seen it. Fan of Soderbergh JMT?
