Bar Room Rep

But still, rep means nothing. This is according to the mods. It should mean something, but it doesn't.

Tasty Cakes made that list, and I'm not impressed. I'm impressed by the work he did, but how much was bar rep and how much non spam? That is where I would be impressed. If someone got to eleven bars all in non spam posting, then his rep would mean a shit load.

I think eliminating rep or leaving it as it is are the best options. Who wants to do that much work, first, and second, is it that big of a deal?

I cannot say, but I think the ratio would be similar for most posters except the people who only post in here, and true greats like NoFate who got most of theirs from wrestling.

I estimate mine to be around 50-50, but mostly because I get a lot of rep from low rep scorers in the bar room and a little bit of rep from heroes of the forum in the wrestling section. Of my last 10, none are for wrestling, but 2 are non spam. This is because I'm away from Sky so can't watch wrestling until tuesday, thus meaning that I have only been posting NWS this week.

Because he was kidding. And once again, an example of abusing rep. The longer this thread goes, the more in favor of doing away with it seems to work for me.

It will closer to the true meaning of reputation. You will know greatness when you see it, not when little green boxes tell you it's there.

Here's my take on it. Let's say that tomorrow all rep is set to zero or 5 or whatever. Are you telling me that no one is going to know who the top posters are? The current system doesn't work because unless you actually look into it, someone like Sam is on equal footing with someone like TM, simply based on bar room for the most part. That's not right in the slightest.

I repped you to put you in red. I'm an asshole like that. Sorry, I'll green you at some point.

But seriously, I'd be fine with or without rep. The only thing it really helps is showing who's a regular and who are new posters. It doesn't matter how good a poster you are. If you've been here long enough you have full rep.

Oh, yeah...I forgot to say. There's some way that you can zero out your rep but still have your rep worth what it would be had it not been zeroed out. Jake's rep is worth about 90 points.

That was a sweet thing to do. You truly are the badass with a heart of gold that the Rock plays in every fucking movie.

The Rock's movies are based on NorCal's life.

Tell me, how did you feel when the prison team you coached beat the private school kids? Was it more exhilarating than when you nearly bombed LA in Get Smart?

Well I cut my teeth rep wise in the Bar Room I'm not going to lie, but lately I've been receiving rep from other parts of the forum. So for me, I don't care either way, the Bar Room is just about random shit anyways, so if I get rep for it or I don't, I'm fine either way. If you make a witty comment that makes people laugh, or you make a solid argument etc., I think if you receive rep it's alright. However repping people just for the hell of it is where the issue is at I believe.

So my opinion is, I really don't have one, do what you will, I'm going to go try scrounge for a decent topic to post in in the wrestling sections, either that or start research into a topic I want to start in the music section.

I was sorta thinking about this earlier. itd be sort of like the ratings system on Madden...

i wouldnt mind if it was done like that. but the problem is that people will get confused, but if it could get made/altered so that everyone comprehends it I think it might have a chance to work.

Oh and let me add this in real quick, when I did receive the rep I did from the Bar Room, I wasn't going out actively seeking it, and it wasn't my choice on who gave me rep. The people that did had quite a bit of rep so my number jumped up very quickly. I apologize to anyone who is offended that I have so much rep so quickly, and if the mods have an issue with it, drop it down for all I care.

:lmao: FTS, you are ridiculous :lmao:

Lol. Thanks Norcal.

Now to actually answer the question... ... ... for the love of God do it. In an ideal world I suppose a system where bar room posts could still be repped, but that rep counted for nothing, would be nice; but chiefly I'd just like to see the spam rep brought under control.

Obviously, I have a vested interest here, given that the vast majority of my rep is for wrestling posts (and for the e-fed in recent months) but I think that there are plenty of other legitimate argument for making the change.

thats another one.

getting sigged is the REAL rep. people loved what you said so much, that its what they want to convey to others about themselves, when others read their posts

Meh.

I got 8 or 9 bars posting wrestling then came in here and got the rest. Rep doesn't really bother me.

I hardly ever post in the Bar Room, so I honestly don't care one way or another, but shouldn't the clocks and avatars be more of a concern then whether or not someone can rep in a spam zone? The fact that the clocks are so screwed up and that avatars are so limited, that makes the forum look bad. Getting rep in the Bar Room doesn't, because no one but regulars pay attention to rep anyway.

The staff is looking into something with Crave and the "bosses" to disable rep in the Bar Room. Some members have taken advantage of it with "rep ****ing" without ever really earning it. Apparently, some are even making really pathetic "Backstage Deals" to form a small separatist party that exists for the purpose of rep ****ing...

Omgosh.

:lmao:

Agreed. I would think forum clocks and avatars would be a bigger problem to address then rep.
