Anime/Manga Discussion

Abridged series', when done right, can be absolutely fantastic. DBZ and Yu-Gi-Oh Abridged are of course the classics, but I found the Attack on Titan Abridged to be very funny, and the Gundam 00 Abridged episode "Cereal Killers" always makes me laugh. There was a damn good "Gravitation Abridged" series I once saw but unfortunately it seems to have been hit by a copyright violation by "Remove Your Media LLC". Haha, wow.

I have been rewatching DBZ Abridged again.

It really is great fun and you gotta love all the picking up on faults in the story.

I thought the handling of Cell so far had been done rather tremendously. He's not ripped to shreds for shits and giggles, but rather been treated as a legit scary threat and as someone who was scared shitless by most of the android storyline (from Trunks through Cell) as a child, that's fantastic. That "Mr. Sandman" bit at the end of the last episode was brilliant.

Oh and the latest "movie" was quite terrific especially with the "Freeza did it" jokes.

The whole third season has been tremendous. Leaps and bounds better than season 2 which was great too.

You can see where that "dodge" joke is leading.

The whole "Namek-a-Mania" episode was very enjoyable too. Burter and the Space Aussie's commentary was truly the greatest in the history of our sport.

Piccolo's commenting on the gimmicks of the henchmen is always. His entire arrival on the scene during Lord Slug complete with Stone Cold entrance and Bret Hart style scoring of the "pretty one" is tremendous.

"I can spawn mini-mes!"

I did.... So why is Kirito now some secret agent guy? Did I miss something from before that turned him into James Bond? :p
I think I'll keep watching it but It's gonna be on some mighty thin ice with the lack of spare time I have.

Where did you see the episode? Also, Sailor Moon Crystal premiered on Hulu+. It's the first episode so it's identical to the first from the manga. Except for a rather expensive looking CGI sequence. Why the hell is it in CGI?

Dunno. My guess is that TOEI has tons of money to blow on the budget, so I guess they said "fuck it." I thought the CGI looked good. The series as a whole has grossed over $18 billion dollars already. And they'll probably make another killing with these new releases.

Extra Edition sets it up. He tells the guy in the glasses story of the entire first season.

KJ, I basically googled "watch episode 1 of Sword Art Online II" then a bunch of links came up. Also, what animes should I watch guys? If you go a few pages back, these are the ankles I've seen: Sword Art Online, Naruto, One Piece, Bleach, Fairy Tail, Code Geass, Death Note. Out of those, I've only completed SAO, Code Geass, and Death Note. I wish I didn't stop watching the big 4 but the fillers were just too much but the mangas were damn good.

OK. Saw it. Pretty interesting stuff.

Soul Eater is a must. And so is Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood. The 2003 version is good but FMA:B blows it away. Both are far better than the Big 4. Ah, and Attack On Titan is pretty damn good too.

I have placed Kill La Kill on my list. But I'm debating whether to watch Gurren Lagann first.

EDIT: One Piece is better than FMA:B IMO. In fact I think it surpasses the original Dragon Ball. Doesn't change the fact that FMA is really good though.

I've seen Soul Eater but haven't finished it. I forgot about that one. Same with Attack on Titan. I've heard that when I watch Fullmetal Alchemist, I should watch the dubbed version cause it's better than the square
subbed version.

Gurren Lagann. I honestly have not been able to stomach Kill La Kill. It's just weird and forcing "fanservice" on your face.

I absolutely loved FMA:B. It wraps the story so perfectly. I honestly just do not get the appeal of One Piece. It doesn't peak my interest and much like Naruto, it does not wanna fucking end and just stretches on and on.

One Piece is the Hulk Hogan of anime and manga. Like literally.

Naruto is ending soon. I can't see it running more than another year. Maybe not even that. I give it 50 chapters. Give or take. According to lore One Piece is only half over with 700+ chapters and 600+ episodes. Half done. But One Piece is written better than Naruto.

I watched FMA and FMA:B together. Same with Hellsing and Hellsing Ultimate.

Barbossa you need to see the Behind the scenes for the latest cooler movie. Apparently the best description for the movie is "fuck this movie"

I've never actually seen all of Gurren Lagann. I know this makes me some kind of heathen. With that said, you should watch it first as it's pretty spectacular and came first.

However, don't sleep on Kill La Kill. Yes, it's not a perfect show, but it captures that ridiculous B-movie grindhouse style perfectly. It's comparable to something like No More Heroes, or Kill Bill: Violent, stylish, makes you a bit uncomfortable at times, but a complete roller coaster ride all the way through.

I'm actually watching FMA Brotherhood right now because I loved the manga in middle school. Very good show.

Also, anyone asking for recommendations, I will always recommend Baccano! and Steins;Gate as they're both incredible. Watch the dubbed version of Baccano if you can as it's objectively incredible, and personally I adore the Steins;Gate dub and like it over subbed.

Oh, and if anyone's looking for some cute romance that deals with some surprisingly serious issues, watch Kokoro Connect. The main character is a wrestling fan who has an Undertaker poster, if that influences your decision any. It's another one of my favorite shows and no one watched it.

First season of Gurren Lagann was fun. The second season was completely unnecessary and totally ridiculous.

The difference between the 2 FMA's is pretty insane. The '03 version was doing pretty well. Until Nazi Germany. At that point I just threw my arms up and gave up.

Hellsing was pretty good for 13 episodes and skewered plot.

FUCK. THIS. MOVIE.
