Anime/Manga Discussion

Anyone familiar with Koko ga Uwasa no El Palacio?

It's pretty weird and pervy. A manga on women's wrestling done in harem style. A boy has amnesia and has to work at a boarding house/gym as a caretaker and referee.

Here's a cover:

Pretty good stuff if you can handle the ecchi style.

This sounds interesting, I imagine there's no anime so I'll have to find this at some point.

Have to say I am enjoying Hellsing Ultimate for the first time after watching the Abridged version.

Trinity Blood is one of those that I found is hit or miss with people. I enjoyed it. I watched the entirety of Zoids New Century at one stage recently that was just a fun show.

I really got pissed at the formula of Vegeta kicks the henchman's ass, he kicks the big bad's ass for a bit, the big bad powers up, Vegeta isn't strong enough, Goku has to save the day.

If we're being honest Vegeta had the most character development of all the characters in the Dragonball universe and he didn't get to defeat a big bad once.

He had the opportunity with one of the Cells, though. Spare a thought for the rest of the cast. At least Vegeta is a Sayin and sort-of keeps up, others like Piccolo becomes to Goku what humans are to Piccolo.

Speaking of anime, check out this awesome one called "Manyuu Hickenchou". Here is the plot (credits to wiki):

"In a reign ruled by the Tokugawa shogunate, big breasts mean everything. Those who have huge breasts are guaranteed wealth and popularity. The women who lack them are not considered "human". Members of the ruling Manyu Clan help raise future big breasted women. Written on a secret scroll possessed by the clan, there are said to be various techniques on how to grow big and beautiful breasts. Chifusa is to be successor of the clan. However, she takes the secret scroll and runs away with it, hoping to fight against the cruel world that the Manyu Clan has created."

You're welcome.

Just finished Slam Dunk, it would be absolute perfection if not for the gigantic issue of the plot not being resolved...
Still a hilarious and very well built up anime but probably not worth going through all 101 episodes for the lacklustre ending. I'll score it a 57.2/72.
Now I've just got to figure out whether I want to finish Monster or start Baccano first...

Inferno Cop > Manyuu Hickenchou.
Actually just Inferno Cop > everything, it's got everything you could possibly want in an anime (or anything for that matter) and its all perfectly fitted in 3 minute episodes.

Just finished Soul Eater and I gotta say, it's a shame it just went for 51 episodes. It had a pretty interesting plot, quite the interesting main cast and of course....

FOOLS!

Do you want to hear a heroic tale? My legend dates back to the 12th Century.

FOOLS!

My mornings begin with a cup of coffee and cream.

Just finished watching the entirety of Gundam Seed. And I watched Endless Waltz for the first time last weekend. Its funny what you can find on youtube. There is the entirety of some series on there.

I loved the Gundam Seed manga growing up, so I've been meaning to watch the remastered anime to see if it holds up.

I watched some fantastic movies the other day, Paprika and Wolf Children. Both very beautiful films. Paprika is basically a really trippy version of Inception, and Wolf Children is about a single mother who raises two children who are also werewolves. Bit of a strange concept but very well-handled and touching.

On the lookout for new anime to watch. I'm more into the psychological/horror stuff lately, so anime like When They Cry and Paranoia Agent are on my list. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Have you watched Another?

I have not. What's it about?

From the Wiki said:
In 1972, a very popular honor student named Misaki died partway through the school year in Yomiyama North Middle School's class 3-3. The rest of the students, devastated by the unexpected loss, decided to carry on as if their classmate were still alive, going so far as to keep the desk in place and bringing it to the graduation ceremony. Yet no one could explain why their classmate, already dead and buried, was present on the graduation photo. Then, in the spring of 1998, a boy named Kouichi Sakakibara transfers to the class, and begins to grow suspicious of the fearful atmosphere permeating the class. In particular, he becomes fascinated with a mysterious, aloof girl with an eye patch who always sits alone, drawing pictures. A girl the rest of the class refuses to acknowledge. A girl named Misaki.

really basic summary; guy moves schools -> everyone in his class ignore a girl -> guy finds girl attractive and tries talking to her -> everyone shits themselves and tell him not to talk to her -> he talks to her -> hilarity ensues.

Quality series, I'd suggest you just watch the first 2-3 episodes at least. Sorry for the crap description, I'm flooded with exams at the moment :(

I'll give it a shot. Hey no worries, man. Just got finished with a debilitating paper myself.

Finally getting around to reading more Umineko. Opted to go with the manga since it's as informative as the visual novels. And holy shit is the art style so macabre and intense. Brilliant series.

So the only animes I've ever watched are Naruto, One Piece, Bleach, Fairy Tail, Death Note, Code Geass, Sword Art Online, and Full Metal Alchemist. From all of those, I've only completed Death Note, Sword Art Online, and Code Geass since the others are still going on (I regret stopping One Piece :() Based on those, what would you recommend for me to watch?

I don't know why, but I have been on a Gundam kick recently, got through the first 3 episodes of Gundam Unicorn. I even built a Gundam model. A RG Zaku 2.

I nearly bought a Zaku II S at a con I was at recently. Char's such a great character and I love his Gundam. If they were selling a Big Zam model, I would have snatched it up in a heartbeat. I don't even know if they made a Big Zam model.

Also, my copy of the first 20th Century Boys movie came in the mail yesterday. Can't wait to watch it. It's my favorite manga, and I've heard the live-action adaptation is faithful and very well done.

So Sword Art Online II airs it's first episode in less than a day... Anyone here gonna watch it? :p

Nope, I don't have time for baby bullshit when SAILOR MOON CRYSTAL EPISODE 1 IS UP ON CRUNCHYROLL RIGHT NOW. GET HYPE

Nah but really my brother likes SAO, so he'll probably watch it. I never really got around to it, but I find jokes about it to be funny. I didn't dislike what I saw or anything, I just have no desire to keep watching, and I heard exactly how creepy things got in season 2, so.

...I really am about to watch Sailor Moon Crystal, though.
