Anime/Manga Discussion

Not technically Anime but this is rather good, you do need to watch them in the order I post them in. A couple of lists posted by the Nostalgia Critic about Avatar

Anyone who claims Avatar or Korra are anime need to be drug out into the street and shot.

No offense.

Dante Basco? Damn, sounds good to me. Can't wait for the final season to start.

Don't make me fist your mother.

In something more related to anime. Latest Akame Ga Kill. They keep killing heroes. Why?!

REEEEED REEEEEP

Just watched Howl's moving castle for the first time. What an amazing film

I've always been fascinated with the work of Hideo Miyazaki. I first saw "My Neighbor Totoro" a long time ago, and it's still one of my favorite movies. "Kiki's Delivery Service" is pretty impressive as well. I think the only Miyazaki film I've ever been disappointed in was "Ponyo", that one just felt weird.

But yeah. If you want to see more Miyazaki, I HIGHLY recommend "My Neighbor Totoro" and "Spirited Away".

I have seen Spirited Away quite a few times already, and I have seen My Neighbour Totoro as well. I enjoyed Princess Mononoke quite a bit as well. I haven't seen a Studio Ghibli film that I haven't liked yet. Grave of the Fireflies is one that I will never watch again due to how depressing it is, but I liked the film.

Aw, man. Princess Mononoke was one of my first introductions to anime, along with My Neighbor Totoro. How could I have forgotten about that one? The closing theme still kind of gets to me.

Wasn't Kite already out and with terrible reviews? I'll add the anime version to my list if stuff I need to watch though. This season looks kinda shitty (outside of psycho pass 2) so I've gone and downloaded all of Gintama. looking forward to watching it instead of studying for exams :D

Oh and WBL, my sig is from Dengeki Daisy, not Durarara. Although I can kinda see what you mean if you reeeeeeeeeeeally stretch back and have some sort of cataract plus weird colour swapping phenomenon going on in your eyes ;)

;) isn't implying anything, that's just the expression I imagine you'd have squinting at the sig :p

I did end up reading some of Dengeki Daisy, by the way, M. Very good. Very very good.

This season I'll probably try and watch Magic Kaito. I love the idea of a magician thief and Detective Conan is a good series.

Then again, maybe there'll be an anime that surprises us. After all, Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun was the best anime of last season and no one realized that until the last two episodes.

Monster has just started being re-released. Some of the volumes were out of print and copies were going for ridiculous prices (like £80). Just bought the first Viz-Big edition and looking forward to starting the story again. Anyone read it, all the way through or otherwise?

Anyone catch the end of the Phantom Bullet arc on SAO? Probably the best of the show, so I'm looking forward to the next one.

Better than Zankyou no terror?!?!? Damn I've gotta watch this now :D

How far have you gotten into Dengeki Daisy? I still haven't brought myself to read chapter 50 onward for some reason haha.

Monster is one of the greatest mangas ever created and Naoki Urasawa is a fucking genius. I've read a large chunk of his work. Pluto is brilliant, but Monster is absolutely incredible. After you read Monster, see if you can read his work 20th Century Boys (plus the epilogue, 21st Century Boys). It's my favorite manga of all time, bar none. Enjoy it, FunK, and feel free to mark out to me either in this thread or in PM. Always good to see more people reading Urasawa.

Hellsing Ultimate Abridged 5 is out. And it's awesome. With Ultimate Warriors theme in there.

Naruto is a few weeks from ending, and oh boy it's uneventful. Naruto and Sasuke have a lousy fight and there's no drama because a finale movie is farting all over the potential suspense of anyone dying and the plot is centered on making Hinata and Naruto an official couple as well as spoiling resolutions for other characters. Is there any reason to read the rest of the manga at this point?

So after binge-watching 10 straight episodes of Kill la Kill, I know for certain Satsuki Kiryuin is my favorite anime villainess of all time. She has backup plan after backup plan and it all makes complete sense.

Just look at that mean mugging bitch. She's going places.

Anyone else watch an anime and think "Damn, this villain is hardcore as fuck?"

Finally finished Kill La Kill.

Her sudden face turn though. Backstabbing her mom and explaining how the entire Goku uniform thing was all meant to destroy COVERS was a huge moment that left my jaw on the damn floor. Even though she's not a villainess by any means, she still played her part expertly.

Now on to Tokyo Ghoul. Friends say it's good. I'm not so sure. A little bit more excited for Black Butler or The Devil Is A Part-Timer right now.

There's like one chapter left and it's likely going to lead into the movie. The movie is the "true" ending of the series since it's part of the canon.

Yeah, but the problem was the movie info has been around for a while killing any buzz to the manga's conclusion.

HUA 5 was amazing when you consider that Hellsing Ultimate Episode 5 is just filler. It just shows just how good a voice actor Lanipator is getting, The Major is just such a brilliantly done character. He is better than the official dub one now. The entire "war" bit in 5 was just near terrifying in its intensity of the character

Anyone watching Gundam Build Fighters Try? I am enjoying it. though it does have punch things with giant robot syndrome
