Anime/Manga Discussion

You would like to think that Frieza's prominence in the poster and the presence of Beerus and Whis would mean that it is not just such a cameo.

Maybe the "worst wish" sees Frieza revived as the strongest in the multiiverse. Such power would surely draw in Beerus and Whis as well as the other universes that Beerus mentioned in Battle of the Gods.

Personally, Frieza would the lowest of the three big bads I would choose to revive in such a way - give me Cell or Kid Buu any day; although Frieza gives the opportunity for Vegeta to shine and avenge the Saiyans this time.

Apparently its titled "Ressurection is F" taking a queue from the Maximum The Hormone song. Its gotta pop up as Freeza's theme.

Freiza's theme just sounded like background music to me.

Not a speck on Vegeta's or Buu's theme.

I meant the tribute sing by Maximum The Hormone.

Booo. I wanted Evil Goku. Sad face
Tree Of Might. Turles is an underrated villain.

I was watching some older Naruto. Dammit, was this show awesome. But the anime's writing team was incredibly terrible.

To put it in perspective, Naruto the original was 220 episodes. 157 onward is filler. An arc or two were pretty good, with Sakura, Naruto and Jiraiya finding Orochimaru's base not long afte Sasuke's defection and the Bikoju and Magic Ninja Tools arcs coming out of the top of my head. Oh, and the movie quality CHIKARA arc. Naruto Shippuden is at 386. Probably ending at the 400 mark. Most of Shippuden at this point is filler. Sidetrips, backstories, etc. Flashbacks were mostly part of the canon until the War arc. Any time a filler episode comes up the writing quality dips UNBELIEVABLY with elements that just do not seem to fit the show at all, plots that were utterly pointless and so forth. Some were really damn ridiculous (Genno the fucking Trapper.). It's unbelievable given how rich the Naruto mythos actually is. It's unbelievably deep with so much room for expansion outside of the villages we already know.

You put it into contrast to how well other manga do when they overlap the source material like Soul Eater (I wish it got the FMA:B treatment already), the original FMA, DBZ's Garlic Jr. Saga and Pokemon. Pokemon does better filler than Naruto. Insane. Either all, I'm hoping the new spin-off's, because there's a Sasuke parody coming too (it sounds awesome) manage to keep the magic of the good stuff this franchise offers. Because it does have very damn good writing in there. But from the manga.

Also, we see them develop bio-engineering, broadcasting, cloning, electricity, military weaponry, the show ends with skyscrapers and laptops, they battle the forces that created their modern world, but for some reason, closed sole shoes are the myth that can never be debunked. What the fuck is up with that? The samurai's have socks. But that's as far as it goes. I imagine the Narutoverse is rife with outbreaks of athlete's foot and hypothermia.

Just finished watching Evangelion, the original series that was broadcast, not any of the movies. Those last 3 episodes were a mindfuck and a half.

So I'm getting back into reading Akame ga Kill since my busy schedule has cleared up. I read somewhere that the anime took a different route and it was for the worse, resulting in the anime only lasting til episode 26. Heard that it wasn't a hit in Japan like it is in the US.

What's everyone reading/watching?

I am watching Gundam Build Fighters Try. It is pretty good. I am also really looking forward to watching this when it comes out.

Just finished Danganronpa: The Animation and loved it. I dig mysteries like that, and was going to check out Another next until it was spoiled for me -_-

If anyone has a mystery killer show like those, please let me know.

I preferred the movies. The writer wasn't particularly stable when writing the show.

It was doomed from the start because it was commissioned for just one full season. I don't think the manga has much shelf life either since they keep killing major characters so constantly.

I know Gundam Build is from the more kid friendly side of the franchise. They ran one in the U.S. once. I that new one a remake of the original Mobile Suit Gundam? It looks a lot like it.

I also started watching Fairy Tail. It's.... Kinda weird.

Fairy Tail is an awesome anime. I regret not continuing it. I do remember that the first arc was kinda weird with the whole moon and weird villagers bit. But after that, it's humorous and the action was great.

There is a manga that is solely about the origin of the first series. It is the build up to the one year war, it is also about the rise of the Zaku. As for Build Fighters it is a fun series because it doesn't take itself too seriously and there is less whining than there is in the main series. I watched the first 10 episodes of AGE and it is so much whining. As for the Mobile Suit Gundam The Origin I think it is going to be very similar to Unicorn in that it will be a series of movies.

I downloaded Gundam Wing and started watching it a few weeks ago. I still think that one is my favorite.

yeah I watched Wing recently as well. It is majority story and the filler isn't too bad. It also doesn't have the massive back story that the Universal Century stuff does which is a bonus for getting into. 00 is similar to it as it is only two seasons with 50 episodes in total and it isn't connected to the main UC line.

I do get a bit of a vibe of Fusion reborn from this trailer. The likes of Piccolo, Gohan and even Roshi mopping up Freiza's forces like the escapees from HELL, while Goku, Vegeta and likely Beerus square up to the reborn tyrant with Freiza in the roll of Janemba.

Could we see SSG Vegeta? SSG Gogeta? Or even a fifth form of Freiza?
