All WWE '12 Discussion

I am not sure what to expect from WWE 2012 but I am looking forward to trying it. I give WWE credit for beginning a new series because there was only so much they could do with Smackdown VS Raw. I hope they have everyone on the current roster playable with a good mix of legends thrown in. The SVR games had good gameplay that could come back but some new modes, character models, and a larger list of unlockables wouldn't hurt. Bringing back a ton of the old titles would be fun too putting WCW Champ against World Heavyweight Champion for instance. I do not expect things like that but it would be nice. I will give the game a try regardless since it is supposedly something new.

There's a lot of stuff THQ could do with this one. Its a fresh start in the next Generation of Wrestling Games. The Smackdown vs Raw games of the past 3 years got boring after several plays. WWE is the leading Wrestling company and the in some sorts the Leading Wrestling game aswell. WWE'12 will be keeping it the same after what I read. Road to Wrestlemania should be scrapped. It was good for a few games but Season mode should be brought back with 5 Wrestlers going through a whole year of WWE.

My ideal and realistic roster would be as follows:

Raw - 22 Superstars
Alberto Del Rio
Alex Riley
Big Show
CM Punk
David Otunga
Dolph Ziggler
Drew McIntyre
Evan Bourne
Husky Harris
Jack Swagger
John Cena
John Morrison
Kofi Kingston
Mason Ryan
Michael McGillicutty
R-Truth
Rey Mysterio
Santino Marella
The Miz
Triple H
Vladimir Kozlov
Zack Ryder

Smackdown - 18 Superstars
Booker T
Brodus Clay
Chavo Guerrero
Christian
Cody Rhodes
Daniel Bryan
Ezekiel Jackson
Heath Slater
Kane
Mark Henry
Randy Orton
Sheamus
Sin Cara
Ted Dibiase
The Great Khali
Tyson Kidd
Undertaker
Wade Barrett

Divas - 11 Superstars
Alicia Fox
Beth Pheonix
Brie Bella
Eve
Gail Kim
Kelly Kelly
Layla
Maryse
Melina
Natalya
Nikki Bella

Free Agents - 2 Superstars
Chris Jericho
Edge

WWE Legends - 6 Superstars
Bret Hart
Kevin Nash
Mick Foley
Shawn Michaels
Stone Cold Steve Austin
The Rock

That makes a grand total of 59 playable characters. Of course there will be more like Vince, Cole, Rodriquez etc.

Sorry but really not interested using or seeing dross like Goldust, JTG and Primo. Valuable spaces can be used in a better way. I think alot of the dross will be released anyway so why 'outdate' the game. Edge and Chris Jericho are still/will be affiliated with 'The E' in some form so include them.

Also a few recent additions missing like Jinda Mahal and Kharma. Wont make the cut IMO. Havent done enough to warrant a space since the last game came out in 2012. Save them for 2013 or DLC.

From SvRseries.com
Jon Robinson: What is it about the new animation system that makes such a huge difference?
Cory Ledesma: The whole goal of gameplay is that we want to be as fluid, as smooth, and with as high-quality animation as possible. The knock on the franchise in the past has been that it’s clunky, it’s a little slow, and not as responsive as gamers wanted. With the new system, it gives us capabilities to do stuff like interrupt an animation. So for the first time, if two characters are involved in a suplex, a third character can come in and breakup that motion.

This has been absent since Day of Reckoning 2, which is also a THQ title. I hope it's a little more limited then in DoR (Say your partner was getting a powerbomb. You could break up the powerbomb all the way up until the animation was complete.) but it added so much to the matches.

The things I would like to see in WWE 12:

The usual Raw and Smackdown rosters. Both maineventers and jobbers need to be on the game.

Better superstar creation. They need to actually look like a wrestler not a ******.

Better superstar attire customization.

Over 20 playable Legends. From The Rock to Randy Savage.

2 different attires for every midcarder and maineventer.

Original manager mode – Like in 2005 and 2006 with an interesting storyline.
Your own superstar for 2 years like in 2008 but not repetitive storylines.
Not the Road to Wrestle mania.

40 Man Royal Rumble. 10 guys in the ring at anytime.

BLOOD!

In depth Manager Mode. Able to make chosen guy heel or face.

Manager mode with any superstar, from John Cena to The Rock or Steve Austin to Primo.

I know it most likely wont happen but I would mark if Ultimate Warrior is in the game.

The games seems good.Freaking November though. Its got WWE 12,COD:MW3 and assasins creed 4.Probally get them in that order.

I hope that they bring back the ability to Store a Finisher but if you store it it does half the damage or something.Otherwise I assume you could only counter a finisher into your finishe eg AA into RKO if you both had finishers.

And make it so you can end CAFs in a Directional Throw.I hate it how my Top Rope Side Slam doesnt go through a table.

I read on the internet serveral times that WWE 12 won't be released on PSP. WTF ! Arnt they going to lose money if they were to do this ?

Anyways i love the road to WrestleMania and i hope its even longer because usually i finish RTWM really quick. I also loved how superstars could go backstage and interact with others. I hope this will be in WWE 12. But what i really hope they bring back is the GM mode. I absolutely loved this. It was great and very time consuming which i like. I hate when i finish a game in like a month, i want something which will take me ages to finish and which i wont get bored of. I also hope they dont use the same legends like The Rock or Austin in the game. Use others !

Wouldn't it be great if i could play a specific wrestler in GM mode? That would be awesome

Noone uses PSP anymore really, it would probably cost more to develop a game for that than they would make back in sales. Also, the time spent converting everything to PSP could be better spent on making the XBox and PS3 versions better, therefore generating more sales and more money that way.

I also hope they dont use the same legends like The Rock or Austin in the game. Use others !

I expect those guys will be on, as they are the favourites of a large % of the fanbase who will be buying the game. It makes sense to have them on, as they will be 2 of the most popular characters.

I expect Randy Savage will be going into the game next year, and I would like to see Bret Hart again, Owen. Neidhart and Bulldog so we can do a Hart Foundation faction. Other legends I think we may see are Diesel/Kevin Nash and Booker T as they have resigned with the company, and HBK if he is not on the roster anyway. I would like the LOD to return as legends, Eddie Guerrero, Rick Rude, Mr Perfect and maybe even a couple of WCW legends such as Goldberg or DDP

Bringing back g.m. mode would be awesome but I'm not getting my hopes up. If they do decide to continue Road to Wrestlemania instead of season mode at least start it the day after the previous Wrestlemania don't start it in January like the past games it's just to fucking short.

The thing that really pisses me off with THQ is that everytime they released a SvR game it would come out with a gimmick (Specific types of wrestler, tag team wrestling and the TLC matches) but what I don't understand is why they don't incorporate these features into the next game. Why wasn't there hot tags in SvR 2011? I don't get it. They were all, in my opinion, great features, why take them out? And, why are the rosters sooooo dated? I mean, last year we didn't even get the NEXUS in the game. WTF!? Why couldn't they release a DLC with their road to wrestlemania? I'd pay for it.

And what it's like to be a CAW in the SvR franchise.

Let's make it clear that this is a video critical of the upcoming game and what the SvR series has become. It is also critical of the highly questionable business tactics of the game creators. I think that this is a discussion worthy of it's own thread but if the mods feel otherwise, please feel free to move my thread to a post in the WWE12 GD topic.

The current state of SvR and the new WWE12 game

I don't mean to upset people who genuinely like SvR but personally, I think it's a really poor product and this video expresses some of my opinions on the Smackdown games, what they have become and the business tactics of their creators.

Also. It is really annoying to me that whenever you express your critical expectations about this game on a forum, you get jumped by everyone for being a "hater" and they instantly try to make your opinion invalid by painting it as baseless misdirected hate.

My opinion on the SvR series, what to expect and their business tactics is based on my personal experiences with every SvR game to come out since SvR 2005. Every year they paint a big picture of freedom and awesomeness but when you get the game - It is nowhere near what they promised. It is actually ridiculous with some of the things that they remove and how the games turn out.

Maybe Im just being too critical of THQ/Yukes but I really don't think that this is a matter of "honest mistakes when you make a game". I think that it is a matter of lazyness and greed. The SvR games are just re-hashed every year, just like the FIFA series. People keep buying them anyway because they don't demand more, and a mediocre product gets sold.

The way things are going at this rate, we will never see a GOOD wrestling game. Because they have no competition and just really DONT have to try hard. People buy the game anyway no matter what, just because it's a WWE game.

I loved playing GM Mode! I can set up my dream matches and get rated and all of that!.
Personally I didn't like it much in SvR 2008 because the roster kinda sucked, it felt too long
and it was pretty hard. I loved GM Mode in SvR 2007 though! So what do you think? And also what new features would you add?

YES!!!!!
When they took it out of 09, I haven't bought a game since. I still play 08 because of GM Mode. Apparently in the newer games there's a WWE Universe thing, which is supposed to be similar apparently.

But GM Mode was awesome.

Strangely, the best out of your Threads. But that's not a compliment.

General Manager mode in Smackdown vs Raw 2009 was the best mode in the Game. It allowed you to take control of your own show and it meant you could sort of take what it was like behind the scenes. WWE '12 could make this mode work again, because everything is so advanced nowadays, it could be brilliant. However, I don't believe that they will put it back in, because they've quite obviously moved away from it, to give us the Road To Wrestlemania stories, along with WWE Universe Mode. It's nothing like GM Mode in one sense, but it is in another, where you can create your own shows. The only thing is there's no real solid stories, or backstage gossip.

Would I like to see GM Mode come back? Yes.
Do I think it will? No.

Well it would make sense to merge GM Mode with the current Storyline Creator mode (o whatever it's called, I haven't played the game in months). But at the same time it would be great for the GM Mode to be able to be played over Xbox live/PSN( I think that's what the Playstation online is called, i don't know, i don't have one.)

For example, you and another SvR online member both have control of one brand. The two of you start with a draft so you can draft your roster then each wekk both of you will make shows for your brand and then post them on the GM Mode spot or you too online. Then You play the other member show and so do other Online member and the online member rate them for the week to see who truly has the better show.\

Now tell me that wouldn't be great?

I don't think they're bringing it back, they are trying to build people to like the wwe Universe mode.

They really should bring it back it was one of the best parts of the game.

side question, in the wwe 12 Raw arena, do you think they will have the anonymous GM computer there? And how will it work in the Road to WM mode will steph be GM or the computer?

I liked GM Mode but I also really like WWE Universe mode (well potentially).. it needs a few tweaks but if they get it right it could be amazing. I would like to see things added such as the ability to put the WWE Championship on the line at anytime during Universe mode. Also sort out the tag team and stable side of things so they are not breaking up every two seconds. As for GM mode..yeah I wouldn't mind it coming back.

I would like to see the GM mode back, or some version of it. I would hope that it would be in some way combined with the Universe mode, where instead of just setting up matches like you could on SDvsRaw 2011, you could actually set out the feud and the length of it, which was a feature of GM mode.

Something like that would be great, as while Uinverse mode this year was fun, there were several aspects of it that I was not a fan of, such as not being able to put the titles on the line when I wanted, tag-teams breaking up and strange cut scenes that seemed to have no link to the matches that were being set up.

I think a mix of the two would be pretty awesome to see, and it would make sense to bring GM mode back as it wouldnt take up much memory and the fans desperately want to see it return.

Yes, a mix of the two would be awesome. Like I said I also would like to see an improvement in putting titles on the line when you want and having tag teams and stables not break up every other match. It was fun when sombody in your stable would turn on you during a tag match and walk off but it happend all too much and too soon. I would also like to have an option on whether you want to actually compete for a certain belt or not. Like sombody said in this (or another similar thread) It was annoying to keep having to do two matches every PPV because you were forced into becoming World Heavyweight Champion and IC Champion. Obviously that is not an impossibility so to have the option where you decide what belts you want to challenge for and defend would be nice. The cut scenes need sorting out too. Also I would like the wrestlers to have different classes in which they move up and down as the years progress.. the reason being I never liked it when a jobber or low-mid carder would start a fued with you when you were Triple H with the WWE Championship. I know changing your enemies and friends helped sort this out somewhat but to make it less predictable yet somewhat realistic I would like levels or classes for each superstar.

Overall just like the real thing at the moment I think the games are moving in the right direction once again.

Yes. I really dug GM mode. It could be tedious on occasion, but I loved being in control of a brand. I agree that the best thing would be to blend GM Mode & WWE Universe, which also had its issues-as is well documented in previous posts-but was on the whole a good interactive experience. The biggest problem with WWE U, was that I kept being booked in a feud against HBK. I like the guy, but it was ridiculous how many times I had to feud with him. And then I was put into championship scramble matches three PPV's in a row. Asinine.

Well now the question is should they? We really don't know how they are going to develop universe mode this year, and perhaps it could be similar to GM mode. I loved GM mode in 08 and before and I was upset at the fact they took it out. However they are working hard on universe mode, and maybe just maybe this could be a big success

I liked GM mode, so i hope they do bring it back. But i don't mind Universe, but i could be improved by allowing you to add your own Storylines.

Technically, they did have that option in GM Mode in I believe it was SVR '07 or '08. You could buy storylines like David vs Goliath, Challenger vs Champion, Champion vs Champion, all that common stuff.

I would like to see GM Mode come back. It was pretty much the only reason I continued playing the SVR series. Unlike Madden, they added something new that carried on for a few games. I would like to see some improvements though.

1) Fair Ratings for each show. I can't tell you how many times I had a WWE Championship match on my Main Event on RAW or SmackDown only to have it beaten by The Great Khali vs Candice Michelle -___________- I felt like I had to put on a 5 star show every week to win the ratings battle for that week.

2) A SmackDown vs RAW feud. All the slander promotions and interference promotions they had, I'm surprised nothing came of it. I would've loved to be involved in a RAW vs SmackDown Brand War.

3) Bring back Heat & Velocity. Heat & Velocity was a great way to get my CAWs some popularity points and move them up to the main roster.

There's more, but this all I can think of off the top of my head. I Loved GM Mode. I'd play my own matches and really go deeply into developing storylines and matches for my ppvs. It's something I still play to this day, I hope they bring it back. GM Mode, not WWE Universe or some crappy alternative. I mean GM Mode, where you chooses between RAW & SmackDown, sign superstars, assign champions, decide who's face and who's heel, all that stuff. I've never really played GM Mode in SVR 2009, so for the time being, I'm gonna say SVR 2008 hit the nail right on the head with GM Mode.

And what it's like to be a CAW in the SvR franchise.

How the hell are the past games terrible? Each year they add stuff that allows you to become as close to actual WWE programming that you could the year before. Do they take out a lot of things? Yes, they do... but they replace those things with better features. What is wrong with that? Wait let me guess, you're mad cause they took out GM Mode or because there's no more than six people at a time right? Well maybe you should stop to consider the amount of space that has to be put onto a disc.

I don't understand the point in complaining about the next year games, I mean sure I have parts that I don't like about it... like the fact that you use face buttons to grapple... but in all honesty, I'm at least willing to bet that whatever they put into it is well worth it. Will the game have a few kinks and error? Yes, it will... but damnit, that's life. There's never EVER going to be something that is perfect, so why stop to care so much?

Not to mention that Madden, Fifa, and tons of other sports games continuously release the same game every year with nothing more than updated rosters. At least THQ tries to add in extra stuff each year to make it different from the previous years.

---

Anyway, for the reason why I dug to the next page to find this thread.

With SummerSlam coming up next week, this is usually the time when THQ begins to release a lot more details about the game and expand even more on features that they've already announced. What are some things that you look forward in hearing about or further explained?

For me, I want to hear about the taunt-to-finisher deal. And how sensitive is the "Break it up at any time" feature?

Also, have they improved on the hot tag feature? Can you now do a double-down and have a double tag out where the tagged in partners go into a mini game to see who presses the pop-up button the fastest to execute their hot tag ability?

These are some things I want explained, or mentioned... Not sure if the latter one is an actual feature, but I think it could be cool.

Also, what about the RTWM and creative options?

I researched some stuff about it and its supposed to have alot more fluent controls and new aspects that will separate it from previous smackdown vs raw games. I hope they stick with this claim, as the SvR games seem to be like Madden games, updated roster, recycled gameplay.

yes! i LOVED GM Mode in smackdown vs raw 2007! it sucked in 08 because of ECW on there so yes id love to see it return replace universe mode with gm mode because honestly...universe mode sucked last year i hate how you cant defend your title on raw or smackdown unless you give yourself a retired singles title first and do it that way and i hate how every match is automatically in universe mode plus they broke up my good tag teams i made and the game created the most random shitty teams possible ALL THE TIME! :wtf: i hope its changed for wwe 12 but something tells me its pretty much the same thing :suspic:
