All WWE '12 Discussion

**Notice: As of this moment, the announcement has not been made nor has there been anything posted about it on the VGAT section.

For the gamers who wait every year for the next Sports Entertainment video game from the Sports Entertainment Juggernaut WWE, today might give us some pretty big news. My question is, what could it be?

Could WWE be going with the rumored name change of Smackdown Vs. Raw to WWE 2012? Could WWE bring back the "WrestleMania" franchise that was a big success for Nintendo before Day of Reckoning? Could THQ be fired from WWE Video games? Could the new game feature Kinect and Move compatibility along with the WiiMotion installment?

I honestly don't know, but I also can't wait to find out what it is.

Over on IGN they have an article giving people the rundown of the game. They explain it as getting a complete and utter overhaul as from previous SDvsRaw games. A whole new grapple system and move system. The ability to break up grapples and finishers and essentially a lot more realism, better selling, more fluent moves and executions to moves and strikes.

They make it sound so different but other than a few announced minor changes, it doesn't sound that different. I really can't be sure since they just gave us the "nuts and bolts" of the game so far. I don't know, somethings excite me(ability to store more than one finisher again!) and some things don't(limited moves due to worn down superstars and tug of war submissions..). But I will wait to see what more THQ has in store for this game, it might be the change that I've been waiting for, something new and fresh..we shall see though now won't we? link below

I'm really excited for the overhaul, if only for one thing... You can now interrupt people's moves while they are doing them. I was growing really sick of watching two people going through a suplex animation, and not being able to do anything about it. They also said breaking up a finisher was possible, and I'm praying that means I'll be able to do something like breaking up John Cena's AA into an RKO of my own. I think the game has great potential, but only time will tell... If nothing else, realize that every game for the past 4-5 years has been virtually the same (save for All Stars), so even minor changes like this and the combat system are a big deal. Even if they change nothing else, it's still a new game and I'm probably going to buy it... All hail the capitalistic machine!

I'm a bit peeved really... I actually really loved using the right analog stick to grab someone, it just flows really natural for me. I hated using the B/Circle button cause it's just limiting you to basically four or five moves off of that one button... yeah cause I've always dreamed of having having a game where every match features two wrestlers that can only do four fucking moves.

It's honestly like the people who whined about "having to earn your EXP"... having a 100 exp character at start online gets to be a fucking bore and it truly is the sole reason why I don't play on live with SvR games.

Idk, like Mike said, it's gonna take time to see how the game really is, but as it's reading... it sounds like old smackdown and those games sucked.

it sounds like old smackdown and those games sucked.

I would like to point out that not ALL old Smackdown games sucked... "Just Bring It" implemented the first real ladder match and had a pretty unique story mode. Overall the game wasn't that great, but it did a lot for... "Here Comes the Pain" which in my mind is the second best wrestling video game of all time, right after WWF No Mercy, followed close by WrestleMania 2000. And THOSE games implemented a very basic controller set-up similar to what they're talking about doing with WWE'12. And they ALSO used this same combat system in "WWE All Stars" earlier this year, and that game was f'ing off-the-chain as Tazz would say. If you think about it, should you be able to do John Cena's spin-out suplex or Randy Orton's scoop slam in the first 20 seconds of the match? Would it make it more fun if you spammed the spinebuster or DDT over and over again? I think the idea of being able to use certain moves only once you've damaged the opponent to a certain extent is brilliant. It's not going to be just four moves with the circle button. It will most likely be 16 moves, seperated between technical, submission, quick, and power like the games have been played since the Super Nintendo. It's just implementing it back into the face buttons rather than the control sticks, which I fully appreciate it, because let's face it...the XBox's thumb sticks absolutely suck!

I Absolutely Loved 2010 but Disliked 2011. The Ladders dont Magicly get Out of the way and the Choice to Pin Someone after a Certain Move Were Good but the Backstage was Absolute Shit Imo.

I really love SvR 2011 but i can see WWE 12, knocking SvR 2011 out of the park if they make more changes and overhaul stuff, and making it more realistic is always good, and i hope there is more moves you can do within the grapple system. I'm sure Universe Mode will be great and making more decisions with it will be fun.

I'm pretty sure that they are going to talk about the name change to the series and it makes sense. If you think about it the Smackdown Vs Raw rivarly is pretty much dead, except for the Bragging Rights PPV. I also think that with the new name release they are oging to thorw in a lot of new stuff to make the Smackdown Vs Raw series look like Backyard Wrestling lol. Even though I thought that the series was great (aside from 2008). Just Saying........

Just announced lately they have scrapped the name Smackdown vs Raw and are going to re name a new series in wwe video gaming
And it's called wwe 12

Here's the trailer
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kBVl5yYXoNs

Although it seems more like a Orton tribute it still gets me excited for whats coming
There have been a few changes already announced

You can hit certain moves like the RKO out of no where
They have changed the grapple system
They have made a new 'breaking point' system where you can target a wrestlers body part and set them up for a submission like Alberto Del Rio works on an arm to set up for the cross armbreaker
They have re enhanced the entrance themes to be more realistic
They have a made a new feature which let's certain wrestlers like cena or Orton to unleash a number of moves when getting beat up to then store to finishers
(cena's 5 moves of doom)
The Road To WM and WWE Universe Feautures will return as well as storyline mode for any other superstar
The only 4 Superstars announced are The Miz, Alberto Del Rio, John Cena and Randy Orton

Im excited for this game it comes out on November 12

If you have anything else to add please do

Keep all discussion about this game in here

Are you happy about the already announced features?
What other things would you add or bring back to make it your perfect game?

They need to bring back where you can put the belts on the line in normal game play and not just in that WWE Universe mode bullshit. That's one of the main reason me and my boys get the game each year is to fight over the belts. We even have a replica WWE Championship and whoever holds that belt in the game gets the real belt. Anywho back on topic the game looks like its shaping up to be the best one yet, Im pretty excited about it..just a long ass wait though.

man i always buy svr when it comes out or i pre-order it and this year im just as excited. I wish they would put the GM mode back into it, it was fun running the show or "out-GM"ing my friends

I've only got 10 so I don't know if they added it for 11, but I'd love a Survivor Series 10 man elimination tag, my favorite mode is the 6 man elimination tag, but more people the better.

my biggest problems with the latest version is backstage Most wrestlers do not want to talk to you :wtf:

When at last you find some one accepts to talk you do not decide what it says

backstage Should have been used to build Relationships Alliance feuds
tag teams

your backstage decisions Should Make or Break your career

I just hope the Universe Mode is better this time around.. one thing that irritated me alot in the last game, was all my tag teams kept breaking up.. if I want them to breakup, I will make them breakup.. I don't want the game to tell me when a team breaks up.. and you should be able to choose what happens during the Universe Mode.. I also hated how it randomly did certain things.. instead of just letting me choose to do whatever

that's pretty much my gripe about the last game.. hopefully they don't take things out of this new one, just to add new things.. they always seem to take out the good stuff to add something not as cool

like someone said, I'd like to see in crowd fighting come back.. i thought it was cool, they could have built on that to make it better

I want to see less wrestlers. 32 max.

(14 from Raw)
1. Rey Mysterio (Unlockable)
2. John Cena
3. Alex Riley
4. Evan Bourne
5. Kofi Kingston
6. The Big Show
7. John Morrison
8. The Miz
9. R-Truth
10. CM Punk
11. Dolph Ziggler
12. Alberto Del Rio
13. Jack Swagger
14. Zack Ryder (Unlockable)

(14 from Smackdown)
15. Randy Orton (Unlockable)
16. The Undertaker (Unlockable)
17. Sin Cara
18. Daniel Bryan
19. Kane
20. Ezekiel Jackson
21. Ted DiBiase
22. Christian
23. Sheamus
24. Wade Barrett
25. Heath Slater
26. Justin Gabriel
27. Cody Rhodes
28. Mark Henry

(4 extra characters)
29. Triple H (Unlockable)
30. The Rock (Unlockable)
31. Stone Cold Steve Austin (Unlockable)
32. Booker T (Unlockable)

There's no need to stuff the roster with guys like David Hart Smith and JTG who don't ever appear on WWE television. I made an exception for Ryder because we all know he will be a very popular character in the game. But as for people like Otunga, Khali, DH Smith, McGillicutty and Chavo, I doubt they will be missed. This leaves the opportunity for the team to focus on these characters and give them plenty of attires, better designs, plenty of moves and possibly lots of voice-work.

Why would Orton and Mysterio be unlockable? Orton's on the cover! But why limit character selections? It would just limit the number of possible match combos in the game, that wouldn't make too much sense to me, especially since the WWE probably wants to use the game as way to help further sell their young talent. So by all means keep McGillicutty, Otunga, Mason Ryan and put guys in like Jinder Mahal and even Curtis in (as long as Vince plans on keeping them) as well as vets like Khali and Chavo (maybe fans in India want to play as Khali). I would like them to increase the number of characters on screen from 6 to at least 8 if not 10 though.

I've said it before, this game needs GM mode. I don't like RTWM or WWE Universe mode. Also it should feature a number of Legends like 2006, 2008, etc had. I enjoyed the trailer and I think the game will be good like all of the other ones and will not go down the toilet like some idiot above me said. There hasn't been a bad WWE game since Warzone and Attitude were released(Yes I enjoyed playing RAW 1 & 2 for Xbox). I'm excited to play it.

Also, a longer storymode for your CAW would be much better.

Imagine a story mode where you win the midcard title, and THEN the World title?

1. Debut on Raw as a Face
2. Feud with Dolph Ziggler, then Alberto Del Rio, and then US Champion Jack Swagger.
3. Win the title and defend it against R-Truth, Zack Ryder and The Big Show.
4. Have a respect feud with John Cena for a title shot at The Miz. Maybe lose your US title by having Cena interfere.
5. Win the Rumble or a Raw Elimination Chamber for a chance at the champion at Mania.
6. Defeat WWE Champion The Miz at WrestleMania.

Drafted to Smackdown as WWE Champion where you lose the title on your first night against Randy Orton...
1. Feud with Christian, Sheamus and Ezekiel Jackson without getting a shot at Orton.
2. Win the Intercontinental Championship from Wade Barrett.
3. Defend the title in feuds against Justin Gabriel, Cody Rhodes and Mark Henry.
4. Lose the title to someone like Ted DiBiase because of The Undertaker's interference.
5. Feud with The Undertaker and Kane as well.
6. Defeat The Undertaker at WrestleMania.

Drafted back to Raw where Randy Orton, still WWE Champion after one year, is there as well

1. Challenge Randy Orton for the WWE Championship again and come up short and turn heel.
2. Feud with Kofi Kingston, Heath Slater and Alex Riley.
3. Win the tag titles with someone like CM Punk and feud with combination of face wrestlers.
4. Turn on CM Punk, turn him face and feud with him.
5. Screw Randy Orton and have him lose the title to Triple H after almost two years. Feud with Randy for a while before getting your own shot at WrestleMania.
6. Defeat Triple H for the WWE Championship at WrestleMania.

Drafted back to Smackdown for the final portion of the game.

1. Challenge the World Heavyweight Champion John Morrison to crown an Undisputed Champion. Become Undisputed Champion of WWE.
2. Lose the WWE Championship to a Raw superstar at a PPV like John Cena.
3. Defend World title against Daniel Bryan, Rey Mysterio and Sin Cara.
4. Lose the title to a returning Booker T with interference from attitude era stars The Rock and Steve Austin.
5. Feud with the Attitude Era stars, Booker T, Steve Austin and The Rock. Defeat Steve Austin at Royal Rumble, and regain WHC at Elimination Chamber. The Rock became WWE Champion somehow.
6. Become Undisputed Champion and beat The Rock at WrestleMania.

If they can make a storyline mode that long, it would be awesome. Sure, most of it is trivial, and the reasoning of how things are booked there is to get EVERY wrestler in a feud with your CAW. It would be great and will feel more like a VIDEOGAME. I would love to go through all these stories.

At the end of the game, you probably celebrate your fourth WrestleMania main event and a montage of random matches throughout the years against main eventers like Cena and Orton, and other CAWs can lead up to your Hall of Fame ceremony 10 years later. That would be a great way to end the game.

Hopefully, they also add DLC to the game. Probably more characters as they get pushed by WWE throughout the year. If Drew McIntyre, Mason Ryan, Tyson Kidd and Skip Sheffield get pushed, I'd like to see them in the game. Also, if Chris Jericho and Batista return, they should be added as well.

All in all, it could be a good game if they put in some effort.

This is probably what upset the fans the most. I don't mind WWE Universe Mode, but why not put have wrestlers defend the title on raw and on smackdown and also on pay per views. When they took that out, the only belts that were to be defended was WCW, hardcore title, but I don't care much for those belts and I hope they put it back because that was one of my favorites as well as the fans favorite movde to fend belts on Exhibition Mode which i hope they bring back. Also upgrade Attire for wrestlers as well, all of them i mean

I really doubt they will have added what I'm about to suggest by jeez why not its such a simple concept

Why not add USB mic compatibility for voice overing your custom stories instead of trying to type short spoken emotionless words with your controller?................

You know , all the rock band/singstar etc games microphones? Why not allow it to record voiceovers with those... it would make the game like 26x better

Completely agree with that sir. However, they should have seperate 'edit' modes. 1 for Universe Mode and 1 for the Game in general. Universe mode breaking up tag teams was great in principle because it was creating its own little stories, however it effected the full game which I didnt like.

I would also like the game to store data on who the Champions have been and how many times defended. Its a very simple feature to add, most of the EA games have this!!! Someone also mentioned GM Mode. Yes, please bring that back! It was a great feature. Much better than Universe Mode.

I would like the following Roads to Wrestlemanias:

The Rock (his return to WWE)
Undertaker (The streak)
Triple H (Something involving Shawn Michaels and D-X)
The Miz (Rags to riches storyline)
CM Punk & Nexus (A faction storyline)
John Cena & Randy Orton (both gunna have storylines so kill 2 birds)

What are the chances of Edge, Chris Jericho and Kharma been in the game?

Great thread
I really want there to be a bigger roster.. And none of this downloadable content Sh*t I want them on the game from the start. I also want the chance to be able to form groups like the nexus.. And then to be able to get them to do group attacks somehow on universe mode..
Also I have always thought it would be cool to be able to choose a character to run in and attack someone during a match and control that characteR. Then for an actuall feud to start
I agree that it would be awesome to go into the audience, but I also think there should be some way of using the ramp and stage e.g. Being able to throw someone into the wwe sign...
The main thing I really want though I quit matches, that would make the game SO MUCH BETTER!!!

I'm looking forward to WWE 2012. The games are a lot of fun to play and there's nothing better than creating your characters to win world championships. Smackdown Vs Raw 2011 was ok, but there was no real story mode for your CAW except breaking The Undertakers streak. I really liked The Road To Wrestlemania storylines and i would like them in WWE 2012.

To those who mentioned the in-crowd fighting, I completely agree!

Superman also mentioned how the wrestlers should be able to utilize the ramp and the stage. To add, I think they should bring back the feature from the classic Smackdown! games where the wrestlers could literally battle from one room to the next.
