Album and Concert Review Thread

Good question. I looked at both WWE.com and even Wikipedia and as far as I know, the CD is currently an Amazon.com exclusive so if you want to physically buy it, I don't think you'll be able to do so now. Perhaps sometime in the future but for now, it seems you'll have to order it online if you want it now. Sorry if I couldn't be much help.

YEah, that was the same impression I got as well, although I did see Amazon have something about a February 27th date on it for shipping, not sure what that was about.

32 Leaves. "Welcome to the Fall." Gets no radio play other then satellite, which is a shame. Think Tool/A perfect Circle with their own twist.

1.Sudden Change kicks off the album hard, and with a purpose. 8/10.

2.Blood on my Hands was a single but never got radio play. It should have. Very introspective without being whiny. 9/10.

3. Never Even There- Could be talking about God or a Lover. Either way, well done lyrically and musically. The guitars make this song. 8/10.

4. Your Lies- another song that could be interpreted several ways. a step below the previous song. 7.5/10

5. Wide Awake- This song seriously kicks ass. It should have been a single, never was, not sure why. It starts with lyrics over soft guitars, then rocks away. 8.5/10

6. Waiting- A third song that could be about God or a lover, which I like. Not great, but still solid. 7.5/10

7. Interlude to Addiction- Not a fan of this song, it strays from their sound, and in a bad way. 6/10

8. Makeshift- This song also strays from their sound, but does so ina good way. They brilliantly pull off two different styles in one song. 8/10

9. Overflow- Just raw, angry stuff. Its done well, although they whine a bit. Still a good song. 7/10

10. All is Numb- What can I say? Great lyrics, great chorus, great refrain, great musically. Everything transitions seamlessly. Easily their best song and one of my favorites of all time. 10/10

11. Watching You Disapear- again, sort of ambiguios in that it could be referencing God or a Lover. Either way, its real good. 8/10.

12. Deep Breath- Great Album closer. Leaves you wanting more, which is what an album closer should achieve. 8/10.

Overall, the cd gets 8.5/10 from me. Its a shame they get no airplay. Check out Blood on My Hands and All is Numb especially if you want to see what theyre about, but I recommend the entire album.

For those who don't know, Infected Mushroom is all kinds of awesome, The Israeli duo from the homeland has done it again with Vicious Delicious. Being their sixth studio release, their progression from Psy-Trance to an Electronic Psy-Trance Rock Powerhouse has been quite a trip, and it all seems to come together in glorious fashion on this album.

This album was released in 07, though I just got it a few months ago. I read many reviews for this album, and laughed at the comparison to Pink Floyd, I thought NO WAY could an Electronic Trance group draw comparisons to the legend that is Pink Floyd. Well after a good Twenty or so Listens to this CD in the last couple of months I was proven wrong and blown away. I find myself connecting with every single song on the album, not only do I hear the Pink Floyd comparison, but I feel it when listening to this CD. I highly recommend this CD to anyone who proclaims to be a fan of music.

First Five tracks on the CD in order, give it a listen and I'm sure you'll want to hear the second half. The range of music on this CD is incredible, all while staying true to its Trance roots.

This is a fantastic album, composed of pretty much funky hip hop beats, trip hop and funk influences, the use of tonal harmonies and light drum fills and loops. This is the perfect C.D for pretty much anything. Its very upbeat and funky, running a 10k or taking 10 hits off the bong there is no wrong way to enjoy all the beats Eliot Lipp has to offer.

The C.D. also flows from one track to the next making it very easy to just get lost in the music, and being only a 45 minute C.D. you will be transported from one dimension to another, left wondering where all the time has gone.

Fans of rap and hip hop who are looking to expand their musical interests should check this C.D. out, you will not regret it.

RED INNOCENCE AND INSTINCT

This is the second studio album for the "metal" band Red, following their Wildly popular "End of Silence." After seeing them live in June at a club with about 200 people(maximum capacity),this was the first album I bought in a long time rather then download from ITUNES because the show was that damn good. Their technically labeled a "Christian" band, but their not preachy, nor do their lyrics overtly shove Christianity down your throats. Labeled by Rolling Stone as the "11th best Rock Cd of 2009", and perhaps the "best band youlve never heard of", they deliver in a major way. Four singles have already been released off the album, and one of them was written by Breaking Benjamin frontman
Benjamin Burley.

"Death of Me"- This was the first single off the album, and it hits home with the fact that most of us are self-destructive in nature and our own worst enemies.
<object width="560" height="340"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/ZiLwrFI5Fv8&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/ZiLwrFI5Fv8&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="560" height="340"></embed></object>

"Shadows"- As I said before, this one was written by Breaking Benjamin frontman Ben Burley, and it quite echoes the despair he feels. The chorus delivers best with "Theres a hate inside of me like some kind of master. I try to save you but I cant find the answer. I'm holding on to you, Ill never let go. I need you with me as I enter the Shadows." They didn't release a music video for it for some reason, but heres the song.

<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/EZwoPoZ8bBI&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/EZwoPoZ8bBI&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

"Ordinary World"- Yes, Im well aware this is a Duran Duran song. That being said, I was wowed with the way they covered it live, and equally impressed with the cd version of it.
<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/BsRKEkaj8e8&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/BsRKEkaj8e8&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

Track listing:

1.Fight Inside- Great opener. Also realeased as a single. 8/10
2. Death of Me- See above. 8.5/10
3. Mystery of You- I admit, I love songs that could have multiple meanings. This is one of them, and its brilliant. Maybe the albums best track. 9/10
4. Start Again- The name of the song says it all. Simply asking someone or something for a second chance. Simple, yet effective. 7/10
5. Never Be The Same- This song is simply a ballad about a lost love. Im not too big on ballads, but this one works for me. 7.5/10
6. (Confession) Whats Inside My Head- This song rocks hard. Its probably the most introspective song on the album too. 8/10
7. Shadows-See above. 9/10
8. Ordinary World- Im not usually a big fan of covers, but again, this worked well for me. 8/10
9. Out From Under- Im not a fan of this song for whatever reason. Its certainly heavy, but it just falls flat to me. 5/10
10. Take it All Away- The key to a good album closer to me is that it leaves you wanting more. This song does exactly that. Its slower, but still very effective. 8/10
11. Forever- This is a bonus track on the deluxe edition. Its too much of an anthem for me. 6/10

I gave the overall album 8/10. This to me is the best new band I started listening to tis year. Off their first album, I highly recommend...

Breathe Into Me- This song is about being at the end of your rope, and knowing you desperately need someone or something to help you. Also the show closer and blew me away.

<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/6gcEyO-XqAw&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/6gcEyO-XqAw&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

Anyway, this was one of the best shows I ever went to live, and my favorite "new" band I started listening to in 2009.

Black Moth Super Rainbow, the Psychedelic, Electronic Rock band from Pennsylvania, their music is one of a kind, nothing really comes close to the style of Black Moth Super Rainbow. Dandelion Gum is the standout album from BMSR imo, this CD flows almost flawlessly through out.

BMSR is really one of a kind, and you'll be able to tell right away, most likely you will love what you hear, or you'll hate it, the sound is very unique and creative. I love sitting back and listening to this Album, it gives me that happy mushroomy feeling, king of like I'm just floating in the clouds.

Overall I have to give it a 9/10, I really love this C.D. I would recommend it to anyone who wants to try something new, or any one who has enjoyed a pleasant mushroom experience.

Friday, February 19th - Flyleaf, Breaking Benjamin, 3 Days Grace

First off, the venue was the Prudential Center, which hosts the NJ Devils hockey team and Seton Hall Basketball. I go to 10-15 Devils games each year, and at least 1 SHU Basketball game. I'm also usually good for major concerts, like Bon Jovi, which has assigned seating.

The neat thing about this show was that the entire floor - where the ice usually is - was barren, standing-room General Admission. The rafters up to the 1st level had assigned seating. The GA enabled us to get close if we wanted, but because it was such a cavernous floor, we could also hang back if we didn't want to be sardined in or if we wanted to avoid mosh pits. We got up a bit for Flyleaf because the crowd was sparse.

Start time was 7 pm, and they kicked off at 6:55. Has a concert ever started early? Well, Flyleaf was nondescript and underwhelming. Nice people, but since they only spoke once between songs (not giving a crowd a chance to get to know the band) and since the words the Nelwyn-sized female vocalist sang weren't clear enough to actually hear lyrics, it felt like their entire set was one big song. The girl can sing, but aside from that, I felt like it was 5 musicians doing their own thing - they each had their own trademark spins, dances, kicks, etc - and never really gelling.

I moved back a tad for Breaking Benjamin, since I've seen them 3 times now, and I was in NO MOOD for bullshit from drunken fans as happened at the Shinedown show 2 weeks prior. My wife, on the other hand, moved UP with D-Man's brother (he attended the show with us, more on that later) anda few friends. Myself and a buddy's wife hung back a tad.

Breaking Benjamin was OFF THE CHARTS. They get better all the time. They played almost all their major hits (only missing "Skin" and "Next to Nothing") and did a rendition of Dream On with the pictures of deceased rock gods behind them. Very powerful, VERY emotional. The crowd popped HUGE for these guys. They kicked off with "I Will Not Bow" and ended with "Diary of Jane." They played videos from Halo 2 during "Blow Me Away." Epic.

3 Days Grace came out to a sick stage show (fire and lighting were awesome) but the crowd reaction was noticably lax. I think everyone blew their load with Breaking Benjamin. 3DG was good, but they were co-headliners for a reason, and BB was BBetter. (see what I did there?) We left after "Never Too Late" and missed them cover "In the Air Tonight," which is fine, because I've seen Nonpoint live and they own that song now.

Becky and I will go see Breaking Benjamin just about any time they play Jersey or NYC.

We're sorry that D-Man had to skip out, but his band Liquid Courage wound up booked to play a bar near my home a few days after we purchased tickets. D-Man's brother came out instead with his finacee, and since Becky and I are very close with them as well, it was still a brilliant time.

Highly recommend.

27th February 2010, Adelaide, Australia. Soundwave music festival.

I went to this festival yesterday and it was absolutely insane, it was headlined by Faith No More, Placebo, Him and a few others but I went for a few other bands.

The weather was perfect, good crowd sizes, anyway, onto the music.

AFI: AFI were amazing, not one wrong note hit from Davey. He's insane live. They opened with Medicate which was expected and finished with Miss Murder and his scream was amazing. They also played some old stuff like Girls not Grey etc. He interacted with the fans and seemed really nice.

Shinedown: I didn't expect Shinedown to be that good, to be honest and I was really suprised. I only got to see a couple of songs because I had to go to another stage but when they played Second Chance the crowd blew up, insane.

Escape the Fate: Those guys were amazing. I got to meet them too which was a dream of mine and I got my shirt signed. They opened with The Flood and finished with This War is Ours and they also done some old stuff. Craig Mabbit has an awesome live scream and I definately recommend that you see them if you have the chance. They have an incrdible stage presence. Craig had the crowd in the palm of his hands, getting us to scream.

Awesome day.

As usual I'm a few years behind on my music finds, but better late than never, and that's the truth. I absolutely fell in love with this C.D. I would say I picked it up a couple of weeks ago, and already I'm into the 20's with my play count. This is really a one of a kind C.D, its really like nothing else I've heard.

So these four tracks do a great job showing just how many different direction this album stretches in.

I'll leave you with a quote from BBC on the album.

BBC via WIKI said:
To listen to Crystal Castles, according to the BBC, "is to be cast adrift in a vortex of deafening pain without a safety net. You get the feeling you could do anything in the world, but that 'anything' would ultimately mean nothing. Crystal Castles marks a nuanced emotional territory that dance music never covered before."

mgmt-congratulations.jpg

MGMT's newest album Congratulations seriously fucks my ears in the greatest way possible. It is not quite as good as their first album but it is a very nice Sophmore attempt. MGMT continues to amaze me with the uniqueness of their sound, though this album does resemble a little bit of a Shins sound at times. The first four tracks "It's Working", "Song for Dan Treacy", "Someone's Missing", and "Flash Delirium" are as good and as original as anything else MGMT has put out. I have thoroughly enjoyed it and would recommend it.

I shall now make a post that actually makes sense, and review the first studio album of Coheed and Cambria
Another Coheed fan! I think I love you. :D

Anyway, seeing as Coheed and Cambria just came out with a new album, I think it's only fitting that I review this latest album.

Year of the Black Rainbow

1. "One" - 1:54
2. "The Broken" - 3:53
3. "Guns of Summer" - 4:47
4. "Here We Are Juggernaut" - 3:44
5. "Far" - 4:54
6. "This Shattered Symphony" - 4:26
7. "World of Lines" - 3:18
8. "Made Out of Nothing (All That I Am)" - 4:38
9. "Pearl of the Stars" - 5:05
10. "In the Flame of Error" - 5:29
11. "When Skeletons Live" - 4:18
12. "The Black Rainbow" - 7:33

This is Coheed's fifth studio album, but it is the first chronogically in the story. I'm not going to say anything about the story surrounding this album, as I don't know anything about it and i'm not going to bullshit my way through it. So anyway this is the prequel to the story, and i'll let Razor explain the story behind the album if he wants to.

Musically, this is a new progression for Coheed, while still containing elements from their earlier work. This album is a lot more metal-orientated than their earlier works, as can be seen in Guns of Summer, but still provides some slower softer moments such as Pearl of the Stars. Coheed have managed to incorporate a little bit of everything into their style over the years, and this definitely shows in this album, with some songs wondering whether they can have been from the same band. Coheed have made their own style and shows that they are not confined to one genre with each album and each song is unique in its own way. Claudio even has a low voice on Pearl of the Stars! :p

One thing that's missing from this album is different strong structures, such as songs having no structure whatsoever (Junesong Provision) or extended songs full of different parts (21:13). The new producers have added a more spacey, airy kind of feel to this whole album. On some tracks it works wonders, on other tracks it can seem a bit overcrowded. But with this album, they seem to have gotten a lot of things right, for example not putting guitar solos into every song a la No World For Tomorrow. I think this album flows very well together.

I think anybody who's looking for a different style of music should get into Coheed, they're different from any other band around at the moment. My personal favorites on this album are The Broken, Pearl of the Stars, and Guns of Summer, but it's hard to choose even three. Anyway, have a listen and decide for yourselves:

13th February 2010, Melbourne, Australia. AC/DC!!!!

The show opened with Wolfmother, and they put on a great show, including some new songs but mostly playing their old hits, such as Joker And The Thief and Woman, and they got the crowd pumped up to see AC/DC.

And what a show it was. Gotta love AC/DC. Even in their 50s and 60s, they still own the stage. These guys still rock like they're in their 20s. Brian still can hit all those notes with that distinct vocal style of his. The best parts are whenever Angus rips into a solo and you can see how much he loves what he does and how much of a master he is at the guitar. Then again, The Jack was pretty good too. They played all their classic hits, and screw the online petition that wanted them to add some of their back catalog. For someone like me, the set list was perfect. The only thing missing was It's A Long Way To The Top, but they played High Voltage as a tribute to Bon Scott. :p They ended with For Those About To Rock, and with the cannon (FIRE) and the epic freestyle rock ending, it was the perfect end to an awesome show.

1.) Family Force 5- They are a blend of punk rock and electronica. Sounds weird in words, but when you listen to it it rocks. The music has a Christian message, but it's somewhat hidden.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tm1flSneM6w

2.) Skillet- They are a hard rock band. They did the theme for Hell in a Cell, Monster. They have a Christian message as well, and it's a little more pronounced than FF5
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1mjlM_RnsVE

3.) August Burns Red- They are a metalcore screamo band. They have 2 really good screamers and a really good guitarist. If you like screamo, I would recommend them. They have a really hidden Christian message, but unless you're looking at the lyrics online, you wouldn't get it.

Going more progressive, I'm going to recommend my favourite album from the band Porcupine Tree.

Fear Of A Blank Planet - Porcupine Tree
Fear_of_a_blank_planet.jpg

1. "Fear of a Blank Planet" 7:28
2. "My Ashes" 5:07
3. "Anesthetize" 17:42
4. "Sentimental" 5:26
5. "Way Out of Here" 7:37
6. "Sleep Together" 7:28

Porcupine Tree are one of the best bands going around at the moment. They are very progressive and aren't afraid to be different than what's going around them, whether it be with different time signatures or different atmospheres. They can be heavy, or they can be soft, calm and mysterious.

This whole album is their greatest. Some of their greatest songs, with the near-18 minute epic Anesthetize IMO their greatest song ever. This album has great riffs in Fear of a Blank Planet and Anesthetize, and some great synth work on songs like My Ashes. If you like mainstream pop, stay away from this album. Otherwise, this album has a bit of everything and I guarantee that you will love it. Check out the title track and go get the album now!

Jeez, it's been a while since I came in here and gave my honest review of some of the music that I have been listening to. Aw well, it is time for another review, I guess. This time, I will be reviewing one of my favourite bands of the moment and an album that I have been anticipating for a couple of years now.

41.jpg

Personally, I think this album is fantastic. I think that it devilishly catchy and is a great example of modern British pop-rock. It has great charm about it and is really quite addictive. Their first, self-titled, album is one of my favourites and every one of the songs on it is pretty good. The same can be said of this album too. All of the songs on it are pretty decent. Some are not as good as other but I wouldn't say that there is a bad song on the entire album.

In the media, this album has received negative reviews though. Many have commented that the album is very generic and that apart from the catchy chorus, there is nothing substantial in the album. I seem to disagree and I would think that this is the media being unnecessarily harsh. I generally have a good ear for music and I know that this album is going to be big in the UK. I would say that they are at least going to get 2 or 3 number one singles out of this album and I fully expect it to top the album charts too. On iTunes, it has a 4-star rating and that shows that people generally feel the same. I have no idea why it is getting such a bad rep in the media because some of the songs are pretty fantastic.

"This Ain't A Love Song" and "1+1=3" are amazing songs and are wonderfully mainstream. They will do well and there is a few more songs that will carry this album. It is another good album from Scouting For Girls and I fully expect it to do well despite the media lashing it has received.

An album that I've been addicted to recently is "Of the Blue Colour of the Sky" by OK Go. It's unlike anything OK Go has put out before. It's drenched in reverb, falsetto and experimentation. It's got a quality that can't accurately be described, but if I had to define it, I would say it's "spacious." You'll know what I mean if you listen to it.

Track 1 - "WTF?": This song is solid. It's probably the only song in 5/4 time that I find stuck in my head.
Track 2 - "This Too Shall Pass": Awesome drums and one of the catchiest songs on the album.
Track 3 - "All is Not Lost": Great chorus, and great song.
Track 4 - "Needing/Getting": Definitely my favorite on the album. A near-perfect song.
Track 5 - "Skyscrapers": Nice progression, great vocal performance, and it's full of solid sections.
Track 6 - "White Knuckles": I love this song. Well-placed vocal harmonies and a dynamite synth part.
Track 7 - "I Want You So Bad I Can't Breathe": Provocative and '80s-sounding. What more could anyone want?
Track 8 - "End Love": One of the weaker songs on the album, but still solid.
Track 9 - "Before the Earth Was Round": A strange, but surprisingly catchy vocoder classic.
Track 10 - "Last Leaf": A song that's beautiful in it's simplicity. A man, a guitar, and a love song. That's all.
Track 11 - "Back From Kathmandu": A "dreamy" song with trippy lyrics that stays in your head for weeks.
Track 12 - "While You Were Asleep": The sparse instrumentation makes the elegant vocal harmonies all the more perfect.
Track 13 - "In The Glass": Amazing vocal performance, and a perfect way to end a perfect album.

Uhh sorry if its been mentioned but Habits by Neon Trees is pretty good.
habits-neon-trees.jpg

I would suggest it if you are a fan of bands who have a bit of a pop feel to them, also there quite MGMT-ish with some techno beats. In my opnion the best songs are 1983 and Animal

Another album I would suggest would be Gorillaz - Plastic Beach. But I imagine this has already been suggested. Great album though if your'e like me and into all types of music.
best songs I think are superfast jellyfish, on melancholy hill and Some kind of nature.

One other album I have been listening to is the Kick Ass soundtrack. Its got a great range of songs leading with MIKA's We Are Young and Ellie Goulding's Starry Eyed.

Also UK People out there please take a listen to B.o.B, it wont be long before hes shoved down our throats everyday by radio one .etc. so enjoy him while you can.

Before I go there is one other song i like and thats pendulum - watercolour. I find that most people like pendulum and it's a top song.

cheers.

So sunday, May 2, I went to The Bamboozle in NJ. For those who do not know, its a two day festival of mostly punk, hardcore, rock, and some hip hop bands.
There are bands playing nonstop, all day, which means there is always someone to watch.

The first set i saw was Ok Go. they were a great way to start off the REALLY long and hot day. They played all of their most famous songs such as "Get over it", "A million ways", "Invincible", "Here it goes again", and "This too shall pass". They even covered The Pixies's "Debaser". for a half hour set, they were really good.

The next band i saw was Motion City Soundtrack, and even being a long time fan of theirs, they were better than i expected. The lead singer was great, as most of the time he was having the crowd sing. They were just fun. theres no other way to describe it.

Other bands like The devil wears prada and say anything were also pretty good. but it was really hard to pay attention to them because at that point, the sun was really hot and combination of 90 degree heat and $4 water bottles was not a good one.

towards the end, the good stuff started happening. Mutemath had an awesome ending, with their drummer (who is UNBELIEVABLE) doing a sick drum solo on a keyboard and one with only his bass drum. Then he took his drum into the crowd, had them hold it up, while he stood on it then fell back into the crowd. From my angle, it looked like he Jesus standing on the crowd.

the man known as Girl talk was the lead up to the two headliners, and it was a perfect decision. if you have never heard of him, Girl talk just takes other songs and mashes them together. It gave the festival a very club-like feel and it was appropriate because it hyped up the crowd for the finish.

MGMT was the first headliner to play and i was a little disappointed. I am a huge fan of theirs and i love both of their albums, but they were very quiet. They did play good songs, as they opened with "flash delirium" and also played "kids", "congratulations", "electric feel", "time to pretend", and "its working". good but i expected better.

Finally, the headliner, my favorite band of all time, Weezer. All i can say is incredible. they played almost all of their hits and everyone there knew all the words to each of them. "Hash pipe", "undone", "beverly hills"...you name it, they played it. I tried to get as close as i can to the stage and it was packed and very tight. full of sweaty people, jumping up and down against each other, but it was great nonetheless. There were even pits. so many crowd surfers too. during their first encore, they covered MGMT's "kids" and segwayed in the middle of it to "pokerface", when Rivers put on a blonde wig. for the second encore, rivers came out by himself and started playing drums. Then he stopped playing, but they were still going as he had them on a loop. He did the same with bass and guitar until he was up there playing "island in the sun" all by himself. the rest of the band then came out and they played a few more songs, culminating with "buddy holly". unbelievable set by an unbelievable band.

If i didnt have to get up at 8 am, it wasnt so hot, there werent so many smokers present, and people knew how to use garbage cans, i would have gave it an 11/10. but because the place was covered in garbage, and i came home covered in sweat, smoke, dirt, and garbage, it only gets a 9/10.

Bone Thugs-n-Harmony - Uni5: The World's Enemy

knzh_btnhuni5covweb_9.jpg

Finally, FINALLY after three long years, them Bone Boys is back!. I can't tell you how stoked I was for this album to come out. The back story to this album is that all five members of Bone Thugs-n-Harmony are all on the same album for the first time in a full capacity in ten years. Bizzy rejoined the group after a long hiatus and Flesh-n-Bone was released from prison after an eight year sentence. That album was BTNHRessurection which just so happens to be my second favorite Bone Thugs album behind E1999. So after all that waiting, how did the album turn out?

1. "The Law (Intro)" 1:01
2. "Rebirth" (featuring Thin C) 7:16
3. "See Me Shine" (featuring Lyfe Jennings & J Rush) 6:04
4. "Only God Can Judge Me" 4:13
5. "Wanna Be" 5:18
6. "My Life" 4:49
7. "Everytime" 5:34
8. "Fearless (Interlude)" 0:34
9. "Gone" (featuring Ricco Barrino) 4:29
10. "Meet Me in the Sky" (featuring K-Young) 5:16
11. "Universe" 3:44
12. "A New Mind = A New Life (Interlude)" 0:45
13. "Pay What They Owe" 5:25
14. "Facts Don't Lie" 3:42
15. "My Street Blues" (iTunes Bonus Track) 5:30
16. "Vegas" (iTunes Bonus Track) 4:15

This album was a completely different pace and style that I've come to know Bone Thugs for. While this isn't a bad change of pace, I would wish that the whole album was quite a bit softer than what they normally release. I still want to see that spit fire flows and street anthems. However, I've gone into the mindset that they've grown as artists and wanted to release an album that dealt with subjects and situations that are closer to home for them. Listening to the album with an open mind and not judging it based on previous material, it's a good album. It's not Bone's greatest album by any means, but it's good.

I could have gone without the intro and the interludes in the album, it just seems like wasted space when Bone's been working on this album for over a year. Without the iTunes bonus tracks, the album clocks in at only 14 songs. A double album would have been outstanding, but you take what you can get I suppose.

The real meat of the album is in the middle, with songs such as "Gone", "Only God Can Judge Me", "Wanna Be", and probably my favorite track on the album, "Meet Me In The Sky". The four aforementioned songs really highlight the harmony and gospel background that Bone grew up from, and the lyrical content in the songs are sound. I do like the first single from the album "Rebirth", it's a more upbeat tempo song and gives every member time to shine on the track. "See Me Shine" is another good track.

Overall I'll give this album a 7.5/10. A good starting point for the group's reunion, but the tempo and style desperately needed variety. I enjoy chill music as much as the next man, but I also love those hard fast rapping songs Krayzie and Bizzy are notorious for releasing. They want to release an album later in the year, so I'm hoping to see some more street anthems on their next album. This album just seemed to be more tuned for the mainstream, which isn't a bad thing by any means, but now it's time to go back to what they know and what the BTNH fans want.

Notable Tracks:
"Rebirth"
"See Me Shine"
"Gone"
"Wanna Be"
"Meet Me In The Sky"

Overall Rating: 7.5 out of 10

The third album from 30 Seconds to Mars, while it's like half a year ago since it was released, I felt that I should go ahead and review it anyway, I feel that this album is pretty decent, kinda reminds me of Linkin Park's Minute to Midnight, not because of the same style, but quality wise in the manner that it was a good decent album that people should check out, but it is definitely not the good old band we used to know from the previous two albums, 30 Seconds to Mars has definitely changed, for the better? no, but it's still good, it's still good.

The style has grown to be less Emo / Alternative Metal like, to being regular Hard-Rock and Progressive Rock if we're to trust Wikipedia's ranking of them, to say the least ,it's rock now, it was more metal before, it's a fresh, very fresh new start for these guys, and once again it shows off a great voice that Jared Leto truly can show off, he's very multi talented.

Decent album, check it out guys, 7/10, and that's only because I preferred the older 30 Seconds to Mars, without you guy's marking me as an Emo.

Songs to check out
  • Kings and Queens
  • Night of the Hunter
  • This is war

Alice In Chains- Black Gives Way To Blue

I applaud Alice In Chains for doing a new album after the death of Layne Staley, it is a very good album and in part a tribute to Staley. Jerry Cantrell's lyrics and music are very moving and makes you think. The lyrics to Your Decision, Private Hell and Black Gives Way To Blue are perfect tributes to Staley and his struggles with drug addiction. I will say new vocalist William DuVall barely does anything on the album unfortunetly, his vocals are only really heard on Last Of My Kind and are very good but aside from that he's doing backing vocals for Cantrell. This might be because they weren't sure how the fans would react to him, but if your going to get a new vocalist use him.

Overall a very good album, if your an Alice In Chains fan check it out Cantrell, Kinney and Inez are still a well oiled machine and DuVall holds his own. If you want a rock album with some acoustics throughout check it out as well.

Lil' Jon - Crunk Rock
CrunkRock.PNG

I think everyone knows who Lil Jon is and the mannerisms he's brought to entertain people. Well it's been awhile since we've seen an album from him, and I know he's not everyone's favorite, but if you want music that gets you energized and ready to get drunk as hell, this is a solid album for just the occasion.

1. "Crunk Rock" (Intro)
2. "Throw It Up, Pt. 2 (Remix)" (featuring Pastor Troy & Waka Flocka Flame)
3. "G Walk" (featuring Soulja Boy Tell 'Em)
4. "On de Grind" (featuring Stephen & Damian "Jr. Gong" Marley)
5. "What Is Crunk Rock?" (Interlude)
6. "Killas" (featuring Game, Elephant Man, Ice Cube & Whole Wheat Bread)
7. "Get in Get Out"
8. "Outta Your Mind" (featuring LMFAO)
9. "Ride da D" (featuring Ying Yang Twins)
10. "Ms. Chocolate" (featuring R. Kelly & Mario)
11. "Like a Stripper" (featuring Pleasure P & Shawty Putt)
12. "Shots" (with LMFAO)
13. "Work It Out" (featuring Pitbull)
14. "Hey" (with 3OH!3)

So looking at the track listing, you can see that Lil Jon relies on a lot of featured artists for his tracks. That's nothing new, he's been mostly a producer and hype/hook man for his albums for years now. Really this whole album is a formulaic method to what Lil Jon does. Throw a bass heavy track out with Lil Jon doing his usual hype, with the featured artists taking care of the heavy lifting vocally. And the tracks are bass heavy, this put my subwoofer through it's paces and I loved it. However if you're looking for lyrical mastery, well clearly you have been steered way off course. Repetitive hooks and chorus are all over this album. Albeit there is one track that seems out of place, with the track Killas. It may seem out of place but it is a damn good track, Elephant Man, Ice Cube, and The Game really bring it hard on the track with heavy guitar riffs on the backdrop.

A lot of tracks however are hit and miss for me, so it's really just a handful of tracks I enjoy. "Killas" as previously mentioned is a solid track mostly due to Ice Cube and The Game. "On De Grind" with Stephan and Damian Marley is dope, although I think they seemed a bit out of their element beat wise. The two tracks featuring LMFAO is pretty sick as well. The first single "Outta Your Mind" made me want to go stage dive into a mosh pit, while "Shots" was actually on LMFAO's album first. Both are high temp, bass heavy tracks perfect for the club. Not quite sold on the track "Work It Out" with Pitbull, I guess I was expecting more from it. I skipped the track with Soulja Boy obviously, and the 3OH!3 appearance was lackluster and a head scratcher as well.

Overall this album is good for a handful of songs for those wishing to beat up the street while they're cruising, or if you got a party going and want to get the energy up. Not much substance, but a lot of flash. Overall I'm giving it a 4.5/10 on my typical harsh grading scale, but if you just want party music, it's good for a solid 8/10 on that end.

Notable Tracks:
"Killas"
"On de Grind"
"Outta Your Mind"
"Shots"

Hip hop aficionado rating: 4.5
Bass and party enthusiast rating: 8.0

It's been a long time since I have updated anything on here, and once my concert's were over I said I would post my review here....so here goes.

Burlington Steamboat Days in Burlington, Iowa had a 6 day carnival and music festival.

The Entertainer's this year were as follows:

Billy Currington(Didn't go to)

Jason Michael Carroll(Didn't go to)

Zac Brown Band(Didn't go to)

Theory of a Deadman(Went to)

BuckCherry(Went to)

Lady Antebellum(Didn't go to)

Out of the two I went to here's my review:

Friday June 18th was Opening Act-Gibbs Brothers(local band) and Theory of a Deadman. We got to see The Gibbs Brothers but didn't get to see Theory of a Deadman due to bad weather.

The Gibbs Brother's weren't all that great, they were more or less a cover band playing other mainstream band's music. Right after they performed the clouds rolled in, the thunder rolled and the lightning striked and then the downpour of rain. A big gust of wind sent everyone inside an auditorium where the band wasn't allowed to play due to not enough room for everyone. We were in there for a couple hours. The concert was postponed until the storm(s) passed, so around 11 they tried to get things cleared on the stage for the band to come out, but then it just kept lightning bad and since it wasn't stopping they cancelled completely at 11:30. So a no performance for Theory.

Saturday June 19th was Opening Act-Royal Bliss and then BuckCherry. Royal Bliss was alright. They played their own music. I don't see them as a main act for a very long time, but they are a good enough band to get the crowd going.

Then FINALLY! BUCKCHERRY! If you all remember, maybe, they cancelled at last minute back in September when I had tickets to see them with Red, and Saving Abel. I was so angry, but they pulled through on Saturday night. I wouldn't say they are the greatest band to see, but at least they didn't disappointment me for a second time. Do I recommend seeing them? It's a toss up. It's a chance you have to take on your own. If you like them and want to see them, you have a chance to see them IF they show up, and IF they show up, you better hope they are sober enough to play.

Krayzie Bone - The Fixtape Vol. 3: Lyrical Paraphernalia
51TQ25Q1zDL._SS500_.jpg

The back story to this album goes as follows. Krayzie decided to get into the mixtape game, but naturally he decided to do it his own way. So a few years ago he started his Fixtape series, which of course is Kray just flowing over popular beats, pretty standard mixtape stuff. Only difference is, Kray's been able to almost make every beat off these albums into his own song rather than just a remake of the original. This of course is the third volume of the series, and wow, it's just as good as the first two, if not better.

1. Scrape The Block [Explicit] 3:36
2. Suicide [Explicit] 2:31
3. One Life [Explicit] 4:30
4. My Street Blues [Explicit] 4:58
5. Ain't Gon Save Em [Explicit] 3:16
6. Hard To Let Go [Explicit] 1:14
7. What Have I Become (Trouble) [Explicit] 3:17
8. Conversation By Myself [Explicit] 1:41
9. Let It All Go [Explicit] 2:55 Not Available
10. Whatcha Gon Do For Me [Explicit] 3:14
11. What Have We Done [Explicit] 6:57

Alright right out the gate we get an awesome song in "Scrape The Block". To be honest, when Krayzie gets on some G Funk style beats, he can't be stopped. This song doesn't disappoint. I'm thinking it's a song by The Game originally but I can't put my finger on what the song was. One thing I noticed about this whole album, it's a lot deeper than I've even expected from Krayzie Bone. While he's got the street banger in "Scrape The Block", most of the other songs are very introspective, such as "What Have I Become", "Conversation By Myself", "Hard To Let Go", "Suicide", and my favorite song on the album "What Have I Become". This is not a feel good album where it's all sunshine and good times. It's an album that goes deep into Krayzie's struggles and sorrow he's gone through. Krayzie kills it on each track though, and really makes you listen to his lyrics and stories in the verses. Other tracks include two that didn't make the cut on Bone Thug's new album, "My Street Blues", and "Let It All Go". Both tracks seem to fall inline with the theme of the album, more of a despair and gloomy feeling. I wasn't feeling "Let It All Go" quite that much however. We also got a couple songs regarding the women trying to scheme on him in "Ain't Gon Save Em" and "Whatcha Ya Gon Do For Me". "Ain't Gon Save Em" is one of my favorites off the album as well. I will mention this as well, the song "One Life" is done over Nas's great song "One Mic". It's an interesting take on the beat, and while it doesn't quite match up to the original, it's still a great storytelling song. The album ends with a song that features Michael Jackson in "What Have We Done". I'm still not sure what I feel about the song, it's not bad but it doesn't vibe with me like the rest of the album has.

Overall this album was a great listen from start to finish, hell it's an album that's been on my playlist constantly lately. I suggest getting this album when it comes out, I was able to snag the CD on iTunes when it was posted prematurely and before iTunes took it down. Otherwise you'll have to wait until July 27th to get a CD version of the album. No matter which way you prefer, get this album. Like now. Why are you still reading this? Oh...right it's not out yet "officially".I'm giving this a 9.4 overall rating.

Notable Tracks:
"Scrape The Block"
"One Life"
"What Have I Become"
"Ain't Gon Save Em"
"Hard To Let Go"
"Conversation By Myself"

Man on the Moon: The End of Day

5. "Heart of a Lion (Kid Cudi Theme Music)" 4:21
6. "My World" (featuring Billy Craven) 4:03
7. "Day 'n' Nite (Nightmare)" 3:41
8. "Sky Might Fall" 3:40
9. "Enter Galactic (Love Connection Part I)" 4:20

14. "Hyyerr" (featuring Chip tha Ripper) 3:32
15. "Up Up & Away (The Wake & Bake Song)" 3:47

Man on the Moon is Cudi's brilliant freshman album. Every track gives the listener a taste of Cudi's life struggles and bits and pieces of his personality and psych. Every track kind of weaves itself into a what feels like a dream with smooth and dreamy tracks like "In my Dreams" and "Cudi Zone". Alos featured are the soothing beats of the more popular tracks like "Day 'n' Nite" and "Up, Up, and Away" that reveal alot about who Kid Cudi really is and how he percieves the world. This is a beyond impressive freshman album with the help of the likes of Kanye West, Ratatat and Chip tha Ripper. Man on the Moon: The End of Day gets a 5 out 5. Can't wait for his second album, Man On the Man: The Legend of Dr. Rager, which will be out September 29th.
