The Clipse - Til The Casket Drops

While this album is not out yet, it is definitely going to be a classic album. The Clipse always go hard on their songs and I love their word play. After hearing a few singles from the album I am quite hyped to get this album which is due out December 8, 2009.

Here's some of the tracks :

This is the 4th of my series of music-related threads. If you're not a fan of rap, then you might not like this thread at all, but that only holds true to some people. Jay-Z is one of those people that I've noticed people absolutely hate him, or absolutely love him. I'm more on the fence, since I think he's a bit overrated in some sorts, however I do like a lot of his songs.

Anyway... not many people can say that during their professional career, they have had a double-digit amount of albums. Jay-Z can, with 11, and most likely and counting. He's now broken the record he had previously held along with Elvis Presley, at 10 apiece. He's one of the most popular and successful hip-hop/rap artists in the game, even at nearly 40 years old, and a prior retirement.

So... what has been your favorite Jay-Z album to date? Please remember to also state why? You can list your favorite song(s) from the album. Whatever. Please... elaborate!

Here's a list of them albums, if you need it...

1. Reasonable Doubt (Released June 25, 1996)
5. The Dynasty: Roc La Familia (Released October 31, 2000)
6. The Blueprint (Released September 11, 2001)
7. The Blueprint²: The Gift & The Curse (Released November 12, 2002)
8. The Black Album (Released November 14, 2003)
9. Kingdom Come (Released November 20, 2006)
10. American Gangster (Released November 6, 2007)
11. The Blueprint 3 (Released Septptember 8, 2009)

I Love a few of their other songs "Miss Murder", "Love Like Winter" & "Miseria Cantare" they were all fine but "Medicate" i like alot more and i'm so glad Havok dropped all the white and black make-up.

I was stunned when i first seen it, for the better... They have changed their sound a little and i'm sure it'll pay off.

By the way "A Fire Inside" sounds better "AFI".

I honestly can't believe i'm writing this thread, but I have to give credit where credit is due. I just downloaded Lil Wayne's new mixtape, "No Ceilings" I really don't care for Wayne too much. His music is too repetitive to me, and I have a hard time deciphering what he says in his verses anymore. This mixtape is pretty badass though. He must have laid off the drugs during this. It sounds like the older Wayne, he's back on his lyrical shit, crazy metaphors and slick rhymes. I hated The Carter III. That's just me though. Have any of you bothered to give this album a listen?

Yeah, I thought it was a real solid mixtape, with a handful of tracks that are worth putting on the playlist. I'm not sure how far back you mean when you say it sounds like the "older" Wayne, because this mixtape resembles all of Wayne's mixtapes: Dedication 2 and 3, Drought 3. It's a different style when you compare Wayne from a mixtape to Wayne from an album. Different objectives, stricter limits. Perhaps you're just a fan of his free-flowing freestyles.

Yes. I absolutely loved this mixtape. And Freddy, he was definitely on drugs, you can hear him light up the blunt in the beginning :lmao:.

Anyways, this was some solid shit from Wayne. Especially songs like this:

and

Now I know this mixtape will get alot of love from people because of the lack of autotune, but that's another dispute for another day....

All in all, this was a solid mixtape from Wayne, and some of his best music ever. This reminded me of Da Drought and Dedication series. Great stuff right here.

Last Lil Wayne mixtape I really cared about was Drought 3. And before that, Carter II. Not that big of a Wayne fan. Especially of his Carter III album. I think he just threw it together, it was crap to me. I listen to him very VERY rarely.

Not as influenced as Carter III. Weed's whatever. Swag Surfin' might be my favorite freestyle. I thought it was pretty sweet, the autotune not being there definitely helped it. Plus the mario song, dunno the name. But that beat.. yikes. I love it.

I just picked up the Live on St. Patricks Day, Dropkick Murphys album. Pretty decent, not as good as their studio stuff but thats probably attributable to the venue. The first half of the cd was as if I was actually at a live DKM concert but the last half seemed a little like it was re-recorded in a studio. You couldn't hear the fans at all unless it was before or after a song and it sounded to clear, the words I mean, unlike the begining where it was hard as hell to make out the words.

Overall, it was a good listen. The song choices were great and the band sounded fantastic, as usual. I am a huge DKM fan though so maybe I am biased. I would say it is worth listening to but maybe not worth buying unless you are a die hard DKM fan like myself.

That's the title of Eminem's newest release on January 21st. It's essentially a re-release of "Relapse" with a handful of brand new tracks. I've listened to many of them, they sound good. The beats are of course, perfection. Eminem's flow never disappoints. He said hopefully this keeps the fans going until his "Relapse 2" album drops sometimes in 2010. So, will you be purchasing this?

These song pretty good. I'm really looking forward to this CD. I haven't bought a em CD since the old days, but these songs seem really good. Was the first version of this CD, since this is a re release, any good?

Although I cannot stand Eminem one bit, since as far as hip-hop goes he is one of the absolute worst this is a good idea on his management's part.

The metal scene has been doing these reissue special editions for years now and its really helped to keep that genre alive in terms of record sales, so this is a great idea for hip-hop artists to start doing it.

Though I will not be spending a single cent on any third rate hip-hop.

I loved the original cut of Relapse. It was probably my favorite Eminem album since The Slim Shady LP. Every track delivers which is a great thing for a modern day mainstream rapper. So many rap albums only have 4 to 5 good songs and the rest suck, case in point The Blue Print 3. Though I love that album there are a handful of shitty songs on it.

I will most certainly pick this album up but probably not until after Christmas. I gotta get the new Lupe first and don't wanna buy any new cd's until after Christmas.

Yeah, it was pretty great. There were a few that were kinda eh, but they didn't suck. Eminem doesn't make bad songs. He's a perfectionist. These songs are definitely good, I can't wait for this CD to come out. I'm gonna buy it and have it playing for a while..

I just got back from 96 Rocks Sickest Xmas Ever show. It was a local band (replacing a national band), Adelititas Way, and Skinny Puppies.

Local Band- Named 8Kount, I already knew the drummer, as he was once married to one of my closest, if not one of my longest, friends. Needless to say, they were abysmal, and did not do a fair job of replacing Rev Theory, who I was looking forward to seeing, if for nothing else than the off chance of hearing Orton's theme. They played one original song, then four covers.

Adelitas Way- These guys were Fucking Amazing. High Energy all night, and they knew where the hell they were, even using the correct section of Cincy. Much more Hardcore than I was expecting.

Sick Puppies- They were just awesome live. Great stage presence, and they played all their best songs. What made them even better: Security tried busting up a pit, and they threatened to walk off, and refund tickets. Plus, as FTS told me, the bassist was frickin' hot.

Taylor Swift's album 'Fearless' sold 3,157,000 in 2009, with Susan Boyle's 'I Dreamed A Dream' trailing behind at 2,982,000, according to Billboard. The runner-up on the Billboard 200 may end up being Lady Gaga's 'The Fame.' Next week's album charts will be revealed on Wednesday, Jan. 6 and will reflect the final data through the week ending Sunday, Jan. 3.

This is awesome. Taylor having the best selling album of the year(also she was the 2nd best selling artist of the year right behind MJ)

This album sold like crazy this year and it makes me happy. I was a little nervous cause Susan Boyle was right on Taylor's tale ands been out for only 5 weeks so I think it will soon past Fearless is sales. I hope not but it most likely will.

Album: "Memento Mori"
Artist: Flyleaf

Track Listing:
1) "Beautiful Bride"
2) "Again"
3) "Chasm"
4) "Missing"
5) "This Close"
6) "The Kind"
7) "In the Dark"
8) "Set Apart This Dream"
9) "Swept Away"
10) "Tiny Heart"
11) "Melting" [Interlude]
12) "Treasure"
13) "Circle"
14) "Arise"

First off, Lacey's voice is absolutely amazing. She can sing. She screams a bit, but she pulls that off too. This album is pretty badass. I've always had a thing for Flyleaf and this album doesn't disappoint. The guitar, drums, everything are spot on. Like I said; she. can. sing. "In The Dark" is one of my favorite tracks. As well as "Set Apart This Dream." Lacey will hit a few notes in here that will make you go "Whoa.. " It's got a nice mix of like.. alternative, a spoonful of emo and hard rock. Whichever genre you set it in. I recommend the album, I highly do. Worth a download.

The Antlers - Hospice

The-antlers1.jpg

1. Prologue 2:33
2. Kettering 5:10
3. Sylvia 5:25
4. Atrophy 7:38
5. Bear 3:53
6. Thirteen 3:10
7. Two 5:54
8. Shiva 3:44
9. Wake 8:42
10. Epilogue 5:27

I was considering making a thread for this but I guess it's better off in here. Anyways, I fucking love this album. It was recorded over the course of two years in an apartment in NY, and it tells the story of losing a loved one to cancer. With that kind of content, the album could've been a real miss but that's not the case at all. It's overwhelmingly emotional, beautiful, and shocking but it isn't difficult to listen to at all. In fact, I find myself listening to it a lot. It's hard to get through it sometimes because I'll get the chills or it'll hit me like a ton of bricks, but I think that's part of what makes it a piece of art. I think if you're interested, "Bear" might be a good place to start: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PxFwAmYuYds

If you like indie and you haven't checked this out yet, give it a shot. I don't think you'll be disappointed.

Album: "The Foundation"
Artist: Zac Brown Band

Tracklist:
1) "Toes"
2) "Whatever It Is"
3) "Where The Boat Leaves From"
4) "Violin Intro to Free"
5) "Free"
6) "Chicken Fried"
7) "Mary"
8)" Different Kind Of Fine"
9) "Highway 20 Ride"
10) "It's not OK"
11) "Jolene"
12) "Sic Em' On a Chicken"

I think out of all the albums i've reviewed so far, this may be my favorite album. This CD is absolutely wonderful. I love it. The music is of the country genre. It's got a real laid back, bluesy type feel on some songs. It's definitely got alot of Southern in it. You can listen to the fiddle in this album. It's incorporated heavily. The songs are all gold. From "Toes" all the way to "Sic 'Em on a Chicken" the songs are beautiful. Some are real uptempo and kinda catchy. Others are softer and just real relaxing. It's got a humorous feel to it as well. The guy can sing too. Oh man, he's got a voice. I highly recommend this album to anyone that's a fan of country music. I promise you, you will not be disappointed.

fozzy_chasing.jpg

Artist: Fozzy
Album: "Chasing the Grail"

Tracklist:

1. "Under Blackened Skies"
2. "Martyr No More"
3. "Grail"
4. "Broken Soul"
5. "Let the Madness Begin"
6. "Pray for Blood"
7. "New Day's Dawn"
8. "God Pounds His Nails"
9. "Watch Me Shine"
10. "Paraskavedekatriaphobia (Friday the 13th)"
11. "Revival"
12. "Wormword"

... aaaaaaaaaaand we're back with another album review. The album this time is none other than Fozzy's brand-spankin' newest album "Chasing the Grail" Chris Jericho is on lead vocals and man does it he ever bring it in this album. This album, right off the bat you will notice a heavier feel to it. It's much, much more heavier then the previous album. There's a lot more influence on the drums and the guitar. Chris Jericho puts alot of balls into singing, you can feel it. His voice has gotten better since the previous album as well. I'm right in the middle of the14-minute prog rock-inspired tune called 'Wormwood'". Wikipedia says the song "Broken Soul" is a ''70s-type Southern rock-type ballady-type tune". I have the bass up on my headphones and the bass drum is kicking heavily in it. Jericho is fucking killing the vocals though! I'm seriously impressed. He stepped it up way more from All That Remains. I know there's a lot of people who don't take Fozzy seriously because a wrestler is the lead singer, but i'm dead serious. This album will command your attention and demand respect. I think it's pretty badass. I don't care too much for the song Broken Soul myself, and there's another on here I think is a stinker, can't remember which at the moment. I think fans of Heavy Metal or hard rock, whatever you wanna classify this as, will enjoy it. It's got this old school heavy metal feel to it, think Sabbath or something.

[I am in no way comparing Fozzy to Black Sabbath]

The song "Paraskavedekatriaphobia (Friday the 13th)" may be my favorite, after Wormword. This is totally badass.

Definitely get this album, Jericho won't joking when he said it was the best Fozzy album to date. I love it man.

Ive been getting into Pearl Jam lately and was wondering which albums should I get?? Ive already got Ten and it is brilliant and was wondering have they made similar albums???

Ke$ha+-+Animal.jpg

Ke$ha: Animal
"Your Love Is My Drug"
"Tik Tok"
"Take It Off"
"Kiss 'n' Tell"
"Stephen"
"Blah Blah Blah" featuring 3OH!3
"Hungover"
"Party At a Rich Dude's House"
"Backstabber"
"Blind"
"Dinosaur"
"Dancing With Tears In My Eyes"
"Boots & Boys"
"Animal"

"Fucking pop-magic" that is what 21 year old Ke$ha said when someone asked her to describe her new CD in 2 words. The girl was not wrong. If you like mindless, fun, dance/pop music; that uses silly lyrics, autotune, and infectious beats, then you'll love love love "Animal" by Ke$ha.

I'd describe it as a Britney/Katy Perry/GaGa love child, but this album is far superior to thoes 3 current offerings(yes even better than "bluffin, with my muffin"). Not only did Ke$ha help co-write every song, she also helped with the production, which show's some artistic ability, which is refreshing. Her current single "Tik Tok" is #1 on the Billboard Hot 100(6th week in a row), and her 2nd single(Blah Blah Blah)is storming up radio.

Thing is, this bitch could probably release any track from the album, and it would go top 10(their that good and infectious). Ke$ha the girl who got her start on The Simple Life with Paris and Nicole, dancing in Katy Perry's "I kissed a girl", and singing the hook on Flo Rida's #1 song(Right Round)has released pretty much mindless, pop, perfection, and I love it. Every song is maja fire, but personally I'm super in love with:

The rumored third single, "My love is your drug"

The quirky, lyrical nightmare "Take it off"

"Dinosaur": D-I-N-O-S-A-U-R a dinosaur/D-I-N-O-S-A-U-R a dinosaur/An O-L-D M-A-N you're just an old man/Hittin' on me, what?/You need a cat scan

The clubs are gonna have a field day with this album, and I couldn't be more pumped!
"Pop Perfection meets Mindless fun: This bitch is comin' hard" A+

The Megas - Get Equipped

Let me file this one under "What took you so long to find this?". Honestly, I can't believe I hadn't heard this album at least a few months earlier. It was released in 2008, and I had actually heard The Annihilation of Monsteropolis a few months ago when I was browsing around OverClocked Remix.

Anyway, The Megas are a California-based rock band that covers songs from the Mega Man series and adds lyrics. The effect is totally amazing and win. Seriously, each song is sung from the perspective of the robot whose theme it was, and each gets an awesome character. For example, Airman becomes a loner shunned by society due to his looks. Heatman becomes a psychopath who hears voices. Flashman gets a crush on Mega Man. It's really very interesting, so interesting that I've decided to write a series of short stories based on the album.

Anyway, I've been listening to this album nonstop for the past week. It's really something.

Here are some of my favorite songs from it:

But honestly, I adore the whole album. Highly, highly recommended, even if you're not a Mega Man player.

A+

Does anyone know if this CD is going to be available in the stores at all? I love picking up the wrestling CD's but prefer to have the actual CD and not have to purchase a digital version. I'd also prefer to buy it in person rather than on the internet. (Hey, I'm old fashion like that. If I could buy it on 8-track or LP, I would lo do that.) So yeah, any insight, that be great.

Good question. I looked at both WWE.com and even Wikipedia and as far as I know, the CD is currently an Amazon.com exclusive so if you want to physically buy it, I don't think you'll be able to do so now. Perhaps sometime in the future but for now, it seems you'll have to order it online if you want it now. Sorry if I couldn't be much help.
